I highly recommend Improovy Painters! I worked with the Improovy team to paint accent walls in my apartment last year, and to repaint them back to their original color when it was time to move. The team is prompt, very courteous, reliable, and they do PHENOMENAL work! My original accent wall color was a deeper, golden tone (which looked fantastic), and when I commissioned their help to repaint them to their original white color, it was like I never had accent walls, lol! See the before and after pic below; Improovy is the real deal. It was also an affordable job, and they work with you every step of the way. You can trust their Project Coordinators to make sure you get exactly what you want. Once again, I highly recommend working with the Improovy team for your next paint project! Special shout-out to Carr and Mike for making the process simple and straightforward! read more

I had a fantastic experience. I spoke with Carr virtually and received a quote with a great discount on top of the line paint. Literally the next day 4 guys came (Diego, Isaac, Peter and Victor) right at 7AM. The prep the guys did was perfect. My floors, furniture and entire home were protected before they opened any paint. The quality of the painting was perfect as well. Improovy + Diegos team deliver exceptional quality and results! read more

We could not have had a better experience working with Carr, Daniel and BJ at Improovy. From the consultation to the finished product, they delivered exceptional service and truly went above and beyond, even delivering samples to our house over the weekend. The entire first floor, upstairs hallway and bedroom were done in 4 days and they left no trace. The customer portal was an awesome touch so we could track progress made each day via descriptions and pics. I will be using Improovy for any painting projects from now on and telling everyone I know! This was the most painless, professional experience I have ever had. Carr came out to look at the job and got back to me immediately with a quote. The quote was highly detailed on what was included, potential add ons, etc. which made sure we were on the exact same page on the scope of work. Given this was a pretty intricate exterior from 1872, it was important to get it right! They were ready to schedule whenever worked for me, and they were flexible on the date given other house projects happening in our house-- a must. Oscar and his team painted, and they were so kind and communicative. He talked me through every step and communicated when they needed to delay (rain), when was best for me and my kids to paint the door (I need to get them to daycare!). The best part? Everything looks amazing. Fabulous all around at a great value. read more

Responsive and professional. They took our old house with walls full of flaws and a flaky bathroom ceiling and made them look brand new. BJ spent extra time making sure it was done right and still finished in just three days. read more

I was highly unimpressed with Improovy. They had a difficult time even providing a quote for a basic exterior paint job. They also seemed meaningfully overpriced as compared to local competitors. I would not recommend working with this company. read more

Christian did a great job painting a half bathroom in our house. Would definitely use Improovy Painters again.

We used them to paint our house and front porch. I think the results speak for themselves. They were cost effective and very professional and responsive. Definitely worth checking them out! I will post a picture soon! read more

