Bad experience at checkout. The cashier showed a very poor attitude when I placed a fish packet (sold by the store) on the counter. She appeared uncomfortable touching it, possibly because she is vegetarian, and tried awkwardly grabbing it using a plastic bag. She then refused to scan it until the very end and eventually called another cashier from a different counter to handle it for her -- all while I and several customers behind me were waiting. The other cashier who helped her looked at her in disbelief. If handling store products is a problem, this role may not be appropriate, especially when gloves are already being worn. This behavior was unprofessional and unnecessarily delayed everyone in line. read more

I was getting into Indian cuisine, so I wanted to cook some dishes at home. India Bazaar has all the Indian spices, ingredients, and produce that you might need for an Indian meal. There were so many items, and it was fun browsing through all the aisles. I found the naan section, and they have so many different brands that I wasn't sure what to get. I decided to grab two just to try them out. They also sell paneer, mango lassi, yogurt drinks, and other snacks here. Their produce section was a disappointment. The cauliflower I found was cheaper than 99 Ranch and Walmart, but I picked up 3 different ones and they were all moldy. They didn't turn on the AC either, so it was hot shopping with 100+ degrees weather outside. I found the spices I need to cook gobi manchurian, and also some curry spices that I couldn't find at 99 Ranch. I'll drop by here again if I need to restock, but definitely make it a quick trip because I was sweating after leaving the store. read more

Plano, Spring Creek location. This store needs re- organization of Aisles. I was shopping at the store on a weekday, there were maybe 10 customers around 12: 30 p.m. The other 2 customers with big carts and I was constantly banging into each other, due to the isle setup and narrow space. I don't understand why they have Shelves placed right across the cashiers, Can someone please have them set up the store with a vertical aisle setup instead of a horizontal way, I can image the store on the weekend, where lines go beyond the freezer doors . can't even tell where it ends. I wish the city of Plano could inspect this store. This is a hazardous shopping place. read more

India Bazaar Supermarket - Bugs in Lentils I bought 3-4 different kind of lentils from India Bazaar, Spring Creek on Friday 3/13. Yesterday l was cleaning one of the lentils bag and found a live pantry beetles (also called weevils or ghuns) in the bag. We took it back to India Bazaar and showed the beetles to the cashier and told her we wanted to return all the lentils. She told us that there is no returns or any refunds. We asked to see the store manager who was also not interested of our concerns and she walked backed to her office without helping us. As they were not helpful we left all the lentils at their shop. My only hope is that they don't restock. We have informed the health department. Please be careful when you buy from India Bazaar. We will never shop at this place again. read more

I've been shopping at IB for a few years now. I read the reviews and agree with both the negative and positive feedback. I purchase the large bags of basmati rice here, the price for a 10 lb bag is the same as purchasing a small bag/jar at other grocery stores. The produce is priced well however it's not always the freshest. I love the frozen samosa's and naan, always a good price and the quality is good. The staff is hit or miss. Most of the time it's a miss, the young women at the registers are not always friendly, there is definitely room for improvement. Whenever I have questions on items I'll ask fellow customers instead of staff. read more

India Bazaar is where I go to get the freshest vegetables every week. Their prices are always the lowest compared to other stores and they do a great job restocking. I also like to get my special spices from here and few other Indian goods like sweets, yogurt, paratha/naan (flatbread) etc. I've noticed that mostly all their products are priced lower than other competitors like Indo Pak Grocery, Patel Brothers or Taj Grocers (now Subzi Mandi). By signing up for their rewards, you can also earn credits for future purchases. I believe there are seven India Bazaar locations in the DFW. So if you're looking for the best quality vegetables and lowest prices, you need to checkout India Bazaar. With so many locations, there's most likely one conveniently located close to you. This one on Spring Creek has the widest variety of vegetables which is why I like going here. Customer service is a bit below average but I am not bothered by it since I always make it a quick trip. read more

It's worth the trip to Spring Creek to go to this India Bazaar. It's larger than the one close to my home & I can always find items that my store runs out of or can't keep in stock. The one particular item I was shopping for today was the dark soy sauce, it's so mush better & tastier than the American version. I also like the tiny, mixed peppers that are only .69 cents a lb. On this trip we found some cauliflower for $1.69 a head & some baby Yukon's for .69 cents a lb. The fresh dill, parsley & cilantro are always good deal. Can't wait to make some yummy stir-fries this week. read more

I tagged along on grocery day with my parents. When they go grocery shopping, my dad has this tendency to hit like 2 or 3 stores in one day -_- Anyway we've been loyal customers of IB for a while. They have a membership card which offers discounting after spending certain amounts. They have a wide selection of veggies, frozen goods, pantry items, grains, dry goods, and of course spices. (They don't have a butcher area, btw.) This store used to be really gross and dirty and had a random vegetarian café in the middle of it. Thankfully, they've recently cleaned up and organized the place and moved the café to what is now Rajula's Kitchen across the lot. A year or two ago, I would've given this place 3 stars, but added one back now that it's a lot more clean and organized! There's a really wide selection of Asian veggies as well as more commonly known stuff like okra, squash, spinach, etc. They are priced really well. Onions are regularly only $0.39/lb. The dry goods and spices are excellently priced - I buy my black tea bags from here (orange pekoe tea, 216 bags ONLY $5.99, yeah take that Tazo, Teavana, etc!) Definitely drop by for a visit! read more

