Service: The staff are super friendly and helpful. The salads are made to order and ready within minutes. Food: I've eaten many salads and soups and every single one was sooo tasty and healthy. The ingredients are fresh and the salads feature unique combinations. The portion sizes are ideal. Ambiance: They did an amazing job designing the inside. It's welcoming, warm and cozy with nice touches and comfortable seating. Price: The prices are affordable and worth every penny. Stop what you're doing and grab a healthy meal at Venkel!

It is a salad with of course lentils, but also goats cheese and nuts and it tastes delicious! I thought all the salads on the menu looked really good so I really want to come back soon. You can also create your own salad and choose all the ingredients. I also a had juice; apple/pear/mint. Delicious! Well it should be because its pretty damn expensive. 5 euros, and not even a big glass.. But well, it was good. There is also free water which is nice. The interior was beautiful and cozy. It really felt good and I felt very relaxed. I really like Venkel! I thought SLA was the best but now I like Venkel even more. The salads just taste amazing. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Just try it soon!

It's not your typical "dinner out" spot--it's a humble counter inside a subway station--but the food is arguably some of the best Surinese soul food in Amsterdam. Why it's worth the stop: * The Sandwiches: The Broodje Pom is the star here. It's flavorful, authentic, and served on a fresh roll. * Efficiency: They move through the line fast. It's the ultimate grab-and-go meal that actually feels homemade. * Authenticity: It's local, unpretentious, and consistently high quality. Things to know: It is located inside the station, so there's no "ambience" to speak of and seating is very limited. It's definitely more of a "stand and eat" or "take it to the park" kind of place. Overall: It might not be a fancy sit-down experience, but for the price and the flavor, it's easily one of the best quick bites in the city.

It was recommended we try out Surinamese cuisine while in Amsterdam so we found De Hapjeshoek. It's…read morelocated inside the Waterlooplein station / not visible at street level. We came during the dinner rush and it was packed inside. Since it was my first time, I wasn't sure what to order so I asked for recommendations. We tried the noodles with beef, and rice with chicken. It's relatively affordable given the large portions. Tasty and reminded me of a mix of Chinese and Indian food. I found an eyelash in my noodles though :(

The other place is near the Ann Frank House (across the canal). We went here almost daily for their Ginger shots. It will help you with a hangover! It really helps make you feel better. Word of advice if you have Invisalign clear aligner braces, don't drink these shots (especially the turmeric shots) if you have clear aligners on! I forgot I had them on and it stained them yellow...permanently. It was terrible. But the drinks are delicious. Made right on site. If you have any questions they staff is very helpful.

There's a wall of fruit towards the back where the staff pull fresh for the juicing! Yes, the place is small. You can take it to go on your walk into the city! Dragonbowl açaí - fruity, crunchy, sweet, healthy, natural. I cannot believe this is breakfast -- it tastes like dessert. The clerk was kind and patiently looked up the calories for every bowl they had before i made my decision. 530 for this one, in case you were wondering. Reset juice - low calorie, tart AND sweet. Super healthy and no added agave. My body felt better drinking it and I was prepared with healthy energy for the long day of walking. (110 calories) Energy balls - the coconut ball was good. Nothing to write home about, but I think it's because the whole thing is made of something like 3-4 ingredients. It's healthy, so it wasn't to-die for delicious, but it did the job in giving me nutrition and energy. It was delicious, ok, but not like a dessert ;) (190 cals) Matcha ball - haven't had this one yet. Excited for it. (210 cals) "Lasagna" - OMG AMAZING. I wasn't expecting much, but it was incredibly delicious. Only made of less than 6 ingredients: zucchini, carrots, tomato sauce, cashew cheese... they heated it up and it was so "cheesy" and delicious (160 calories!! I couldn't believe it!)
