Went here for my birthday with my folks and husband. We got there a bit before our reservation but was seated quickly. There was also a big party going on and we still got exceptional service and checked in on to make sure our food and everything was good. My husband and I both had the special, lobster bisque, which was delicious with some pieces of lobster in it as well. For dinner, I had the sea bass. Which they accommodated and did not put the pesto on it as I am not a fan of it. This was delicious especially with added chunks of lobster with it. My mom had the crispy duck. All the food was delicious. Drinks were great too! Dessert was scrumptious. I absolutely loved the Italian cheesecake with raspberry sauce. The ambiance was nice and open. Overall, the whole evening was lovely and I would definitely come back again, maybe during their happy hour so I could try more dishes. They have plenty of space in the bar area as well. Interesting experience... the place seems hidden but once you are there the ambiance is pleasant both inside and outside. The hostess/manager was very friendly and helpful. She suggested the pork chops and she was right! Best thing we ordered! The waiter was amazing! Our group loved him! However... the other dishes were all right, my carbonara lacked taste, the dessert seemed stored bought and overall overpriced. The place has potential but it was empty for a Friday night. We had an excellent experience at this restaurant. From the moment we arrived until we left we felt like we were treated like family and friends. The outdoor patio is open and comfortable. The live music was very nice and not loud at all. Perfect for dining. The service was excellent! We were never waiting to speak with anyone they were attentive and accommodating. The food was excellent from appetizers to deserts. We got the grilled portobello with goat cheese which was really delicious, and the ceasar salad. Entrees were the butternut squash ravioli with scallops and lobster in a sage brown butter sauce. AMAZINGLY beautiful presentation and flavor. We also got the Parmesan encrusted sea bass which was cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor!! Desert was lava cake, espresso martini and apple strudel. The manager Benny was very nice and concerned about our dining pleasure. He brought us a complimentary cordial of pistachio limoncello which was incredibly delicious. I will be making reservations again soon and share my wonderful experience with everyone!! Can't say enough about this restaurant!! Definitely worth a try!! read more

2.5 out of 5 but can't give half stars. Looks really pretty outside and still has a nice ambiance inside. Our reservation was 7pm but hostess said they needed to clear out some tables and we had to wait a few, so my husband and I went to the bar to have a drink while we wait. They had a live band on a Saturday night which was cool, band was good and there were some people dancing by the bar. The bartender took so long just getting 2 glasses of sparkling wine for us, almost 10-15 mins! We didn't even order a cocktail! It is LIRW plus it was Saturday so we expected there to be some delay but we didn't get seated until close to 7:45pm! We waited almost an hour! We weren't the only ones either. Almost everyone at the bar was waiting! We all ended up talking about how long each of us have been waiting! When we get seated, our waiter took forever to get our orders and didn't come back with drinks until we had to ask for them. Wait staff kept saying they were sorry not just to us, but to almost all the tables! Very slow and disorganized service to say the least! It was as if it was their first time participating in LIRW since they kept using that as an excuse to why service was so slow! The only reason I gave it a 2.5 is because the food wasn't bad it was pretty good. We ordered from the resto week menu. I got the Branzino and it was cooked really good, the way I like it, can taste the butter! My husband got half roasted chicken which tasted like chicken :-) for apps we got fried clams and calamari. Fried clams was better than the calamari and for dessert we got tiramisu and key lime pie so we can share and both desserts were good. Resto staff acknowledged how slow the service was and offered everyone a $25 gift card when they come back which was also why I didn't give it 1 star, very nice gesture! Got food poisoning a week ago tomorrow. Called TWICE to speak to the owner, left 2 messages with actual people, not a machine, and you guessed it... Still no call back from this restaurant. All I received was a reply on Google review to say "We've been in business for over a year and have never had any problems". Well guess what Il Toscano... You do now and you want to hide and hope it goes away. Guess what, it will not. 6 tables out of 30 were occupied on a Saturday night during prime time dining. You wonder why?!?! This place will be OOB within a year. Especially when people are getting poisoned!!! Management/ownership needs to accept accountability and responsibility and not just hope it goes away. There are literally 100's of steak and seafood restaurants in Suffolk/Nassau county. Do yourself a favor... Go to those!!! read more