My experience with Improovy is that they operate in the opposite of their mission to "restore trust to the trades by making the lives of homeowners and painters better". I do not trust Improovy, I do not recommend them. Improovy used a painting company, Top Painters who do not have property damage coverage through their insurance and are not in good standing with the IL Secretary of State. They damaged my newly finished flooring beyond repair in the spring of 2023 to the tune of over $30,000. They used a sharp object, likely a razor blade, removing paint on the floors near the baseboards in ~30 places and scratched deep down into the wood. The painters told me they do this routinely to scrape paint off where the tape fails but then claimed to their insurance the deep scratches were from a "floor varnish problem" and the scratches occurred from removing painters tape from them. See the pictures for yourself as they did not occur from removing painters tape. Improovy's insurance denied covering, then sent the claim to the painters insurace (who I never directly hired or paid) & found their insurance does NOT COVER PROPERTY DAMAGE even though they caused it. Improovy nor Top Painters returned correspondence to me & answer the question of if they are going to pay for these damages, and the insurance claim is now 5+ months after occurrence. Also, Improovy (as stated in other reviews) charges for more expensive paint than what they use. They initially recommended I use Duration paint in Eggshell which does not exist. When asked about why they recommended paint that doesn't exist & if I was going to be charged for the more expensive paint they did not answer. The painters were initially careful but unprofessional & sloppy in the return to my home. Initially they covered my floors/ furniture & I paid extra for complete coverage; upon return to complete work including Re-sanding, mudding, & painting they did not fully cover my floors and did not cover ANYTHING in bedroom. I was appalled to find them mudding directly over my bed that was not covered and there was paint/mud splattered on my TV, router, nightstand, bed, bedding & all over the floor. Autumn Ramsey, "field manager" returned to my home, began scraping paint off my floors with her fingernails & I had to stop her from causing more damage. Improovy offers estimates over the phone based on pictures/videos and they over-promised services they could provide. They promised ceiling seam repair which would not take, were redone several times & eventually they stated future repairs would no longer be warrantied (this made sense since they couldn't be repaired but the work should not have been promised to begin with esp considering they increased the price after taking a 2nd look at the photos). Improovy stopped contacting me however and did not request final payment. I did pay a deposit and now I additionally have over $30,000 of damage to my home since they need completely replaced and can't be repaired. Improovy states they have a warranty on their services to be performed with reasonable care and skill but that did not happen. (I emailed Eddie Alvarado a production coordinator about the warranty and their guarantee of timeliness after numerous cancellations/ delays due to miscommunications btw Eddie & Autumn, but they did not respond to those questions). The painters painted over the seal of almost all electrical outlets & HVAC filter covers & thus could not be opened without ripping the paint and drywall off wall. I don't consider this "5 star" work. They never apologized for what their painters did in my home, despite acknowledging the damage & poor workmanship. I gave them opportunities to respond before I submitted insurance or wrote any reviews of my experience but they didn't. I was exceptionally polite to all despite being furious about the experience. Don't hire a company that has a website that states they have no control of the quality of services the painters provide. When I hired Improovy I hired and paid them directly and had no info about their painters. I asked Tony - their lead painter of "Top Painters" on their first arrival date why I couldn't find them on Google & he claimed it was because the owner was a "family man" who didn't want to be on the internet. I should have canceled the job then. Even Improovys own insurance carrier told me that they had trouble obtaining their credentials and getting correspondence from them. I question how they have all these excellent reviews. If you are a homeowner, question the painters Improovy uses in your home. They are not as stated "the top 1% of painters providing the best quality work". I would think the top 1% would at least be listed on the Better Business Bureau. Choose a company who does their own work, is actually fully insured including property damage and has word-of-mouth references. This was by far the worst experience I have had in almost 15 years of homeownership. read more

I did a diligent search for the best painter for my living room and bedroom and went with Improovy and, boy, did I ever choose the right one. From initial, and further, conversations with Mike and Daniel to the amazing paint job by Alex (Alejandro) everything was perfection. A flawless experience from start to finish. Excellent painters! I recently moved to Chicago and needed to have our condo painted. Not knowing who to call, turned to the internet to search for painters. Ran across Improovy and could not believe how many great reviews they had! The whole project was smooth and unbelievably fast. The work is basically flawless! The lines are excellent. The crew was prompt on arrival (down to the exact minute!), cleaned up the area very well, courteous and unusually quiet while they worked! Would highly recommend and not hesitate to use again! read more

