In Charge Electric has been extremely disappointing. They missed my scheduled Jan 5 appointment and didn't bother to notify me. When they finally showed the next day, the technician didn't install my kitchen pendant light according to the work order. I spent two weeks chasing their salesperson just to get a basic installation corrected--messages and calls ignored. When the technician came back on Jan 19, I was told I had to pay extra for a Deako 3 rocker switch, despite the issue being entirely their mistake. And after requesting a quote for a lighted mirror installation, I waited 14 days with zero response. Not a single follow up, no accountability, no customer care. This review is not about the technicians' workmanship; it's about the company's poor communication, lack of follow-through, and refusal to take responsibility. It's obvious they rely on mandatory builder contracts instead of earning customer loyalty. Their high prices don't match their low effort service. I will not give In Charge Electric another dollar, and I strongly urge other homeowners to document everything, demand proper service, and push back hard when companies fail to meet basic standards - you shouldn't have to chase someone to take your money. read more

I reached out countless times to the sales representative Adrian Nelson but was left on read and ghosted-- I was under the impression permitting was going to be done, and I would not have known it was not done but I kept contacting City department, and they said no attempt has been made to permit since 09/30/2025. Now in February 2026, I am disputing the charge with my credit card company now, as I have an illegal charger installed because their failure to complete the permitting. I also emailed with escalation to management, but nobody had contacted us. Surprisingly, 3 minutes after filing a chargeback with our credit card company, we receive a phone call from In-Charge trying to tell us that the charger and permitting is happening. Few hours later, Sales Rep Adrian Nelson contacts saying he is doing the permitting. This is 5 months late, and again our house, lives, insurance policy is at stake, and they ignored the problem until a charge back. read more

This company wired my brand new home and apparently did a very bad job. The house is only 2 1/2 years old and the dryer outlet is not working, the breaker might also be a problem and my lights flicker in the kitchen. The women I spoke to was rude and said they would charge me $160 just to come out. My warranty is over so they don't have to stand behind there work. Other people in the new development have had problems as well. I would NOT have this company come out and service your house. They are making tons of money wiring new housing but have zero integrity in their workmanship. She also had no idea who wired my house so there is zero accountability relative to the employees that are doing bad jobs. Update: just had an electrition come out and apparently they put in a 35 breaker for my dryer which is supposed to have a 30. So it's not even up to code. read more

InCharge Electric raised their prices 54% in the last couple months!!! I had an outlet added to a closet a few months ago, it was $185, and now today they are asking $285! There are other companies that do an amazing job and do not gouge their customers. I will not pay to do business with InCharge going forward. Ummm they had a consult scheduled in my lunch break - they don't work outside of business hours which is inconvenient but they did the home with Ashton woods the builder and were late to the consult to install a 202 outlet so I'm really disappointed and the communications are inconsistent and when you call you just get a voicemail a - when I did get a call back to schedule this and get a quote the lady receptionist was super rude - go somewhere else...they did come out to inspect for warranty though and the actually guy did a good job and updated a socket - but I don't think they did a great job in the electrical in the house overall because the garage fridge is connected to the exterior outlets and that made it trip and wasted my food last weekend and I don't like where outlets and sockets are placed they don't seem to be strategic... read more

Wow, total crooks. We fired them after learning from an independent electrician that they had not performed a huge percent of their contracted work. When we called them back for an early punch list, the sales rep reeked of alcohol and was rude and belligerent. Another huge issue, that still blows our mind, is that they did not call for required inspections. They didn't call Austin Energy for a pre-pour inspection and now, after firing them and the foundation is poured, we're screwed and have to bring in an electrical engineer on our own dime (several thousand). The following is the response from their CFO: Hi, "Your frustrations continue to be miss directed.  Your issue is with LakeHills Customer Homes.  We operated at their direction and they were fully aware of these issues.  All further communication around this matter must be directed to your builder or their lawyer.  Our contract was with the builder.  The builder is responsible for all permits and inspections." We paid In Charge for all permits and inspections, therefore the contract was with us. While Lake Hills is a complete sham and stole hundreds of thousands from us (no surprise that they recommended In Charge), it was the responsibility of In Charge to call for inspection. This has set our house back by weeks/months and is costing us several thousand which, although they were the contracted electrician at the time, they refuse to own. They overcharged, "pretended" to complete the work we paid for (confirmed by several independent A/V and electricians that it wasn't done) and sent a drunk salesman to our house. read more