I bought Alphonso mangoes for $38 and they were firm from outside and all rotten from inside. They refused to return or exchange. All American grocery stores allow returns when bad quality stuff is given. Even HMART does but they refused. Never buy Indian mangoes from there. They know their mangoes are bad as they are adding a $5 protection plan for it. They don't refrigerate the mangoes, which is a health hazard. read more

I could not find the seasoning section ask a lady for help finding lemon pepper. She walks up to the manager "who looked like a homeless person btw" and he legit looked me up and down. *** Price Gouging *** This used to be a small store at the corner of Spring Creek and Alma. They have now expanded their store to double their size and they have another store in Irving as well. The main reason for giving 1 star is due to their pricing on items they sell. Many of the items have a price printed by the manufacturer, but they put a sticker on top of it and show a different price all together. You can see this very blatantly on some of the Frozen items. Once an item becomes popular among patrons, these guys immediately raise the price. read more

The worst place to go for groceries the customer service is horrible the price stickers and the POS Prices don't match and when you show them the sticker the manger argues with you and yells at you that you are wrong and then when you bring the sticker to her then she still argues with pulls the stickers off and says it was wrong price so please check the prices before you buy. read more

I bought Banaganappali mangoes (for $27)from this shop and within 2 hours, when i went back to return the original package(not even touched . They didn't accept the returns. If they are not going to accept returns, they should inform the customer prior to the purchase. No shop ever does this cheating. read more

After growing up in Plano for years and years on end, I was pleasantly surprised to find this supermarket. You know it's a great destination for your Indian needs when the local Indian community shops here. Upon entering, I was greeted by the aromatic smell of different curries and spices. This place has great selections but some of the vegetables are not properly rotated and show signs of rot. Some things are overpriced and other things are super cheap. The one must buy is the Spanish saffron! Bought a whole ounce for only $69.99 at the time. If you tried to buy that much at whole foods or another area that sells gourmet spices, it would literally cost you around 1000. You only get .01 to .03 oz for 12 to 16 dollars. But this place sells various amounts for insanely low prices. I'm a chef and I know real saffron. This is not really grade 1 Spanish saffron but it's very close. It's a little bit lighter than superior saffron but is perfect for the price. Amazon sells this same brand for just under 100. So you are getting a great deal here. I recommend this grocery store if you're looking for produce as well as spices. Definitely the go to spot anywhere in Dallas if you want cheap, bulk spices! Pros: + Fresh produce - I love how they sell red, yellow, and orange peppers for a fraction of the price you can get in other groceries + Large selection of spices - of course they've got tons of Indian spices. The best part, they're much cheaper since they tend to send them in bulk. If you're looking to try out a new spice, it might not be the best to grab an entire packet. However, if you know what spices you tend to use a lot, it's worth buying a large packet of them. + Fast food - they've got a food stand that serves Indian street food. This is a pretty good indian grocery store for the DFW area. Prices are decent and everything is well laid out. They also expanded recently from what I've seen. Vegetables are moderately fresh, though I'd be weary while picking up vegetables. I saw a lot of people hunting around for the good stuff and dropping vegetables on the ground, bruising them and putting them back...probably happens at grocery stores but I saw it a lot here. All of the packed items are at a good price and everything is really well organized. I mainly come here to get packaged dal and pick up spices. Their spice aisle close to the cashier is very comprehensive. The snack bar is pretty decent, aloo tikki isn't bad. But when I come here in the summer they have a couple of flies buzzing around the tables inside which really bugs me. The ladies at the counters are generally nice but some of them can be pretty rude somethings. Overall a good place and I come here to get what I need and leave. read more

You know it's good when the place is completely packed with Indians. Whenever I'm in a store like this I'm always sneaking looks into other peoples' carts to try to figure out what people in the know like to buy, since I'm pretty clueless. This place isn't huge like Asia World or Ranch 99, but it's a comprehensive Indian grocery store with all the spices and rice and snacks and frozen food and produce that you could want. It's also pretty clean, smells fine, and has pretty good customer service. There is a little express cafe inside that does a brisk business and has a few tables you can sit and eat at. I actually wasn't a fan of their daal (too salty) but the chapati was good and it looked like people loved the chaat (snacks) and drinks that they offer. read more

This is our first trip to this India Bazaar in Plano, which seems larger than the one we usually go to in Richardson. We love Indian Bazaar, for its dizzying selection of spices and unusual ingredients, all at reasonable prices and in a clean and organized store environment. Today we came only for my fave Zebra Brand basmati rice, and left with 5 boxes of curry, 2 pouches of ready-to-eat dal murkhani, a copule of chutney mixes, 3 frozen chicken tikka masala entrees (on sale) and some Kheer mix. Obviously, impulse buys at India Bazaar are an issue for me, but everything here is so interesting and delicious that I never get out of here for less than $70. I love this store. I no longer live in Plano and hence miss visiting this family run store. Kishore Bhai, his wife and son are terrific and friendly with tips and information. The hindi movie videos at $1 are a great use and throw value. The need to adda good chaat stand and improve the variety of the food items. I like this store. Reasonable prices, fresh indian veggies, indian snacks, pickles... what not. Customer care and the staff take a very good care of the customers. And I really enjoy shopping there and getting $20 off sometimes. They give 5/10% discounts for indian festivals, that's really interesting. read more