I don't typically give reviews (as my profile here would indicate), but this team deserves one. In summary, incredibly pleased with the experience - the team was professional, transparent, completed the project on time, kept me informed throughout the process, and overall happy with the results. For those interested, details are as follows: - Prior to purchasing the home, my realtor had someone from Improovy come to the house during the inspection to check out some drywall issues. They returned a quote quickly, helping us figure out how to proceed with the sellers. - We wanted to have the entire interior of the home painted. About 2500 sqft, 3 beds, 3.5 baths - walls, ceilings, window/door trim, and baseboards. We had about a month between when we closed and when we moved in, and we wanted the painting done as quickly as possible after the close. Chris, who coordinated with us on the front-end, was able to provide a quote within a day by looking at pictures of the home online, and was able to get a team lined up about a week after we closed. We didn't have a lot of time to shop around and compare - what we did learn was that some painters wanted to come out to the house (understandable, but not feasible before we closed) or were unable to do the project in our preferred timeline. We shared our quote with friends who have had painting work done recently, and all thought the quote was very reasonable. - Andre (owner) and George (team lead) were on-time the day the project started. We did a detailed walkthrough, and they highlighted places throughout the house where it looked like some drywall work might need to be done that we didn't see during the inspection, or places where the painting might not look as "clean" (e.g., where caulking had been done, etc.). Being a first time home buyer, they were patient with me and responded to all my questions without giving me the sense I was being too picky (which I am). When we decided on what additional drywall repairs I wanted done, they turned around a quote quickly. - At the start of the project, I decided that I wanted all of the closets painted as well, and also needed some baseboard installed. They were able to turn around a quote quickly that I believe was very reasonable given the incremental effort, while also taking into account the large scope of the work already being done. - As noted before, I'm picky, so I was at the house most days to see how progress was going. Had an electrician out at the same time, and he needed to open up some walls to move cables. The painting team worked around him, and was able to help close up the walls and paint over them so it looked like nothing had happened. George was great - he would listen as I asked a bunch of questions or wanted something done differently, and would work to make it look like I wanted. - We have noticed a few things that need touchup or we didn't see as part of the final walkthrough. Being an older home (20-ish years old), it's been hard to tell whether it's due to the condition of the walls that we can now see with a new paint color, or some minor misses when finishing up the project. Regardless, Andre and the team have been awesome at coming back out and doing touchups, which is all part of the service. Overall, highly recommended, and would definitely use again for any future projects. read more

I was searching for Chicago painters near me in the Lincoln Park area to paint my home's basement and contacted Improovy after reading through their great reviews. In addition, I needed to find a Chicago painting company that also could install new drywall and trim baseboards in the basement, so this was a way more extensive project than a simple interior painting job or handyman-type drywall repair or patch. From start to finish, working with Improovy was much easier than any other Chicago-area contractors we've ever worked with. Without question, getting my interior painting quote online was easy, Improovy's prices were very fair, they were able to start the very next week, and their professional painters really did an amazing job painting my basement. Not to mention, they were accommodating and took extra measures to keep my home clean during the extensive drywall and trim work being performed. They even worked into the weekend to finish on time and communication was not an issue as they updated me every step of the way. All in all, my basement looks fantastic and we could not be happier with the ease of process and the quality of painting workmanship. We highly-recommend Improovy if you need a reliable house painter in Chicago that does quality work at a great price while providing an easy experience for you. Thanks again to Andre, Juan, and the entire Improovy Painters Chicago crews! read more

Great quality. Crew was super professional, did great work and fast. Chris, the coordinator, was incredibly timely and got me answers to questions many times within minutes. Not the cheapest option out there, but you get what you pay for. I was able to get a quote and project started within a week so was happy to pay a premium for getting the project completed in days. read more

Improovy is da best! We have used their services a couple of times and we have had a positive experience overall each time. We had a leak in our closet that needed drywall repairs. We also wanted the ceiling and walls painted. Mike and Daniel were quick in getting everything all scheduled and a crew readily available. Jose and his team were on time to start the project. They finished much faster than anticipated and the quality of work was excellent. Thank you again for all your help! read more

Highly recommend Improovy for any and all painting jobs. From the second I inquired more information on their services the communication was above and beyond any company I've ever worked with. They took the time to answer all of my questions and communicated throughout the process. My painter was Jose and he was the absolute best. He was so nice and explained everything once he got there. He patched up several nail holes as well as fixed patch work that a different company did. The paint looks amazing and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!! Thanks Jose and Improovy!! read more

One of the first things I wanted to do in my new condo was paint over the walls (lemon/lime weren't my style). After reaching out to various painters, only Andre was able to give me a confident quote the same day without even needing to schedule time to come out and see it. He talked me through all of the details and made sure I knew what I was getting. His quote was also well below anyone else's, AND it included a paint consultation. He was also able to get started on the work immediately. I put him in a challenging situation where I wanted the job done before Christmas Eve. He started the Wednesday before and was able to complete the job (1900 sq ft, moldings, and doors) in 5 days! A special shout out goes to his team from Millenials Painting, who was able to navigate around me moving stuff in the day before they wrapped up. Andre was communicative every step of the way. I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out. read more