The most incompetent bunch of morons you could possibly have do anything related to electrical work. Our builder hired them. We ended up with a SEVENTEEN PAGE punch list of their deficiencies! 17 pages!! They would try to refer back to the house plans when it suited them, but they didn't follow the plans. Outlets where no outlet was planned, no outlet where plans show, smart lights that were like disco balls flashing on and off, no dimmers as per plan, no USB per plan, and on and on. Nothing but stupid excuses. Finally hired a qualified electrician to get out outdoor heater working- they had EIGHT trips and couldn't get it done. Less than two hours for someone that knew what he was doing. I wouldn't have them plug in string lights on my dog bed! I seriously can't imagine that they are actually licensed contractors. The builder I used contracted In Charge for the electrical installation. I had a good electrical plan meeting. After my house was completed there was a roofing warranty that was completed but needed the electrical team to replace the wiring and lighting. I called ahead to update what needed to be done. However, the electrician, Miguel, didn't get the whole story, only that the lighting needed to be replaced. So after we discussed the full story, he informed his boss, went back to pick up tools and supplies, but no one available to help. So Miguel measured and opened the ceiling for the lights, went up into the attic, found the wiring, re-placed it and had it all in working order. This was not an easy job, he didn't complain, he just got it done! I appreciate his positive attitude and workmanship. Thank you, Miguel! read more

They came to do some repairs on our new home due to some issues with the builder (according to In Charge who claimed that our building manager Chris O'Donnell is an idiot) and they replaced some outlets. Now the dimmer switch in the kitchen does not have turn the can lights off and on in sync. What a joke. Lennar blames In Charge and In Charge blames Lennar. I blame them both. I can't speak for this companies work, but I can speak to the character of those they hire. Today ,while driving, one of their employees decided to drive side by side with me in the same lane. He was extremely close to hitting and put me at great risk. He needed to be in my lane to turn right and had no space to come over, except for being side by side with me. If the folks they employ don't care for my safety on the road, I can't believe they would care about electrical either. Thankfully no one got hurt... this time. Here is the fun timeline since sep 14 2020 I've been experiencing. These inexperienced fools have been to my home 3x in 18 days and 5x in 10.5 months with no progress Appliance guys also got the same review so don't think I'm not being fair. Moved into my "new" construction that these ppl did the electric for 11 months ago & my whirlpool washer kept blowing breakers These guys?. Everything's fine call the appl ppl Appl ppl?. Everything's fine call the appl ppl These guys?. Isolated breaker into a different spot which actually worked for about 6-8 mos Now it's happening again so around & around we go These guys?. Everything's fine call appl ppl Appliance people? Ill replace control panel that should work cause I can't find anything else. 1st test run yest & it's still happening So I'm dealing with 2 companies that have 1 job apiece & can't successfully fix something. Maybe by year 2 I'll have a washing machine I can actually walk away from for a cycle & do something else without having to babysit it. UPDATE. They came out a 4th time replaced a breaker now the 3rd test run since they were here 4 days ago and yet again same issue. Guess I'll have them make a 5th trip. Maybe this time they'll send me someone smart. I have random strangers offering to help me with this problem in 10 mins. I bought a new home in Prosper and noticed 3 plugs didn't work. In Charge electricians , Kris and Sawyer, came out in the rain and diagnosed the problem quickly. A long staple from the siding workers had pierced the wiring causing the problem. Kris replaced the 12/2 pink wire and Sawyer hooked up the plugs within an hour and I'm good to go. Nice to see In Charge has high hiring standards. Thanks! read more

