Wanted to write this review based on the wheelchair accessibility and laptop areas. There are coffee shops in the neighborhood with laptop rules that say you have to sit at the high tables. Obviously as a wheelchair user, I cannot sit at the high tables, and when I have asked the staff for understanding, other places have denied me. Ines let me use my laptop at a wheelchair accessible table without any fuss. Mark was very gracious. When I asked, he said, "we will make an exception." I felt heard without advocating for common sense and I greatly appreciate the humility. Thank you! read more

Ines is the jack of all trades of neighborhood cafes - whether you're just starting your day with a strong cup of coffee or winding down with a glass of wine after a night shift, there is something for everyone here. The coffee is excellent - I believe it's roasted by devocion. I also love how they serve their coffee in glass/ceramic cups and glasses for those dining in. I usually will get the healthy start - I love their dressing and the eggs are always seasoned perfectly. The staff are nice but can seem a little stressed when things get busy. Service above all is absolutely atrocious. No matter who serves you they're always over it and annoyed that you decided to walk into this cafe for coffee. The three times I've been here I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and cappuccino (which is mediocre and over priced) first time having the burrito it was absolutely perfect and the touch of taziki was a perfect combination of flavors. The second time it was dry and flavorless.... The third time I wanted to give it a try just to experience those flavors once more.... I asked the barista if I can pay extra for more sauce because last time it was dry and he said to me "I don't even know how to translate that" like be so for real..... you just write it down on the order or press a button or speak to the chef. This cafe is so cute, and the food is delightful! The cafe is quite small, so you may need to scope out a seat. I hear they have a no lap top policy to allow more customers to come and go. My capuchino with oat milk was so good! And I had to get a chocolate almost croissant. The croissant was incredible. I also had the avocado toast with smoked salmon on top. The portion was big! Ines seems to have all your beverage needs (coffee, wine, beer) + brunch/baked goods. While I've only had their coffee, I definitely plan on going back to try their brunch menu cause it smelled so good! Their latte was very solid! Coffee was strong and had a nice balance of espresso and milk. The barista was super nice. There is a good amount of seating inside. Loved the plants outside as well as the black/white theme with navy blue accents. I feel like I can see myself catching up with friends over brunch or trying to get some work done. Of note, I think they had a sign saying they only allow laptops after 2pm? Didn't confirm but a little sad/worried that I cant work/study in the morning while I sip on their coffee. BOMB low key brunch Woke up hungry and found myself here. Small cafe with cute decor. Got the egg sandwich which was amazing....tons of fluffy egg bacon on a huge soft fresh yet crusty ciabatta. Also got the BLAT which is like BLT with avocado which obviously makes it better. Tons of fresh avocado and juicy bacon. Came with a side of greens. The real star again was the bread - sourdough was legit amazing. So fresh. So soft. The food here is low key amazing in such a humble store. Will def be coming back. read more

I went to this cafe around 9pm, and after hours it turns into a wine bar. The lights are dimmed and the vibes were very calming and nice. I had a really disappointing experience at Ines on the UES. The cashier was rude and unhelpful from the start, which set the wrong tone. Inès is a charming coffee shop/cafe nestled on a quiet street on the upper east side. I was in the area looking for a spot for breakfast and Inès did not disappoint! The person behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. She recommended the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and I'm so glad she did! Top notch coffee shop. There are plenty of shops with great coffee these days, so that's not what makes this place 5 stars. This place gets 5 stars for 2 reasons beyond their coffee. One, their food is quite good. Good breakfast sandwiches and bowls as well as nice lunch options. But most importantly, it's their people. They have the loveliest staff. This cafe has a good Euro-South-American relaxed vibe. I don't often walk on this stretch of E. 74th because this block as bad mojo i.e. lots of construction/scaffolding on the eastern end, not as much foot traffic as neighboring streets and some business robberies on the block. This place was packed for brunch and I ordered an avocado toast to go. Perhaps that was my mistake. In the small kitchen, they have a hot plate and a panini press, microwave and not much else. Some meals looks delicious but mine did not. They forgot about my order. Some time later, a nice manager asked what I was waiting for at the bar and I mentioned my order upon which they kindly offered me something from the pastry case to make amends for the extended wait. I asked for a coffee instead which was fine. Then I saw them make the avocado toast- slicing in half the thinest slice of bread, adding one tablespoon of cold spreadable guacamole similar to if you were spreading margarine on bread and then adding a generous helping of onions (not pickled as some photos would have you believe) on top. The onions were basically a combover effect on a bald head. They are selling this for a takeaway price north of $14. If I paid $5 I would still be very disappointed by this. I would recommend this place if E. 74th street is your cross street as it has a cooler customer base than most any other cafe in the area but not if you're in a rush. Just take care not to order something you can make at home for 50 cents in 1 minute of time like I did. read more

Great breakfast sandwich vibes! Looking at pics before coming here, I was worried the bread vibe would be too much. But, it turned out to have a perfectly crispy exterior coupled with a very soft and fluffy interior, so the vibe wasn't overwhelming at all. If I had to summarize the ambiance of this spot in one word: vibes. I've only come here once in the morning, but I can't wait to come back. The salmon tartine had me drooling, and I cannot wait to order another one. I will point out that the menu says the salmon tartine comes with pesto, and I feel that this is inaccurate. The vibrant green sauce on the tartine seemed to be basil oil, not true pesto. It did not appear to contain pine nuts, garlic, nor any kind of cheese like Parmesan or pecorino like one would expect in pesto. Don't let this deter you though. It's still delicious, and I think the fresh flavor of a simple basil oil was actually better than a true pesto would have been. My sister got the Brie tartine. To be totally honest, I thought her tartine looked disappointing compared to mine. It was much smaller, and of course simpler, but the size of it alone was what really made me not want it. That's one of those items where I would have wondered why I didn't just make it on my own at home as soon as I received it. It looked like they were liberal with the honey, which was heartening, but I personally would still not want to order that in the future. My one qualm with this place is that regardless of whether or not you stay, you're going to get a plastic to-go container. I suspect this is because they have very limited space to make food and drinks, so using real plates is just not an option. I wish they would at least opt for a compostable container option if using real plates is not possible. I also tried one of their hazelnut chocolate filled donuts. I personally preferred to pop this in the microwave for ten seconds before eating it once I got home. It was already delicious and fluffy, but it was ten times better once it was a bit warm and melty on the inside. Their oat milk latte was solid.