Met good friends there who just came from No Carolina. 6:30 reservations and not another table was occupied inside or outside on patio. We were alone all night except for a couple of diners around 730. Wait staff was attentive but nobody else was there. First order of drinks one of 4 was incorrect (really?). Apps were fine. Caesar's salads,crab cake (singular) and meatballs. Entrees were fair very salty. Two were overcooked scallops and lobster hard and chewy. Ribeye overdone. Literally had the worst meal I've ever had in my life there. Steak tasted as if it had been in the freezer for two years, and grilled chicken was so spicy that you couldn't eat it. When we told the owner, he said that it's just salt and pepper then he brought the chef out who proceeded to say that he puts Cajun seasoning on his grilled chicken. We had specifically asked for nothing on the chicken. The waiter said that he has never seen the same people back in the restaurant twice and that he was only going to be staying there until he found another job or the place went out of business which ever came first. Then he said that his parents wanted to come and have dinner where he worked, and he told them not to. To top it off when we complained about the food the owner came out and told us to pay your bill and leave even though dinner was not eaten. We had our daughter's communion lunch here yesterday and had a great experience (from start to finish). The owner and staff were all extremely attentive & accommodating. It was easy to book the book the party and they worked with us to create the perfect menu. They paid close attention to different dietary needs and ensured everyone enjoyed the food. The portions were generous and all the food was delicious. We had a private area of the restaurant which was also nice. The atmosphere is casual but upscale. The restaurant went above and beyond to make sure my daughter (and everyone there) had a special time. Would highly recommend Il Toscano for a party or just to have lunch / dinner. Had NYE dinner here..we were a party of four greeted by the very friendly hostess Mary. The restaurant was extremely busy & our waiter was Darwin. We started off with apps of baked clams which were described as lemony & they were not. Another diner had the crab cakes which were very bready with little crab..they were over done as well.The presentation was 6 small clams on a plate with no lemon sauce. I had a perfectly cooked pork chop which was delicious but again presentation was lacking or rushed. The pics of food on the website didn't match what we got- as the lupini beans were more evident than the kale. The seabass was requested without the pesto & unfortunately was dry. The lamb osso bucco was very good-the polenta not creamy rather lumpy...The pasta seafood was good. The overall presentation of food could have been better. The waiter was nice but service was slow & bus boys seemed overwhelmed. The decor was beautiful.We opted not to have dessert. Went to Il Toscano with some friends (6)- we were told our table would be ready in a few minutes- We were taken to our table quickly inform it was a huge round table set for 8- we were taken to another table that needed to be set but it was the same size (huge) round table that was for eight and could have comfortably fit 10 It was a Saturday night , the restaurant was not packed even though it was restaurant week(not why we went just trying somewhere new) Lighting was dim- only a restaurant week menu was offered and the server( who did not introduce himself) was not prepared to be a waiter. Dining room manager had to assist in all aspects of our dinner and when we told him it was ridiculous that we had. Even waiting 2 hours for our main course his attitude was - what's the issue with that- you have to wait for good food! We went here for my husband's birthday. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by everyone that we met. Our server, Laura, was knowledgeable and friendly. First I asked her if they were the same owners as the previous restaurant, Hooks and Chops, who just closed their doors one day without explanation. She advised us that they were in no way connected to them. I then asked her if they were honoring the gift cards of Hooks and Chops, as I had heard. She kindly said yes..... until mid July. What a wonderful thing to do as we had a $200 GC from there and we were not responded to when I asked the previous owner. I will be returning again. Thank you! read more

