First meal I had when getting into Florence and probably my favorite even though we also went to other restaurants in Florence that are highly revered. The appetizer of scallops on top of braised leeks and the best hollandaise I've ever had was one of the best appetizers I've had in a very long time. I ordered the filet and my wife ordered the cannelloni pasta which was also very good. The tiramisu was also really good I just wish it had more ladyfingers in the bottom of the cup. The servers were great, very nice and accommodating. Only complaint is the AC was out in the restaurant so it was hot as hell in there but hopefully they fixed their AC

This place deserves beyond 5 stars. Tip: make a reservation. Everything served is perfect. Not only the main dishes (cauliflower soup, ravioli, duck, steak, etc.), but also the free house-made fresh bread (so so good!), the free appetizer, and the desserts! This place is all about local traditional ingredients and recipes with a slight modern twist and presentation. When you see a limited menu (I think only four items are under each category), you know it is a place that takes their items served seriously. I was told that they are starting a garden so will be serving salad from there in a few weeks, while the salad I had was already the best I had in my life - perfectly fresh and cut to maximize your enjoyment. I didn't drink but it seems that other guests enjoyed the wine pairing recommendations greatly. Service is excellent. One of the co-owners runs the front of the house and speaks perfect English and will accommodate whatever you request may be to the best they can. In my case, they got a small piece of steak so I could enjoy a Fiorentina steak by myself. Given the way the food is prepared - such as pasta is made to order, there could be a wait in between dishes. Please be patient. Good food doesn't come fast. Ambiance is nice as well. It is a small and intimate place with a lot of nice little details for decoration. Most guests are considerate enough to not talk too loudly so it is perfect for date nights as well. I stayed in Florence three nights and ate there two nights as they are closed for Sunday night. And I will be back!

We LOVED our meal at Il Vezzo. A local recommended it to us as one of the only restaurants on the tourist side of the river that he recommended. Everything was innovative and delicious. The service was fantastic and the manager himself was very involved with face to face contact with customers. It wasn't so fancy that you needed a jacket and tie. Definitely recommend. Maybe our best meal in Italy period.

I made a reservation 2 days in advance, and was able to reserve my preferred dinner time. The people are welcoming, the ambiance is a casual, rustic, Italian vibe. It's intimate. My companion and I felt cozy and relaxed. The amuse-bouche of cauliflower soup with lobster sauce was delicate and delicious. We then shared a side salad, and ravioli. The side salad was great, with fresh with perfect tomatoes. The ravioli was not only plated like a work of art, but presented itself before it arrived at our table as we could smell the aroma of sage and butter. The ravioli flavor was fantastic and one I'll remember for a long time. We then had to try the Florentine steak. It was also good but had a lot of gristle which I don't like - I would up throwing away as more or more that I ate even because it was so gristly. The steak alone costed more than all of our other plates and our wine. So needless to say i had hoped for a better quality. That is the reason I deducted one star. Other than that nice place.

If I had a phrase for Il Vezzo it would be this: attention to detail. From the moment I step into the door, I noticed the rustic l, beautiful atmosphere with wooden shelves, wine bottles and even a bicycle on the wall. The leather table mat goes well with the heavy culinary set. The bathroom hand towels add to the sense of pride that comes from the restaurant. We start off with a pumpkin puree with beef stock; flavorful, artistic. The various breads complimented the Tuscan mears that were chosen well. The pink shrimp pasta is beautifully arranged and delicious. The tropea makes me appreciate even the thin slices of onion amongst the muffa sauce and avocado. The gel foam dessert was creative and perfectly whipped without being overwhelmingly sweet. The service is friendly, sincere and humble. If this restaurant has not earned a Michelin star yet, it seriously should be considered.

This was the first meal that I had in Italy, and it was out of this world. It is a very quiet place, which was nice for our jet lag, and the service was not too bad. The servers were also very kind and made the place very hospitable.

Aside from the waiter looking like my college math professor (reminding me of my math horrors but he was a good teacher!), it was a seamless and beautiful experience at Il Vezzo. We got the parpadelle, Florentine steak (1.25kg), and Vezzo salad. The Florentine steak (T-bone) was cooked to absolute perfection. Be prepared to eat (the size they recommended is 1.25 - 1.5kg for two at I think $6.50/100g or something that started with $6.xx). They even gave you heated plates with oil for while you ate the steak part. Full house on a Monday night but we were one of the first ones to arrive. Must come to in Florence. Very cute intimate dining experience.

