Surinam yellow split pea soup with chicken, spicy spinach soup with coconut & coriander (small cups)

Do you think your grandma is the only person in the world who knows how to prepare a decent soup? Then you probably haven't heard about Soup en zo. Every day you're spoilt for choice with a range of freshly cooked rich and chunky soups. They're not only tasty but there are always meat and vegetarian options and some of them are even vegan thanks to the preparation with coconut milk. Next to that you can choose the portion size depending on your appetite. A small cup starts from as little as €3.50 and you can get up to XL. To make a proper soup complete you get a corn or brown bread roll with each cup. PS, don't tell your grandma about the competition.

Every once in a while there is something neat about a place and the experience of that place. The food was tasty. The service was friendly enough. The place is simple. From the weather being right for it, to the folks sitting next to me being friendly. It really made me think a certain "jai ne se quoi."

The daal, redolent of coconut milk and lemongrass, is a revelation, and the asparagus and split pea soups are also to die for.

Service: The staff are super friendly and helpful. The salads are made to order and ready within minutes. Food: I've eaten many salads and soups and every single one was sooo tasty and healthy. The ingredients are fresh and the salads feature unique combinations. The portion sizes are ideal. Ambiance: They did an amazing job designing the inside. It's welcoming, warm and cozy with nice touches and comfortable seating. Price: The prices are affordable and worth every penny. Stop what you're doing and grab a healthy meal at Venkel!

It is a salad with of course lentils, but also goats cheese and nuts and it tastes delicious! I thought all the salads on the menu looked really good so I really want to come back soon. You can also create your own salad and choose all the ingredients. I also a had juice; apple/pear/mint. Delicious! Well it should be because its pretty damn expensive. 5 euros, and not even a big glass.. But well, it was good. There is also free water which is nice. The interior was beautiful and cozy. It really felt good and I felt very relaxed. I really like Venkel! I thought SLA was the best but now I like Venkel even more. The salads just taste amazing. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Just try it soon!

It's not your typical "dinner out" spot--it's a humble counter inside a subway station--but the food is arguably some of the best Surinese soul food in Amsterdam. Why it's worth the stop: * The Sandwiches: The Broodje Pom is the star here. It's flavorful, authentic, and served on a fresh roll. * Efficiency: They move through the line fast. It's the ultimate grab-and-go meal that actually feels homemade. * Authenticity: It's local, unpretentious, and consistently high quality. Things to know: It is located inside the station, so there's no "ambience" to speak of and seating is very limited. It's definitely more of a "stand and eat" or "take it to the park" kind of place. Overall: It might not be a fancy sit-down experience, but for the price and the flavor, it's easily one of the best quick bites in the city.

We came during the dinner rush and it was packed inside. Since it was my first time, I wasn't sure what to order so I asked for recommendations. We tried the noodles with beef, and rice with chicken. It's relatively affordable given the large portions. Tasty and reminded me of a mix of Chinese and Indian food. I found an eyelash in my noodles though :(