We purchased a new home and had problems with flickering lights and a humming sound coming from our fans. Our home was still under warranty and the issues at hand were a bit greater than the builder had initially budgeted for. This is where the technician from In-Charge Electrical (Miguel) stepped in. Miguel was able to quickly diagnose the issues that were causing the problems. He directed my attention to the panel and showed me the wires, providing a simple explanation as to what was happening. Essentially, the problems were related to some compatibility issues with our smart switches. Miguel then proceeded to explain some of our options, next steps and lined out a clear plan moving forward. He performed some temporary work, which immediately resolved one of the issues, and then scheduled a second visit to replace a particular switch that had to be ordered. As of today, I have everything running as it should! Miguel even showed me how to use the app to control the smart switch. It is important to note that Miguel is a leader and extremely skilled in his trade. He is a real asset to the company and very easy to communicate with. He was always respectful, professional, and went above and beyond to make sure I (the customer) was treated fairly. I am sorry to read some of the negative reviews, however, my experience with In-Charge's technician, Miguel has been outstanding! read more

They will tell you "you didn't buy the ethernet cap package" but they didn't offer the package back then. Yep, that's right! You want them to run ethernet in your house!? They will happily do it! But they won't tell you they aren't putting the terminators on. You want the ethernet terminators added post-closing? Nope, they will never do it. Never ever. Poor service and poor workmanship I had a home built through Pulte Homes and In Charge was the electrical contractor. The wrong lighting fixtures were put into the home, so In Charge had to come out and switch out the light fixtures. The new fixtures were not the same size as the ones they mistakenly put in so now I'm left with holes in the walls where the new fixtures don't cover completely. To make matters worse when the workman was done, he made no attempt to clean up the areas he had worked in, leaving drywall dust, screws, and other debris for me to cleanup. I had another electrical contractor in to add extra new lighting and they made sure when they left you couldn't even tell they had been there. Do not use In Charge, poor work and poor customer relations. read more

One of the worst experience,if your builder used in-Charge and you paid for pre-wiring please know that you get half-ass service with pre-wiring. Eg: They only crimp one side of the network cable not the other. When I called for a warranty claim, they asked for $180. Absolute day time robbery. Good thing crimping network cables I have done in my past life so it was piece of cake for me but not for everyone. read more

We bought a home through Meritage and InCharge was their electrical contractor. We have had NOTHING but trouble with them from day one. Complete incompetence from "upselling" us options using the incorrect floor plan at the design center to misplaced outlets in our finished home. We asked for quad outlets in the bathroom and they initially installed 2 bi-outlets in random places around the vanity in the master bathroom. In the hall bathroom, the light switch is placed lower than any other in the house. Too bad we did not ask for an ADA accessible light switch in this bath. Further, they didn't leave the appropriate tools necessary to set up our Ring Doorbell. Complete Boobs! read more

I would not recommend this company. 5 switches have gone out in our 10 month old home. Everyone says they have never heard of switches going out yet ours keep going out. Each time one goes out the company has to send someone out to fix it. So we have to take time off each time a switch goes out. Pulte put in a request to have all the switches in our house replaced as it is a hassle for everyone to deal with one light switch each time. Last minute the supervisor tells their field employee to only fix the one switch. We had been waiting for this appointment for two weeks and no one told us the planned changed. Apparently, this company only cares about their bottoms line and does not stand behind their work or product. I would not use this company at all if you are building homes and don't want angry home owners calling you every month about a switch or if you are a current home owner since they do not stand behind their work or products. read more

Love this company!!! The company and employees are amazing. From the call made to make an appointment for scheduling an estimate to complete the installation of two new receptacles in the garage, everyone was amazing. I was scheduled for an estimate very quickly and after getting the estimate which was very reasonable, I asked how long until I could get the work done and they said they could complete it immediately. The technicians were polite, respectful, clean and completed the job in a very timely manner. They even swept up from the work they had done and I dare say that my garage was cleaner after they finished working vs. how it was when they got there. I would not hesitate to call them again for any electrical needs in the future. read more