First the good aspects: The colors we chose and the paint job make our condo look way better than it did when we bought it. The lead painter did do a pretty good job. They did a really good job protecting our wood floors with thick paper, and they did not get any paint on the wood floors, carpet, or tile. The price was lower than some other companies. Now for the not so good: The painting was scheduled for 5 days, ending on a Friday. They took 6 full days. This caused the cleaning people doing the pre-move in cleaning on Saturday to have to work around the painters and in a hectic environment. The cleaners were not able to do everything they would have done. And they could not be rescheduled because we were moving in next day. Improovy hires subcontractors, and in our case the subcontractor (call them Sub), hired other subcontractors, of which one was the lead painter ( call them Lead). Sub doesn't do any of the paining. Apparently they take the job from Improovy, get the paint, and find painters. There were at least three different workers on our project. I was only here on days 1, 5, and 6, so there could have been more. Two of the three seemed like they might be day laborers. One didn't know how to paint but did prep work. Lead painter was a professional painter and largely did a good job. Third painter did some of the smaller rooms and baseboards. He clearly did not know really how to paint. White paint on bathroom faucets, fixtures, door hinges, outlet covers in the laundry room. Super annoying to have to clean all that off. Also brush marks evident around outlets and switches. They did not remove any of the HVAC registers or return vent covers, just painted around them. So when I went around to replace those, I also had to paint the unpainted part, because the new covers were slightly different sizes compared to the old ones. (They did remove most outlet and switch covers prior to painting, and replaced them when done.) Improovy says they always, always paint two coats, but I was here on the last day until late in the evening, and they only painted the few dark accent walls once. They look fine, but that always, always statement did not match reality. Under the right light conditions, you can see the 4 inch border around the windows, thermostats, etc. This is because they painted around all the trim, baseboard, etc. And they then allowed it to dry before painting the field with the larger roller. This is a little disappointing when you pay thousands of dollars for professional painting. read more

It has been 6 months since Improovy came out to paint most of our house. We booked them to paint the entire lower level of our house, a bathroom, powder and two bedrooms. The previous paint job done in the house was excellent, but we hated the colors. We must have received a subpar crew because the quality just did not live up to our expectations, particularly in our dining room where we had a dark blue color painted, which really brings out the areas that were done sloppily. The worst area is around the crown molding where lines are uneven. In our sons' bedrooms, we paid extra to get another coat painted on the walls and you can still see through to the original paint color in some areas. Additionally, we have beautiful white built-in bookshelves in their rooms and the line work is awful. In the bathroom, I had to go back in and repaint a section because it completely peeled up after a few weeks. We had a flat coat painted everywhere and really wish we had gone with a semi-gloss paint in the bathrooms. The crew was completely unhelpful here and basically said they'll do whatever we want. That's great, but we wanted their professional opinion here and regret not going semi-gloss. After Andre saw my negative review, he came out himself to touch up some areas, and he did give us a few hundred dollars of our money back, but after living in our house for 6 months, paying an obscene amount of money to Improovy to paint our house, and seeing the paint jobs in other friends' house, we did not get the quality we expected and are pretty disappointed overall in what we received. I plan to get the house reviewed and fixed by another company one day but for now, we have to live with it. I'd recommend going with someone else but based on other reviews, we may have just received a subpar crew read more

Absolutely first class experience. From our first zoom call with Carr to the meeting with Eddie as our project manager to the work being done by Tony and his painting crew, I literally have nothing but great things to say about Improovy. I highly highly recommend them to anyone looking for an affordable, professional and courteous company. 10 out of 10. read more

I did not have a good experience with Improovy. They contract the painting work out, so experience may differ but the crew that painted my house was not proficient. I had brand new floors and asked them to protect the floors and be careful. They left several large scratches on the floors, overspray in my bedrooms, spray dust all over the floor after they left, drips on the floor and trim, paint on some outlets and switches, and several spots the previous high gloss paint is not covered. I do not suspect they completely primed and painted with two coats. improovy offered to have the contractor come out to fix the mistakes, which he did for about 10% and they offered me a small discount. We had to push our move in date and I am still correcting the poor paint job a month later. I cannot recommend Improovy, I feel they did not provide a professional paint job. read more

