The food was fine, a little overrated for how much the meal cost but pretty the decent. However, I found the service a little underwhelming especially given the fact we were one of maybe 4 tables on a weeknight and there was not that many patrons. I was served the wrong main course, the servers were confused on who ordered what (which again, for a 4 figure meal I feel like should not be the case), and service was extremely slow (we were in there for more than 4 hours for a 3 course meal). I would say Michelin worthy for the DC area! Tasting menu was a bit hefty with the $175 price point, but I feel like for me, it was worth it. So many different dishes to try, each with their own kick and plenty of flavour. My favourites were the mushroom soup starter and the spaghettis; both simple seeming items yet the savory tastes were exquisite. Our attentive server was extremely kind too, giving us complimentary chocolates and wine pairing with our tenderloin and finish for the meal. Where we were seated was nice, having a private corner to ourselves which was lovely. I will say for me, it was filling, but it wasn't filling for my friends, so it depends how much you can eat I'd say. Great brunch spot with delicious food and good portions. Started off with complimentary drink of roasted oat milk with sesame seeds. We each got an entree and shared the pumpkin french toast. We all enjoyed are dishes and left full and happy. The tiger prawns Diablo is not really spicy though if you were hoping for actual heat but it was still delicious. The sourdough that came with the mussels and tiger prawns was great as well and we asked for more to soak up the delicious sauces! They did not skimp on the mussels either. One of my favorite brunch spots in DC (a difficult feat, given how much this city loves brunch), and perfect for special occasions and celebrations! I came to Imperfecto for a birthday brunch and...wow. Despite the name, this meal was pretty darn close to perfection -- every item on their menu was delicious, the service was fantastic, and the vibes were immaculate. For drinks, we got a combination of their cocktails and mocktails, and every single one was great -- I especially loved their fancy fish, which was delightfully fruity and tangy, and did indeed come in a cute fish-shaped glass. We started with a few items to share, including the banana pancakes, burrata, and oysters. The oysters were super fresh and sufficiently briney, and the burrata was deliciously creamy and went perfectly with the crispy potato latkes, fresh and tangy tomatoes, and balsamic glaze. My favorite small plate, though, had to be the pancakes -- they were nice and fluffy, and, even with the whipped cream, halva foam, and fresh sliced bananas, not overwhelmingly sweet. I'm generally not a huge fan of sweet breakfasts, but I could've easily devoured a whole plate of the these. Next came the hardest decision of any good meal -- what main to order! I eventually settled on the wild mushroom omelette, which was a gorgeous French-style omelette with a hearty umami kick from the wild porcini and black trumpet mushrooms. The omelette itself was perfectly smooth on the outside and had a wonderful runny, melty center that went great with the tender mushrooms and crispy plantain brioche on the side. The next time I have the privilege of coming back, though, I think I'll order their avocado toast -- I stole a few bites from my friend's plate, and I've truly never been so impressed by an avocado toast before. The focaccia base is delightfully springy but hearty, and I swear they must have somehow scooped an entire avocado onto this slice of toast. The toast is then topped with a delightful slice of octopus, cooked to perfection to be tender but with a slight chew, as well as a lovely array of fresh grape tomatoes and tangy, slightly spicy dressing. You really can't go wrong with a single thing on their menu, but their avocado toast is a must try -- it's simple yet has a great depth of flavor, and the ingredients just marry together perfectly. We wrapped up the meal with their lemon blueberry soufra, chocolate brioche, and raspberry tart (aka nearly their entire dessert menu). The soufra was wonderful -- the phyllo dough was super flakey and slightly crispy on the outside, but warm, melty, and comforting in the center. The blueberries gave it a great pop of freshness and sweetness, and the vanilla ice cream was the perfect accompaniment to the warm pastry. I also loved the chocolate brioche, but it's definitely a dessert designed for sharing with several people -- the brioche itself is super dense (but delicious), and its accompanying chocolate sauce is very incredibly rich, almost like nutella. As we were heading out, they also gave us each a bar of their house-made raspberry white chocolate bar as a parting gift / birthday treat. The chocolate was also delicious -- rich without being overwhelmingly sweet, and a lovely hit of tartness from the raspberry to balance out the sugar. All in all, Imperfecto is hands down one of the best spots in DC for a special occasion brunch -- every dish is delicious, with a unique spin on a perfectly executed classic. This is a review for the summer restaurant week menu, I was worried that it would not be filling since it was only 3 courses but it was such a phenomenal meal!! We shared the different options for each course so really don't think you can go wrong with anything you choose. For the first course appetizers, the crudo was light and fresh. Delicious