Trust this man with your axe. He patched up a massive crack in the body of my Taylor when I was on the road.

I had a great experience with 3 of the different guitar guys (one was an assistant manager). I got a used Japanese Strat for a great price. The service was excellent!!! Incredibly patient especially since I had a 3 year old with me running a muck around the place. Even though it is a chain, They have every brand and style you need. Just find the right sales associate and you will leave satisfied.

He started his visit with a free introductory music lesson, that he took to quite well( helped also by the patient guidance of the guitar teacher, Jaxson.). One of the managers, Sam, walked us through the purchase, recommending their own in house extended warranty which we signed up for. Fast forward two weeks later, my grandson has an accident with the jack to the amp, the amp tips, and the jack from the cord snaps off in the plug on the amp. I called to see how to go about getting this fixed( we live a bit of a distance away, and I was hoping to resolve this without having to come back. I came in with the amp. I was immediately taken care of by Bob, another store manager. He set about seeing if it could be readily fixed. Once he determined that it would need a bit more time. he substituted a new exact amp so I could be on my way..this whole experience was a great customer service experience. On both my last trip here and this one today, I can't say enough how friendly and knowledgeable everyone is. Bob even gave me a new jack cord to replace the broken one..

Exceptional service!…read more I was looking for a trusted, local luthier who would be both easy to work with and deliver honest, quality work at a reasonable price. I wrote off someplace like GC, knowing this wasn't their core business and unwilling to risk the higher probability of landing with a relatively unskilled tech who may only know the very basics of setup. Frankly, I didn't know if my guitar would need more than that but I wasn't going to find out the hard way, wasting my time and money or getting back a guitar that either wasn't fixed or wasn't fixed properly. I came across Kevin Chubbuck Guitars by phoning another local luthier, one who services/repairs acoustics and principally produces high-end handmade custom built acoustic guitars. He highly recommended Kevin, as a former employee who did fine work and one who had since moved on to further hone his craft before setting up his own shop and line of custom-built guitars. After a couple of email exchanges and a phone call to Kevin, I was convinced he was who I was looking for. After a quick review of my guitar, I was given a thorough walk through of the steps he was going to take to fully diagnose and correct the reported issue and explained the possible causes for it. Kevin even demonstrated how he was going to do the work with some of the tools he was going to use and why. Very reassuring and, for me, a worthwhile education. I really appreciated that level of detail. This wasn't just a drop-off, sign here, and see you in a week deal. It was engaging and very customer focused. I left Kevin's shop with complete confidence in his abilities and knowledge that I had found someone who was easy to work with and solely interested in doing only high quality work on anything he puts his hands to, be it an expertly crafted handmade guitar or a lowly setup on a Les Paul Studio. The work was done quickly and the type of corrective action that needed to be done was confirmation for me that I came to the right place. The price? Exceptional and no more than a routine setup would have been, despite the labor required to fix the underlying problems that would have prevented a proper setup. I found the entire experience a pleasure, I got to know Kevin a bit on a personal level, and he made me feel like I was his best customer despite being a new customer with a relatively simple and inexpensive scope of work. I would highly recommend Kevin to anyone looking for a genuinely nice, honest, knowledgeable, highly skilled and easy to work with luthier. Check out his site, his work, and be confident that he can take good care of your gear, regardless of the complexity of the work required.

Five or so calls later and I got to talking with Scott at Naked Guitar Repair. He came off as a good dude who was really comfortable with guitars and confident in his work, so even though I had found a cheaper option, I drove over to Madbury to meet Scott. His shop is located in the same lot as a landscaping business and is entered through the side door under the green awning along the right-hand side of the building. The space is refreshingly unfinished, with tools lining the perimeter workbench spaces and guitars in various states of build hanging along the walls. The real look of the place was the first of a few indications that I had chosen the right repair shop for my old Yamaha. Scott looked up from his work and received me warmly into his workshop. He deftly inspected the guitar, played a Spanish riff to check its original condition, and concluded that it was in great shape, definitely worth cleaning up. Throughout the "interview" he was really friendly and shared a great deal of information about his history with guitars; during this conversation I also came to learn that Scott builds electric guitars from scratch under the name Stonewall Instruments in this same space (another indication that my Yamaha was in good hands). He was even willing to work with me on the price of the work. I picked up the guitar a few days later, and, needless to say, it sparkled and sang. I'll try to include a photo of it with this post, but you should just take my word for it -- the guitar glows like it was touched by a experienced perfectionist and is matched by the sweetest tone, new strings tight and sharp. Can't be more happy with the "upgrade" Scott was able to bring out of her. Not only do I recommend Naked Guitar Repair to anyone looking for a honest conversation about a guitar in need, but I'm personally committed to returning to the business when Scott has his annual Stonewall Instruments open house. Hope this helps. Be well!
