Excellent service from the staff, guitar was better than expected, and deal was great. Thank you for the amazing guitar.

We bought a "starter kit"(electric guitar, amp, and everything to get started) several weeks ago for my 8 yo grandson. He started his visit with a free introductory music lesson, that he took to quite well( helped also by the patient guidance of the guitar teacher, Jaxson.). One of the managers, Sam, walked us through the purchase, recommending their own in house extended warranty which we signed up for. Fast forward two weeks later, my grandson has an accident with the jack to the amp, the amp tips, and the jack from the cord snaps off in the plug on the amp. I called to see how to go about getting this fixed( we live a bit of a distance away, and I was hoping to resolve this without having to come back. I came in with the amp. I was immediately taken care of by Bob, another store manager. He set about seeing if it could be readily fixed. Once he determined that it would need a bit more time. he substituted a new exact amp so I could be on my way..this whole experience was a great customer service experience. On both my last trip here and this one today, I can't say enough how friendly and knowledgeable everyone is. Bob even gave me a new jack cord to replace the broken one.. read more

The two gentlemen that assisted me with picking up my online order were kind. The website says to contact the store to make an appointment for repairs, or even simply just walk in. I called this morning to make an appointment and Bryan from sales was very rude to me, saying that's not how that works and the repair tech is extremely busy, with 80 guitars in his line up at all times. I understand that the store is very busy, however he didn't even offer to schedule an appointment for me or anything. Guitar center, not offering your customers an appointment for your services is not good for your business. I'm very upset about this and will not be coming here ever again. read more

Brought in $400 speakers that I purchased from there, I had 2 they offered me $30 a piece for each speaker. Also had a guitar with me, they didn't even want the guitar. I've spent thousands of dollars at guitar center and will not do any more business there ever again read more

Went here in November to buy a Yamaha Digital Piano as a Christmas gift. I don't know anything about keyboards but the sales associate was so helpful that I felt very comfortable making my purchase. He explained what features and add-ons were most advantageous & why and I didn't feel as though he was just trying to make me spend more money than necessary. The gift was a success & my daughter loves it. Thank you Guitar Center staff, you're great & I recommend your store. read more

If I could put minus stars I would put minus 5 stars, if you want to sell a guitar or trade it in, DONT DO IT ! you are much better off selling it online, these aholes will try to offer you about 1 10th of its value, maybe they think everyone is a sucker, I brought in a 250 dollar guitar in and they offered me 35 dollars for it, don't waste your gas driving there, 35 dollars for this guitar, it's not even a made in China guitar I could understand if it was an s35 but this one goes for over 200, I really wanted to slap the dude for even insulting me with that offer, the name's Tucker, not Sucker!!!! read more

Guitar Center - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Danvers, Massachusetts

See all

I called the Danvers location and said, "I want to buy this cab you have in stock there. Can you connect me with someone who can help with this?" I was told about ukulele lessons, then put on hold. No answer. Called again. Same thing. I gave up and blind purchased it online. I called them back with a order number and told them I'd pick it up Saturday. They recorded that as Friday pickup. I drove across two state lines to pick it up Saturday. Upon arrival, they said they had no record of a sale. Guy eventually found it, after I endured Saturday morning, middle-aged blues noodling throughout the shop. Guy dropped it off the dolly with a clunk and tossed a receipt at me. So basically, the human element in this story was the problem. I can't wait for robot operated guitar stores, maybe then we'll get to hear some Kraftwerk over Stairway to Heaven. read more

I've been doing business with this Guitar Center for many years, but since Bob became manager and Julian took over the keyboard/audio section, it's been a different experience: more commitment to the individual musicians, trying to find you the best product at a very fair price, honest appraisals for trade-ins, customer oriented... regardless if it's a $5 purchase or $500 purchase. The front entry guys are also very helpful, polite, and professional... always an excellent experience!! I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

What a waste of time. Spent an hour choosing an instrument in the acoustic room only to find that it had no tag. Brought it to the front and was told it's on layaway. I asked the dude if they had any more to which he replied "hold on" and walked away. Second star only because the dude in the keyboard room walked all around the store to try to find me one that their inventory said was in stock but didn't actually exist, that dude was rad. Seems like they're FAR more interested in giving lessons than selling guitars. They make a lot more charging you however much for a lesson and then paying the teacher 18 bucks an hour than they do selling guitars, it's really beyond me who would think that guitar center has good music lessons. Just buy what you want on Amazon it's cheaper anyways. read more

Bought my best gear at GC... started playing in 96', have had many pieces over the years... of you have their card, financing is super powerful (as well as the GV points/reward certificates). From GC I've gotten Rhodes, Strats, Les Pauls... drums, sampler, turntables, amps, basses etc. Are they perfect??? No... but, the mom and pops are not even close, nowadays. read more