offerings. I'm a fan of Seven Reasons so i wanted to give the chef's other spots a spin - he's clearly talented. I had the tiger prawns "a la diablo" in a delicious sauce and I appreciated the bread that accompanied it to sop up that deliciousness. The prawns themselves cooked perfectly. My main was the Lubina- a crispy skinned branzino that came with chanterelles, sunchokes, and a fish consommé which was poured in at the table. I would get this again!! They were so kind and friendly! They even helped us roll all of our luggage to the uber on our way out! They went above and beyond. And, the food was incredible! Everything we had was 10/10. We are frequent Michelin star diners, we like to try as many as we can and this one was not one to miss! So original, so creative, but also classic, delicious, and filling! We had the falafel, the prawns, the crudo, mushroom risotto and the conchinillo (I probably spelled that wrong - but, it's the pork!). everything was amazing! So were the cocktails :) We also had dessert - the sunset peach and the eclair - phenomenal! They were so kind to bring us complimentary wine to try with dessert and a complimentary mashed potato side for me! They were so attentive and accommodating. The meal was not only imperfect-o but truly a disappointment. There are certain expectations that come with having a Michelin star, and this seemed FAR from expectations. The service was meh - attention to detail minimal and empty glasses and dishes left table side for far too long. When asking to speak to the somm, I was quickly dismissed with a recommendation from the waiter on what wine would pair best instead of having a discussion with an expert. Some of the dishes were shining stars (like the amuse-bouche mushroom soup with truffle oil or the falafel with Latin spiced tahini) while others fell flat (tiger prawns a la Diablo which were not spicy in the slightest). One dish was just down right wrong- the Latin kabkabou (also something I asked the waiter how to pronounce and he didn't even know). The dish comes out in a covered Staub dish with a hot plate...except for the fact the dish itself was borderline cold. The kabkabou had several clams that were actually all cold (again, note, this was supposed to be a hot dish), a single sweet Ecuadorian prawn, sweet plantain cubes, all next to a mostly RAW piece of Bronzino. Again, this was a hot dish where the main dish fish was part cooked and the other completely raw... Needless to say we left without getting dessert. All in all, this dinner was beyond disappointing for what you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant. Sadly we will not be back. read more

This review is specifically for the chefs table. Understandably some items may be nitpicking. But when you are charging $250 a person for the experience I feel like it should be much more buttoned up. We had read about the new Michelin star for the Imperfecto chefs table and decided to try it out. We arrived about 10 minutes early, walking in right behind the first group and before anyone had been seated (this comes up again later). We got led to a long wooden table beside the host/check in stand. Interesting set up because everyone is at the same table. A little strange to be seated at the same table as everyone else but not a big deal. Our seating was for 7:00PM. Around 7:05 a group of 3 came to be seated but was thrown off by the close seating and asked to be seated somewhere else (can't say I blame them). Around 7:15 the host came to the first couple and apologized for the delay and offered them free mocktails (didn't acknowledge us at all even though we walked in at the same time). Around 7:25 everyone was informed we are waiting for one more group. At 7:30 another group was seated at a completely separate table. And then that table was immediately server. While our table still waited. The first course was 5 small items served on a tray. The staff "presenting" the plates seemed very unrehearsed and mine was placed upside now. No big deal. All items are great. Though my wife's was served with a yellow sauce that was extremely spicy and mine tasted like pure mayonnaise. This was about how the rest of the night went. Good tasting food but wildly inconsistent. Appearance, portion size and more. A couple of times the main waiter would come out and present a portion of the upcoming dish. Like the uni for a dish. Or the clay baked rabbit for another. He then came out and said "the next dish comes with truffle, would you like it shaved?" So we said sure. (Then got charged $50 a person at the end of the night. Previous Michelin restaurants had offered the add ons as well as the price that comes with them prior to service. I'm sure this was intentionally deceitful, but definitely felt like we got tricked). Overall the food was great. But half the restaurant got the exact same plating so seemed weird to be a chefs table experience. They may just be working out the kinks but everyone at the table agreed that the whole night seemed like they forgot someone was coming and panicked. PS. Brought my husband here for his birthday dinner and had an amazing time! The place has a nice calming feel to it, with the cool color tones, the vibey music, and the comfortable seating. Our server was very attentive but never overbearing which is nice. We started with some drinks and they were delicious! My husband got the ahumada suerte and that banana and hazelnut cloud on top is just woah! They started us off with a mushroom soup that was