This is the perfect B&B if you're visiting the Ledbetter or surrounding areas (Round Top, Burton,…read moreGiddings). I was with two other gal pals and we were attending a holiday bash at our friends' family ranch three miles away; we didn't want to drive all the way back to Houston after drinking, so we booked our one-night stay at Night Bird Ranch. It's off the beaten path from the small town of Ledbetter, but that makes for a quiet and private retreat. We booked the Lonesome Dove and Hidalgo rooms; rooms were clean - recently renovated with plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, and a space heater for those extra chilly nights. We had two rooms with two twin beds - beds were firm. Bedding was comfortable. Soaps and shampoo/conditioner was provided, but it's the kids kind, so if you like your fancy products, pack your own. Kiki and her family live on the 70-acre property; she is a friendly host and we felt welcomed during our stay. Upon arrival, she gave us a tour and even let us assist with feeding the animals the morning we left. She also gave me a cash refund because they had a special discount rate for the night and honored that for me - without me even asking about it. Real hospitality! There's a dance hall/dining hall where Kiki provides wine, coffee, tea and snacks. Our stay included a hot breakfast, and it was fantastic! Fresh biscuits, eggs, sausage gravy, sausage links (and of course, cereal for the kiddies). Onsite there's a lake, acres of exploring, campfire station, and animals: three horses, 2 lambs, and a miniature donkey - and don't forget about Elvis the ranch dog! Love that Kiki and her family are animal lovers. Keep in mind though, outside dogs from guests are not allowed because of the many farm animals. My girlfriends and I fully enjoyed our stay and want to return with a group to have a little ranch life fun. I highly rec this for small groups, retreats, families (kids will love) and even those looking for a space to host an event, like a quaint country wedding or family gathering.

The trip from Austin to Ledbetter was quick, so we called Kiki and got specific directions to our room and even found out about their restaurant, Teague's Tavern in Round Top. After dinner we sat on the porch and listened to the country sounds while Garth sat at our feet. The room was fantastic. Just the right size for us, furnished simply but with care to the details. We left before breakfast, but heated up some of our leftovers from dinner, in the dining hall, to eat on the road. We loved our stay at Night Bird Ranch and plan to come back again, to get away from it all.

We were looking for a place where we could gather as a family and enjoy a relaxing weekend in the…read morecountry and enjoy some leisurely activities. I brought my 3 kids with me along with my sister (w/ 2 kids) and another niece of mine (7 in total). The ride to the property was easy and enjoyable along the back roads of Texas and when we arrived we found the property to be amazingly beautiful and peaceful. Check in was not formal and we drove to our lodge and walked in and unpacked. The 1st person we met was the Cook! Grady was very welcoming to us and after I explained food limitations for one of our party he bent over backward to accommodate our needs and did a fantastic job with our breakfast and dinner menus!!!! The Chicken Fried Steak was the best I have ever had. We enjoyed our evenings together at dinner and just hanging out at the fire pit or playing games back at the lodge. During the days we walked around the property and visited the many different livestock (cows, horses, donkeys, turkeys, a duck, and some rabbits). Taunia also organized a gun shoot for us hosted by a cowboy named Brian. He taught us a few things about shooting shotguns. We also went to a nearby pond, did some fishing, and caught a good many large mouth bass. But the highlight for all was the horseback trail ride hosted by John and his son-in-law Craig (real cowboys themselves). John put us all at ease by giving us some good lessons on what do and what not to do and threw in some great stories. Then we took off with our horses for about 2 hours into the pastures and along and through some tree lines and up and down some gullies. None of us had much experience at all with horses but we were all able to get on them and ride them confidently after our training. It was a fun and relaxing ride and the horses were well behaved and trained to not do anything unexpected. The last day of the weekend was spent sleeping in and having a late breakfast and saying goodbye to all of our new 4-legged friends. Thanks again Taunia, John, Craig, Grady and Brian for all of you're horsepitality and kindness. This was exactly what this family of city dwellers needed to charge our batteries a bit. Take care and see you on the range again sometime.

Everyone so enjoyed the wedding and loved the scenic drive in route! We had our ceremony in front of the green doors of their historic chapel and the reception hall held our 250 guests after with a buffet, cake table and live band. Everything went off without a hitch and we were so pleased!

The sleeping quarters were next to the main lodge, but no elevator available to reach the 2nd floor in the sleeping quarters. So you had to take your bags up to your room, the staff did help a little. Each room provides single bed, unless you were housed in another room that provides a full size bed. The first night we were served dinner, which was really good. I believe it was a pork chop with mixed vegetables and we were served dessert. In the morning breakfast was served and we were allowed to make coffee/tea. The meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner was good. I did have an issue with one side dish that was served cold (mashed sweet potatoes). Overall food was good. The lodging was accommodating. Each bed had 2 pillows and the room was kept at a comfortable temperature. Our sewing retreat was held in a conference room that was able to hold over 30 occupants. The property is kept well.

The Jordan Ranch is quietly nestled away approximately a mile or so away from the Interstate-10 freeway. Upon entrance, you are greeted by cordial and personable employees who are happy to serve you throughout your stay. The lobby walls are adorned with pictures of prior guests and investors that let you know that this will not be a typical hotel stay but an experience that will be life-changing. The atmosphere is one of almost palpable tranquility. And, once I was able to walk around the premises, I discovered why: this solemn place has been dedicated to the Lord; therefore, it is holy. Honestly, I did not want to leave because of the serenity I experienced. The prayer walking trails help you attune your soul to God's metronome of creativity and rebirth. As I continued to walk, my mind was fascinated as I imagined whose great footsteps I was walking in as I continued on my uncharted course. The tall swaying trees seem to whisper the names of those whose lives have been transformed by God's cultivating tender Hands. Also, it appears that He was involved in the ornate architecture of the building because it is detailed with unique beauty, but yet it is exquisitely simple. The acres upon acres of green pasture allow you to ingest the sheer magnitude of the Father's infinite ability to correct that which is misaligned, to restore that which has been stolen, and to heal the wounded heart. The grazing cattle and the episodic sighting of deer attest to the Faithfulness of our God supplying our needs according to His riches in Glory. Also, the Ponderosa-styled wooden fences give you a quiet reminder that He keeps you protects you from harm. I recommend this soul-retreat resort for sabbaticals or the nurturing and restoration of marriages. Life-long memories can be added to your portfolio that will accumulate interest for seasons to come. The slow-paced environment allows you to gain insight into the matters that matter the most in life: family and the condition of one's soul. Thank God there are NO televisions; hence, you are more likely to engage in the various available activities that this gemstone offers. As a bonus, the food is scrumptious, and the fireside smores are delightful. But, be aware that there might be a couple of critters (small scorpions) that might want to join in on the festivities, so be sure to bring some Off spray. Wait, does Off spray repel scorpions? I am not sure. LOL. No, the scorpions are not plenteous, but you might see one ever so often. However, EVEN with the occasional nuisance of these arachnids, I did not let my fear of bugs deter me from enjoying my journey. Hopefully, my family and I will be blessed to go back and have a sequel to the beginning of a profound experience that will be included in the many chapters of our lives. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for giving the forefathers and investors the witty idea to make this diadem a reality. God, please keep the ground sacred, and do not let it become artificial and commercialized. Prosper the Jordan Ranch and keep the meekly honorable Pastor, his family, and staff safe from harm. May Your Anointing continue to saturate this place to bring healing to the nations. In Jesus' Name, we agree. AMEN! TWO THUMBS UP!
