Honestly, the reason I think this store is great is that it allows greater access to organic foods and foods for alternative eating lifestyles in a community that may not have the same access as others. The Trickling Springs organic milk is a must have in my refrigerator and they always have plenty of that milk in stock here. Their bakery products are extremely limited and I think they source these from somewhere else because they come in a package and they're not baked here. On June 6, 2026, I was scratched by a sharp metal corner at a checkout counter while loading groceries onto the conveyor belt. The scratch broke the skin and bled. What made the incident particularly concerning is that this was the second time I had been injured by the same checkout counter. After the first incident several months earlier, I brought the hazard to the attention of store staff. Following the June 6 incident, I sent a detailed email to the customer service address published on the MOM's website. I received no acknowledgment or response. On June 12, I forwarded the same email to Scott Nash, the company's owner and CEO, using the email address published on the MOM's website. Again, I received no acknowledgment or response. On June 16, after ten days without any response from the company, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. As of June 19, I still have not received any communication from MOM's. What disappoints me most is not the scratch itself. Maintenance issues and mistakes can happen in any business. What is disappointing is that a longtime customer reported a repeat safety hazard through multiple channels and received no response whatsoever. I would have been satisfied with a simple acknowledgment, confirmation that the issue had been investigated, and an explanation of what corrective action had been taken. Instead, I was met with complete silence. Based on this experience, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

We were seated on the ground floor. The decor was exotic in a pleasant way and it looked like there were many seating or standing options. It was quiet in the early afternoon. We ordered the fries with aioli, I had the lamb tartare and my friend the lamb bolognese, and we both had pound cake for dessert. We both deeply enjoyed the taste and presentation of the dishes we ordered. The fries were hot and crispy and the aioli delicious -- I only wish there were more given the generous portion of fries. My tartare had the taste and texture of pate, despite the lamb chop exterior. Very clever. The aroma was just right. The cake was warm and moist with a crispy crust. My friend remarked that dishes of similar quality, taste, and presentation would cost triple in Manhattan. Regrettably, we were charged $12 for the $10 dessert. The waiter attributed it to a "computer error," but I've had to deal with overcharging by several of my favorite DC restaurants. Whether intentional or not, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Other cons: The menu is admittedly sketchy. My friend and I were unwilling to gamble on expensive and elaborate dishes. It sounds like the reviewers here did. Also, the restaurant is located in the heart of Capitol Hill, far from the metro. It's a long walk or you'll be looking for parking. Butterworth's is now my favorite restaurant in DC. I've been wanting to bring my family here for the longest time, but I've hesitated because I don't want to deal with the contempt of the host, the embarrassment of disputing false charges, and the pain of finding parking. I've been wanting to return solo for the longest time, but I've hesitated because the place is in the middle of nowhere, and I don't want to walk 25 minutes or pay $15 for a cab ride just to pay another $50 for a meal here, as wonderful as the experience might be. All that said, in terms of taste, presentation, ambiance, and price, Butterworth's left a strong and positive impression on me.