The owner kept checking on us to make sure everything was okay. They took very good care of us. We were not rushed at all. The food was served hot and it was delicious! Highly recommend the espresso martini! It's been here for a little over a year and it was our first time. The atmosphere was amazing and I loved the artwork on the walls. I had the veal chop and pasta with marinara sauce. The chop was enough for 3 adults. It was breaded and smothered with sauce and cheese. It looks delicious but looks can be deceiving. I think the bread crumbs and too thick of a sauce did nothing for a tasty meal. My wife enjoyed the sea bass and crab cakes for an appetizer. My glass of Cabernet at $18 was pricey. Cocktails are also expensive. The wait staff are young students. Friendly enough but I prefer an experienced staff who know how to describe the specials. I have a good bad and ugly with our experience. I'll start with the good. There were 9 of us 6 adults 3 children and we all enjoyed our meals. Appetizers were good, entrees were good. The bad - overall the service was sooo slow. Our waitress was nice and pleasant but so slow. We had a 6:30 reservation and we left at 9pm and I only had two drinks not because I wasn't interested in a 3rd but because I was never asked if I wanted another. Before you say "hey you had 9 people you should expect it to take this long" if a restaurant is charging 50+$ a steak they should be able to handle 9 people at a time in under 2 1/2 hours. It's not Applebees. We asked for desert menus (after making it abundantly clear this was taking forever.. but we have three kids that we promised desert to) and it took about 5 minutes to receive a desert menu in a completely empty restaurant at this point. Also as mentioned in the bad - we had three children all under 8 and it took us maybe 45 minutes to place our main course meal (and we received them about 90 minutes into the meal) serve the kids their pasta with butter first. My oldest was the last person to receive her food(which was a disaster - see the ugly). They cleared one plate at a time, there were 9 of us, it took 20 minutes for them to remove our dirty plates. Sooo slow! The ugly.... not once but twice did they place scalding hot plates in front of my daughters, I was able to nudge one to the center of the table before my youngest touched the plate but not so much for my oldest. She screamed and cried instantly after grabbing the plate, the runner paid no mind to this and left the table as if they did nothing wrong in dropping a 110 degree plate in front of an 8 year old with no warning (it was still hot hot hot 10 minutes after it was placed in the table). The runner was a kid so I guess I don't fault him for not being trained properly? Needless to say my daughter has blisters on 3 of her fingers from burning them on the plate. Our server was very kind as was the general manager after the incident took place. But I will never be back. read more

Had gone with my daughter and son in law to celebrate his birthday on May 22nd. I ordered Cioppino ($48.00) that was listed as: Clams, Mussels, Calamari, Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster & Sea Bass with a Garlic Oreganata Crust. Loving Oreganata I was excited but what was presented was an overcooked sloppy array of the mentioned seafood in a watered down greasy tomato sauce sprinkled with seasoned breadcrumbs. I wasn't able to eat any of it as it was not only overcooked and chewy, but the sauce was overpowering the dish. Needless to say, it was a HUGE disappointment. I write reviews because we rely on them when we travel. Hope this helps somebody else. There is outdoor seating, which looked lovely (white tablecloths and candlelight), but we opted for indoor seating when we made our reservations. There were five of us, and we ordered the Baked Stuffed Clams Casino and Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes as appetizers. The clams were so flavorful; the crab cakes and kick in the sauce was pure perfection. Even my mother-in-law, who avoids spicy foods, dipped into it because of the fuss the rest of us made. Between us, we ordered surf & turf, pork chops and chicken and our plates were completely clean! When your father-in-law says "best steak I've had in three years," you know the chef has hit a home run. The cappuccino was perfection and everybody enjoyed their deserts. So glad this restaurant is local, but as one who travels, if we were on the road, we'd get off our route for it, which says something about the ambiance, service and food. Finally, Laura was our server and was attentive to every detail. We will look for her in the future. read more

Restaurant week is always a good opportunity to check out a new place. My daughter and I decided to try out IL Toscano since we've never been. The restaurant week menu looked interesting. Arrived on time for our 6:45 reservation, took them about 10 minutes to figure out the reservation and a place to seat us. From the beginning things just seemed disorganized. Sat at our table for about 20 minutes until the manager came by and asked if anyone had been by the table and took our drink order. Then another 20 minutes later we got our drinks. During that time, another gentleman who claimed to be our waiter and did not introduce himself said he would be "taking care of us". The manager then came back and took our dinner order. Not once during our two courses did our "server" come check on us or ask if we wanted another drink. 20 minutes after we finished dinner, our "server" brought us spoons for our dessert which we didn't get until another 25 minutes later which we got to go after asking for the check cause we were tired of waiting. Our total time there was 2 hours for 2 people who ordered food with small servings. We spent most of the 2 hours waiting. I can be very patient but even this visit tried my patience. We finally learned our servers name when he dropped the check. Logan, I would highly recommend that you introduce yourself to your tables by your name, spend some time checking on your guests, maybe have a little conversation and I'm sure your gratuity's will improve. For the other "managers" walking around the dining room, I would also suggest spending less time looking over peoples shoulders and stopping to talk to them to ask how everything is. My daughter and I were out for a nice evening and we felt like the red headed step children. I'm now headed to Taco Bell for something to eat. read more