hot and flavor. We shared the moussaka cigar, which was the perfect balance between eggplant and beef. I usually stay away from eggplant but it wasn't overpowering. The risotto was out of this world! Top it off with some squid ink, amazing. My husband devoured his lamb terrine it was so tender and buttery. I got the pork and it was juicy and chewy! I dined here for brunch with my friend visiting from out of town. We were immediately greeted with a friendly host and kind server. The ambience is really nice- the place gets a lot of natural light. The decor is so nice and pristine, but has color to it as well. The bar seems so elevated being in the front, and you can somewhat watch them make drinks there before bringing it over to the tables. Also omg the bathrooms are really pretty too ! They provided the cocktail/drink menu first, and then provided the food menu separately after. We ordered the pancakes - this seasonal fruit was banana, and it was really delicious. The pancakes were ever so fluffy, the bananas were cut so perfectly and tasted delish, and the foam and syrup tied everything together. My friend and I also shared the middle east benefit. Couldn't complain about this one too, it was near perfection too, with the great meld of flavors of middle eastern-style ground meat with poached eggs. I liked this unique dish. This review is for the a la carte menu and NOT the Michelin starred chefs table. We shared the "first" and "second" course items and got our own main entrees. TLDR; the ingredients and aesthetic of the dishes sound and look good but the taste is very monotonous. Go eat at a Michelin star restaurant for the same price but better tasting food. Ambience is nice but not worth the mediocre food. The pictured mains are the lamb terrine and beef Wellington. The lamb was pretty tender but all the flavor was in the sauce so you needed to drench the meat in it. The potatoes were very truffle-y. A lot of the dishes just tasted like truffle. Beef Wellington was cooked nicely but taste-wise my friends noted it did not taste like much. It cost $80 for meat about the size smaller than my palm. Do not get the risotto unless you like eating hard, soupy rice. All the other shareables (first and second course dishes) were nothing special. Portions are tiny(3-4 bites) so you need to order several first/second courses. Service was good overall but they said they'd take off a risotto because the rice was hard(they cooked us another one which was still hard) and they didn't take it off our bill. read more

We had a reservation for two and we're seated immediately when we arrived. We started off with cocktails and whatever you choose you won't be disappointed. All very whimsical. We ordered a La cart and started with beets and potatoes and tuna tartar. Both very good but I prefer the beets and potato dish. The beets cooked perfectly and tasted sweet. The green purée was smooth and lovely. The potato had a crispy outer shell and layered to perfection. Our next course we ordered shrimp and scallops with risotto. Both hands down very delicious. Shrimp (3qty) comes swimming in a decadent sauce which we lapped up with bread. The scallops were flaky and risotto done to perfection. This course had my highest marks. Next was the main course special of the day was the Spanish iberico suckling pig shoulder. It was so tender and skin crispy. It was a touch salty for our tastes but still very good. We went for brunch at Imperfecto, which will of course would not be the same as a dinner experience, but we still enjoyed out experience very much. The amuse-bouche comes before the meal and was so flavorful- we were both surprised by how good it was. I got the Milanese sandwich- it's a crispy pork tenderloin sandwich with cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce and labneh toum sauce (yogurty sauce) on ciabatta bread. The contrast of the crispiness of the pork against the softness of the bread made the first bite really surprising (in the best sense) for me. It's a huge sandwich so go on an empty stomach if you're getting it. The interior of the restaurant is really nice and I thought the design was very clean, crisp and bright. Service was where I wasn't really too impressed. I personally felt like they were coming by a lot more frequently towards the end of the meal, which made it seem like they were rushing for us to finish. It was odd because the place wasn't too packed and there were empty tables around us. Other than that, service was okay. Some friends and I ventured out to Imperfecto DC last night to celebrate. You will need a reservation for sure unless you are sitting at the bar. The waiter advised us, if one person at the table wants the chef tasting everyone at the table gets the chef tasting. So we opt in for the chef tasting for $175. If you want the wine selection with it, that's an addition $125. They do have an al carte menu where you order items from. I ordered the Moussaka Cigars. They were good and two came out for the table. They do have tasty drinks. I had The Affair (a couple to be exact) for dinner. Now let's get into for this chef's tasting menu. There were 6 courses starting with a mushroom soup shooter, tomato tart, then a cured salmon credo, followed with a potato dish, pasta, and braised meat dishes. Before serving dessert, there is a fruit sorbet brought to the table. The dessert was very pretty to look at, but it was so sweet. I thought I lost my teeth halfway through dessert. My overall experience was good, but I