Anything we have ordered has been delicious every single time we come here. The service has improved remarkably and this is my new favorite place to enjoy fresh sushi, Pho and savory Chinese food. The owner Sophia, is wonderful and welcoming. read more

Been here a couple of times to gather my thoughts. Food is above average but could easily be improved. Number 1 is that it is never ready on time and somehow never really hot. I live 5 minutes away and always have to reheat it. Number 2 is the lack of sauce and spice, nothing is remotely spicy and you need to get a baby spoon to maybe get a scoop if sauce off the bottom. Number 3 is their prices charged are higher than their menu. Almost not noticeable but I noticed, just print new menu's if you raised your prices, pretty bad business practice. Outside area is very dark as is the restaurant, need some lighting. read more

Best bone in spareribs I've had ...wonton soup wasn't too salty as most places. Great noodles and duck sauce served first.... I don't ever order crab Rangoon, but they came with the combination plate and were excellent. The restaurant is also very beautifully decorated...everything is new!!! Best in RI so far for me. read more

Reversing the practice of the early colonizing imperialist, Imperial Dynasty rolled into the western world of Mahwah looking to dominate and take over the Chinese Food World. A lovely establishment, with a wonderful ambiance... these imperialists have the vibe game under wraps. Dimmed lights knocking away the potentially self shaming and self fattening frights of over ordering. The mellowness sets a scene that must be accompanied by way too much food. Like way too much. Order all you can. You deserve it. You work 9-5 sometimes 8-6, what else do you have in your life? Nothing. You aren't in control. ~ You work for the man, a man that you don't even know. You don't even care to know. You wish to be away on an island, in the sun having fun at noon in the middle of the week. But that's not modern society. That's not your modern society, that's not ours. The future will be brighter... will be better. Unoccupied by work our future generations thrive, unbeknownst to the old traditions of work weeks. Old boomers grumble and mumble, but instead they should be happy. Happy that the tireless rat race has concluded. That the rats got the cheese. You missed out... but don't be jealous of those who didn't. ~ You know what you do control? You control what you are ordering off the menu tonight. Oh man doesn't it all sound so good right now? I could just rip off my tongue and throw it against the wall right now I'm starving just thinking about it. Egg roll, boneless spare ribs and dumplings for the app. All for me. Imperial has a nice egg roll, nice and crisp and good filling. Chicken with broccoli at massive proportions, lo mein and fried rice both scraped off the roof of my mouth as my eyes couldn't deny my taste buds long enough for the heat to settle. Very good fried rice. That is always nice to see. Such a simple meal but you can really tell the difference when it's a very good one. You know what I like? A lot of egg in my fried rice. Fry me up. More cholesterol the better... your doctor is lying to you. Just go work out. Slightly elevated levels are good for the muscles. Big muscles. Big dumplings. Big dumplings make big muscles. Big muscles need more dumplings to replenish. Life like a circle. Imperialism is like a mishapened circle, an obscurely malformed oval that continues to expand until it is occupied by all under one umbrella - ella - ella - aye - aye - ayayayayayayyy! Anyways yea get the blood moving and the bum bouncing here. It's a good option, not the best around but good times I can promise ya that. Dr. Linguini Bonotucci, signing off. Prescribing you with another lovely review. read more

Our go to Chinese place! The best of the best- we only ever do take out so we can't speak on their service but it does look like a nice quiet place to enjoy dinner! Our favorites here are their lo mein, chicken and broccoli, and boneless spare ribs. read more

Very good experience at this restaurant tonight. Service great, food was very good. Can't wait to go back!!!

Above par, for sure. The decor, the service, the ambiance (classical musical playing) and the food are all exceptional. Will be back! read more

Ordered some takeaway tonight. Shrimp lo mein, chicken and broccoli, 2 egg rolls and spare rib tips. Food was ready for pick up within 20 minutes as they had stated. I don't know what has happened but their food has literally lost its flavor . It all looked appetizing (except for the ribs), smelled lovely but upon eating, it was lacking in flavor. First off she had gotten the order wrong, I had ordered spare rib TIPS, she gave us RIBS. The ribs were paltry with VERY LITTLE MEAT ON THEM. And once we took a bite, it was like having a pork jerky rib. DRY and CHEWY. It was like ribs have been sitting in the oven or under a heat lamp ALL DAY. And at $17.50!! WTF? A literally waste. A real disappointment we made by ordering from Imperial Dynasty. They used to be good & tasty. Never again. pity. read more

