    Maliziosa Sandwich

One of the best if not the best sandwiches I've ever had! I got the Maliziosa, and it was so fresh, flavorful and a huge portion! Whatever you do- get something with their grilled onions. Maybe consider splitting a sandwich if you are not completely starving. This lasted as lunch and dinner.

    Peposo

The best, most authentic Italian food in Florence!! We loved it so much that we came back several times. Everything we tried was amazing, including the sangria. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have wifi and a clean bathroom. Prices are extremely reasonable. You will not be disappointed!!!

Good local spot to get a quick bit to eat. Staff were helpful with figuring out the menu. Seating is limited and WiFi is available.

My husband and I ate here twice while in Florence for 5 days. We loved the staff, they are super friendly and efficient. The panini were perfecto, we loved each one we order. Plus an aperol spritz and pesto pasta salad that was freaking delicious. Highly recommend, plus no crazy line.

    Lampredotto

Oh yum. Lampredotto, baby! I stumbled in here on my way to the Nomination jewelry store and after unsuccessfully making it to a well-known lampredotto food cart, I decided to give this place a try. Why not? It was packed and for good reason! I was skeptical, given its touristy spot, but really this place was awesome. And after wasting all my time waiting in line for that horrible yet famous sandwich shop, I just got tired of cured meats and schiacciata. And while I only had the lampredotto here, this place was busy with customers I'm ordering a variety of things. Given the location of this joint, it almost seems out of place - it's a cozy and homey cafe and people are grabbing a quick bite, a coffee or a glass of wine, but around the corner is the touristy hustle and bustle of Florence of Via Por Santa Maria - so I was a little surprised when I saw lampredotto on the menu. I watched the owner take his time carefully crafting a charcuterie board of freshly sliced meats and cheeses for another party. As for the lampredotto, I find that lampredotto in general is mild in taste and that salsa verde is really necessary to add some acidity, for the tripe can get heavy and rich. The tripe here is lovely, it's so fall apart tender and seems like a moist roast beef with some fatty bits. I love the roll that the sandwich is served on, it's so soft and crusty, it's amazingly soft, and yet has just the right structure to hold all the sopping juices of the tripe without the bread turning into mush. I didn't think I'd enjoy the bread/roll at all, and yet it's such a key component to all of it. I think this sandwich would be so comforting on a cold day (yet here I am in Florence in this 90+ degree weather ). I find this sandwich to be akin to some kind of comfort food, and now that I am back stateside I am missing this sandwich. I tried the Il Trippone sandwich too, but I enjoyed the Lampredotto so much more: one because of the salsa verde which added a necessary layer of flavor and acidity, and two, while I like honeycomb tripe, I found that it being stewed with tomato and carrots just seemed a little boring, like an Italian meat sauce but with tripe. So glad I stumbled upon this place and so glad to have gone here twice during my stay in Firenze!

Great atmosphere, great sandwiches, friendly staff. Definitely worth dropping by for a quick snack or drink!

This was our favorite sandwich shop in Florence! We went twice! The staff was very friendly and they have a large selection of paninis and sandwiches, highly recommend checking this quiet spot out!

They have a five dollar euro sandwiches like all the Panini places in Florence, but the difference is they have some really cute seating.

By the time we arrived and scoped out the Duomo, we were definitely ready for lunch. We were walking down the crowded cobblestone streets and decided that wanted a sandwich for lunch. We made a quick left turn and saw a line of people waiting. We weren't necessarily sure what they were waiting for until we inquired. Most people were waiting for sandwiches - SCORE! We decided to get in line and realized how quickly the line was moving. Traffic was being moved by their workers who were assisting with menu suggestions. We quickly got up to the front of the establishment and realized how tiny it is inside. It was so cool to see an actual Italian deli in action. From what I heard, they source their ingredients from local farmers, too! I ordered the La Rosa and my husband ordered the Gregorio (in honor of our friend Greg!). We waited outside for a few minutes while they prepared our order. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious and the bread was surprisingly crispy. The cost was super reasonable, too, for how much food you are getting. We will be back!