don't think I would suggest the chef tasting. I only enjoyed about 3 of the dishes that were brought out. Would I go back again to Imperfecto. Came here for brunch with high expectations, but unfortunately had a very average experience! The restaurant decor had a very clean and airy vibe to it. It felt very sophisticated to walk into. We got a lemon blueberry soufra for the table to share, which was nice. A friend and I shared the burger ($25) and middle eastern Benedict ($23) which were both in the "good to fine" range. Nothing unique, I was fed and I wasn't mad about what I was eating. Can't really say anything more than that. The service was quite slow throughout the whole meal. It took a very long time for our food orders to even be collected. The server was nice but nothing to really justify the 22% added gratuity on top of a 5% service fee. An added 27% charge for this average experience feels a little unnecessary. I would recommend going to Seven Reasons instead, which is by the same chef. I had an amazing experience there and would not have batted an eye at an added 27% gratuity because of how great the service is there. P.S. Putting this at the end because not everyone cares to judge a restaurant by their bathroom but I love to see the restrooms of fancy restaurants. I give this bathroom 2/5 stars. Very cramped, tiny sink that fills up halfway as your washing your hands, and a trash can that is situated so close to the toilet that my leg was touching it as I used it (yuck!). It was a much calmer environment with a slightly older crowd and not crowded in the least. It was a bit of an odd location, but Much to our pleasant surprise the food was impeccable, service, excellent and the ambience quite comfortable. Busy but not too noisy, excellent lighting, and nice seating. Though the chair could've used a back cushion. I really can't say enough about the food. We were gifted a small mushroom soup, our appetizers were, twin moussaka cigars, my friend really enjoyed her beautiful and delicious beet salad. The entrees were not large but enough. Each element of the composed dishes was special and enjoyed. Nice coffee eclair dessert with a lovely orange sauce. It truly was extraordinary and worth the hefty price. The willingness to use heat was very much appreciated (although I was saddened to hear people around me complaining about the mild heat from the guajillo or the fresno -- hopefully that preference does not win the day). Very thoughtful, generous, and deliberate pairings that actually made me feel like I got value from the wine pairing (which Minibar failed miserably at). We came here on a Saturday night for the Michelin Star Chef's Table experience. Roughly 10 courses served over 3 hours. Restaurant decor is very nice, with a large mural covering the bar area. Important to note: only the chef's table is considered Michelin Star, the conventional dining in the rest of the restaurant is not. The service was excellent with the attention to detail that you'd expect from a Michelin experience. The cocktail selection is fantastic and well-varied. Service is accommodating for dietary preferences. We had a party member who had casually mentioned earlier that she does not prefer bananas and they changed her dessert to help accommodate. Food was top notch. Wagyu steak was my favorite dish, possibly one of the best steaks I've had. I enjoyed the ramen dish the least. It wasn't bad by any means but felt relatively unseasoned and dry and overall underwhelming when compared to the rest of the strong, consistent menu. This is for the Michelin Chef's Table experience. I'm a foodie. Other people go to art galleries and so on, but the art form I love best is food. I'm blessed to have the money to spend on fine dining (though even for me, this place was w h e w expensive). I've been to Michelin restaurants around the world, and some with more stars than this. I've had time to think about it, I've had other places come very close to being as good as the meal I had that night. But... This was the best meal I have had...ever. We went for my birthday, nearly a year ago at the time I write this, and I'm still thinking about it. I got to sit near where the chef was preparing the food, Chef Gonzalez, and it was so incredible to watch, and so cool to be able to speak with him and learn about the dishes. Each one blew me away. Chef Gonzalez's creations especially. What else can I say? I don't have higher praise. The restaurant is pretty and the ambiance is upscale. It's a Michelin restaurant-- of course the service is impeccable. The setting is tasteful but centers the food as the artistic statement, as it should. read more

While the name of the restaurant may be "Imperfecto", the dinner was anything but. Hosting a company holiday party here went beyond exceptional. Every dish was crafted with precision, creativity and beauty. Everything tasted incredible, including the food alternative dishes crafted specifically for those who had food sensitivities was delicious! The staff was a pleasure to work with! A crew that truly inhibited professionalism, friendliness, accommodations, intuitive, and helpful in every way. The ambience was simply stunning and classy, perfect for a small company party or an intimate dinner. I went to Imperfecto twice this summer, once in June and once in July- we loved our June experience so much that we came back just a week or two later with family. We did the prior version of the tasting menu which incorporated options from what is now