I had my first Curly Specialty Haircut with Nikki, and the entire experience exceeded my…read moreexpectations. From the moment we started our consultation, Nikki understood exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to retain as much length as possible while cleaning up my split ends, adding more lift to my curls, and incorporating some soft face framing. She immediately had a vision and went to work. It was genuinely beautiful to watch her artfully shape my curls--carefully snipping here, refining there--and throughout the appointment our conversation flowed naturally. We discovered several shared interests, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Nikki's apprentice (I wish I could remember her name!) did the shampoo and conditioning service, and it was incredible. The shampoo is always my favorite part of any salon visit, but this one was next level. The scalp massage was relaxing, the pressure was perfect, and I walked away feeling like stress I didn't even realize I was carrying had melted away. During styling, Nikki introduced me to a curl-defining brush and took the time to show me how to use it correctly. I already owned one but had been using it wrong. She explained everything clearly and made sure I understood the technique. The true test of a great curly haircut is what happens after you leave the salon. The next day, I was able to style my hair exactly the way Nikki had shown me, and my curls looked fantastic. To me, that's the sign of an exceptional stylist--not only a beautiful haircut, but one that's easy to recreate at home. If you have curly hair and are looking for someone who truly understands curls, listens to what you want, and delivers beautiful, wearable results, I highly recommend Nikki at The Loft Salon

I developed some new curls and waves after a lifetime of straight hair. I was at a loss on how to handle it. I slight recommendations for a someone who had experience with this type of hair. Her name was consistently brought up. Okay, fine. I knew she was funny so at least I could get to know her a bit. She put me at ease as I was afraid to do a curly cut (not all stylists are good at them, or understand them). She disarmed me and listened, and seemed to understand every point and fear I presented. Needless to say, I was thrilled to not have life turned upside down from a silly haircut, which it could have been! () She was fantastic both in her experience/talent as a stylist and also as someone to work with and has enough experience that you can't really throw her from her focus. I am looking forward to another visit and to enjoy not just a haircut but also some laughs because of her fantastic personality (charming, funny)! For the record, I've consistently heard solid recommendations for the salon. I've not heard a weak comment in my 20 years of living in this community. And now I get to book hair mastery services with Nikki, too!

After seeing great reviews about Von at Highlands Hair I made an appointment with her for blonde…read morehighlights and a hair cut. I have been doing my own highlights for a while now but have trouble doing the back of my hair, which was darker than the front. When I came in Von suggested that I add low-lights to the front of my hair to help even out the front with the back. I agreed this was a good idea, as I had a lot of blonde in the front. She also suggested a root smudge to help hide some fine hairs near my face that had some Grey. I've never done this before but decided to go with her recommendation. I was happy with how it looked after adding highlight to the back and some low-lights to the front. She had another employee do the root smudge which turned out horrible, as it was a different tone (more auburn) than my highlights. I told her that I thought the color was off, and way too dark as it also covered the highlights that had just been done. She said to give it some time to get used to the new look because I am used to seeing so much blonde. I made an appointment a week later and asked her if she could tone the root smudge to better match the tone of the rest of my hair, she agreed that the color was off and applied toner. Unfortunately the toner further darkened my remaining highlights. She apologized for the outcome and asked me to come back the following week at 11:00am to have another employee (who is better at highlights) add some highlights around my face while waiting for the dark toned hair to wash out. When I came in today at 11:00am (Saturday July 18th, 2026) there were many people waiting for hair appointments. Von greeted me and asked, can you come back later today, we are too busy right now? I said that I was confused because I have an appointment. Von told me that I didn't have an appointment, she had only suggested that I come on Saturday at 11:00am. She had the other person take a look at my hair. They discussed my issue but not in English. She then told me they were too busy today and asked "can you come back in about a week? It's going to take 2.5 hours for her to fix your hair." I walked out without replying. I am so disappointed that Von treated me this way. I really liked her which is why I was willing to give her a chance to correct what had gone wrong. All I wanted was a haircut and full highlights. Now I will have to pay someone else for an expensive color correction. Buyer be ware.
