This is the perfect B&B if you're visiting the Ledbetter or surrounding areas (Round Top, Burton, Giddings). I was with two other gal pals and we were attending a holiday bash at our friends' family ranch three miles away; we didn't want to drive all the way back to Houston after drinking, so we booked our one-night stay at Night Bird Ranch. It's off the beaten path from the small town of Ledbetter, but that makes for a quiet and private retreat. We booked the Lonesome Dove and Hidalgo rooms; rooms were clean - recently renovated with plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, and a space heater for those extra chilly nights. We had two rooms with two twin beds - beds were firm. Bedding was comfortable. Soaps and shampoo/conditioner was provided, but it's the kids kind, so if you like your fancy products, pack your own. Kiki and her family live on the 70-acre property; she is a friendly host and we felt welcomed during our stay. Upon arrival, she gave us a tour and even let us assist with feeding the animals the morning we left. She also gave me a cash refund because they had a special discount rate for the night and honored that for me - without me even asking about it. Real hospitality! There's a dance hall/dining hall where Kiki provides wine, coffee, tea and snacks. Our stay included a hot breakfast, and it was fantastic! Fresh biscuits, eggs, sausage gravy, sausage links (and of course, cereal for the kiddies). Onsite there's a lake, acres of exploring, campfire station, and animals: three horses, 2 lambs, and a miniature donkey - and don't forget about Elvis the ranch dog! Love that Kiki and her family are animal lovers. Keep in mind though, outside dogs from guests are not allowed because of the many farm animals. My girlfriends and I fully enjoyed our stay and want to return with a group to have a little ranch life fun. I highly rec this for small groups, retreats, families (kids will love) and even those looking for a space to host an event, like a quaint country wedding or family gathering. read more

Sweetie and I only needed a night away from town and could not have had a better time! After booking our room, Kiki texted and offered directions and dining advice. Nice! The trip from Austin to Ledbetter was quick, so we called Kiki and got specific directions to our room and even found out about their restaurant, Teague's Tavern in Round Top. After dinner we sat on the porch and listened to the country sounds while Garth sat at our feet. The room was fantastic. Just the right size for us, furnished simply but with care to the details. We left before breakfast, but heated up some of our leftovers from dinner, in the dining hall, to eat on the road. We loved our stay at Night Bird Ranch and plan to come back again, to get away from it all. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a getaway here. The owners were super nice and the accommodations were fantastic! We fished in the pond and lost count of largemouth bass we caught. I caught at least 4 or 5 bass that were three pounds. At night there are few lights on the property giving me an opportunity to view the Milky Way bortle class 3/4. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Had a great time here, and suspect it'd be the perfect place to come for antiques events and the like in nearby towns. It's obviously not the kind of place to come to if you're very particular about plush bedding and all that sort of thing. It's nice, simple and clean accommodation in beautiful surroundings. I understand it's run by a husband and wife team. I didn't meet him but she's really friendly, interested in her guests and very helpful. The ranch dogs escorting you around the property are the real MVPs. Really recommend it here. If you're coming back to your room at night, make sure an external light's on before the room lights! Otherwise a lot of bugs are going to come party with you. read more

Stumbled across this place when searching for a room at the last minute. Grabbed the last room for the night. It's a beautiful place out in the country close to Round Top and Giddings. It was wonderful to see the horses up close and personal and Garth is a great greeter and porch companion. All that being said, I love being out in the country. I didn't mind the small room, but the beds seemed old and a ceiling fan would have been a welcome touch. Breakfast was ok. read more

Nite Bird Ranch was a piece of Texas Hill Country heaven. A small bed and breakfast hotel (5 rooms), about 7 miles from Round Top, Tx where the world famous Antiques Weekend takes place every spring and fall. The rooms were new and comfortable with nice cold AC. A nice deep covered porch with comfy chairs looks over the 70 acre ranch and pond. We were greeted on the gravel driveway by their canine ambassador, a hound named Garth. Free range donkeys and horses also call this place home. The innkeeper, Kiki is friendly and helpful, and makes a tasty hot breakfast each morning. Note: no television in the guest rooms. But a big screen tv is always available along with direct tv in the dining hall just a few steps away. We look forward to our next visit. read more

Thanks to Kiki and Don, who are fantastic hosts, my stay at Night Bird Ranch could not have been better. My plans included staying only one night, following an exhibition opening at The Gallery at Round Top, which meant that I would be arriving at the ranch after dark. Kiki provided thorough driving directions (even before I had a chance to ask for them!) that took me from Round Top to the ranch in minutes. Upon my arrival, Kiki greeted me and pointed out where various things, e.g., TV, refrigerator, etc., could be found. Regarding the Lonesome Dove room itself, everything about it is great, particularly the bed -- so comfortable, and with super-soft sheets! The room is nicely furnished and decorated in warm, earth-tone colors -- it's clear that much thought went into decorating the room. There were guests staying in two of the other rooms, but I didn't hear them, only saw their cars. (Parking is convenient -- you can park steps away from your room's door.) Stating the obvious, but still: If you stay at Night Bird Ranch on a clear night, be sure to look up at the stars. And enjoy the quiet atmosphere and sounds of nature! The next morning, after a good night's sleep, I joined the other guests, and Kiki and Don, in the dining hall. The breakfast spread included more options than many restaurants offer -- I'm pretty sure there's something to satisfy everyone's taste buds and hunger levels here. I filled my plate with scrambled eggs, sausage, and biscuits that are much better than anything I ever cook at home. (Thanks, Don!) Also noteworthy: Really great coffee and huge, tasty muffins. (The country gravy, pancakes, and other items I didn't try looked good, too!) I didn't need to hurry back to Houston or to anyplace else, so I enjoyed spending time sipping coffee and visiting with Kiki and learning about how she and Don came to acquire the ranch and proceed to upgrade it to the level of quality that exists today. And chatting about photography and more. Before leaving, I checked out the ranch's private lake and took some photos -- the ranch is quite scenic! (A drawback of arriving at night as late as I did is that you don't get to see what the ranch really looks like until the next morning!) I could envision Night Bird Ranch being a fantastic setting for events such as weddings and retreats. I left Night Bird Ranch feeling like I was a member of the Teague family. I suspect that most guests leave feeling the same way. In the future, when I'm in need of a place to stay in the Round Top-Warrenton area, I definitely would stay at Night Bird Ranch -- and encourage others to stay there, too! read more

This is a very quiet and peaceful place! The dogs are friendly and keep you company on your walks. The evening sounds with the pond will just lull you into a state of peace. I brought my wife here for a surprise birthday getaway and it was as advertised. Wow!!! What an experience!! I came to Night Bird Ranch for a yoga retreat and I can't even begin to tell you what an amazing time I had. The hostess, Kiki, couldn't have been more hospitable. The food she cooked for us was delicious for every meal and she took time out of her day to come join us. The cabin we stayed in was beautiful and had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Her two dogs, 'Garth and Vera,' and horse, 'Cowboy,' were just the topping of the cake. The animals were friendly and always ready for a good petting or treat. If you are looking for a nice getaway to relax I recommend coming here. I am beyond happy with my stay at Night Bird Ranch. read more
