Let me say that I totally enjoyed my experience at Independence Ranch. I actually won the hunt almost a year and a half earlier. Having a quite busy personal schedule, I didn't go until the last minute of the period I could use the hunt. There are some things you need to know before coming here. Be very sure of your targets as they have exotics there that I'd never see this side of Africa or the zoo. During a night hunt the first visitor was a large elk. I snapped a few pictures and kicked back, waiting for the pigs to come. What did come was deer and antelope. I ended up with a small heard of about 20 animals of different species chewing on the corn they put out to draw in the pigs. To be honest, I've been a hunter almost 50 years and never seen anything like this before. I have slept with Roosevelt Elk in Northern California but such abundant species is unique in one location. I was here for pigs exclusively but didn't really take any on the first night's hunt. They did show up towards the end of the hunting period but were out of range for the conventional flashlight I had. If you have night vision capabilities, bring it for the night hunt or at the least have a fairly powerful red or green flashlight in your possession. An Ebay search for a hunting flashlight greatly improved my capabilities for night hunting. The second day I signed up for the honey hole. I'm a portly fellow just over 60. I could have done the walk hunt, but really, if someone is pushing the game for you and you can sit back and relax while the game is coming your way, why not! To get to the honey hole couldn't have been easier as once you've driven to a staging area close to the honey hole, you get a ride in one of their ATV's to your blind. It didn't take long and there was activity. I shot two good size pigs and one piglet there. I could have shot a lot more but thought I was at the end of my meat processing budget. Getting the pigs out of the bush was very easy as they picked them up and put them on a flatbed trailer being towed behind an ATV. One of the pigs I shot had something wrong with it. They didn't count that pig in the poundage for the hunt, which was very good, but also disappointing. I had thought I had much more meat to take home and didn't check on my poundage results before the evening hunt. Had I had checked, I would have gone for the second day evening hunt. Instead, I went off on another adventure in the historic town of Gonzales. If you treasure history and want to see the "Come and Take It" cannon that got Texas started, there is a Museum that you must see. There were two cannons that were a focal point of the Texas Revolution. One of these guns still exist and is housed in a museum in Gonzales. You will also see other historical items there as well. When you go to downtown Gonzales, you will find a statue honoring the men that fought for the State of Texas in the Civil War. There are many that wish to erase history. I recommend seeing these things before they try and come and take it as they recently did in Dallas. They also have a movie show house next the statue so you can also take in a movie while in town should you wish to. The cabin I stayed at had four bunks and ample room for four men. I was quite happy to see it was air conditioned as it was closer to the heat of summer when I did my hunt. It was a bit of a walk to the outhouse but found that there were ample stalls for all needs. Yes, bring your towel! The main building where breakfast, lunch and dinner was served was very comfortable and you'll find many likeminded hunters to socialize with. They were not kidding when they said the food was good. They also weren't kidding when they said to be on time either! I spent a bit too long freshening up after the hunt and was a bit tarty to lunch but was fortunate to have got some food. There's a lot of food available at the start of the meal but they go though it like a buzz saw. Lots of homemade grub here and it was quite good going down. Seems they always had coffee or something to drink even in the off hours from meal times. This place is an excellent choice for first time hunters as well as those that enjoy having multiple opportunities. Processing the game couldn't be easier as they do it. Bring large ice chests as you will be needing them. To be honest, I found iron sites to be just fine for what I was doing and really didn't need long range scopes. Night vision would be nice but really isn't necessary with either as a strong green or red flashlight to aluminate the target. Fight the urge for the long difficult shot as a clean close quarter shot will present itself when hunting here. They certainly did at the honey hole. Would I like to do it again? YES! I wasn't initially going to write a bad review but when I just found out that a hunter was killed in a shooting accident just days after I left I felt obligated. I can't begin to express how unhappy I was with this ranch. It isn't wild hog hunting rather a cash cow, cram as many hunters in as possible, amusement park for in-experienced hunters. The hogs aren't wild to the ranch, rather purchased from trappers and released for hunters to shoot like fish in a barrel. It is the only way to sustain this business model where at any given time dozens of hunters are shooting hogs on this very small ranch. I was appalled at the lack of safety on this ranch. During our very brief orientation we were told that we need to text one of the ranch hands when we leave our blind because there was an