What a disappointment! My wife and I read positive reviews and went in with high hopes that we'd finally find a decent place to eat near home. We walked out lamenting that we still live so far away from good places to eat. With few exceptions, the restaurants in the Mooresville/Plainfield area are awful. The India Bistro lives down to the area's reputation. Advertised as a buffet, the bistro's cafeteria-style is disconcerting. The cafeteria trays are awful and remind you of bad lunch days in school. Having to tell the staff which of the few available dishes you would like makes you feel like an intruder and definitely discourages any return trips for more servings. The food was "eh." It was not the worst Indian cuisine I have ever had, but it was not good. Overall, the food wasteland of Plainfield/Mooresville continues to be an awful reality because of places like this. You go in with high hopes that you'll at last find a good restaurant close to home. As usual, you leave India Bistro wishing you had made the long drive to get something of quality. This place is absolutely delicious! I went for the hurry curry lunch bar and for just $8.99 (just $2.99 for kids 5 and under!) you get a lot of food. I tried the Paneer and Tikka Masala and they were out of this world. It was all so flavorful. Plus, it's beautiful to look at too. I love the owner, Richard. This is the only Indian restaurant in the Avon/Plainfield area that I'm aware of at the moment, and the food is about average. I always get chicken tikka masala and garlic naan, so this is what I use to compare restaurants. The chicken tikka is good, but the sauce is not the most flavorful I've ever had. The naan is sometimes dry or overcooked, but good when fresh. The service is great and the online ordering system works well, I've never had any issues with it. I would recommend giving this place a try if you haven't yet, and I plan to keep coming back unless another one opens up on the west side. read more

I decided to try India Bistro after noticing it while driving past. I checked their website which is pretty good and also saw good reviews. The gentleman (possibly owner) greeted me warmly and took a couple minutes to explain how they do things: basically, it's semi self serve which means you get your plate, silverware, etc and they bring the food after you order at the front. I liked this setup; seemed more casual and better for me as I was by myself. I had the chicken vindaloo (hot), naan, and raita. Came with a side of white rice. I doubt I know a bad curry from a good one, but everything was delicious! It was served in very nice bowls which made presentation more appealing. Portion sizes were just right, about 1.5 cups on each item, and 4 quarters of naan. I didn't like having to clean up like a fast food place, but I will gladly do this if it controls their cost and keeps the place profitable. Total price was $16. Bit steep, but oh well. Owner did mention that they have a lunch deal daily where you can pick 5 items from a buffet. Price is $7 or so. Sounds like a good deal. All in all, very satisfied. Let me start by saying the wife and I frequent many Indian retaraunts and this one fell a little short. After dropping our boy boy and his friend at Sky zone we decided to look for an Indian place we hadn't tried. A friend of the wife's had told her about India Bistro so we decided to stop by while the boys jumped around. After entering the restaurant and seeing that the buffet was served to you I was skeptical. After seeing the dishes they were serving I decided to order from the menu as did my wife. Should have left. the samosas strangely tasted like pancakes without the syrup. My wife's dish of tomatoes and vegetable fritters was like a bowl of Campbell's tomato soup with some soggy potato balls. Very dissapoining all around. Visiting family in Plainfield, Indiana, I wasn't expecting an Indian restaurant in the area. I especially wasn't expecting a Indian restaurant with food that provided a serious kick. I went during lunch hours. Indian Bistro had a staffed-served buffet going on so I was greeted by a gentleman. Being that I was taking out, I was allowed to order from then menu. Chicken vindaloo and chicken masala is what I ordered, both hot. Both were delicious! If you want to be picky, the sauces could have a bit more spice complexity, but they're good, and the chicken was high quality and tender. The entrees are served with rice (naan is extra). read more

Stopped here for lunch today. I had the Hurry Curry lunch buffet. They had a nice assortment of dishes. I tried the Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Bhura(?), Rice, spring rolls. Everything was delicious! These are served from a counter onto a single tray with separate compartments. This is a great concept that keeps the dishes from running together and cuts down on waste. I was on my lunch break and the portions were perfect and I was able to have a quick, great lunch for a good price that wasn't fast food. Recommend. read more

Everything I tried from the buffet tasted pretty good. Everything in the buffet is on the safe side spice wise, as you might expect. Is true you get served on a cafeteria tray but if you care about the food more than how it is served you can hardly complain about what you get for the price. Fine for a quick bite. But nowhere near authentic. The lamb was tough in the lamb curry. The chicken was too dry, other pieces seemed almost uncooked. Garlic Naan was the best part of the meal. I enjoy coming here for lunch! They have a really good lunch deal going on, $7.99 for lunch buffet. Super cheap for some good Indian food. You can pick 5 items for your tray then, they bring you some naan bread. That is a lot of food for the price. Well worth it. I get more for my money during lunch than dinner. read more

So happy to see Indian Bistro in Plainfield! I noticed it the last week of July and got the Aloo Mutter, potatoes and peas in a delicious sauce, tastes so yummy with the rice and naan, I had three meals out of it. This will be a regular stop for me as I want to try everything else on the veggie menu! This is a small place in plainfield. Serves only buffet and the prices are good. They have enough dishes on the menu. I hope they taste a little better. Delicious! I've loved everything I've tried. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free friendly. The staff is really nice, they even gave us a free appetizer the first times we dined in. Lots of options to please anyone with tastebuds. I'm a huge fan of the vegetable korma, raita, and chutney and their roti and naan are fantastic. I always ask for them to make my entrees spicier and they do a great job. Even when I leave the Plainfield area I know I'll be going out of my way to come back and eat there, it's just that good. read more
