Dr. Huang was very pleasant and the office was efficiently run. I was seen on time and got everything done promptly. I know from visiting other offices, which run some extra routine tests. If you have concerns, you should specify if they will conduct certain screenings. However, I was satisfied as I primarily wanted a vision check-up. Located across the street from Macy's. Office is under renovation but they clean up nicely before patients arrive. If you buy glasses from this office, they have a huge backlog anywhere from two weeks to two months. read more

The best ophthalmologist in San Diego County! My family and I have moved a lot - being from a military family we have moved all over the Country and all over San Diego County! We have always come back for our annual exam and eye glasses with Dr. Peter D Huang, he is the best!. Even after my eye surgery, I would never go to anyone but Dr. Huang, and have come back to see Dr. Huang every year! He is superior at his profession. If I could give this office no stars I would. I've been having a hard time finding glasses for my boys with my insurance. Finally we found this office that accepts my insurance. They were friendly while having my insurance on the line made my boys their appointments. Yesterday I got a call from Angelica confused of what she was talking about. I had asked her if she could elaborate what she's trying to say. She gets rude & huffs on the phone, says I don't have to be even doing this. Do what Angelica? Your job okay. Today I get a call from Lydia getting clarification if my son has appointment or not. Not to waste anybody's time. I explained to her what Angelica did. All I hear in the background is Lydia talking to someone else telling them to hang up. Hello Lydia I can hear you. They end up hanging up on me. I called back & they answer & hung up on me. Dr. Huang and his staff are wonderful! They have been so helpful, patient and kind every time we call or go in for a visit. Dr. Huang is a great doctor, very conscientious - he really takes his time with you, his exams are thorough and he'll explain whatever he finds until you completely understand. My husband and I only started wearing prescription glasses about a year and a half ago. Boy! what a challenge it was to get adjusted to our new lenses. Dr. Huang told us to come in after we wore our new glasses to make certain we were comfortable with our prescription and we were satisfied we had the corrected vision that we expected. We were made to feel at ease every step of the way. His staff also gave us great treatment - I just love Lydia, she's a sweetheart! I have found they have a really nice selection of frames for women and the selection seems to improve every time I go in. The men's selection has also improved since we first started going there and my husband has a, well dare I say - a big head! LOL!! so it was a challenge to find stylish well fitting glasses but they found him a very handsome frame and Mark was very pleased (me too - whew!!) I've been coming here for over 15 years but will no longer. Went to purchase some prescription sunglasses. The young lady ran my card and tried to hide the fact that the glasses were damaged. She went in the back and spoke with the other doctor and I guess they thought I'd fall for it. Now I'm waiting to see if they can even order the glasses. If not, I have to get a refund via check. My mom has been complaining about her glasses for about a year now, she said they made her dizzy and she couldn't wear them for extended periods of time for nighttime driving. NOT OKAY! I decided to give H Street Optometry a try because of the awesome reviews and also because they have been in business forever and thats something I can trust! I called for two appointments back to back for me and my mom for a Saturday...by the way, Saturday appointments??? Already a winner in my book! The office staff were very professional and courteous asking us if we had any specific concerns, any surgeries we had, etc. I appreciated that because they are taking the time to get to know their customers, especially since we were brand new clients. When we first arrived I made the wrong turn and didnt realize the parking lot was in the back so if you are dumb like me, let this review guide you to the back of the office, where there is ample parking lol We filled in two new client forms and waited only about 5 minutes to see Dr. Nguyen. She saw my mom first and I went with her to say hey my mom is in distress, help my mom! LOL exact words. She did the full exam on my mom then checked out my mom's glasses and said yeah I understand why you are having issues. She ended up creating and ordering an entire new set of glasses for my mom and we had fun picking out the frames. I must say the frames here are way better than some dingy ass optometrists where everything is all yucky and for OLD people. You know the type of frames I'm talking about!!! My mom's frames were fresh, I would've worn them if I needed glasses hahah Then it was my turn, so she took me back and did the full exam on me too, I have had LASIK so she was just checking to see if my vision has maintained its perfection! I also have a history of glaucoma in some of my grandparents so I have to be really stringent with my eye appointments. One thing I CANNOT stress enough when it comes to Dr. Nguyen is her attention to detail. She is up to date on the latest information and has the coolest equipment, (she doesnt do that weird ass air puff test... she does something way easier and more accurate imho) and also takes pictures of your eyeball, like INSIDE it, and then monitors it with each appointment you go to so she can identify if there are any changes. I have to stress this because once your eyes start to deteriorate there is really no fixing them, its just a steady decline. So if you can monitor things and catch them early you have a much better chance of preserving your eyesight in the long run. I am VERY VERY picky when it comes to anything to do with my eyes as you can see my extensive review of Dr. Tooma and his laser eye surgery, and I would never bring my mom somewhere that I don't completely trust. When she picked up her glasses at the office a week later she called me to let me know they were AWESOME and she no longer gets dizzy. YAYYYYY! For the fellas Dr. Nguyen is also really really pretty. Dr. Huang is a genius! I've been suffering with less than great vision from being fitted for contact lenses incorrectly by other eye doctors. Dr. Huang was actually the very first doctor to recommend changing the prescription to have my stronger eye for distance and my weaker eye for reading vs. 20 years of other eye doctors doing it the opposite! What a difference! Dr. Huang is very friendly and nice, his office staff is pleasant and helpful and I am so glad I found his practice! Loved H Street Optometry! Let me start with the fact that I did extensive research on the best optometrist office here in Chula Vista and the reviews did not lie! Very convenient location, great customer service and an over all comfortable, enjoyable visit. Dr. Huang was nice got right to the point without making the process feel rushed and made me feel comfortable. Angelica was very nice and sweet. But Lydia was my favorite. She has her foot injured right now but she doesn't let that stop her, total trooper hoping around. Lydia was very sweet, kind, seemed interested in her job and our conversation. I went here on a recommendation of a friend who is an optometrist up in SCCO in Fullerton, and it was great! Dr. Nguyen is personable and the staff is very friendly...it's kinda funny, one of the staff Lydia was rather apologetic about the price of the glasses I ordered, a pair of prescription glasses and a pair of sunglasses. Rosa also is very nice too. The total retail would have been close to $1000, but I ended up only paying $330 or so. (Props to VSP insurance also!) It's a rather small shop, but maybe that's what makes it so good because it has a comfortable family feel to it, rather than some of the larger optometrists I've been to. Despite that, I quickly found 2 pairs of glasses I liked and ended up buying! I also echo the other yelpers that this is an honest establishment for sure. I did not know that my old pair of glasses' lenses were still under warranty because of the anti-glare coating, but Lydia informed me about that, so I took my glasses back to SCCO and it's like I have a new pair all over again! read more