incident a few days before where someone ended up in the emergency room. When I text the ranch hand that we were leaving our blind he sent a thumbs up emoji back! What the hell did that accomplish in the way of safety?? The following morning we elected to pay an extra $50 per man to sit in the "honey hole" instead of taking the 12 mile hike where pigs are hunted like upland game birds.Those are the only options, walk or pay. We were just told to take a seat at any of the random folding chairs sitting in the middle of a forest. In my group of 4 not a single one of us knew where the other hunters were in our group. We did not know North from South, East from West. We did not know how many other hunters were in the "honey hole". We did not know where the walkers were or which way they were going. We were told they would be flushing the pigs to us, thats why its called the honey hole. The best part of the whole thing is the remark from the owners son Matt. When he dropped us off he said breakfast is at 9am, so I asked when he was picking us up?His answer was "if your ovaries are swollen give me a call and Ill come get you." We had no fucking idea where we were or where to go. We didn't know if other hunters would be shooting at us!!! They claim something like 13 exotics were shot last hear by inexperienced hunters who shot first, thought second. I wasn't about to walk my ass through a group of dumb ass hunters and get killed. Our experience after breakfast was even worse. Matt told us to just go back where we were, we know our way around now.NO WE DIDN'T!! The only navigational aids they give you are a Youtube link to a video of them driving around the ranch. Well guess what? I didn't have shit for service to watch the videos. A map would have gone along way and potentially save a life. I love that they expect you to bring 100 lbs of corn per person or pay $30 each for bait corn. I drove 1200 miles in a fully loaded pickup, with 4 guys. There was no room for 400 lbs of corn. In the 2 nights that we hunted in front of the bait corn I'd estimate the 4 of us had maybe 20 to 50 pounds total of that corn put out in front of us. What corn was there quickly was eaten by all the nuisance exotic deer, cattle, or the damn water buffalo. These animals are so tame it would be like shooting a pet dog if you were to hunt one. We were throwing rocks at them to get them to leave and they wouldn't. They charged a guy I think $1500 to shoot a ram that literally came up 2ft from us while we were hunting. At night they would lay down outside our cabin. I know its just a matter of time before someone else gets killed on this ranch. I just hope this review might save someones life read more

I just returned from my trip to the Ranch. It was my 2nd trip in the past 2 years. My first trip I took my 20 year old stepson and we had a ball. This trip was my cousin and once again we had a great trip. I have been hunting for 50 years and been all over the US and several places outside the US. I have killed over 50 hogs in GA on our property. This is a Ranch and you see lots of hogs and other animals while hunting and driving through. I don't understand some of the reviews and people being upset about what their experience is. If you read the website, then you know exactly what to bring and how much everything cost and pretty much what to expect when you arrive. This is a different experience and yes it's a good experience for the new hunter to see lots of animals and have a great opportunity to harvest a hog while you are here. There a several different hunting experience on the ranch from sitting in a box blind, to walking and yes sitting in the Honey Hole in a chair down in the swamp. I suggest you experience all 3 while there. You bring your own corn and it's spread out in the evening by the staff and this enables you to see lots of wildlife and a better chance of hogs coming in to get a shot. The lodge is just perfect. It's not the Ritz, it's a hunting camp/ranch. This is not a $10000 dollar hunt where you get waited on hand and foot and there is only 5 people there hunting. It's a Ranch with 25 to 35 hunters hunting and lots of different staff there to help. Let's talk about the staff. First the food is awesome. We never ate the same thing twice for lunch and dinner and the breakfast was just great. Plenty of food and the dinner staff all did a great job. As for the staff that is there to assist you with your hunt and clean and take care of your game, they were spot on. Steve is a character and my cousin Ryan and I stood and talked to him several times for 10 minutes or so and was always able to answer any question. Matt and they other guys riding around picking up your hogs and then cleaning and putting your meat in the coolers worked hard the whole time. Yes there might be a mix up with something but if you check things and ask for help, all is taken care of. On my first trip we shot 4 hogs and 2 rams. Everything was done perfect and our rams were left there and the local Taxidermy need a great job. As for the Ranch owner Paul, we set with him 2 different times and ate and talked about anything and everything and really not about hunting or the ranch. When we got ready to check out on Saturday morning, we meet with Paul one last time and yes he got money from us for our stay. That's how a business works. You provide a service and you collect money for that service. As a consumer if something is not they way you thought should be, then ask questions and communicate