We took my wife's BMW to Import Motors to avoid going to a car dealer (Patrick BMW are crooks, see my review for details). It turns out Import Motors is an honest place that offers fair pricing for work. We'll definitely take her car back there for more repairs as they're needed. It's nice to know of an honest mechanic in the area! Update: 5 years after finding Import Motors we can't stress enough how awesome and honest they are. well, first of all i don't know much about auto repair. For me, to go to an auto-shop is a dreadful experience as i don't really know what is going on and whether folks are trustworthy or not. My friend recommended me this one. She found it out through good reviews in Yelp and Google. The guy at the shop was very friendly, able to identify the issue with my car right away, and fix it into a great back to perfect condition. I'm happy with the service. The part that shocks me the most was the $95 labor per hour.. I don't know what the usual rate for labor is but this seems very pricey. I wish i had done more researches before say yes to them once they gave me the price quote though. read more

Good, honest service. John is great to work with and doesn't give you a bunch of BS or try to sell you on uneaded service like you get at the VW Dealership. He even showed me all of the parts he replaced without me even asking. His pricing was also very fair. I got estimates from 3 other places and he was on the lower end. At the end of the day his estimate was also pretty much spot on. Hard to find people who know and want to work on VW's so am very happy to have found this shop as the car continues to fall apart. I found this shop by accident three years ago in my search for a specialized independent Subaru dealer in the area. John and Mike are great guys that are customer-centric, friendly and fair when it comes to part costs and labor. I've seen them on a couple of occasions recommend to customers that selling the car, rather than a costly repair bill was the best course of action, you can't beat that from a service standpoint! Not to mention, its refreshing to not be up-sold on a bunch of unnecessary add-ons like you get at other chain repair shops. I'm female. As I write this there is a visible sense of relief. I intensely dislike all things auto related- the buying, the warranties, the mechanics etc...However, a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders and I finally feel free!!. For months I was going to my Mercedes dealer with dread because one problem after another seemed to kick in on my 7 year old ML 320. I started to hate my car and seriously considered selling it. Then I came to the Yelp community and found Import Motors. Excellent reviews and 10 minutes from my house? I decided to give them a try. WOW!! That's all I can say. John was great. He explained everything to me in detail with diagrams and plain English. Stan (the man), was equally patient and explained the breakdown of cost. Which was waaaaaay lower than any quote I ever got from my dealer. And Yoshi pointed out things that could wait and things that would be best to take care of as soon as possible. This is how detailed these guys are folks. No B.S. I left paying under $200.00!! I'm still in shock. I went there to check my car i paid to check the car on the computer them the mec, told me not sure what the problem was that he need to check again each individual parts of the each check for $110, that was going to be over $1000 dollars, this do not make any sense since a BMW dealer only charge one fee to check the car and tell you what jobs needs to be done, very disappoint with this place try to rip-me off but did not happen only paid one time and have no answer of what the problem was the mec just one more money beware of this place. read more

I've been coming to these guys over the last 8 years and they've always been great. Most recently I had a check engine light come on for my Acura and first took it to Napleton Acura since it's across the street from my work. They wanted $1,600 to fix the timing chain. I knew they were trying to rip me off so I called up John and he said he would do it for $500 plus parts. It came out to about half the price of the dealership. Do not go here! John is kind of rude, and charges you for things that are not even the problem. I had 3 wheel bearings replaced and 2 of them went bad within a couple of months. Either they are using cheap parts and charging for expensive ones or they do not know how to install parts. He then proceeded to tell me a different bearing was bad and charged me when it wasn't. First of all I would say don't risk them and take business else where. Owner is very dishonest, they were selling a truck that I saw forsale I went and looked at it and the owner at the shop swore up and down nothing was wrong with it and there were no leaks. At that point I noticed the powersteering was leaking very bad. I'm s young guy and don't know much about cars also. I heard a loud noise while test driving and the guy said "it's nothing" so I buy it. Take it to a mechanic and he says it's got a rod knock...... Mechanic explains he had to of know about it. Bottom line, sketchy owner and dishonest shop. Don't make the same mistake I did read more
