When our basement recently flooded again, we figured it was a no-brainer to go with these guys. Wow, what a mistake! Unfortunately, All of Northern Virginia is now routed through the Richmond office, and they're worse than worthless. After the initial visit/set-up, they repeated appeared for follow-ups at times OTHER THAN what were scheduled. This meant no one was available here to let them in, and our efforts to re-schedule were typically ignored/visits missed. This dragged on for SEVERAL weeks, and it didn't dawn on us at the time that they were simply padding things.....extending as long as possible to maximize what we could be charged. Even when "complete", the job was half-a**ed at best. We tried to address this with their management (especially given the absurd charge they'd hit us with), but....no surprise.....our emails and calls went unanswered. Only when they demanded payment did we hear back....and then incessantly. My wife explained that we'd be paying them 2 weeks after receipt of the invoice, but the calls resumed literally the day after it arrived (threatening us with collection multiple times). I'd love to figure out how they came up with well over $5K for the bill, but....at this point....we just want to be DONE with them. My advice, go ANYWHERE else....this office is a complete scam!

Bare with me on the long post, but its worth reading…read moreand learning what we went through which could change your decision on who you chose for home damage/repair work. Note, I never post reviews on yelp or social media but this is beyond acceptable service and if we can help one family from making this mistake its worth the time to share our story. 1. The Background: We had a dishwasher water leak that caused floor and cabinet damage in our kitchen. I'll start on a positive note that the team who did the drying out service and ensuring all mold was removed was good. However, they offer services to repair all the damages which I would recommend anyone to stay away from and find another contractor. Our issue started in June of 2024 and its nearly November of 2024 (so 5 months) and we are still waiting for our kitchen repairs to be completed. Contractors can build an entire house in 5 months, but apparently ServPro can't repair a kitchen in that time. 2. The floor: ServPro installed flooring that we picked out. We were made aware of mid-way through the install that the flooring we chose needs a different subfloor. They said they could rip it up and we buy something else or we could pay to change all the sub-flooring at our own cost. We couldn't return used wood flooring and not afford all new sub-flooring, so we had to move forward with what we had at the time. We now have new flooring that is already showing "soft spots" and separating and will need to be replaced. This should have been shared and discussed BEFORE the floor was installed. They put all the blame on us for choosing this flooring and will do nothing about it. 3. Kitchen floor removal and non-damaged cabinets: When the old floor was removed they used a heavy duty tool to pull it up. When they did this in the kitchen they caused our non-damaged cabinets to be removed from the wall as the old flooring butted up to the cabinets. They denied they caused this damage for weeks until they finally admitted it was most likely caused from removal and they would repair. Honestly, what else would cause these to come off the wall beyond what they did during removal? Seems pretty straight forward what the cause was but they denied for weeks. 4. Water damaged cabinets: They sent out a team to remove/repair the cabinets first. This repair was shown in the work order to be $2000 for repair of 3 standard cabinets, which seems really high to me as you could just buy new for cheaper. They came out three times and attempted to install subpar repairs and it was determined by our granite contractor that they would not install the granite due to the poor quality and levelness of the cabinets. After months of going back and forth ServPro agreed to buy new cabinets as their team could not get it right. 5. New cabinets: Once it was determined that they would just replace instead of repair the team came out to measure, and working with us, to pick out replacements. It was showing that the cabinets would take about 1 week to arrive from Home Depot. 1 week goes by, no update from ServPro, 2 weeks go by but no update from ServPro, 3 weeks go by and we eventually called them to find out what is going on. We were told they would get back to us with an update. Another week pasts with no updates. So we called Home Depot ourselves to find out what was taking so long and discovered ServPro NEVER ORDERED THE CABINETS! We called our GC and he said he forgot to order them. We are now a month and a half of waiting for cabinets and still nothing. 6. Granite: We were made aware that its possible that the granite could be damaged beyond repair once removed and that was the case. This we believe is partly due to how they "braced" the granite once the cabinets were removed with a make shift 2x4 to hold up hundreds of pounds of granite while waiting for new cabinets. I will note that we have a young child and pets where this temporary brace could easily have been knocked out of place and caused serious harm. Even our GC was shocked at the temp brace solution and took pictures to send to his team. 7. Pricing and billing: We paid nearly $7k upfront to get the work started in June of 2024. In October of 2024 we get a bill in the mail that we need to pay the remainder $6k+ to them by end of the month. We obviously are not paying anything until all work is completed correctly. 