Beware, this restaurant is VERY inconsistent. We have ordered take-out a few times, (mostly lo mein and egg rolls) and sometimes its good and sometimes not good at all. Most recently we ordered the appetizer Szechuan dumplings in Sesame Peanut Sauce. We had it once before and it was very good, this time, the pork stuffing was rock hard. Difficult to cut! Sauce had no heat at all and noodles were gummy. Threw them out. Ordered Cold Noodles with Sesame Peanut Sauce. Not the typical sauce preparation you might expect. Noodles were way too al Dente and completely dry! A scant amount of tasteless sauce on the bottom of the container. Threw them out. Dinner was Chicken Chow Fun. Noodles were completely overcooked and mushy. Wish I had taken pictures. Restaurant is pricey for serving size. We won't be back. read more

It's all about the food! Delicious egg drop wonton soup. Love their beef chow fun. The woman at the front desk is rude not only to customers but to the poor girl behind the register that shouldn't be working at her age. They need someone else up front who is more friendly. But the food is so good it keeps me coming back. read more

Ten of us celebrated my sister in law's birthday here yesterday and had a memorably delicious meal. We ordered the likes of old school poo poo platters, dumplings, pork fried rice, spare ribs, moo shu pork, shrimp with walnuts , won ton soups and traditional ramen plus other dishes. Just about everything was absolutely delicious and we are used to eating in NY's Chinatown which is a very high standard to compete with. I recommend that you give this place a try since Chinatown is a bit of a trek from Mahwah. The service was also spot on and the staff were very accommodating. read more

My wife and I had dinner there on a Saturday evening. We were seated promptly and the service was good from start to finish. Their egg drop wonton soup was excellent as were our main plates. I had General Tao's Chicken and my wife had the Hunan Double Delight with shrimp and scallops over a black bean sauce. My only criticism is that the fried noodles delivered to the table were not as described on the website. They were not wide and did not seem to be house made. They seemed on par with what you get in a bag at lower end take away places. It is a BYOB and we did bring a good appropriate wine so we were fine. read more

Have always enjoyed the food here, the very best of bad NJ Chinese food. I find it odd that there is no way to find a menu online. Guess I will order based on memory. Odd, no?? read more

Really 3.5 stars but rounding up for fun. Easy parking in the lot out front. Ordered dumplings. Wonton soup. And pork fried rice. The rice was very good and just what you would expect. The wontons and dumplings are where they lose points. The filling is way too hard and dense making the dishes less appetizing. Will updates with more when we order more. read more

I was looking to eat something quick was driving around and came across this place. The restaurant is very nice, fancier than most Chinese restaurants. I ordered the chicken in garlic sauce and it was some of the better I have had in the area. This is not "fast food" Chinese by any means. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and thinly sliced. The garlic sauce was yummy, and had a little kick from chillies that were added. The food was not greasy at all. I took out but did not order ahead, they were very fast, I only had to wait like 5 min. I will be back to try more of the food, probably sit in next time. read more

This is our go-to Chinese place when we don't mind paying a bit more than most Chinese take out in the area, and honestly the money is worth it every time. This is one of the best Chinese food. It's very high quality. It's not your normal hole in the wall. This place has a beautiful dining room. Service for eating in or take out is the best. I order the chicken and broccoli every time. Always great flavor. Chicken is always moist, not tough at all. The broccoli perfectly cooked. Also ordered spare ribs. Great flavor. Great sauce. My favorite from here is fried dumplings. Cooked perfectly with great flavor. This place is more high end so it will cost you more $$, but it's worth it. No chicken and broccoli combo here. You have to order pork fried rice side order. I don't mind spending extra $$ as long as it's worth it. This place is read more

How do I give evan 2 stars? Last night I ordered kung pow chicken. what I received was peanuts with a little chicken. No bell peppers, no red peppers, no vegetable of any kind, just peanuts and sauce. They should have said "We're out of that." No more take-out. read more

The food at Imperial Dynasty was excellent. We had egg rolls, steamed shrimp dumplings and fried dumplings appetizers. All were cooked perfectly and very tasty! We had the chicken corn soup that was delicious. For entrees we had the pan fried subgum noodles, lo mein and the Amazing chicken. The service was excellent and our group enjoyed our time there. read more