I'm new to Chicago and didn't know where to start when looking for a painting company to give a fresh look to the condo I purchased. I resorted to my go to place which is yelp. That's where I found Improovy and read wonderful reviews. Not only did the painter do any excellent job but the company had very competitive pricing and great customer service. Highly recommended. I now have a beautiful and fresh condo that I can call my own. Thank you! read more

I found Improovy through yelp and saw their good reviews, and saw that they used Benjamin Moore paints. The paint colors I'd chosen were Benjamin Moore brand, so I went with them. Chris was the main guy I talked to who coordinated the painting project, and it was smooth sailing from there. He told me a 1,250 sq ft job would take 3 days, but the men who painted my place finished in 2! They also fixed some of the walls that were kind of janky and had holes in them. Overall, they did a fantastic job, and I'd definitely use Improovy again. I highly recommend using them! read more

These painters went above and beyond! We had a very tall and difficult space with storage cubbies and they painted all the way into the back of all the storage cubbies which I wasn't expecting. I thought they would just do line of sight! They were fast and did a great job! Highly recommend! read more

Improovy has a lot of moving parts to it, as it is a larger organization--which is great overall, though, it led to some lapses in communication. When that happened, though, they were always very apologetic and accepting of responsibility. With regard to our job in particular, we were getting the interior of our home painted. There was a snafu with scheduling, which would have greatly impacted our move-in timeframe (along with a slue of other contractors we had scheduled), and DeAndre (our crew leader) worked hard to make sure to fit us in according to our timeline. That said, they did a great job with the house and we are looking for them to come back in the near future to help out with ceilings and doors! read more

Improovy was very overpriced for what we got. They claimed to be a more "high end" option, yet only acted as a middle man to a team of painters. The painters who came over were great, but you could tell they didn't really know what was going on and were third party and Improovy had just sent them out to do the job. We only had one floor and stairwell painted and when they got here they tried to charge me more to sand the walls when I was only ever told I needed to wash them before they came, not sand. I couldn't pay that extra cost on the spot, so I had to say no and now I don't like the sheen they switched our paint to or the marks left behind. They also forgot to paint two small walls and left marks on walls they weren't supposed to paint. Overall, claiming they are "high end" painters just wasn't true. read more

I contacted Improovy to stain a large backyard deck in the western suburbs of Chicago. The two painters (Omar and Israel) did a fantastic job. They came one morning to power wash, then took 2 days to stain (It's a big project, I actually expected it to take even longer than 2 days). Omar and Israel were 1)polite 2) respectful 3) meticulous 4) patient. Before they left they asked me to do a walk through to see if I'd like anything touched up. We bought a very old home, 5 years ago, and have had countless contractors, painters, etc in our space. These two guys (and Improovy), take the cake for professionalism. Couldn't be happier. read more

I requested a handful of quotes for painters after closing on my condo, and Improovy stood out right away. Cole was quick to provide a quote, and made himself available for follow up questions as needed. Cost-wise, Improovy was about the same as the other quote I requested, but the responsiveness and professional-looking quote sold me. The painters, Mike and Max, did a fantastic job on the entire place, but especially on some very high ceilings and some difficult louvered doors. After the job was complete, Improovy sent a follow up packet with the paint colors and finishes to have them handy for touch ups or repairs in the future. Really great experience overall. read more

The overall experience working with Improovy was very efficient and hassle free! Everyone was super responsive from the moment I submitted the quote through the day the job - I never waited more than 30 mins for a response to any question. The day of, the team worked very meticulously even with the crowded space and the tall ceilings, and they reviewed their work very closely for any needed touch ups or clean ups. The best part was they stayed late to finish in 1 day rather than taking up the whole weekend! A couple notable mentions: they wore masks the whole time, carted away an oversized vanity mirror that had taken down, and all wall repairs were smooth by the end. read more

They were quick to respond to my inquiry & worked within my budget. They were late the morning of to start the painting, however they made up for it by finishing it sooner than they anticipated/quoted me. They were meticulous and everything looks so great. I purchased my own paint for the project & due to my walls being dark and needing to go lighter I had to get more paint. Juan (manager on my project) went out and bought the extra 2 buckets of paint that we needed which made my life a lot easier.
