Lots of good things to say which I was surprised about; right off the bat the reviews were very mixed? I heard that the chef been changed from previous. The food used to be overly salty. However, tonight everything was sooo delicious and flavorful. The restaurant was surprisingly big and pretty nice inside. The waitress and waiters were nice and paid attention to details (kept trying to offer us high cars for the babies) . Waitress even kept rushing the kitchen for our food even though it wasn't that long. The gensing chicken soup was quite small but so much chicken inside. It's slightly bitter but sweet as well. My favorites for the night has to be the eggplant and the braised pork belly. The honey walnut shrimp you can't go wrong with anywhere. My picky son even ate two bowls of rice with his sides. We had a table of 12 and everyone agreed the food was perfect tonight. It was a $400+ bill though about $20-40 a plate. Under new Management and new chefs; I heard from a friend who is also a great chef told me that the food here now improved so much. Probably the WORST Chinese restaurant in the Kent area!!! 0 service, 0 for being attentive to customers and 0 for basically lack of employees, servers and management. We decided to go get some lunch at 1:20 PM on Friday, 5/19/23. Got seated right away and were sitting there looking at the menu. Picked out what we wanted and were waiting for the waiter to come and pick up the paper for our Dim Sum order. Waited until 1:30 PM and nobody came to check on us. There was some Filipina woman occupying the only male server in the restaurant, trying to order some food to go. We did not see any other server at all, NOBODY else was present!!! Had to walk and wait until the guy was free to take our orders to dine in!!! Saw new people lined up at the door waiting to be seated, but left after a few minutes since nobody cared to seat them at a table!!! We waited and waited... And waited some more. Time got to 2:05 PM and saw people who had ordered before us receive their food from the only server in the restaurant. The guy kept going back to the kitchen and getting food, but never for our table. That was the last straw, we had had it!!! Waited for 40 minutes with lack of attention to our table, never received refills on water (had to get a new pitcher myself), never took our order (had to walk and give our food order paper to him), and never got our food. When there's a long wait at Triumph Valley, you can count on Imperial Garden as there's barely a wait when we went on a Saturday morning. The restaurant is pretty spacious so it can fit a lot of people. Upon taking a seat, you will be handed a menu and can make your order there. The food and service was okay. It's like walking into my own nightmare but it charged me 85 bucks for 2 adults and 1 toddler. Will never come back even they pay me to. Changed ownership, not serving Peking duck anymore, became a lousy and expensive Chinese restaurant. Their signature is supposed to be BBQ, but the quality is laughable. Chicken is dry, pork rib is all bone. Oyster is not fresh at all, prepared with ultra thick gluey stuff (maybe starch) to hide the fact that it's not fresh and tastes bad. The picture on the menu is a big lie, the difference is at the edge of being a scam. I can barely recognize where are the oysters when it's served. They're renovating but still taking customers. This place is now called Hiji Barbecue. Was a bit confused with the signage and to make sure we were in the right place. It is in with the Great Wall shopping strip mall in Kent. The service was a bit lackluster and this is the only reason for 4 stars and not 5. The food however was definitely 5 stars. Piping hot to our table. We had the Kung Pao Chicken and they did not scrimp on the usage of peanuts. We also had the beef broccoli and eggs rolls both of which were very good. The hot tea was Jasmine and was wonderful. Most of the restaurant was filled but we didn't have to wait for a table. They use ordering sheets for the dimsum (rather than traditional push cart style), and curiously all of their pens have a plastic spoon taped on. Dimsum was served pretty quickly. The chicken feet was good. Shumai, shrimp dumpling, ribs, and egg tarts were okay. The fried taro dumplings could be better, but that's one of the more difficult items to make well. We also ordered a eggplant dish, which ended up being deep fried egg plants with a lot of flour but not a whole lot of flavor. It did not taste good. Overall, most of the dimsum were okay, but I think the places in Seattle Chinatown are a little better. The bill was $50-ish, which isn't expensive. For really good dimsum, it's still worth the drive to go up to Vancouver. read more