8. Summary: We are now in month 5 of not having running water or full access to our kitchen and floors that are already falling apart. We literally have to run a water hose from outside into our temp sink to do dishes. It has been nothing but dismiss, lack of empathy, false promises, unexplainable poor project management, and overall the worst customer service I have ever seen from a company in my entire life. After a year into the claim their adjuster Adam didn't even realize that it was a two story house and that we had damage upstairs and down! How in the world do you have my best interest at heart when you don't even read the estimates from your own company? In the end they never submitted the cabinet quotes to the insurance company costing me thousands of dollars and months of haggling with the insurance company. Just a small amount..... $1880.72 from VRS and another $2309.04 from the insurance company for repairs not submitted. When Gani finally visited, he seemed unfamiliar with the project and focused mainly on upselling upgrades because insurance was paying, even suggesting LVP flooring despite our home having hardwood. Once repairs began, communication continued to be difficult. We had to repeatedly request updates, which were often ignored or met with frustration. While we were staying in an Airbnb, we were suddenly given one hour to choose between two floor stain options--neither matching our original floors--and had received no prior notice that a decision was needed that day. When I called to ask about additional options or samples, Gani became irate and dismissive. Eventually, the subcontracted flooring company provided several proper stain samples, which resolved the issue. Throughout the project, the work felt rushed and we had to repeatedly point out problems that needed fixing. The project also ran later than promised. When we finally moved back into our home, we discovered several issues: one of our lamps had been broken, paint was on our Dyson vacuum, and one of the bathrooms had been left in extremely unsanitary condition. When we raised this with Gani, he told us he would submit another claim to our insurance company so we could receive a check to cover the damaged items, rather than his company reimbursing us directly. We started our kitchen recon 6 months ago, and here we are today with no cabinets, no granite countertops (that they broke then tried to ask our insurance company to cover the costs), and improper flooring that is already lifting in multiple spots. This project has been a nightmare from start to finish, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone. First off, Aaron Lee and Matt Duffy have been completely unresponsive throughout this process (until I finally went into the office as they weren't taking our calls) . After weeks of waiting for updates, they refused to speak with us at all now. And when we tried to push for a resolution, they sent our remaining balance to a debt collector after we had paid 50% of the costs upfront, with nothing to show for it. They fired our project manager, Benjamin Thomas, who was the only person who genuinely seemed to care about our project. Aaron specifically asked for all of the documents I had gathered so they could review the costs for the correct cabinets , only to fire Benjamin the same day. It's clear they have no regard for their customers. The pictures speak for themselves -- my kitchen is still not finished. The first photo was taken during the "reconstruction" phase, and the rest of the pictures show the sad state it's in today. But even more disturbing is Justin Ballas swore it was safe, but when I walked in to my house I found my daughter and two dogs underneath a huge piece of granite (held up by a 2x4). I could've lost my family. This was beyond dangerous, and no one seems to care. How is that up to code?? How is that ok? To top it all off, the floor installers told Servpro midway through the flooring installation that our subflooring wasn't adequate enough to support the new floors. Without warning, we received a call from Tyesha, who told us we had to pay extra for the removal of the floors, (that were currently being installed) for new subflooring, new flooring, and for the installation of the new floors - none of which were disclosed to us in advance. So not only are we now out $10K, but we are still without a completed kitchen, still without proper flooring, and still no resolution. We have tried every possible avenue to communicate with Aaron and Matt, but they have refused to speak with us. This has been an incredibly stressful and costly experience, and we are still left with nothing to show for it. A few weeks ago they sent our remaining balance to a "debt collector" and included their lawyers fees. Yet we have nothing to show. What did they do with the money that we already gave them?? As for the job itself (garbage disposal replacement) the service tech tried to unjam the old one first (which would have saved me money) but came to the conclusion the old one was toast. Installed a new one quickly and cleanly. Price was exactly as quoted. As he was boxing his tools I asked if White Glove did any water quality testing and explained a problem I suspect I have on my supply line. He offered to take a sample on the spot that would be sent off to a lab. He quoted me a price and said I could pay in a week when the sample came back. How much more could I ask for? Great first experience with White Glove. They are at the top of my list for future needs.
