Grabbed coffee here while visiting TJ. It's a cool little coffee shop with a couple tables outside for outdoor seating. The baristas were nice and welcoming and they spoke English. They were accommodating to make my drink less sweet :). They have regular milk, lactose free, and oat milk. You can see their coffee bean machine to the left of the shop which is so cool! You can buy their coffee beans in the shop as well which are sourced from Mexico. We ordered an iced horchata latte and a vanilla latte. Their horchata latte is the real deal! It actually tastes like authentic horchata (like my mom makes!!). My vanilla latte was perfectly foamy and not too syrupy. Will be returning :). read more

Cute hipster-ish cafe on the main street of Playas--stop in for fantastic espresso and a bite to eat! FOOD: Cappuccino was the best I had on our trip to Tijuana! Came out quickly with beautiful foam art and had all the lovely richness of coffee without any bitter aftertaste. These baristas know what they're doing! Acai bowls were the main draw for us--the bowl was beautifully presented (neat bands of fruit and granola), as you can see in the photos on Yelp. That said, the acai base tasted and looked more like blueberries blended with yogurt. Delicious and healthy, but it will remain in my memory as my "Luwak bowl" rather than "acai bowl." SERVICE: The baristas were super friendly, and even encouraged us to check in on Yelp for 20% off! Only reason I am not giving five stars is for speed of food service. Drinks came out rapidly, but it took ~25 minutes for two acai bowls to come out. Considering there were 3 people in the cafe, this felt a little off. AMBIANCE: Comfortable interior with a few tables inside plus a window bar. Cool coffee roaster you can see next to the order counter! I thoroughly enjoyed sipping my cappuccino while reading a book on a cloudy day. Especially with the WiFi, I can imagine it's a popular place to camp out and work. read more

Not sure why I haven't written about this place before...perhaps I tend to post most of the reviews I write for places in Tijuana on the Happy Cow app...which you should check out if you're vegan, like I am... ...anyway, I've been going to Luwak on a semi-regular basis for about a year or so now. I've tried a few other places in Playas, and there are others I like, but the coffee is definitely the best among them. I usually order lattes, and greatly appreciate that they have oat milk as an option. (I think they also have soy, coconut, and almond...) The Nitro coffee is also tasty. They have several food options on the menu if you're vegan...a sandwich with veggies and hummus, an açaí bowl (which I think they list as not vegan because of honey...), a breakfast waffle with fruit and chocolate, and they now have pastry items that I understand are being made by the owner's wife, who I was told is vegan. The staff are all friendly, and if you aren't fluent in Spanish, there's usually at least one who speaks English well. read more

It's a good thing they're pretty but they're also delicious. Never mind the clean aesthetic and the good looking baristas; the food and drinks are also delicious. The Belgian Chocolate is always a crowd pleaser. The Mexican Mocha is a close second and you absolutely can't go wrong with the classic latte. It's definitely worth the drive! I only wish that it was closer to me to make it my regular coffee shop. read more

Fantastic little coffee shop with plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside. Really very good quality beans and a nice selection of snacks. Expensive by Tijuana standards but we'll worth it if you appreciate really good coffee. They have chemex, aeropress, v60, espresso, you name it. read more

Luwak Cafe is pretty good I got the waffle with fruit and ice cream and a vanilla latte and my sister got a crape and a frappe, the presentation was amazing!(for the insta)...the baristas know English so it was easy to order. They also have organic and vegan options and free WiFi I also got Chiapas organic coffee so I could brew at home and it's amazingly good!! Would 100% recommend!!!! read more

This is just a coffee place now, not really a food place. The only food they do now is a turkey salad toasted sandwich (or the vegan option of this is just the salad - lettuce, tomato and onion - with mustard). No crepes, no waffles, etc. The coffee was nice. read more
