There could be more on their menu, sure, but I didn't notice, this is what I came across: excellent coffee from this well crafted Italian style coffee maker, tasty types of sandwiches I have never seen before (Tramezzini particularly and Panini), mimosa. Yes, if a place has mimosa, that does it for me, I am going in. The modern like and hinting on sophisticated decor with very tasty food earns them 5 stars in this category. So I order a -Sgombre E Tartufo- tramezzini, what? you heard me. I'm not in the Kansas no more, matter a fact I don't think I am in The Netherlands, I stepped into a remote part of Italy with those names. It looks like tuna fish sandwich but it's Makreel, Truffle, Lime, Radicchio and a boiled egg. This isn't no regular tuna fish sandwich at my local deli, it's a better refined sandwich. It is very good, besides it's basic sandwich looking appearance. And for only 2.95euros, if I were local, I'd be here at least once a week for what seems to be a basic sandwich shop. One cup of coffee and mimosa each please. I also order what looks to be a Egg Custard (Dan Tat), but NO! This isn't one of those liquid fulled egg custards you find in Chinese bakeries, it's a Pastel De Nata. It's a different textured version. Actually I came across these before. The custard part isn't as liquid, it's more like the cream inside a Boston Cream, thicker, but with the same custard taste. The crust is crisp. I gotta try the other sandwiches if ever back. Or they also have full Appletaart, Boerencake, Citroencake, Chocolade Perencake cakes.

Simple, delicious sandwiches. They warm up the panini so that's nice. Big enough to bring a stroller inside and have it by your seat.

Beef on left chicken and paprika on right mmmmmmm

Stoner stumbled upon this place and man o man was I glad I did! The sandwiches here are soooooo good! The sando meats are legit and flavorful! The bread to the sandos are fluffy and scrumptious! At this establishment they sell sandos by the half. Price wise you can't beat it for the quality! I ordered 2 sandos one was the beef sando which was my favorite of the 2! The beef was awesome and the handful of parmesan was a great touch. My second sando was the chicken and paprika mmmmmm. Win win situation with anything you buy to grub on here.

What a great market!…read more I usually go to the Albert Cuyp for normal shopping, as it is closer to my house, and bigger. But last Saturday, when I ended up there rather by coincidence, I remembered why I passed by there almost every week back when I used to live in Oud Zuid. Thus, I have decided to do my best to visit next week again. The market is small, but very 'gezellig'. It's quite cute actually. It has a lot of different things - flowers, burgers, wine, meats, vegetables, cheese. I also got a homemade spicy sun-dried tomato mayonnaise. It was a bit pricey at 6,95 euros, but it is amazing! Perfect also for summer dishes, I paired it with cod cheeks on little gem salad and onion-parsley-tomato salsa. Delicious! But indeed, the price is a little shocking, especially if 3 stalls further you can buy a bottle of rose for the same price (even a bit less, actually). Also, my friend and I got a burger and enjoyed it in the sun; I recommend :) There is not a lot of place to sit, but if you can snag a spot at the shared tables, it is really great. Anyways - loving it - and I will be back for sure.

The food is excellent, they have English menus for us tourists, they're affordable, and they have a nice beer list and plenty of tables -- making them maybe unique among Surinamese places. It is helpful to make a reservation, but if you didn't ... they have a lot of tables, and many turn over fast, so get in line and wait, you'll get a table eventually. They have a really good selection of vegetarian dishes, so much that you won't feel restricted at all. Spice levels are moderate, so if you're a pepper-head, order some sambal on the side. Do order some of the side dishes; I'm especially fond of the bara and the teloh with salt cod and peanut sauce. Warning, though: Surinamese food uses nuts heavily, so do not go here if you have a nut allergy.

The staff were friendly and courteous, and I would gladly come back next time I'm in Amsterdam. Walked in on a Saturday evening around 7pm as a solo diner and the restaurant was packed. I didn't make reservations so was hoping they could squeeze me in and it was a yes, just had to wait for about 8-10 minutes until the bar area seating cleared up a bit. Score! Seated the menu was presented right away, after about 10 minutes staff asked for my order, I got: - Spang Makandra Special €17.50: this is a plate of several of the house specialities. Fried rice & noodles, braised chicken, grilled chicken satay, stir-fried long beans, egg, potato sambal and perkedel (fried potatoes). So tasty all around! Loooved the braised chicken was done very well, the peanut sauce used for the chicken satay was a bit on the sweeter side. The egg was scrambled (believe this was intentional for this preparation), the flavors were delicious! I can't comment to the authenticity since I'm no expert in Surinamese food though would certainly recommend this dish to all. - Dawet €3.00: if you're familiar with SE Asian shaved ice with palm sugar syrup, the flavor of this drink is reminiscent. While the color is a bright pepto bismol pink, it's mostly coconut milk with a strong flavor of gula malaka. Was on the sweeter side though glad for the coconut milk to balance out the spiciness of the hot sauce. - Beef rendang sandwich €6.50: sooo yummy. Considering the Indonesian and Chinese influences in Surinamese food, I've eaten my share of specifically Malaysian and Indonesian food in those countries and the curry flavors in the sandwich were prominent and super tasty. The spices were quite strong that even wrapped in foil and inside a plastic bag, my entire bag smelled like rendang (in a most moth-watering way lol) after carrying for some hours. The decor was cozy and filled the left side wall with pics of patrons of the past, opposite wall full length mirrors to make the space look larger. Seating enough for about 50-60 probably. Even though they were slammed, staff checked in periodically on how I was doing, refilled water, which indirectly led to an interesting conversation with another solo diner sitting at the bar. Strong recommend!

Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues!