I usually go in there and there's never really a problem, today I went in there today and was racially profiled by one of the workers there named Matt. I went in the guitar room to use the guitars like usual never really an issue but he went in and hovered, no one else was there I was also using a guitar. He stood around until I put it back and asked if there was anything he could help me with? I said no and he walked out. I also asked him after the incident if we were allowed to use the guitar room he said yes. Yet he was acting as if I've done something wrong. I've also notice they never have any girls or black workers there. Something they should think about when hiring. Don't recommend coming here If you're of COLOR and do not recommend doing any services with MATT. read more

I love this place. They are so honest. I was told my son was not ready to start lessons due to his lace of focus. I appreciated his honesty instead of taking my money. Everyone I met here are super nice and so knowledgeable. read more

I would have continued lessons but was treated rudely by the scheduler in Danvers, MA. Even if I wasn't a customer, I can't imagine being condescended to and spoken to in a snarky way, especially just for asking a follow-up question (I asked if he had the chance to find a time for a lesson that he told us previously he'd have to figure out the scheduling for). Unfortunate. Really didn't have to happen. read more

Went to GC Danvers today and got a sweet deal on a new axe! Not only that I was treated awesome and given great customer service by Tristian and Zack!!! Also got a fantastic set up by done by Tom. Thanks guys, you rule above all, in a sea of musical mediocrity!!!! read more

UPDATE: Guitar Center took responsibility for the issues I ran into and made it right. Replacing the guitar. I couldn't be happier. A couple issues: I brought my guitar in for a set-up, re-fret and switch tip replacement. I wanted some Jumbos on it. They said it would be ready today and they would call. I was in the area so decided to stop in. Yeah, it was ready. Nobody called. As soon as the case was opened it looked like glue had been spilled on it or tape residue. It was neither. The finish had been damaged. The switch tip wasn't replaced and there weren't any new frets. When I pointed this out, I got a replacement switch tip. Yay. They offered to repair the damage and apologized that it happened to my guitar while it was there. I doubt they are going to refinish the entire guitar body but I am going to wait and see how it turns out. So far I find this completely unacceptable. If I didn't say anything would they would have been fine with letting a customer pay and leave with a guitar they had damaged? The same day I brought my guitar in, I was going to pick up a used guitar that was listed online as being at that store. When I got there, I couldn't find the guitar. An employee explained someone had put it on lay-away. Which I found strange since it was listed online and was told it was there when I had called prior. I mentioned this, nope. No help. Went home put the guitar in the on-line cart, checked out and received an email a couple of hours later telling me it was ready for pick up. Picked up guitar. Brought it home. WTF? My experience was like a bad comedy skit. I would've let everything else slide but the damage to the finish was the final straw. I made this account to post this review. read more

I have never been here and looking for a wire for my work audio system. I was greeted by Kenny and he was a huge help; then ringing up the item I needed replacing needed management approval. Tristan stepped in and was also so great. It's so refreshing to go into a retail store; be greeted, helped and have small talk. Hopefully I won't have to be back to audio problems but I give those two guys 5 stars!!!! read more

I recently paid a visit to the Geetar Center of Danvers Massachusetts. I was assisted by an older gentleman by the name of Tom I believe. He provided outstanding customer service in the form of helping my broke butt purchase a Boss RC-5 loop station. This man deserves a raise. read more

I was looking to buy a new ukulele but knew nothing about the instrument itself. I decided to go to Guitar Center in Danvers and see if they could help me out. All is the staff were extremely welcoming and I felt comfortable browsing around. Dick was very helpful in showing me the different types of ukuleles and made sure I had everything I needed without rushing me along. There were plenty of options to pick from. Really good people there and I'll for sure be back. I love my new Corbana Uke. read more

I'll try to keep this to facts and not opinions. I brought a guitar in for a setup at the Guitar Center of Danvers, I was told it may take a week or two bc they had been closed for a week. I got it back about two weeks later. When I picked it up I was charged for the setup, but also for the new strings. From the website description the strings are supposed to be included in the setup. I did not want to make a big deal out of it so I just paid the money. I got home and the exact same problem was happening that made me bring it in in the first place. A twanging sound could be heard over the amp primarily occurring with the G string, but also sometimes with the B. I brought it back, and had to wait another two weeks to get the guitar back. My low rating is based on 1. How I was overcharged. I did have this correct the second time I picked up the guitar. 2. The still occurring twanging sounds after the setup was so obvious I do not understand how it was missed. 3. The way I had to wait another two weeks to get the guitar back. I would think good customer services would have put my guitar in the front of the line and would not have taken two weeks to correct. From this experience I have learned I will do a better job researching who works on my guitars for now on. read more