I think this is a decent place if you are craving dim sum and don't want to wait forever in Chinatown or Top Gun in Bellevue. There was fast service and they have taken the cart system away after quarantine. You check your list on paper and give it to the waiter. This gives me Vancouver vibes in terms of decor and that is more open and spacious. You don't feel like you are sitting cramped right next to the table next to you. Will be back when in the area, overall a very good experience. They are known for their authentic Peking Duck experience which I will try next time. This Dim Sum restaurant has gone to an entirely different service set-up. Gone are the servers walking steam carts throughout the restaurant. Now, much like many other Chinese restaurants, you check off items wanted on a printed menu to place your order. Choices, with respect to dim sum, have dwindle down quite a bit. The good thing is they still offer No My Guy (sp?), the steamed sticky rice filled with a ground pork filling and a very small piece of Chinese sausage...very small. Still one of my favorites. The Rainbow Shrimp were delicious and each dumpling had a good sized piece of shrimp. It's called rainbow shrimp as each dumpling is a different color. Similar fillings, just different colors. The Pork Shu Mai was as good as ever. Little cups of noodle dough filled with pork hash & I believe a tiny shrimp in the center. The fried tofu was HOT! Not spicy hot, but just-out-of-the-fryer hot. Be careful. The tables are still covered with white table cloths and the number of tables have been removed in order to maintain separation. Servers were not wearing masks or gloves, and disinfecting dispensers are provided upon entering. I still believe the restaurant is one of the better dim sum restaurants in the area (Kent, Renton, Federal Way, etc.). Can't forget the Chinese Oil Dipping Sauce. It's great! Now it's served in small dishes vs the flip-lid containers that used to adorn the table. With respect to the Steamed Hum Bow buns, there are two versions. One is steamed (nice fluffy white dough), the other is baked and covered with sugar crystals, which gives it a kind of hard topping. Pork fillings are limited. Highly recommended. read more

I think the selection probably is more the important factor as in general dim sum restaurants rarely miss the mark on flavor profile. I used to come here pre-covid and one of the things I love about dim sum is when the employees roll carts around and you can actually SEE what you are ordering/getting to eat. I would give this place 5 stars for the dine-in experience but today I decided to try take-out dim sum and it was one of the worst nightmares a foodie could encounter. I called in an order from the comfort of my home thinking what could possibly go wrong? The lady who answered my phone call couldn't speak fluent English (which I don't expect much), I was going off a menu on Yelp that wasn't even a year old (usually photos of menus are 3-5+ years old so I don't trust it for being up to date) however dim sum items don't change often but prices can. I had to repeat my order at least 3-4 times and I prayed that she got it correct. I mean, I read off THEIR menu which they should know right? I saw that they had honey garlic pork ribs specifically on the dim sum sheet (not the regular dinner menu) and think "oh nice! $7.75 for dim sum portion pork ribs" and the lady at first said there wasn't and then she said she can... (wait for it). Before I hang up, the lady tells me it will be $70+ and I'm thinking to myself... did I really order that much for 2 people?? Anyways, I haven't had dim sum in awhile so if there is leftovers, then that works for me! I get there and ask for the itemized receipt and I see first thing on the receipt "Honey Garlic Pork Ribs $17.99" and I'm like uhhhh excuse me? You quoted me "$70 something and my bill is almost $90??? I'm sorry but I hate being that ONE PERSON who acts like a Karen in a restaurant but when it comes to food and I'm paying that much, I want to make sure I get what I paid got. We walk out, stop by across the street to run an errand, I check in the car because I can't get over the feeling they messed up my FAVORITE dim sum dish... and lo and behold... it's not what I thought it was. I drove across the street in a rage and stomped in (if you know me, I'm totally being dramatic right now), and showed them the picture of what I ordered... and they are like "oh the BBQ PORK BUN" and I'm like yes that's what I ordered. Asked them to remake what I paid for and I waited in the car. Ok, so now that I've finished eating and no longer hangry, I still believe their food deserves the 5 stars I would give it when I used to dine in but the take out experience I encountered today unfortunately resulted in a 2 star review. This is a really solid place to have dim sum--probably the best place to have dim sum in the Kent/Renton/Tukwila region but hard to compare to the dim sum in the Bellevue/Seattle region. There is a wide selection of options, so it is understandably difficult for them to make everything perfect. Some of the dishes were cold when they arrived at our table, but others were freshly made and piping hot. I really enjoyed their egg tarts (which were extremely flakey and delicious) and their har gao. Some of their other dishes simply did not have enough flavor. If you are planning a trip to this restaurant for dim sum over the weekend, make