Overpriced and the staff isn't friendly at all. The side portions are really small. A whole chicken and 3 small sides 54+ dollars is crazy!

Here's the thing about Hip-Hop that you might not know: they have this super salty seasoning that…read morethey use on everything. If you don't like salty, fried food then just stay away... My boyfriend, however, loves it so he was stoked when Mom's Korean BBQ was closed and we ended up at Hip-Hop instead. While I have eaten their food at least a half-dozen times, I had never actually been inside a Hip-Hop. We usually frequent the Dundalk location, but were on our way to Costco and looking for something to expose my mother to - as she's only just now starting to be adventurous with food. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the restaurant, especially considering they fry EVERYTHING. The air conditioning was severely lacking, though, and while the food was good, we couldn't fully enjoy it due to the temp of the restaurant. You know how you don't wanna eat when you're overheated? We ordered all this food and then struggled to eat it because we were just too warm. I had the fried eggplant for the first time ever in my Hip-Hop history. The Dundalk location never has it and what a shame because it's delicious. Though, Hip-Hop is really lacking in the choices of dipping sauces. Eggplant does not want ketchup or hot sauce. Eggplant wants marinara or horseradish mayo. Still, I'd get it again, and look forward to having my leftovers tomorrow. Fried mushrooms also beg for a proper dipping sauces, so they came home, too. I tasted one and was impressed but neither the boyfriend nor my mom like mushrooms, so they stayed in the bag. You MUST get the hush puppies. MUST. They are perfect, with or without ketchup. Get a double order. My mom got tilapia and fries and could not get over how large her fish fillets were. The coleslaw is awesome here and I understand why they sell large containers of it. The boyfriend got whiting. He always gets whiting. He can smash like 10 pieces of it all on his own. It's like one of his comfort foods, but he also says that Hip-Hop could deep fry a pig's butthole, put that seasoning on it, and he'd still eat it. Yet he refuses to try their chicken gizzards. Not that we had them this time, but I have eaten them from the Dundalk location and they remind me of chewy calamari, but chicken flavored. Not hateful. I'd eat them again. All in all, a satisfying meal.

I was pretty excited when I saw that there was going to be a spicy chicken spot in the old Dunkin's…read moreon Dundalk Ave. Finally had the chance to check it out last night for dinner. We both got the chicken sandwich. The menu is small, or I'm sure Jeremy would have ordered more than one sandwich. He did also get the bucket of "Korean Chicken" but that thing is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and he wasn't brave enough to eat much of it. I'm not sure what makes that chicken Korean. It has a nice breading, but one does expect certain flavors when ordering Korean chicken. There's no soy or garlic here, no spice. The chicken is also cut/chopped in such a haphazard manner that the first bite I took was composed only of small rib bones. You really can't tell what you're getting (because of the thick breading) until the chicken is in your mouth, and then there's the possibility that there won't be any meat in that bite. These tiny bones are dangerous. Spitting them out is messy, but necessary. No one should have to spit out a mouth-full of bones. EVER. There isn't any "Hot" in anything that we ordered, either. I do appreciate that the coleslaw is coarsely chopped, and well sauced and seasoned but part of the draw (at least for me) of having coleslaw on a sandwich is to soothe the burn of a hot sauce or seasoning. While it does add a nice crunch, is it really needed on an already crispy sandwich? Not really. It just makes your roll mushy. I suggest getting it on the side. The chicken on the sandwich was great. It's well-breaded and crispy. It's a decent size piece of chicken. The huge dill pickle slices are also perfectly briny to cut through some of that fried-ness. It's a very appealing contrast. Service was friendly and speedy, but there's really nothing I would go back for.

This place was different. I went with my mom so that we can both try it out. When we pulled up the place was closed. We sat there a few minutes while I searched for the restaurant on google. Google had the closing time for this place a 9. So, I called the number on the sign outside of the restaurant. It said the number wasn't in service. I tried again just to make sure I dialed the right number. I got the same outcome. I was about to leave but, I wanted to see the number google had on file for this place. As I started to look the number up on google, a car pulled up. I wanted to see where the person was going since no other shop but the barbershop was open. The person didn't get straight out of the car, so I called the number that google had on file and a woman answered. I asked what time will the place close and she said around 6pm. I said ok then hung up. Next thing I see the woman in the car that pulled up a little earlier get out of the car and unlock the door to the restaurant. That woman ended up being the owner. She was very kind. She informed us that she was making deliveries because no one wanted to come out during this caronavirus scare. I understood. Especially being a small business. I work for my dad who have a small business and I know sometimes you don't have the money to hire help. Anyways, I did inform her that I had a restaurant.com voucher. She told us that she that she doesn't accept the voucher. She also told me that she's never taken these vouchers in her 6 years of business. Additionally, she said she's contacted restaurant.com and informed them that she didn't accept them. I was slightly disappointed because she didn't honor the voucher. But I tried to look at it like I supporting another black owned business. When we went to pay, the owner wasn't sure how to use her payment system. After trying my card several times it didn't take, we tried my mom's card and she finally got it to work after several tries.By the time we got finished paying, the food was cold. I think that I can speak for myself and my mom that the food wasn't that good and wasn't worth the $22 we paid for a fish sandwich and 4 wings with two sides. The only thing I liked was the chicken but it did have a few feathers on it and the potato salad was ok. I had to ask her to put my potato salad in a separate container from the hot chicken ( when it was hot). Anyway, when I got back home I looked up the restaurant's website. I saw a link to restaurant.com to purchase discounted vouchers. I then contacted restaurant.com. I'll post a pic of that convo. They just responded to me and I was very disappointed at what I read. So, the owner basically lied to me. I think it's shameful that she would advertise discounted vouchers then say that she doesn't accept them. I can speak for myself and my mom, we won't ever come back. Certainly wasn't worth my trip there.