I stopped in here for lunch a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised, so I headed back there for dinner with my boyfriend and we were not disappointed. It took a few minutes to get a table, but once settled our waitress, Karen, greeted us and asked for our drink order. First, I love the decor here!! Classy, clean, and open with warm, deep earth tones. The dining room has a rich feel to it- you feel like you are in NYC rather than a strip mall. Thought was put into details- stone vases instead of the typical clear glass on each table; nice, weighty flatware instead of the tin-like utensils at most restaurants (I kind of want a set for home!), even the menus are printed on heavy paper with a matte finish, not the glossy laminate every other place uses. Utensils, dishes and drinkware are stylishly different and classy - I have been to really expensive restaurants that don't serve with this much elegance. We started with wonton soup- the wontons were thin, delicate, and delicious. My boyfriend had the chicken with broccoli, I ordered the Happy Family (chicken, scallops, shrimp and beef with Chinese veggies). Both were really good, but not served as hot as they should have been...in fact they were not much hotter than warm, if that makes sense. Both dishes were good though, large portions with plenty of meat and fish. The service was exceptionally good- Karen was friendly, eager to make us comfortable, and gracious, as were the hostesses. The menu is on the pricier side, but then again this is not a takeout joint, this is the real deal. Overall, a great experience, and highly recommended! read more

Enjoyed the fairly-priced eat-in lunch special, but watching the staff "clean" and reset a table that a customer just left with the customer's used cloth napkin to wiped down the table with water from his used drinking glass put me off from future visits. In a community that contains many like kind selections it would be refreshing to have something unique here. Adequate but not special

Upon arriving I handed the lady a $20.00 bill. She brings it back and says that her boss said she can't take it because it's too old. She then asked if I had another form of payment and I told her no. She then states she can't take the money because it's fake. I told her it's not fake and take another look. I guess an African American woman can't have a real 20.00 bill. read more

Food is ok, however, service needs a lot of improvement. From the moment we walked in, we didn't feel welcomed. The woman behind the counter wasn't even smiling. She looked us up and down before proceeded to sit us down with what looked like a frown on her face. She wasn't any better when we left. Maybe she was having a bad day. Our server was okay, but a little rough around the edges. I enjoyed the chicken and corn soup and shrimp with salt and pepper. The fish with Hunan sauce was so-so... It's fried fish smothered in thick sauce. Ambience is ok. Not really a good place for little kids, but a good place for intimate dinners. I don't plan on going back there. I've been to better places with better service. read more

I strayed a little out of my usual geographical area of eating and made a pit stop in Mahwah on my way up to Woodbury Commons. I was glad I stopped to try Imperial Dynasty. I tried some typical Chinese American fare here ( lo mein, chicken and broccoli and chicken and shrimp) and it was very good and a great value. They have daily lunch specials everyday including Sunday's (12-3pm). For about $8-$9 you get soup, entree and either ice cream or pineapple pieces. Food was good and the service was great. Recommend if you are in the area. read more

Surprisingly good Chinese! First week in business so my expectations were low. Spicy really isn't spicy but still good. The only negative is the screaming children. After growing up in Brooklyn, and going to college in Manhattan, I made my way to Northern New Jersey. Much to my horror, I discovered that, after China 17 closed and Look See went down the tubes, that there wasn't any edible Chinese food anywhere in Northern Bergen or nearby Rockland County. What the heck am I supposed to do when Passover ends then?! Well, yesterday we were trying to figure our what to do for dinner. The outlaws were here, and we didn't feel, like burgers or Italian food. My wife mentioned that in one of her not so rare shopping trips, she noticed that a Chinese restaurant opened in one of the new strip malls on Franklin Turnpike in Mahwah, so we figured it was worth a shot. Much to our surprise, Imperial Dynasty was really good. I started with the hot and sour soup. It was good, not great. Flavor was decent, and it could have been spicier, it was still okay, and on the Bergen County scale, very good. I ordered a chicken in garlic sauce, the wife shared shredded beef with scallions with her mom, and the father in law had chicken in black bean sauce. Now, my in laws are wonderful people, but they are definitely not gourmets. However, I will report that father in law thought his chicken dish was excellent. My wife and mother in law really like the beef dish. I tried it and thought it was very good too. My chicken in garlic sauce was very good. I will admit the chicken did have a slightly strange consistency, but it tasted great. The sauce was excellent, and full of garlic, which I love. I wish it was a bit spicier, but the taste was great. Also, we all commented that the dishes were not terribly salty, nor were they greasy. Overall, we were quite pleased. The service was good, and the restaurant itself was really nice too. I finally have a Chinese restaurant to go to. Woo hoo! read more
