I came here for an early dinner after doing some shopping over at the Target in El Con Center shopping mall. Even at 4 pm, this place was packed! I've lived in Southern California for pretty much all of my life and I've never really understood the hype over an In-n-Out burger. Sure it's made with fresh ingredients and tastes good, but it's nothing to rave over. Personally, I think they over-salt everything. Even animal style doesn't do it for me. I lived in LA for 20 yrs so I think In n out is way overrated however it is good food at a great price. The lines are forever long but thankfully they have staff outside taking orders. Ask for packets of the secret sauce. I didn't even know they had those until I moved here! They also have "doggy" patties. An unsalted single patty for your pup for maybe $1. This El Con location can't seem to stay on their game. The Tucson Mall location is much better in my opinion, as it is more consistent with food. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the lady couldn't seem to take the order correctly in the drive thru. We thought we had it corrected and then the lady at the pay window still read it incorrectly. She left to "speak" to the crew and came back to take payment. We got our food and it was wrong. It was three # 2's, one with onion, one with no onion and no tomato and the last with no onion add pickles.... I don't know why it was so difficult. It just makes life difficult when you're trying to feed kids in the car and their hamburgers are incorrect. The girl at the pickup window handed me a drink carrier that was soaking wet on the bottom. It's all in the sauce! The Double Double was juicy, and the veggies were fresh good throughout, and adding "spread" throughout... so good. I also ordered the Animal fries which is the fries with the "spread" on top. The fries were still fresh and crispy and again... that sauce! For a fast food place, they had really good service, food came out fast as expected, and nice environment. While it's a solid location, the restaurant definitely has difficulty keeping up with the high demand of people coming in at all hours of the day. The drive thru line often gets overwhelmed and takes an incredibly long time. Inside the restaurant is generally faster and well kept. We went there on my recommendation. It was at the Ajo Way location. I had heard about them and wanted to give them a try. We don't have them out east where we live. I couldn't get the sauce since I can't eat garlic or onion so my burger was dry. AND they don't have mayonnaise! My husband had the sauce and he said it didn't really help make it any better. El Con Mall location Hands down best burger meal on the go. Way cheaper than most other fast food places. Fresh burger, fresh fries and you can order from their secret menu. Staff is friendly, helpful and professional. They are always moving and keeping up with all the orders that come in, cleaning the lobby and making sure their customers are satisfied. They said they could only put 4 max which I thought was weird because I will be paying for my burger not them but whatever now I only ask for 3 slices of cheese to equal 4 and I get this 10 slices of cheese on my burger.