and Paul and the staff will help you. I will be back next year or the year after. It's a great experience and we had 14 hour drive there and back. What a road trip it was. That's all part of the experience. Sit by the camp fire at night and talk to and meet your fellow hunters. Sit at the table with people you don't know and talk and share stories. If you want to experience something different, meet new people and have a good time, this is for you. Went on a hog hunt here from 3/11-3/13 what a disappointment. The owner Paul has some serious business issues and is driven on income instead of safety. Flew from out of town with high expectations. Paid for a 3 day hunt for $350. Upon arrival for check in at 3pm on Friday. We paid our $100 guide fee and then we were hit with a 100 lb per hunter corn deposit for baiting which was hidden in the website, . Our first night hunt started at 6 pm and ended at 945 pm in ground blinds. This property is so small (200 acres I believe) that they had hunters on top of one another, very uncomfortable feeling. The bait truck came through and maybe dropped 1/2 bag if we were lucky, of this powder corn which we never saw a hog on but all the other livestock even the owners horses came through to eat. Next morning we were sent back to our same stand from the night before at 630 am till 845. Didn't get anymore bait set just bare ground from all the other animals. After breakfast which the cooks did a great job. We started our guided hunt. What a joke the owner came out split us into two groups on different sides of the property and told us to walk that side of the property to a red line painted on trees , where they had swamp best place on the property but get ready to pay for a 50 fee per hunter to get a spot in there. The website said 12 mile hike, not even close. More like a mile or so. We did see some hogs on this hunt and shot a couple but they also have farm pigs to, instead of taking the farm pigs we shot the actual boars which was a 100 and two under 50, clean shots very little meat wasted we thought. After a few phone calls and almost a hour a kid showed up for the hogs (he was eating lunch to busy). Upon returning to the ranch maybe another hour he pigs were still in the back of the truck. Guts still in them in 80 degree heat. After my brother showed some disgust they put them in the shade still not gutted. After switching blinds for a night hunt which you have to look up on you tube to get to your spot still haven't seen a guide yet, we had to call for bait to be put out. Even less then the first day, once again no pigs, but all the other exotics. Next morning same spot same outcome. After breakfast the owner told us we were done, what we only got a 1 full day of hunting in on a 3 day hunt. The owner very anti social until he wants money actually talked to us, he asked for 50 per hunter for tip for guide and cooks. What a joke after paying a 1/ lb skinning fee which don't plan on saving the cape, a guide service that doesn't exist and a staff that doesn't even acknowledge your existence your more of a nuisance. Save your self a lot of money and GO ELSEWHERE. Luckily we had a good group of hunters that made the trip a good time, don't plan on the owner or staff talking to you. And Paul your welcome for the remainder of 200+ lbs of corn we didn't feel like arguing over. Hope your horses eat well. On checking out we got 3 pigs back but not ours, they misplaced ours, we received 2 pigs that were gut shot and 2 hams from another pig to make up the poundage they had lost. Summary-Had a great time at Independence Ranch. I'm sure you will too. Everything is on the website info wise. Staff is there to help. This is a pretty "plug and play" trip. The Ranch handles everything for you from food, lodging, campfires, animal recovery/field dressing/butchering/packaging. You need to bring you firearm, ammo, clothes, cash (for expenses like guide fee/butchering) and maybe beer for after hunts are done. They got the rest. Everything is thought out, this isn't their first Rodeo. (See how I worked Texas into it) We studied the website and everything makes complete sense when you get there. We drove 1200 miles one way just to come here and were not disappointed. Long version- Went Feb. 2022. Wild Hog hunting is something I've wanted to do since a teenager. After the crazy of the Pandemic, I decided it's time. I bought a 2 person, 3 day hunt w/ private lodging online and decided to invite my adult son. We both had a great time. Everything is scheduled to maximize YOUR time hunting. You can take advantage of all the available hunts or skip time slots if you want more downtime or done harvesting hogs for day. Paul and his staff are helpful and there to serve. They are a "machine" and I mean that in a good way. It seemed very organized (yet still personal). The lead guides give you your blind locations and they are also posted on back of Lodge door in case you forget. Map in Lodge too. Blinds are all over the Ranch and fairly easy to find if you follow directions. We were also given video direction which sound hokey but were really awesome. Food was excellent and private lodging was more than adequate. My Son and I each took a 100# hog. We actually meant to take more and it was our fault from not taking shots to poor noise discipline scaring them away. There are plenty of hogs to take. Don't be shy. Butcher-I loved the fact they recover your hogs then butcher them for you. You literally drop off cooler after safety brief first