MUST VISIT FOR A FOODIE WOW. This was the best meal we had in Florence. Great wine (Chianti) paired with exceptional food unlike anything I have ever tasted at a fantastic price point. A MUST VISIT in Florence!! Before our meal arrived, we were given a dish complementary by the chef, and it was SO good! The presentation was amazing, and the pumpkin dish tasted so unique, paired with so many flavors in one dish. As appetizers / antipasti, we had the "Tagliere delle Selve di Vallolmo il Bianco e il Grigio del Casentino" or "Selection of Tuscan cured meats from the Selve di Vallolmo farm" and the "Vellutata di verdure di stagione con crostini di pane, mandorle tostate e semi di papavero" or "Velvet cream of in-season vegetables with bread croutons, toasted almond and poppy seeds" (zucchini was the seasonal vegetable). Both were fantastic - the meats melted in your mouth, and the zucchini cream with the crispy croutons and poppy seeds tasted so great together. For mains, we had the "Spaghetti di verdure miste con crema di zucchine e olive taggiasche" or "Vegetables zucchini and carrots spaghetti, with zucchini cream and taggiasche olives", and the "Cipolla di Tropea al mirin, pomodorini confit, burrata affumicata, cecina, patata dolce, maionese di avocado e cialda croccante al rosmarino" or "Tropea onion with mirin, confit tomatoes, smoked burrata cheese, cecina, sweet potaties cream, avocado mayonnaise and rosemary crispy wafer." We were absolutely stuffed by the end, and want to come back. Best meal we've had in Florence!! You must come try for yourself!

Best restaurant I went to in Florence. In fact, it was so good, we canceled a reservation to revisit Il Vezzo another night. The starters were great, with the pate being the star of the show, absolutely delicious. The ravioli and the bolognese pastas were incredible. What made them so delicious is the perfectly executed simple flavors utilized in the dishes. They did not try to do too much with, which many times is the hardest thing to execute well. We also had the Florentine steak, which was very nice, although different than what is usually expected from the dish. The steak was obviously a premium quality cut, but contained very little dry aged flavor. In fact, I would say it is better compared to an American steak instead of a Florentine steak. Even though it wasn't the best we had in the city, it was definitely worth having. Honestly, the desserts did not share the same quality as the other courses; I would not order any again. The restaurant itself was beautiful with a great quiet atmosphere in the evening. The service the first time we visited was exceptional, we felt at home and completely taken care of the entire time. Unfortunately, the second time, our waiter was dismissive, and didn't want anything to do with us. Overall, a must try in Florence.

This is a wonderful find in Florence, small, quaint and brilliant! Owner is the only waiter- host, etc and handles the whole room w personal touches, ease and grace. Spot on service The food was sophisticated- scrumptious and served w a design flare We shared the Octopus on mustard mashed potatoes- thanks to a yelper recco- it was amazing. Then bolognese w a flat noodle- delicious! - but know it was a shredded beef instead of ground - I think I prefer the ground texture And lastly , we had tuna cheek w cauliflower creme!! My my! Yumm- and the cauliflower was o natural- no cremes or butter- yet so rich!!! The tuna cheek mixture was not my favorite But will def be back!

Fantastic food. They suggested a lot of things that I wouldn't normally order and they were all wonderful. Very knowledgeable staff and excellent chef. The prices were very reasonable as well.

By far best food we had in Florence. So simple, fresh, great price and great ambiance. I had a glass of their house red wine which was so light and refreshing. The dishes change often. My mom doesn't eat much meat and she had a beautiful dish of polenta, onion, and little butternut squash steaks. The butternut was beautifully cooked with herbs. I had a pasta with rabbit which was beautifully topped with truffles. It was very light and perfectly portioned. Finally, we ended with my mums favorite, panna cotta. It was topped with lemon and berry jam. Quite heavenly and our favorite panna cotta of the trip!