sure you show up early because there is usually a 30-40 minute wait around noon. He kept going on about how he's gonna give me the special sauce and extra special sauce and its gonna be great, honestly I felt like I was at a car dealership. So i get home and they tasted really bland and old. As if they were from the morning batch of dim sum that nobody wanted. Because they probably were. Its just such a let down. "Photo unavailable" seems like the common element. The staff smiles, but many are not english speaking. We asked for hot mustard. We were given AMERICAN hotdog type of mustard. GIVE ME a BREAK! Most chinese resturants have hot mustard, and is served upon request. This type of mustard is sold in powered form in the stores. The restaurant has 2 condiments given upon request They are Sriracha and Hotdog mustard. Soysauce and the Chili sauce is on the table. The only other inteaction. asking for boxes and the bill. We ordered the House Chow Mein. A photo was unavailable! The noodles were Ramen Noodles heavily flavored with MSG! I counted 2 pieces of shrimp, some red union slivers, and nothing else! My MSG headache got me mid meal! The Steam Spareribs with Kaboocha was as bland as could be. The STEAMED Pork Dumplings was ok. But, there wasnt any warnings prior to ordering. 2 peanuts rolled out when I cut it in half. Not bad. Pretty generic, but I guess it's above average for dim sum. Feng zhao (feet) - About average. Good amount of tenderness in the skin. Sauce is not too salty or oily. Your mileage may vary. Radish cake - Good texture and thick, but only lukewarm when we got it. A little disappointing. Nuo mi ji (sticky rice) - It's alright. The umami in the rice isn't the greatest, but the size is decent, and there's meat and sausage. Pork ribs - Generic. This one was fresh though and the meat was savory. Not bad. Fu zhu juan - Probably one of the best items we got. The juices were bundled up nicely, and the mushroom flavor really shined through, instead of just low quality meat. Yu tou (taro dumpling) - Huge and tasty. Excellent crispy texture on the outside. Well done. Jie lan (Chinese broccoli) - Generic. Not much to comment on. Normally I don't like this dish much. Chang fen - Oh, is this a vegetarian version? I think it's just mushroom in this one. Not bad though. Fen guo - In my experience, the crappiest joints don't serve this, so the existence of this dish by itself indicates a certain level of quality. Nuts, celery, and more, yummy. Not hard to please me with this one. The place looks decent too. Definitely cleaner than your average dim sum place. I can only speak for my Togo experience - and based on that - I don't recommend anyone to order from this restaurant. I grew up from fish man family -3 generations. So I can tell if seafood ingredient is fresh or it has been store in refrigerator for days. What I received from this restaurant is absolutely horrible. - Crab meat is yellow and dry vs fresh crab meat is white, tender and moist. Crab meat is yellow (dead before it was refrigerated) dry (dead for days so it has been dehydrated when it was store in refrigerator), got it now? Lobster over cooked noodle: - noodle is not fully cooked ( easy to fix, no big deal) - lobster meat is mushy (lobster is dead for many days minimum of 1+weeks and it has been stored in the refrigerator for many days in order for the meat to be as mushy as cream mushrooms soup. This is $20+ per lb dish and over $64 dish. I immediately throw away all of them- it is not safe for anyone to eat it unless you want to have diarrhea the whole night. Like I said, I'm not sure about the dine in, maybe the ingredients will be fresh- but it is absolutely concerning and questionable why they, including the chef will use days or even weeks old ingredients to serve consumers. read more

We ordered shu mai (super plump, pork and shrimp filling that doesn't have too much mushroom flavor so my partner even liked it), shrimp dumpling (also well filled and nice chewy wrapper), chicken feet (great flavor very tender), Chinese doughnut (looks like they cut one donut into thirds), the football (my FAV, perfectly fried but still chewy and sticky on the inside, though I do wish there was more filling), and the pork buns (my partner liked these a lot). One downside, we had ordered potstickers which were just meh and didn't get to us until we had basically finished all our other food. We've been here a few times and each time the food has been consistent. Portions are fair and pricing is decent but not cheap. Dim sum pricing is a little pricier but considering the times prices are going up everywhere. It's a matter if the food tastes good along with great service, if not, then it wouldn't matter how much it is. Haven't had anything here that we haven't enjoyed. Service is a bit tough as you can tell they are light staffed but doing the best they can under the current circumstances. They are checking for proof of vaccination so we appreciated that. Wish this place was closer to home as we would visit more often but definitely will be back. read more