InCharge Electrical was contracted by my builder to wire my house. The did an acceptable job but no better than acceptable. The issue with them comes into warranty and quality. Simply put, they suck. I hired them to put ceiling fans in, one of the 3 fans they installed the installed incorrectly causing the lighting fixture to later come loose and fall shattering into several pieces. Thankfully my daughter wasn't in the room. Fast Forward, we had another issue with wiring and the guy who came out tried to say it wasn't covered because aftermarket work was done on the house and it voided the warranty. I had to tell them that THEY did the aftermarket work. The clearly had no idea of what each side of this rather small operation was doing. Finally, last straw, had them come back out to do more work, right 3 times now, and this time they said the same thing and refused to fix the problem. The had the switch plates off, problem in clear sight and unless i paid them to do the work they weren't going to fix the problem. I even spoke to a manager there by the name of Bruce, totally worthless. I directly asked him if he was instructing a licensed electrician to put something back wired WRONG???? His response was, if it didn't appear to be a hazard than yes, unless we pay they won't address the issue. A Lot of drama, and for what, one wire needed to be capped off. CRAZY!!!!! On top of all this, it doesn't even begin to address the issues with the sadly mounted outlets, failed GFIs, constant breaker tripping, and other, so called NEW HOME BUGs. read more

I had two of my circuit breakers tripping randomly, and I did not have my hopes high -- after all, who wants to diagnose and fix random and hard-to-replicate problems, right? Wrong. The technicians opened and inspected every single outlet on the two circuits in question and they did find one with ground wire problem. They fixed the problem and they also replaced both breakers just in case. read more

I am not one to write a negative review about a company, but what a nightmare....especially the warranty lady Jameen! The most awful customer service EVER! I had contacted my builder regarding an issue, and they were going to proceed with an Electrican. I received a call from Jameen (on speaker phone, which is really annoying!), and all she stated was "I'm calling to schedule an electrican to come out to your home...." There was no "Hi, my name is Jameen, and I received a call from your builder to come take a look at the issues you have been having." She then tried to make me look seem like the idiot for not knowing why she was calling (not a good first impression). We had scheduled an appointment for the following week between noon-4pm, and I had provided both my phone# and my husband's, and requested a 30 minute heads up. I had taken time off work that day, and 4pm had arrived with no call and no electrician. I called and spoke with Jameen (again on speaker phone, so I had to listen to shuffling papers, and her speaking to others), and she put me on hold and called the electrician...."He is still a couple of hours behind, but he said he called you." I explained that he had not called either my husband or myself, and that we could not have him at that time, because we have a small child, and that would be too late for us (nicely, because I know things happen), and asked that we be rescheduled. I also asked if she could confirm the phone numbers with me (I knew she had the correct phone #'s as she made the initial call to me). She just rudely shot back with "I will put you on the schedule for tomorrow first thing." I asked "What does first thing mean? What time???" She shot back with 8am-noon. I asked again, "Does first thing mean 8am??" I had to continually fish for details, as she was not providing any. She said "Yes, you are his first appointment at 8am." Fine, I thought, I can get it done "first thing." Well, I waited until about 8:45am the next morning, and I had heard nothing. I called and spoke with a supervisor, because I was absolutely done talking to Jameen on speaker phone, and he contacted the technician. He got back on the phone and stated "He didn't think this job was a priority, so he went and got his oil changed this morning...he should be there in about 15 minutes." What??? It became a priority when I wasted a ton of my time, and was treated horribly! I waited for 30 minutes, and nothing!! I called and cancelled, and contacted my builder. Unfortunately, this is the only company they work with, and if I wanted to have my issue fixed, I had to use them. We were put back on the schedule, and the issue was fixed today. However, just to top it all off, the timeline receipt that was given to my husband (who Jameen obviously detailed out), stated stuff like "homeowner cancelled her am appointment because she didn't want to wait anymore" and "she wrote a nasty e-mail to the builder...." She is basically pinning the whole thing on me. I am a very patient, friendly person, but treating a customer so poorly, is uncalled for! Terrible, terrible customer service, I would not recommend them to anyone!!!! read more