It was the first schiaccata spot we went to in Florence, and they set the bar really high. We arrived around 12pm on a Thursday. The line was out the door, but one of the employees managing the queue informed us that we were in a good spot. The line honestly moved quickly. We waited 15-20 minutes at most before placing our order. The restaurant has limited seating upstairs, but luckily we were able to snag a spot. I ordered one of their vegetarian specials, the 3 cheese blend with signature spicy sauce, and added turkey carpaccio. You can customize the sandwiches as you please. The sound of the crunch of the bread was the price of admission right there. The ingredients all tasted amazing, but the paper thin sliced turkey and spicy marinara really stood out to me the most. If I have to be really nitpicky, I did think that the bread doesn't have longevity. Could be that my sandwich was so saucy, which makes the bread soggy and gummy sooner than other other types.

November 9, 2024 2:30PM…read more It does appear they have two stalls on the same street that you can order from. One side seemed to have more alcohol on display and the side I was on was more sandwich focused, but I'm pretty sure you can order the same things from both windows. Initially I was going to get the 21 - Fresh Sausage and Eggplant because I'm an eggplant lover... the lady at the counter was kind enough to let me know that the fresh sausage is actually rare, uncooked sausage and gave me a small piece to try. I was getting ready to get on a train that day and didn't want something that might not sit well with me, so I moved on to number 27 spicy salami and cream cheese. My partner got the number 1, ham, cream cheese and rocket salad. Both are very good sized and oh so delicious. The line moved quickly, so many options for decision paralysis. This is the place for schiacciate Florentine as recommended from friends who used to live here. Definitely would recommend to study up their menu before coming so it's easier to pick what you want. This is more of a stall and you grab and go, we stood around the sidewalk and inhaled our sandwiches. Watch out for the pigeons getting ready to take your crumbs too, you can see them on the ledge of the building getting ready to attack. A must visit for Florence.

The line is long right around lunch time but it moves fairly fast. They have a variety of choices so you might need time to decide. The roasted ham is tasty and the truffle cream adds a lovely flavor and ties the dish together. Finocchiona E Crema De Formaggio- Can't sing enough of their bread's praises! The tuscan salami is spicy and flavorful. The fennel is slightly sweet and the cream cheese is smooth and light. Great experience overall!

It would be the third sandwich spot on our trip, and we had been to a couple of bangers beforehand that set the bar. I was a bit worried that we were getting lured into a tourist trap because of the restaurant being by the duomo, but it was located behind it where there was much less foot traffic compared to the front facing Piazza Santa Maria Novella. We arrived around noon on a Sunday. My husband and I arrived early enough to beat the lunch crowd, so we had no wait at all. By the time we finished our sandwiches, we saw the queue out the door. There were a couple of high tables inside the restaurant, but there was more seating outdoor. I really liked how you can customize your sandwich the way you wanted down to the bread, meats, cheeses, and toppings. They didn't only have schiaccata bread, which I thought was cool. You had other options of breads like ciabatta. Panini Toscani allows you to sample their various meats, such as porchetta, proscuitto, mortadella, etc. As someone who doesn't eat pork, one of the employees had me sample their various cheeses instead. Since I've been eating schiaccati the past 2 days, I stuck to the same bread as a baseline and added soft cheese, arugula, spicy marinara, eggplant, and sundried tomatoes. I enjoyed my sandwich very much, and the crunch on the bread was everything.

The exterior is small and charming, with a line spilling out the door, while the interior is cozy and bustling with limited seating. The vibe is lively, welcoming, and very interactive, with opportunities to taste their various meats and cheeses. There's Italian and English menus to peruse before you create your customizable sandwich; the amount of options is almost overwhelming, though sampling can help alleviate this "problem." We arrived at around noon on a Wednesday, and waited around fifteen minutes; the line moves fast, despite being out the door! You select from a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, and four additional toppings; they will then lightly toast your sandwich, and you pay at the front counter. I opted for their Ciabatta Toscana with Porchetta (roast pork), Stracciatella (a shredded creamy cheese similar to burrata), rucola (arugula), pepperoni sotto aceto (peppers in vinegar), pepperoni grigliati (grilled peppers), and melanzane (eggplant). My panini was a wonderful blend of textures and flavors; the bread had a crisp exterior and a pillowy-soft interior, the roast pork was succulent and well-seasoned with an herby crust, the straciatella added a creamy richness, and the various vegetables packed an acidic punch. The sandwich was also quite a generous portion, leaving me full for hours. In terms of price point, I believe I ended up paying around €12, which was quite affordable, especially given the central location, interactive experience, and generous portions: excellent value for a high-quality quick meal.