This was the best meal we've had in both Florence, and Italy so far. The service was above and beyond - the server apologized for us having to wait (only 8 min for a table) and brought us each a glass of Prosecco (on the house) while we waited outside. The ambiance is beautiful; romantic, intimate, perfect. And the food.. there is a reason this restaurant has 5 stars. We ordered the Paprdelle Bolognese and the Bistecca alla Florentina, both of which were next level flavors from minimal ingredients. The food was cooked exceptionally well - pasta, sauce, meat.. everything. Additionally, we ordered desserts from a menu of creatively paired fruit, vegetable, and chocolate combinations. This place is a MUST visit, and we will definitely make a point to come back when we find ourselves in Florence again.

Everyone lines up outside, and once the doors open, the entire restaurant is seated at the same time. It's unusual, but somehow fun -- like the curtain lifting on dinner. We were greeted with a welcome drink, which set the tone perfectly before the main event: the famous cheese-wheel pasta. They prepared it right in front of me, swirling the hot pasta through a giant wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano until it turned silky and glossy. Then came the fresh truffle -- and I mean fresh. Easily the most fragrant, delicate truffle I've ever had in my life. Absolute heaven. For dessert, their tiramisu wasn't the classic layered version; it was more of a deconstructed, airy éclair-style creation that still delivered all the right flavors. We finished with limoncello, a bright little goodbye that wrapped the whole experience in a perfect bow. Yes, Osteria Pastella is a bit of a tourist vibe -- but the food does not miss. The quality, the flavors, and the whole tableside ritual made this one of our most memorable meals in Florence. I'd recommend it without hesitation.

The complimentary cheese bread ball and regular bread was super tasty. For mains, we got the truffle pasta (with the famous cheese wheel) which was fun to watch. The pasta itself was very solid, but not best ever. Also got the beef/boar pasta and it was better than the truffle pasta in my opinion and cheaper. The deconstructed tiramisu was yummy. Overall a good dinner with good service and pretty good food! An easy spot to recommend to others!

There is a small inside dining room, but they have three, large, glass encased, outside dining rooms - one where we ate a fabulous meal. Our server was Aldo, and he was a young, handsome and charming Italian, and attentive. He also spoke perfect English, which helped with my Italenglish! We took our time and had a slow, one dish at a time, Italian-Tuscan meal. We had bruschetta, the tagliatelle with porcini mushroom, a salad with cannellini beans, olives, tomatoes and carrots, and an amazing steak - Florentine T-bone chianina, and a regional dessert of biscotti with liqueur - Cantucci con vin Santos! Wow! I mean wow! Each course topped the one before it. The pasta and steak stole the show, but it was all good. The pasta was fresh made and the porcini sauce light and flavorful. The steak came on a sizzling platter, just seared and sliced, and we could turn the pieces over to cook to our preference. So good. It was the best meal to date in Florence.

Everyone would stop by this bar-like setup for the restaurant and just stare... At this time we had no idea they had an upstairs seating. We looked over the menu and couldn't believe how enticing it was to get the Florentine Steak. Florentine Steak was way too big for us to order. It was obviously tempting because other people were eating it and it looked so juicy and good. The Florentine steak unfortunately only comes one size and that is 1kg. That's 2.20 lbs or 35 ounces for $55 Euros is a deal. Yup that is freaking huge right? So instead we opt for the 500 grams of meat called the Costata. The Florentine steak includes 3 parts, ribeye, filet, and something else. Costata if I remember correctly is the ribeye and filet part. Anyhoo, the food came out looking amazing. I had no idea that they actually cut the meat up for you. Interesting. It's cut but still has the steak shape. The meat was perfection. I have not had this good of a steak in awhile. I can't believe how perfectly cooked it was. I also can't believe how they were able to char that fat and make it delicious tasting and crispy versus it being soft, mushy, like fat. hahaha. The service was great, the lady behind the bar was very patient and I'm glad she let us know that Costata is more than enough for the both of us. That was 500 grams equaling to 17 ounces of goodness. I couldn't finish my portion and the hubby was happy to finish it for me. We couldn't help but to stare at the cooking process. The put it in a oven like thing, then take it out when both sides are charred, then cut it up in pieces and then put it back in. Like wow! I understand how it cooks so perfectly. It was just that good. $45 Euros. Yes I know $10 more Euros and we could have double the meat. Good idea for you meat eaters who can eat all that in one sitting. After we finish eating we noticed there were stairs next to it and realized there were more seating. So if you don't feel like sitting on bar seats, go upstairs for your sit down tables. Love the convenience of it being at the Central Market. Must must try! When in Florence.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €.
