He laid out many different options while still keeping our budget in mind. We finally had the work done today. The great thing about our service was he got it all done in one day. We didn't have to leave our truck and wait for parts to come in. He ordered them ahead of time and called us to schedule the service when the parts came in. My husband is loving the look of his new truck. We left I.S.C. feeling extremely happy with the work we had done. Ray didn't try and sell us something we didn't want or need. Brought my 2015 E350 Mercedes Benz to Import Service Centre for a second opinion for a cylinder misfiring issue after PEP Boys incorrectly misdiagnosed my car's issue as an internal engine failure due to a possible leaking head gasket or cracked engine block. What a relief and blessing it was when the head mechanic, Ray called to report that my car had been throughly re-tested and the cylinder misfire issue was caused for a faulty ignition coil. This might be my second review. Phil and Raymond deserve it. I have a 12 cylinder Jag. Real pain in the butt to work on. I had it towed in on Thursday. The brakes locked up. Phil knew what was wrong before the tow truck even got there. I have never put a timeline request before. I told them the car was a display car on Sunday and needed the car fixed pronto. Sure enough, these guys for it done for just over $640. I'll take any surprise on a V12 Jag for under $1000 any day of the week. I cannot begin to say how terrible the service is at this place, I rarely post anything online ,however it should be shared, I cannot believe I went back twice, charged me for work I did not need , Dude that works there broke my headlight and told me to go to a car recycle yard and cut off a piece of a vehicle and some how install myself. I cannot make this stuff up, the owner on my second visit had to run out around the building to find said repair man who was mingling with people, for all others that had a good experience I am happy for you, but this employee ( only one i have ever seen) was terrible. And my headlight is still not aligned right after he tampered with it. He actually broke the carriage for the light. Said he could not fix it. My experience , true story. read more

I have a 1985 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel with about 150,000 miles on it. Since I bought her, about 5 months ago, she's been having engine power problems and problems with the vacuum system (older Mercedes run off a series of vacuum tubes). Also recently, a grinding noise started up from the rear left of the car and the passenger window switch went out. I brought my car in to Import Service Centre because traditional service centers don't have the equipment or experience to fix an 80s era, W123 chassis, Mercedes. It didn't take long at all for Phil, the owner, and his crew, to figure out what was wrong with my car. It needed a vacuum system repair, a new rear left axle (turns out my axle had busted open and a bunch of junk had gotten inside and destroyed it), and a new passenger window switch. I left my car with Phil, they ordered the parts, and the repairs only took a few days. When I picked my car up all the problems I had left it for had been fixed. My Mercedes could now shift properly, could get up hills at a normal speed, the window locks would automatically go up and down as they should, the passenger window switch worked, and the grinding noise from the rear left was gone. Price-wise I did not compare to other repair shops but I had all that work done for about 1,500 (parts + labor). They also guarantee their work for 1 year or 12,000 miles. Phil is a man of few words but he gets the job done. Not talkative, but competent and to-the-point. I am very happy with the work they did and would recommend them to anyone needing to have their classic or import car repaired. read more

Great mechanics! Both Ray and Phil are very knowledgeable. Ray is excellent at troubleshooting and they keep our cars running great. Took me 7 years to finally find a mechanic in Brea area that does great work at reasonable prices. Started bringing our Toyotas (Tacoma & Prius) here in 2013 for routine maintenance and always got great service and fair prices. Now they work on our Range Rover and still do a great job. Have been to many other shops in the area with poor or high prices. I'd been looking for a good, reliable and trustworthy mechanic shop for years and that's what I found at Import Service Center. The owner Phil now wants to ck my car after we spent thousands there and he refused to correct a rich running condition which he created working on the carburator and we couldn't pass smog test . we had to spend days and hours to find someone to correct his errors. We had to take it back 4 times to fix licence plate light which he finally admittted they were after market and was mad at me because we wanted it fixed correctly, Especially after paying full price and 4 trips on my time and gas, and no discount offered. And now as of today calling his customers nasty names, Not a proffessional business owner at all. I must ask for a refund now. He refused to honor his own warranty and forced us to go and pay agian else where. Stay away from Phil,,,,Please save yourself some problems and being called out of your name. read more

I have been taking my Mercedeses, Jaguars , Triumph sportscars and Toyota products to Phil since 1981. After I had taken a 1958 190SL to several places including a Mercedes dealer, that could not recognize or diagnose a serious problem, I heard about Phil, who immediately diagnosed the problem correctly as a hairline crack in the crankshaft which would only be become noticeable at certain higher running RPMs and torque. As an engineer myself I recognize him to be not only very knowledgeable in his trade but also very straight forward, honest and reasonable. I would not think of taking my classic cars anywhere else but to him for any mechanical work and advise. read more

We have been taking our 2003 Jaguar S type sedan to Phil for 10 years now- which is probably why we are still driving it. We have had no problems with the work done on the car and Phil has never tried to upsell or over-charge for his work. On the other hand, having previously taken the car to a well known and large Jaguar dealer's service department we were upsold and ripped off for work the big dealer with the fancy espresso machines and Taj Mahal showroom, mechanics did wrong. The big dealer then tried to charge us to correct a problem the big dealer's mechanic caused out of ignorance (or worse). On the other hand, our experience with our local independent import mechanic , Import Service Center, has been only positive. The problems with our car were correctly diagnosed, they were corrected, the prices were fair, the car returned on time as promised and Phil is a gentleman and honest to deal with. Ray, his technician, is top notch in his training and skill, in dealing with very complex and often, "persnickety" vehicles. The garage is clean, organized and uncluttered-- a sign of a technician that is on the ball and knows what he's doing. And for anybody who is an LA Rams fan, you will love Phil's waiting room/office. read more

About three months ago I stopped by as I needed a brake light replaced. Ray was kind enough to install it without any charge which since I had never been there before was really appreciated. As I was needing a new mechanic for my Jaguar XK this week I went back for the 40,000 mile service and to have them correct a problem with the air conditioning draining into the passenger floor area. I had been quoted at other places as high as $1500 to correct the a/c issue which I thought was ridiculous. Eventually frustrated at being quoted anywhere from $700 to $1500 I called Jaguar who told me it was a 3 hour job and should be $350 to $395. Armed with this information I met Phil, the owner, and felt immediately comfortable with his familiar British accent and friendly and straightforward manner. I am also originally from the UK and I felt that here is someone that will treat me fairly and with respect and I was right!. Phil and Ray did a fantastic job on the service, they were prompt, thorough and told me exactly what needed doing now and what could wait until the next service. They also gave me a ride back to my office which was really helpful! On the a/c issue Phil had contacted Jaguar and received the spec sheet on what needed to be done (it was a known problem) and although they actually spent 5 hours correcting the problem they only charged me for 3 as per their estimate, saving me over $200. I cannot say how much it means being a female and knowing that there are good, sincere, trustworthy mechanics out there. read more
