Went here last night with a friend. Absolutely charming place! The owner is an amazing chef and knows some serious wine. The food is all locally sourced and made from scratch. It was my first time in there and I will for sure be back! We shared a beet salad and the beef burger. Both were absolutely amazing. I know you'd say "oh, Julie, those aren't that big of a deal"...yes, yes it was. It was absolutely melt in your mouth burger and salad perfection. My friend said she has had almost everything on the menu and thinks it's all wonderful. I asked the chef to pick a Merlot for me...she did...it was so good! My friend had coffee and said her coffee is so good she will drive there from the next town over to get it. She also said it doesn't need anything to take away from the flavor. Often she puts sugar in her coffee, but not here! They also sell wine by the bottle and they had a few other cute local items for sale. A sign that I thought was precious said something like "my book group reads wine labels". They have tables in there, they also have a nice lounge area where you can sit comfy. Highly recommend! Can't say enough about the flavor combinations Blue (owner/chef/sommelier) creates. Celebrated my birthday with a group of friends who live in large cities with very established food scenes, we were all blown away by the meal plus excellent wine selection. We had a delightful lunch! My husband and I met up with another couple. The crab cake sandwiches, wild salmon, and shrimp skewers were excellent. Our friends had the meatloaf skewers, crab cakes and salmon. Had a nice bottle of prosecco and a mimosa. Impressed with Blue, the food, and the wine selection. Atmosphere was nice and relaxed. This place is FANTASTIC! The owner Blue could not be more lovely. She's a total boss, offers amazing wine selection advice (on extremely fairly priced bottles) AND cooks all the delicious food for the ever evolving menu. We now have a rule to pop in here on our way home from Wimberly to Houston to chat up Blue and fill our bellies with her delicious, fresh, home made recipes. The food here was absolutely amazing. I had the roasted beet salad and shared a pizza with friends. Everything was freshly made with locally sourced meats and produce. Service was great and, considering the waitress was also the cook, very timely. The atmosphere is very homey and quiet enough to enjoy conversation with your table without needing to shout. Wine is their preferred item and the variety is wide enough to fit the palette of the novice as well as the connoisseur! Well, I did not see that coming. We needed to grab some food during a drive from San Marcos to Houston and BBQ just didn't sound good. We saw this from the street and decided to take a chance. I went to a birthday celebration for the owner, Blue. First, the beet salad was to die for, wow! The attention to detail of the ambiance by her and her staff was wonderful. Not to fail to mention the wine selection was amazing. The people were warm and friendly. For an average size place, the atmosphere was open and very comfortable, and the entire staff made everyone feel welcomed. It was worth the visit. This little gem has outstanding wines, a tasty casual menu, and wonderful hospitality. We have gone when there has been live music on a Friday night to have escargot, champagne, flat bread, delicious grilled meat. Wonderful food. Loved it, The rustic apple tart was amazing. Well worth the drive. Prices are very reasonable as well.