the main menu. Our menu included: - Aladdin burrata: This dish proved to me that not all burrata is created equal- you have never had it like this. The fried lentils were so delicious and added a really interesting textural component that was the perfect contrast to the creaminess of the burrata and hummus on the plate. (I ordered this both times.) - Salmon tartare: This was bursting with flavor- the roe and finger limes were a really nice pairing for the fish. - Sweet potato and labneh: This comes crusted with quinoa which, again, is such a nice textural contrast. This felt almost like comfort food and was so perfectly cooked and plated. (Also ordered this both times.) - Suckling pig: This was a bit small for the price, but extremely flavorful. - Imperfecto eclair: I saw quite a few other tables ordering this- it's pretty small but was delicious. The tasting menu also came with a paella (which I believe might be the mar y montaña on the current tasting menu) that was absolutely delicious and a real showstopper. We also received a parting gift of two small chocolates and two chocolate bars in Imperfecto packaging to take home. The flavor of the chocolate bars was different each time we went, which was a nice touch (first time was white chocolate and strawberry, second was dark chocolate and orange). Imperfecto is a gorgeous space- it has seemed a little busy/bustling both times, but our servers were very nice and attentive regardless. A perfect place to spend an elegant night out. read more

Imperfecto was an elegant experience in many ways, including the décor, the service and the beautiful plating of the food.  There are several options for dinner, including a chef's table (above our price range), a tasting menu and an a la carte menu.  We chose a la carte because we are all about ordering different things and then trying everything that is on everyone else's plate    To start with, we each chose a cocktail.  The ones we tried and enjoyed were a prismatic basil which was very refreshing, the mangia e bevi which was really different being that it combines sweet and savory.  The little tuille crisp on the side was a really nice touch and very tasty.  We also tried the ahumada suerte which was my favorite as I tend to like sweet and fruity and the sexy fish mocktail.  It was very nice to see mocktails included in the menu.  Our dinner started with a fantastic amuse bouche from the chef. It was a mushroom soup which was so, so good! For appetizers we shared the moussaka cigar which was crisp and light, the falafel with a super good tahini sauce and the tuna tartare which was also delicious.  We may have hoped for a couple of more lavash crisps to go with the tatare but it was super just eaten with a fork.  For second course, we enjoyed the truffle taglionlini, the fois gras and the spring onion risotto & calamari.  All were very tasty and beautifully presented.  I really enjoyed the risotto although there could have been a little more calamari.  The entrees were also all very good.  We enjoyed the  duck magret which came with a parsnip puree that was so amazingly intense in flavor.  I could have had a plate of just that and been very happy as well.  The lamb terrine and the latin kabkabou (branzino) were also made with care, very flavorful and just beautiful to look at.  The desserts, we felt, were the only things we tasted that didn't live up to the dishes served before them.  We ordered the epicurious cacao which was mostly the crumbled topping with very little else to dig into.  We kept looking underneath for something more substantial. The golden pear was good but very subtle. Our favorite was the imperfecto éclair which came with a wonderful sauce that we turned around and poured on the cacao as well and then, frankly, just continued to drink what was left   The restaurant is light and airy and the service is very professional and very gracious with a great sense of humor (not stuffy at all.)  We truly enjoyed our elegant meal. read more

Everything is perfecto at Imperfecto - the food, ambience and service! I found this place by googling brunch locations in D.C. I didn't know this was a Michelin restaurant. It showed! There avocado toast was like no other. They have amazing coffee because my brother had 3 cups! They gave us some amuse-bouche that had oat milk and tasted really good! Perfect place for a chill brunch experience. I'll be back when I'm in town. read more

Imperfecto was pretty good, but surprisingly what I loved most about our experience was the imperfecto club cocktail. It was so yummy, that I could have many of them without regretting it. I tend to air more on the side of "foodie" than into fancy drinks so I was hoping for a bit more of a wow factor for the ravioli and risotto but they were still good. The burrata was very good too, although I was unsure how to eat it since the "bread" were these tiny microscopic crackers. I forked that cheese into my mouth and had no regrets. The pickled pineapple that came with it was delicious. We were surprised with a mushroom soup tasting which was amazing - I wish I could have had more of that than what we ordered. It was the best mushroom soup I've had and will come back just to order a pitcher of it if I could. We also got a chocolate truffle at the end of the meal and I wanted to cry - it was very decadent. I'm giving three stars because some items were awesome and others were average, but overall you will have a good experience if you come here because the service is wonderful.