day and pick it up full of your meat on way out. So easy. Saved having to drag butchering stuff with us. Questions on the forums and such seem to revolve around the butcher fees. I thought they were super fair for what you got. At the time I went in Feb 2022, it was $1 a pound live weight of your hog. That's from shot in the field to quartered on ice in your cooler. There is an upcharge to have it turned into sausage. I would recommend getting some sausage, we liked the chorizo and the pineapple something best. Costs- These are all spelled out on website, so you know it upfront. There is a guide fee paid at check in/initial safety brief and suggested gratuity at end. Then butcher fees for however many hogs you take Lbs wise. Few bucks for Ice. Just bring cash, couple hundred. Also don't forget, you'll need to bring some bagged cracked corn per hunter. Walmart in town sells it. If you're on the fence just do it. We had a great time and purchased 2 more and won one of their monthly drawings since. We are considering making this a yearly "family and friends" guys trip. Thanks for reading. read more

Took 4 of us on the 2 night 3 day trip and shot 14 pigs ranging from 80 /90 to over 200 lbs each, Total of 1460 Lbs. Saw a lot of other goats, deer and exotics free ranging some very close, almost pet like animals, guess very use to the number of humans that they encounter daily. As a first time pig hunter I had a good experience with my sons and one's father in-law. A few things i saw that bothered me , the smell and the number of dead pigs that were laying around on the ground rotting ,either from being wounded and ran off or nobody claimed because of the cost. The corn they put out for night hunts gets eaten by his cows and deer, what little is left the pigs come in after. Being that its only about 250 acres ,the weekend trip we were at had 39 total hunters, split into an A & B groups. Granted everyone wears florescent orange , and are told to shoot and stay within their blind lanes , i was a little concerned at times when i saw some orange off in the direction i was to shoot at?? Overall we saw a lot of pigs, it seemed expensive to me ,we did buy a 1000 lb lot for $750, but as i noted we went over by 460 lbs, easy to do when you have some 500 pigs at one time on 250 acres with an enclosed high fence. Paul is a businessman and he's found a nitch , the food help, and hospitality are good for a hunting lodge environment. Independence Ranch has a strikingly picturesque setting. Both of my children have successfuly hunted on the property. We had the pleasure of having an amazing group of hunters amongst us on this last hunt. There was a hunter there that we jokingly referred to as "that guy" the one that had zero hunting experience, but had seen ALL the videos on YouTube, had no knowledge of how and when the sun rose and set or which way west was. I was slightly concerned when he suggested he would do the walk n stalk but was pleasantly satisfied when a ranch hand spoke up and gently urged that he may have better luck in a different location which he happily conceded was the better choice. The food.......we would have been satisfied with PB&J and grilled cheese.....but not even close. Chef was astounding, we were BEYOND impressed. He took pride in his food and it showed, he would walk around and talk to all of us while we ate asking our opinions on his creations. Steve and Matt were incredible guides and go to guys. They all joined us at the campfire after a day of hunting, told stories with us and took the experience up another notch. Ground crews broke the water line multiple times while we were there, without missing a beat the problem was found and fixed. Making it a true "life on a ranch" experience. Already saving up for the next trip, ironically we are putting the money in a pig calling it our butcher bank. read more

My son and just got back from a 3 day hunt with Paul and the staff at Independence ranch. We had a great time. The bunkhouse accommodations were comfortable and clean. The cook and meals were fantastic. I read some other reviews that complained the staff not being friendly, BS, they were great, very engaging, fun to talk to and all of them were very friendly to both me and my son. The hunts were about what I expected, the staff baited the area with the corn we had brought about a half hour prior to our hunt.. We had a lot of exotics (Black Bucks, Red Stag and oyhers)show on the first evening hunt which were fun to watch. Some nice hogs showed up later near dark. The next morning wwe went back to the same blind with out mch activity. The rest of our hunts were great lots of hogs of many sizes (ALL WILD HOGS, I SAW NO "FARM HOGS"). We shot 5 hogs, none huge but all good eating size. The staff gamejust minumtes after we called to pick up the dead piggies. They were tagged and in the frezzerin good time. We had no issues at check out, no "surprise fees or unexpected demands. Everything was well detailed in the website and FAQs (including need to bring bait) I read all the information before I signed up for the hunt - something everyone should do beforebitghing about the rulesthey agreed to. Where do I start? We did a 3 day pig hunt my dad and I out at the Independence Ranch. We got settled in room assignments and told the game plan right away. Note to self for next time if you want sausage made tell the man at the time of pick up from the hog. (We missed that part... too excited to shoot some hogs) so we ended up picking up a few