Walked in Saturday night around 5:30 to purchase a new snare drum. There was a staff member in the drum department when I got there. I was the only person in the department. He greeted me and said can I help you find what you're looking for? To which I replied "yes" I'd like to purchase a 6.5"x14"Ludwig Supraphonic snare please. He replies "cool man" and walks away. I stood in the drum department for about 15 minutes, confused as to where he disappeared to before going to find some help at main counter. WHich is where I spotted him hanging out with some other employees. I actually had to ask if anyone was working in the drum department!! Same guy says oh yeah I'll be there in a minute. And 10 minutes after that I decided to walk out. On the way out the door he spots me and once again says do you still need some help in drums? I just shook my head and left. I can't even wrap my head around the laziness. I threw the kid a softball.... I told him exactly what I was looking for! He obviously has no idea about drums to blow off a customer looking to drop over 600.00 on a snare drum. So to the reader of this I say think twice about making a purchase from Guitar Center Danvers unless you have a big block of time set aside. The staff is obviously more worried about socializing than making sales to knowledgeable customers. Customers who have the money to spend, but not the time to hang around until the employee feels like doing his job. I'll be buying my new Ludwig and all other equipment elsewhere going forward. read more

The guys here were super helpful. Walked in for the most part knowing what I wanted and left satisfied and confident with what I bought. They were super helpful in helping me track down the right keyboard piano i needed and even took it out of the box for me to try before i brought it home. Tbh i was nervous because of some of their older reviews on here but knew I needed to give them props after my experience!! Couldnt have been an easier process. read more

I just experienced possibly the very best customer service of all time. I recently purchased a mini grand piano from GC-Danvers. There was a chip inside the soundboard that was about 1.5 inches, which was quite noticeable when you lift the top board. Contacted GC and spoke to Joe. He proposed several solutions and worked with his manager (Bob, I believe) to ensure that we were happy with our purchase. Ultimately, we ended up swapping the "defected" part of the piano with another one. Joe provided excellent customer service and we are beyond satisfied! Thank you Joe and also to GC management team (excellent customer service is attributed to the leadership team as well). read more

I agree with Bark and John. Guitar center is a musical amusement park! You should check it out just to mess around with equipment before making the big purchase! However, John is right, this guitar center is full of jerks. I went in looking to purchase a pair of KRK monitors. There were selling them for cheaper on zzsounds. I told a sales associate and he apathetically brushed me off. Didn't offer a price match or any assistance! Don't get me wrong, guitar center is a great place. Just don't go to this one. read more

Recently had a guitar repaired at GC. I told them what I wanted done and told them I didn't need anything else done. They told me that they would call with a quote before they did any work. A week later I got a phone call telling me that the guitar was ready to be picked up. I never received a phone call telling me what it was gonna cost. Not only was the repair more than double what I was expecting to spend but they did extra work to the guitar which I did not ask for. They would not budge on the price since they had already done the work. I paid so that I could bring my guitar home and left disappointed as usual. Went back up a few days later with a couple of questions I had on a guitar that I had recently purchased on eBay. I told the guitar "expert" what my issues were and he told me to bring the guitar in for a setup. I told him that last time my guitar was brought it for work I was over charged for services that I never asked for. He asked me if I purchased the guitar center. I said no. I could tell once I said that that he lost interest in what I was talking about. I had to walk back and forth trying to have a conversation with him as hence sporadically behind the counter. I told him what I had been reading online to help fix my new guitar and he gave me an attitude and told me to basically do the opposite. I ignore his "expertise" and did what I had seen recommend online. I got home and setup the guitar myself. It sounds great. All in all, I will not be returning to a GC any time soon. Maybe to test equipment but they have lost my business. I will buy what I need online and find other technicians to do my work. It's sad that this corporate entity has completely removed other guitar shops from the area where the service was 100 times better. read more

I paid $105.00 for the platinum service on my guitar. I wasn't impressed by the cleaning. You still see dirt in small crevice areas and white knobs weren't cleaned throughly. I asked for the wiring to be checked I don't think that was looked at. Frets were polished nice but for the platinum service I don't think is worth it. Go with the regular set up which is cheaper. read more

This place is a musical amusement park. I go here frequently just to mess around with all their cool displays. Wanted to write a review for Liz who helped us at Guitar Center. She could not have been a better customer service representative. I was looking to purchase a guitar, had never played before, so I was completely green and knowledgeable of even where to start. Liz was perfect at helping me select something in my price range. She was perfect at letting me know what I needed to purchase for accessories, and even more important, what I did not need to purchase. I loved the fact that she wasn't just pushing product, but gave us her honest opinions about what to buy and what not to. I will return because of her. read more

