Unassuming street food spot with amazing lampredotto. Not sure about the tripe, only had time and stomach (no pun intended) for one sandwich. Asked for extra spice, nice kick, not bad. It is close to Piazza Della Signoria but also somewhat hidden. I saw another stand and what sets them apart is he was boiling the pots with the lampredotto and the tripe, and he dips the bread into the broth as he prepares the sandwich. This spot was recommended by our City tour Guide. We were talking about local eats, Salumerias, sandwiches and the topic of Lampredotto came up. He asked if we've ever had a cow stomach lining sandwich. We asked, as in Tripe? He said, this is not traditional Tripe but in the Tripe neighborhood. It is the fourth and final stomach of the cow or Reed Tripe. Okay, let's see if this is much different. In the middle of a small square (Dante's) this spot is one of a couple of kiosks. Check hours as they are open later than posted inf. Our Tour Guide advised us to mention his name and we can get a sandwich and wine for $5 Euros. Don't think this spot got the memo but no matter this is reasonably priced street food. To the sandwich-oh it's delicious. This version is topped with a slightly spicy tomato sauce with a touch of chimichuri style sauce. The broth the Tripe has been cooked in is soaked up by the bread which gives it the just right soft texture. So rich, saucy and the Tripe is so tender. Wow! According to our Guide this spot has the best Lampredotto in Florence. One of those local flavors that all have an opinion on which spot's version is the best. They had other Sammie's (Bollito-Italian Beef) and sides. When in Firenze this sandwich is a must try! read more

This place deserves way more hype. It's fantastic. All'Antico Vinaio has lines around the block because of the hype, but this little stand is so much more flavorful and delicious. This is the kind of place Anthony Bourdain would have loved. Delicious food made with care using the parts of the animal that everyone else is afraid to serve. I had tripe one day and lampredotto the next. Loved it. The owner is such a nice dude as well. read more

Really great and inexpensive porchetta along with a host of other Tuscan panini. The pork was tender, crispy, salty and fatty all at the same time which means it's an awesome panini. Prices are absurdly low for the amount and quality. A few seats are set up around the truck so you can snack right there. Also has bottled beer. Definitely stop by for a porchetta or bolito. read more

L'Antico Trippaio was my last meal in Florence and it definitely did not dissappoint. It remains one of my favorite memories of this city. I don't remember exactly what I ordered, (the term "lampredotto" comes to mind) but my family tried three different sandwiches, mostly tripe. (My family is Chinese, so tripe is considered amazeballs while many other Americans may shun it.) All the sandwiches were hot, salty, messy, and delicious - and cheap! If I had discovered this place sooner, it would have been likely that I would have eaten here every day. The staff were super friendly and amused at our enthusiasm. As of late 2018, it was $5 for a lampredotto sandwich. Definitely add the salsa verde. I thought the tripe was a bit salty at times, but it does enhance the flavor and helps cut the greasy feeling. I noticed the difference when I had tried the under salted lampredotto at another place. I also like how the tripe here still has a bite and isn't too soft. Customer service isn't great. Especially when you don't look local. You can tell especially with the lady, it wasn't just tourists, I saw how she spoke to non-Italian locals, and it's a shame to see her treat others that way, because she herself isn't an Italian native either. Then there's also preferential treatment. Our order was taken and already being prepared (letting the bread soak in the sauce) when two regulars came up, and I saw the man take 2 of our 3 sandwiches and give it to them, then put 2 new ones back on. By the time he finally gave us our order, there was a marked difference between the one that had been left soaking the longest and the other 2 that hadn't sat as long, of which the rolls were tough as leather and impossible to chew because the sauce hadn't soaked through while my friend who was eating the first one couldn't understand why we were having such a hard time chewing when hers was so soft, lol! Serving regulars first over you, though, is something I'm sure would've happened to any tourist whether Italian or foreign since it's not the first time I saw it in Italy. read more

This little cart may not seem as though it would provide such filling and savory sandwiches, but it was awesome! Don't waste your money on a high-prices meal when the true flavors of Florence are housed right here! We'd been given the recommendation to go here from a friend who had lived in Florence for over a decade and it co completely and utterly lived up to the hype! My husband could not even put into words how delicious his lampredotto sandwich was, yet he reveled in every bite throughout his process of eating it and said that it actually got better as the juices settled into the meat. I went a completely different route with an eggplant and spicy salami sandwich, but it too was amazing! Though we went to a much higher scale restaurant for dinner last night, this food truck cart was just as equally fulfilling for less than a tenth of the cost! read more

When you look up about street food in Florence, one of the things that you have to try is lampredotto. Hence, we ordered just that - panino al lampredotto. You also had a choice of adding a spicy sauce to it, but my boyfriend can't really take spicy so we kept it as is. Being Chinese, tripe is a common dish that can be ordered at dim sum so I was curious as to how different/similar it may taste here. The panini was very tasty and a bit greasy at the bottom of the wrap, but the taste of the tripe was very good. It was very flavorful, delicious and not dry at all. If tripe is a little off-putting, they do serve other paninis besides that. read more