packages of sausages from the ranch to try. Not a huge deal but a little bummed out we didn't remember. Once again our fault not the guys at the ranch. Paul the owner was a straight forward guy along with Matt. These guys don't coddle you and they want safety on the land first and foremost ( do you blame them?) excellent service from the top down. Ranch boss Paul was a good guy talks to everyone on the land. The Cook Chris? (I am bad with names) he would come and ask how everything was and even helped out when someone was allergic. The food was amazing no complaints at all. Everyone on staff was amazing. Day two we had Bobby helping us and he was giving hints and coming out grabbing our pigs that guy made the trip. All of the staff once again was awesome not one complaint from the trip. If you get a pig hunt and you don't get a pig.... you can add in the rest. I was very fortunate I won this trip to Independent Ranch and my daughter decided to go with me to spend time with me we arrived on a Tuesday on our first day of the hunt we both got Hogs and she shot her first hog ever at first there was a little misunderstanding how things I thought how things were done but Matt explained everything to me on the second day we signed up for the honey hole and that matt us in a good spot because I wanted to use my crossbow at first the Hogs were going around back of us and it wasn't getting any good shots then all of a sudden me and my daughter look to the right we saw this red hog land probably 60 to 70 lb looked it us and decided to charge I raise the crossbow and just at the right time I shot and hit him in the head and the arrow broke up the hog ran by me and ran up the fence line shaking his head now that might sound a little vain but the most important thing about it to me was what my daughter said to me is that I stood my ground and I didn't move and that meant a lot to me it wouldn't have mattered if I shot a 400 pound hog that day thing is I got to spend time with my daughter and we had a great time Matt Steve Wild Bill and everybody at independent Ranch make sure we had a great time and that hot was a success the food was great we hope in about a year that will be able to go back again but maybe take the whole family read more

If I could rate 0 stars, I would. I am an avid, experienced hunter and have been on countless hog/deer/exotics/big game/bird hunts over the years. I have never come across such a corrupt, disgusting so-called "hunting" establishment. "Ranch Boss" Paul is the rudest, most unprofessional, unethical person I have ever spoken with. These guys literally treat you like you are a filthy hog. The contract required to step foot on the property contains a provision that no negative reviews will be made online. Do not believe any positive reviews about this corrupt establishment! This place is a complete scam that preys on charitable organizations. They donate (tax write offs) and give away "free" hunts, but then charge the guests astronomical fees that are only payable in cash with no receipts (tax evasion). Whatever you do, do not ask normal, basic, relevant questions about the hunt or accommodations, unless you want to be yelled at condescendingly. This place needs to be reported and investigated by the IRS, TPWD, and every other applicable agency. Do your research. The attorney general has previously shut this ranch down (under a different name) for deceptive trade practices, and needs to again FOR GOOD. Absolute SCAM. Took a trip to Independence with some of my buddies for a hog hunt. Amazing time! The hunt was as advertised with no hidden fees. Shot 2 hogs, 69 lbs and 112 lbs and brought home about 65 lbs of meat for the freezer. Lost a shoulder and a section of ribs. All about shot placement. Met some great people, food was excellent, accomodations were perfect (it's a ranch, not a hotel) staff was very accomodating and there were plenty of hogs. There are plenty of exotics roaming the ranch which is different, but interresting. There was a $100 cash guide fee when you get there. The hunt is semi-guided, meaning the guides explain where you will be hunting and pick up your hogs when you shoot them. Tip was optional at the end and if you so choose to tip, it gets divided between the staff. The staff vouched for that. The only thing that could have made this trip better would have been a discount of some sorts for military personnel. Looking forward to recieving my shoulder mount by Pablo Pigcasso (Paul's Son). I was actually given a recommendation to have him do it from a friend I trust in the business. Anyway, great time and will be back next year! read more

I took my 12-yr old son on his first hunt here (3-day/2-night package), and it was a fantastic experience. The staff, food and accommodations were all great. Some locations/stands are better than others, and I'll probably bring a couple of rifles next time (one with a scope and one without). You may find yourself shooting at a distance of up to 100 yards or no more than 15 yards--depending upon where you're placed. So, it'll help to prepare accordingly. The ranch imposes strict rules around shooting lanes, ammo capacity, caliber minimums, areas where firearms are/aren't allowed, etc. This is arguably a little restrictive, but it does help to ensure a safe experience for everyone. The Honey Hole is definitely worth the extra $, and bring plenty of that ($$). You'll need it for all the hog meat you'll most certainly harvest! I couldn't count the number of pigs we saw. Ranch Boss runs a tight ship. Everything is well organized and well coordinated--from the time you check in to the time you check out. You will have a great time at Independence Ranch! read more