I can't say the service was "bad" because for the entire 40 minutes I browsed around the store not a single associate asked if I needed help. I'm setting up a home studio and have a lot of items to purchase - studio foam, pop filter, monitors, stands for drum machine, etc. With the right salesperson I could have easily dropped over a $1,000 in this store today. Instead I only got the two midi cables I need for my current home set up. There were 4 employees standing around talking to each other almost the entire time I was there and they saw me looking at a variety of stuff. I saw a used mpc 1,000 for a good price that I probably would have purchased on the spot has a salesperson come over. read more

Guitar Center has it all!! It's great to jam on everything and they have very good prices. I love their sales which they have a lot. Hardly anybody is in the audio and keyboard section! Drum area is moderate. Guitar area is PACKED. WARNING!!!, the employees at the GC are only employees, not a buddy. My issue with Guitar Center is you need to go in with some sort of knowledge about musical equipment and gear. The employees there will convince you to buy anything. My best suggesting is poke a musician's brain or even bring your musician buddy with you. Another suggesting is to go online to Guitar Center's website and look at the reviews on some of the equipment you are interested in. Be smart and you will get great deals with GC. read more

The difference in service between this store and the Guitar Center I used to shop at in Austin, Texas makes it seem like a completely different company! I'd already repeatedly experienced the utter indifference of the staff here, but tonight I discovered their guitar technician had lied to me about when he was available. I rearranged my schedule so I could talk to him, but when I got there, after waiting around for someone - anyone - to make an appearance on the sales floor who wasn't either too busy or too cool to speak to a customer, I was cheerfully told to try again tomorrow - he was gone. Nope! There aren't any more tomorrows for you guys. I'm done. read more

I have been shopping at this store since they opened 20+ years ago. Always had good experiences, but wanted to point out in particular, more recently Ive had some great interactions with your employee, Brian (not sure last name.......glasses, dark hair etc). I've been a musical instrument shopper for years. In the good old days you were able to get the price you wanted. Now you deal with the market price. I had a great experience with 3 of the different guitar guys (one was an assistant manager). I got a used Japanese Strat for a great price. The service was excellent!!! Incredibly patient especially since I had a 3 year old with me running a muck around the place. Even though it is a chain, They have every brand and style you need. Just find the right sales associate and you will leave satisfied. read more

Merch is good, but they've hired one too many stoners and music snobs. Good at music, bad at business. And while it's important for me to have knowledgeable staff, it's more important to me to not be left waiting around the counter hoping an employee will notice me amongst the chaos that they seem to nurture here. They basically need a new plan for helping customers. Also, they used to turn around a basic repair within the hour. Now they charge considerably more for the repair and it takes 24 hours. If anyone knows of a better, friendlier, more efficient local shop, send me a note! : ) read more

My son and I went in to browse while my wife and daughters were clothes shopping down the road, we saw a guitar we had liked but had decided against trying it out since we both had no idea how to play and guys were doing some major shredding. A few days later I decided to buy the guitar (a used Dean Dime Razorback) so I called to find out if they still had it and was greeted my an extremely friendly and helpful employee who put me through to the guitar department. Luckily the guitar was still there and they could hold it for me since I wouldn't be able to get there until after work. When I went to pick up the guitar, Shawn was extremely helpful, I informed him I also needed an amp and he didn't try to sell me a giant stack but showed me a fantastic little amp (Line 6 Spider IV) that was right in my price range. While I was tying out the guitar, Shawn was never pushy and was quick to offer suggestions for the other accouterments I needed to get started. I left having stayed within my budget, extremely happy, and will be back soon. read more

I recently bought a $1500.00 keyboard from GC. I have purchased many items over the years, spending about $5000.00 over the last ten years. I went to exchange a $30.00 pedal that was not working and I had purchased insurance on said pedal. I was jerked around for 45 minutes while the staff attempted to prove that the pedal was working, and that I was wrong. After several tries on various key boards, it was clear that the pedal only worked on SOME key boards, but not the one I had just purchased. Finally after conceding that I was correct, they exchanged the pedal for a new one. I will be bringing my business elsewhere. read more

Guitar center...... We're can I begin. Terrible service, terrible repairs. This place has ran out all of the other guitars stores and sadly this is my go to business for guitars. I've been here about 50 times at first when I was starting to play guitar this place was good but now it's terrible. When I was just beginning I went here to get my strings replaced and they charged me 40 DOLLARS!!! That is complete bullshit now that I look back on it. Also I came in at 7 and they close at 8 I believe and they pretty much kicked me out saying it was closing time. Overall this place Has a good selection but also terrible service read more

I had a really good experience here. My niece and I both picked up gorgeous beginner guitars (one pretty Fender and one really cool Mitchell) last weekend. We got a great deal and expert advice. Sean (Shawn?) knew what he was talking about and steered us in the right direction. It's not even that intimidating to shop amongst all the (real) musicians hanging out here, plus there are some great things to try, like funky drum kits and even a steel drum. Crazy! We are so excited with ourselves, and really appreciate the buying experience at this place. read more
