This place is great! Doc helped me out when I was due for a new prescription and made sure I had the right one for my eyes. Dude's a good man and is very kind and very helpful. He puts in the extra time to make sure your experience in gettting new frames/contacts is as smooth as possible. read more

I went to Imperial Beach Optometry a while back for an eye exam, and my experience was fantastic. The staff is professional, the wait time was minimal, and the doctor had a great sense of humor and kept the mood light. My experience was such a pleasant one that I decided to purchase my sunglasses there. They didn't have the pair that I wanted in their inventory so they took down my number, ordered them, and called me when they were in. The price was fair and they even helped heat them and mold them to my face to get them to fit better. I will recommend this place to everyone. Thanks for the excellent service! read more

Excellent costumer service, was able to get a late appoinment since I couldn't get off work early

I am new to the area and was in need of an eye exam for new contacts. I called and was able to get a same day appointment and the staff was great! They were super friendly and helpful. I never been to this place before but I broke my eye glass and needed a repair fast. I found this place because it's really convenient for me. I came in today to get my eye glass fix and I was really impressed on how Isabel took care of me. She was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. She fix my eye glass in less than 10 mins and to top it all she hooked me up and told me it's free of charge. The place is very inviting, clean, and organized. I would highly recommend this place to my family and friends. read more

Wow what a great office. I went in as a new patient and was able to get an appointment that worked with my schedule with in a few days ( usually when your a new patient at an office and have specific times it takes weeks). Then being a new patient I was expecting the appointment to take a long time. Well that wasn't the case I sat in their waiting room for maybe 2 mins before I was called in. The girl was super friendly and knew exactly what she was doings so all the test went by super fast. Then she took me into the room to wait to see the dr. Well I shouldn't say wait because it literally took a minute for him to come in. Well he was awesome loved him. Oh a I failed to mention the girls at the front are so friendly and efficient and made setting up my appointment and checking in so easy. Thank you all I will definitely bring my family and recommend you to friends. read more

Amazing Doctor. He was very professional and friendly. Both my daughter and I were seen in less than a hour.

I have been to various optometrists throughout my life and not once did I receive such a thorough exam until visiting Dr. Hanono. After going to a corporate "optometry office" I was given the wrong prescription and had been using glasses that were not meant for my vision. Dr. Hanono took the time to clear this up and to absolutely make sure I was given the correct prescription. Alongside, his equipment is state of the art and provides you with a complete and comprehensive review of your eye health. The other doctor and staff are very friendly and eager to help and ensure you receive the proper eye care you need. I was also very pleased with the glasses selection. I would recommend this practice over and over. read more

Even when i had other insurance, then went back to him after many years. He remembered me and my family. He is a very caring patient Dr. He remembers personal things. Him and I always talk about dogs, he had a jack russell and I had a jack russell mix. I've recommended Dr Hanono to several co workers who are so happy with him as well. I contacted Imperial Beach Optometry today so that I can get my kids in to see an eye doctor before school starts. I used them for my glasses (work insurance) and my Aunt uses them as well. I told her that my kids are on Medi-Cal (not the free MediCal, the one I pay a fee for every month because I cant afford normal insurance for all three of us). I also told her that I work full time from 8am - 5pm and would love it if I could get an after-hours appt (my job frowns on me taking time off work). She put me on hold so that she could verify their insurance was good, then came back and said that the doctor only sees Medi-Cal patients on Wednesdays from 9-12pm and some other day but I was so angry that I was being segrated by the rest of their patients that I don't remember what she said. I thought about it for a minute and said well how much are the exams, because I need it I figured I would just pay the fee. She went on to tell me that they were booked and would let me know if they have any openings. I didn't even argue, you don't deserve my hard earned money and with the issue my son has in his eye, I am not sure you would provide the care that is needed to a "MEDI-CAL Patient". Well Thank you IB Optometry for making a working class single mother feel like a second class citizen. I will find someone else to assist me with my children and let everyone in IB know how you treat WORKING mothers who can't afford anything other than Medi-Cal coverage. read more

