I just finished lunch at the India Oven in Auburn. It was absolutely delicious! I tasted a little bit of everything. The butter chicken was super tender, moist, and large pieces of sliced chicken. The fish pecora was seasoned perfectly. Spinach is always one of my favorites. There was a mushroom dish in a sauce. I don't know what it was called, but had to go back for seconds. Rice pudding dish rounded off my perfect meal. Goat curry was perfect too. The dishes had just enough heat for me. I tasted everything, but only mentioning a few items. The staff was very kind to me. Thank you very much for an enjoyable meal. I will be back. Sorry my camera doesn't take the best pics. If I could give some constructive criticism. It would be to tell the servers to smile more. I know, they were stressed from the craziness of the crowd today, but smiles make people feel more welcomed. read more

We just moved to Auburn and found this Indian restaurant near by. I'm picky with Indian food and this by far it's the best Indian food. We ordered for pick up and it didn't take long at all. The service was wonderful. They were very friendly and they even gave us complimentary raita sauce. We're vegetarian and they have good variety of options. They even have all you can eat. The restaurant seems clean inside. Can't wait to try other vegetarian dishes. read more

Ordered takeout. Samosas were tasty, spinach paneer-yummy and a favorite. The mild curry chicken was a bit too hot for my liking but my husband enjoyed it. The food is great, the service is polite and professional, and the decor is very nice. I have only 2 complaints. The music is nice and pleasant to listen to but there were occasional ads playing and that takes away from the nice ambiance. Also, you have to get rid of the ringing phone. I'm getting my food Togo if that phone is ringing next time I'm in there. The waiter does try to answer it quickly, but maybe instead he should keep it on his hip. However, will definitely be back because the food and service are so good. Even with these complaints, I still recommend this place . You will not disappointed. read more

We were going from Yuba City back to NEVADA and decided we want to try some new restaurant in Auburn. So we pulled up restaurants in Auburn and India oven had 4.6 stars. We said let's try it. It was a great, fantastic exciting balance of ambience, service, professionalism, and great food. The gentleman working were so polite and their to serve us. We had Tikka masala, and coconut curry chicken, we also had two orders of garlic naan bread. There was enough food that we could take it home for another meal. India Oven - Auburn We were looking for a nicer lunch venue in the Auburn area and found the highly ranked India Oven. The restaurant was not busy at lunchtime. They have the same lunch and dinner menu. Our server mentioned that they are much busier during dinner time. The menu selection is extensive. We did not order a starter but rather two main courses and importantly, Naan Bread. The main courses we ordered were the Tandoori Chicken and the Chicken Biryani. At some Indian restaurants the tandoori dishes can be overcooked and dry. India Oven prepared the chicken perfectly. It was moist and came with two sauces. The Biryani was also excellent. Both main courses had generous portions. Overall, a wonderful choice for lunch or dinner. read more

We had reservations Friday at 7pm. We were seated right away. It wasn't that busy. We ordered chicken tikka masala, Punjabi goat curry, lamb saag masala, pickles (weird taste), and garlic naan. Some of naans bottom were so burnt so we sent 2 pieces back and they remade a whole naan, but a couple of pieces were still burnt. Fluffy naan. The curries were good , but could use more protein. There were so much of the sauces leftover. They were inconsistent with their spice level. Mild was a medium and medium was a mild. Staff were nice and attentive. The tandoori chicken was very dry. The butter chicken was ok along with the lentils, some of the spaces were empty. One filled with lettuce, one with pineapple. This place is The Bomb dot com. We placed an order for takeout. When we went to pick it up it ended up getting lost. But the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We decided to eat in because we were already hungry, but the food came out super fast. The manager ( I believe) treated us very well and gave us each a complimentary mango lassi for waiting. He was very polite. The restaurant itself if beautiful and well decorated with nice high ceilings. I feel like we could go here for a fancy meal out, yet I still felt comfortable in my sweatpants. The food itself was superb. Well cooked tender butter chicken in a rich flavorful curry. And spicy rich lentil curry. The buttery naan was crisp, and atop the rice and were some fresh green peas which was a nice touch. The mango Lasi was excellent. And I also ordered some Kheer to take home as well. The Kheer is delightful. Wonderful even texture with white raisins and whole cardamom seed pods. I'd never had whole cardamom seed pods before. At first I didn't know what I was eating until I took a closer look. Despite not being able to eat the whole thing I really loved the extra cardamom flavor and the texture. This place is great, I like it better than the Grass Valley location. India Oven has been a favorite for a while, but I think they outdid themselves tonight. We went to India Oven for a late lunch today and sure are glad we did. For under $50 we had delicious Indian food, with enough leftovers that dinner will be easy tonight. We had vegetable samosa with three sauces for starters. I had lamb vindaloo that came with rice, my wife had tandoori chicken. For bread we ordered the paneer naan (it's stuffed with cheese), which was great to sop up the sauces. They should be serving beer soon, so we had chai instead. The restaurant is very elegant, and staff very attentive. They are very excited opening their Auburn location; they have three or four others in the Sacramento area. We're glad to see so many new ethnic restaurants opening in Auburn and India Oven is definitely one to try. read more

We've been to the GV location dozens of times. Decided to try the auburn location to compare. This location is new and clean. It feels like a nice restaurant. Was not a positive experience-food that was available was just ok. Unusual to go to a buffet at 12:18 pm and have empty trays-no tandoori chicken, fish pakoras only had a few pieces. My basic concern is poor customer service. Asked twice for refill on the tandoori chicken/when they did they had 5 pieces only. Other people were waiting for it also. Took forever to get water and only because I went up and asked. Naan delivery has to be more efficient-table next to us was finished with their lunch when they finally got their naan unacceptable. The restaurant was not full when we came. This was our second time to try it. People at the table next to us said last time they came buffet food was cold and they had to ask it be microwaved. The food was excellent, good size portions and very tasty. We went for dinner on a Friday. Service was attentive and helpful. The place was nicely decorated and not overly noisy and very clean. They need to fix their ambiant music as it was basically a free stream on indian music off spotify so the ads/talking part was a bit distracting to me. No one else in our party of 4 mentioned about it. Since this location just opened, I'm sure a few things will get better. We have also done pick-up service a few days later and it was all great as well. We'll see if they hold up to quality and service over time but definitely check them out. It's nice to have decent, tasty and spicy Indian food with friendly service. Will update review if it changes! read more

I'm disappointed in our community that someone would come to Yelp and tear this restaurant down when they only just opened. Don't worry you guys, there will be plenty more positive reviews coming. I loved the fried paneer as I've actually never tried that at any other Indian restaurant and I've been to dozens of them over the years. The raita and mint chutney were both the best I've tried anywhere. It's a touch more expensive than Royal India in terms of portions but it's very reasonable and as much as I love Royal India, the quality of the food is a bit higher. I haven't seen the inside as I got DoorDash so I have no comments on the ambiance yet, but I will dine in soon enough! read more