If you want to experience wild hog hunting, Independence Ranch is the place! My boys and I have been twice, traveling all the way from California. Both trips were fantastic. My son killed a 180lb boar this past March. It's was huge. The food is plentiful and very good - don't be late for the chow line though - after one of the hunts everyone is famished so if you snooze you lose. The bunkhouse sleeping quarters are comfortable. But the best is the hunting experience, whether from a blind, a spot n stalk, or the coveted Honey Hole. If it's your first trip go to the Honey Hole. Be prepared to see dozens & dozens of wild hogs. All retrieval, cleaning, quartering and freezing is done on site. They just opened a processing plant so now you can have sausages made on the spot. Can't wait to try that on my next trip. Book your trip, it is worth it. Especially if you've never taken a wild hog or you want a new hunter to experience lots of opportunities to harvest a wild hog. Tim, my brother and I just returned home from a 3 day 2 night hunt at Independence Ranch we had an extremely excellent time there. excellent hunting, excellent cabin, excellent food, the staff was professionals and friendly. They pride themselves on safety and believe me the way they setup your hunt, you will be safe! Steve their head honcho that sets up your hunt is stern and he has to be for your safety is an excellent guide, do not think that he will sugar coat anything! Just put down your electronic devices, your in the woods sugar do woodsy things. For those complaining about the different costs of things you should of done your research and read everything! It is all well worth it! We also made friends with some other hunters that came from Pennsylvania, some of the best guys you'd ever cross paths with and hope to see them again someday! It gets better each time!!!!! On my Third trip to Independence Ranch this year we were treated like family Paul As usual exceeded our expectations! Matt (The Hog Man) was on point the whole trip, you want to see how a ranch is run properly then you need to deal with the best! The lodging has great Air conditioning and all of the luxuries of home Lazy Boy Chairs and big screen TV's, Oh yeah!!! The food was fantastic as usual, and the desserts are way too GOOD!!! Now in order to actually rate the hunting situation, We would need to have a 6-Star option!! Yes, it's that good! There were so many hogs we had a tough time choosing what hog to shoot!!! The staff was amazing they were very helpful and nice. The ranch boss was there to give us orientation and durning chow times but that was about it. The ranch is cash only and that does make it a little inconvenient. I had a good time and I would only really change is the night hunt time it's starts at 630 and if your not equipped to night hunt your only getting about an hour and a half of hunt time. You will pay 100 bucks just showing up for a staff/guide fee. The guide will take you out but the first big hog you see you have to shoot regardless of how big it is. And your paying a dollar a pound so 500 pound hog is going to coast 500 bucks. There are allot of pigs average size is about 60 pounds I did see a few come in that where 275 and 175. The honey hole is good if you don't want to walk the only difference is that they don't bait it like they do you're night hunt. But the biggest hogs shot where when you did the walk hunt and again there was no staff walking with you. read more

Went down there October 23 2020 and had a really good time. This was my first hog hunting trip ever and and shot my first hog here. What an amazing time we had me and my buddy. We will definitely be back probably make it a yearly tradition and with more people also. All the staff was great. The butchers work there butt off getting all those hogs cut up and put in your cooler on ice. And Steve was amazing he makes sure everyone is safe and have a great time while at the ranch and I have read some of the other bad reviews before I came and didn't believe some of the stuff that was said. But every cost is upfront on there website and we didn't have any issue with anyone pushing extra charges on you. You must go to this ranch and experience it for yourself and you will see how such amazing place this is. I can't stop talking about this place to everyone. This was our time hunting at the Independence Ranch. The staff was very good and help full. Hunting was fantastic. We shot 8 hogs between the three of us. We are in our mid 70's and they gave us a room with a bathroom and shower. Room was new and comfortable. They took us to our hunting areas. We saw many many hogs, sometimes groups of hundreds. Sometimes singles, many times 5-6 hogs at a time would come running past and a number of time more than a hundred. Something we won't forget soon. We arrived on Saturday afternoon and were done hunting Sunday evening. Meat was ready for travel after dinner on Sunday. We brought our own ice to save money. Be sure to remember to bring plenty of CASH, credit cards are only used on the their website. The hunt and butchering cost me about $800. One area they could improve was their meals, I doubt my grandsons would eat their food, food ran out and if you were late it was gone. I hope to return with our grandkids next year. FBI read more
