Of course it's no Patel Brothers but in terms of proximity to the university, it'll have to do. Lots of fresh veggies that never seem to run out. But in terms of stocking that's about the limit. There seem to be plenty of large bags of rice and dry spices too. However most aisles are lightly stocked and running out of packaged and frozen items. My friend introduced me to paneer patka (sp?), a frozen pancake-like item that is perfect for college students to heat up and eat in a jiffy. There were other things he just couldn't find though and even packages that had been opened and left on the shelf. There also wasn't much milk or yogurt to choose from in a single small refrigerator. At he register there were even fresh/homemade samosas. Took a few home and heated them up - they weren't bad! The guy running the register was pretty quiet and just getting the job done. Not sure if this is the owner I've read about in other reviews. He never offered much help with anything though. The store seems too big for what they stock. A few aisles were crammed and piled with fixture shelves and empty carts. They were impassible and messy but didn't have any food on them either so not a huge deal. The prices did seem steep but I don't have experience shopping at Indian stores so I can't really comment on whether or not they were normal. I would come back again with my friend if I'm in the area but there's a Patel Brothers much closer to where I live.

Fitting to the expression "good things come in small packages," Gandhi International Market is jam-packed with some great food finds from all over the world. The market provides customers with a huge selection of fresh fruits, veggies, rice and beans among other universal staples. Towards the back of the store you will find a freezer section full of delectable meats & sweets treats. After you've made all your selections make your way to the front of the store for check out. While Gandhi International Market offers standard customer service, I wasn't really wow-ed. The staff members were very pleasant and answered my numerous questions about the different cultures and foods represented in the store. But when I was ready for check out I ended up waiting in a rather long line because the store only has two working registers; not really efficient. So if you have the spare time to check out a new place, and are in the mood to try out exciting new foods, I suggest you swing by Gandhi International Market and put a little twist into your typical grocery store trip.

I never jumped up so fast and got dressed and headed out the door before in my life. Okay, I did pause to call the store and make sure they were open and it was indeed a real place. And sure enough, they were open - so off I went. This store is in a small parking lot but easy to find. Sometimes they have their store van parked in the parking lot which makes it even easier to spot from the road. The store is only 3 aisles with a back room and 4 freezers full of authentic and delicious Filipino brands but you will not be disappointed. They carry all things Goldilock brands. They even had some Filipino items that I had never been able to find before. The owners are nice and friendly - always asking if I found everything I was looking for. The store is very clean and very well organized. They also offer deliveries and you can get more information on this on their Facebook page. It looks like they break up their delivery schedules by area. You can also call in your order and they will shop for you and you can just pick up for curbside delivery. They also do a pretty good job of updating their inventory on Facebook if you are looking for something specific. I love that I can now go to one store for all things Pinoy and get what I need.

The owner was really helpful (via text) and responded right away when I was searching the day before. The fridge in the back had so many filipino goodies that I rarely see, so I couldn't help myself to a few. Would definitely come back here! To the Owner's husband... thanks for saving that big slab of pork belly for me!