Excellent customer service both from the doctor and from staff! Got my glasses in 1 hour :)

I've lived in Imperial Beach for about a year now. I'm all about proximity and convenience, so always choose doctors close to me. I've had some pretty bad experiences with my PCP here in IB, so was hesitant to go to an eye doctor here, but went ahead and made an appointment. Honestly, this is the BEST optometry office I have ever been to. Was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and painless the whole process was. All of the front desk staff were so nice and accommodating. They even fixed my broken glasses for me, which I sprung on them randomly. Even the dreaded "eye puff" test seemed less anxiety-inducing. My girl did it pretty quickly - less anticipation the better! I saw Dr. Abraham Hanono. He was very personable and friendly. Normally, eye exams are kind of awkward and unpleasant, like I'm failing some kinda test I didn't study for. But Dr. Hanono was very precise, amiable and good-humored throughout the exam so it flew by. I was interested in trying colored contacts and was able to try on multiple contacts to decide what I liked best. Overall, they run a very tight operation here and the customer service is excellent. Plus, they're right next to Wally's Marketplace and CVS which I frequent often. So all around super convenient. Happy to have found an optometrist I like here! read more

As I had heard excellent things about imperial beach optometry, I decided to give them a try after I had purchased a pair of designer glasses that was giving me a lot of issues at a different office. Dr Hanono's office is state of the art and meticulous. The staff was so attentive and the doctor's concern to address my problem gave me complete confidence that he would do a great job. And he did!!!! I am so happy that I discovered Dr. Hanono!! read more

I've been coming here since I was a little child and got my first my pair of glasses at about 6 years old I believe. the optometrist was senior Dr. Hanono & now I go see his his son who give the same exhalent service and makes you feel like family. they're office, the rooms, the equipment are all very clean and neat. I had recently a couple months back went to check my eyes and purchase a pair of reading glasses with transition my eyes are very sensitive to the sun and a pair of prescription sunglasses and Dr. Hanono Jr. remembered me. The son, he's a great guy, he'll explain in words that you'll or we'll understand compared to those fancy medical terms lol! All they office assistant are very kind and get to helping or seeing how you are doing or will assist you in anyway possible. after my exam I had a huge variety of quality glasses to choose from such as the classic Ray Ban, Tommy Hilfiger, Gucci, Prada, Coach, Spy, Oakley, Harley Davidson and many many other brands that I haven't heard of but were very nice, solid firm frames (quality) and there prices on the frames are to bad either and they always have there deals when you buy more than one frame. I got a pair Ray Ban reading glasses with transition lenses & Vonzipper prescription sunglasses & I saved nearly $200+ on two pairs and my prescription is expensive. last year I got one pair and it was $400+ with the frames, my prescription & transition, this time it was $600 give or take & they had my both my pairs ready in no just a couple days. oh yeah and they also have some really cool limited edition sun glasses that are all natural wood, the style of them is great for those hikers, surfer/body boarders, outdoor enthusiasts, I'm really happy with my glasses and this office. Thank You Hanonos and Staff read more

Almost as soon as I posted my last review, I got a call from Dr. H Hanono. He was quite concerned about my review, especially since it was on Yelp! He went on and on about how many patients they had, etc. I tried to explain to him how/what happened, but he was so busy defending his practice that he wasn't listening to me. He said it was because I'm a diabetic and have cataracts. I told him I did not have cataracts, and he said yes, I did. I'm a diabetic and everyone over 50 has cataracts. I told him that no one had ever told me that I had cataracts, and he said, well maybe they hadn't progressed much, but I did have them. He said he didn't have my chart with him, since he was at home, so he couldn't tell me about them. He didn't have any problems calling me at home, though. I got tired of listening to him back-peddle, so I finally hung up on him. Then he called my cell phone. When I realized who it was, I hung up again, so he started texting me. I told him I no longer wanted to be his patient (he kept saying to come in and he'd fix it, but second time was a charm, and he gets no third time). I also said that if I had cataracts (of any degree, as far as I'm concerned) I considered that poor medical practice. Haven't heard from him since then. read more
