This is the worst company for anything. They have the worst customer service. My order was missing mirror but on their shipping it showed it was shipped. It's been over a month and I can't get in touch with anyone to get mirror for my daughter. If there was a zero star or negative I would give them that. I've never been in an IKEA store, my mom needed some new chairs and table to replace the 25 year table and 15 year chairs. I like how the store is like a one way direction so no ones crashing into you or going the wrong way. It's very clean and well placed. But the store itself is not for me. The missing stars is the horror of actual cowhide covers and sheep skins, my daughter (age 10) was horrified. But she loved the beds and kids stuffies. read more

My fiancé and I visited the IKEA in Potomac Mills (Woodbridge, VA) this past weekend to buy some furniture, since we just moved in together. I'd previously visited this location with my uncle several years ago. I am really impressed with their selection of items and it seems like they carry all the items listed on the website. The store is organized and clean and has an excellent cafe (which I will review separately). We found exactly what we were looking for and thensome. I definitely prefer it to the IKEA in College Park, even though that's a great IKEA too. I highly recommend this place! read more

Terrible Experience. I placed an order at Ikea Woodbridge, VA. Under the name Ms. Li, and stay at home 5 days for it. Ikea keep breaking the appointments, and they broke the appointment 4 times in total so far. I ordered some furnitures in two separate orders. The first order was delivered on July 27th, Friday, and the second order, a $628 sofa order, was supposed to be delivered at the same day, but it was not. I call Customer support several times, and in the end, the customer support told me that the item showed as delivered in the system and there is nothing they can do on the phone. One July 28th, Saturday, I have to drive 40 mins to the store to talk to the manager in person. The manager told me that it was a shipping error so he placed a new order for me. The new order should be delivered on July 29th, Sunday, so I was waiting at home; However, the order was not delivered either. I checked the status and the order has not be processed to the shipping company. I tried to call Ikea customer support several time, finally they contacted the store manager. The manager called me back and told me that the order has not been processed. He has to reschedule the delivery for me on Jul 30th, Monday, which is today. I quite my job and stay at home today; However, I checked the status this morning, and it still shows not processed. So I call the customer support. They contact the store manager and told me that the order has not been processed. They have to reschedule it to Friday, which is Aug 3rd. I felt fooled. I quite my job on last Friday and this Monday, and I am going to do this on Friday again. During the pass weekend, I spend one day driving to the store to talk with the store manager, and the other days staying at home for the order. Second try after wading through 30 questions in phone tree hell they let me wait on hold for 40 minutes then I finally talked to someone. Case ID assigned. Parts are supposed to be sent. Nothing. The one star is for the delivery service. Took THREE attempts after THREE days to deliver our furniture! The first two, they said we weren't home, but we were! I would not use IKEA Woodbridge or any IKEA to remodel your Kitchen. The process has been too time consuming. Below is a record of the interactions I have had regarding an order of out of stock pieces. Not only was I told they would be delivered days before, I was promised over and over that IKEA would process a refund. It has been almost two months since I placed my original order and over a month since I cancelled the special order for out of stock items. No one had ever returned any of my calls and they have not refunded over $500.00 that I am owed on merchandise I never received. I have spent over 3 and a half ours trying to get a refund. It took over 3 hours in the store to get someone to help me initially and to place my order. I have used IKEA for 2 other full house renovations (Kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms) and one Kitchen renovation and I never had such a bad experience. No Refund 8/20 - 41 minutes 1:20AM - Main IKEA Customer Service (888-888-4532) - Spoke with Rebecca - She said a store credit had been processed on August 7th for $429.90 and sent to an address that does not exist. The amount was wrong. The refund should have been credited back to my account and a store credit should not have been issued. Rebecca confirmed this. She gave me the return id number. She said she would contact Maria the head of Customer Relations for IKEA Woodbridge (168) and put me on hold. She then came back on the line and said that she was connected with Heidi the After Sales manager through Maria the head of Customer Relations Store 168. Heidi stated to Rebecca that she would call me back no later than 5:00pm that day. I informed Rebecca that I was flying out that day at 6:00pm. We love ikea! Every time my husband and I go there, it is a pleasant experience. So many choices for every kind of furniture or decorative item. Some of the prices are really reasonable too. Most of the furniture that we have in our townhouse is from ikea (chairs, footstool, coffee table, bookshelf, decorations, etc)., and is holding up really well. And not only is it fun to do furniture shopping at ikea (and to get inspirations from seeing it all on display), but the food in the restaurant upstairs is actually pretty good too (AND super cheap!). I LOVE IKEA! This is the closest location and it's 3 hours away. My husband and I made a special day trip once just to come shopping here. We bought our living room entertainment center that day. I recently stopped in after spending the day being a tourist in DC. I usually eat a meal in the cafeteria before shopping. On the last trip I got everything to stock my daughter's new kitchen in her barracks for about $80. I mean everything: dishes, silverware, pots and pan, cooking utensils, glasses, knives and cutting board, mixing bowls, colander, and potholders. Everything I've ever bought here has lasted years. I went to ikea while I was traveling in Virginia. I purchased a EKBY Alex shelf with the brackets through their buy online and pick up in store. They had trouble finding my order. Never gave me my brackets. Assumed they were in the box. Now I'm back in Georgia. Opened the box and guess what wasn't there? The brackets. I love ikeas items but this is ridiculous. Well, if you hop by their website, you can feast your eyes upon the variety of things they offer, and your eyes will be opened to the reality that their options are near 'bout limitless...pardon the country folk terminology here ya'll....but it's the plain ol' truth people! It's not just the options here, it's the prices as well! Besides finding everything from beds, desks, mirrors, candles, candle holders, stuffed animals, baby/kid/adult bedding, dishes, utensils (I could spend all day writing out all the items you could find here including an in house daycare to babysit your kids and an eatery to hop by for a snack break)....you will also find helpful employees who will assist you when and if needed! Ok, as a side note but also an important bit of advice, if you're one of those people/families who happen to have a small car....be WARNED you can't fit it ALL in your small car! How do I know? Because I have made that mistake several times in the past (yeah, I admit it, I am kind of a slow learner at times! but can I blame it on the fact that ANY time I see an ikea I am drawn to its beautiful BLUE sign no matter what sized car I am driving at that moment) If you have a friend or a relative that you can borrow their larger vehicle/van...strike that their ECONO sized van preferably (lol)....DO IT!!! If you are REALLY wanting to get all the items you need for your new place at an affordable price you might just want to invest in renting a moving van for the day....and I am truly NOT kidding here! Ahhhh....Ikea. Possibly my favorite place on earth. My dad is in the military, and we moved quite frequently. Ikea was our savior. I can't count the times we went there! My mom actually bought the nice stuff there, they have a special brand of furniture that is really nice quality and higher priced. However, when I moved to DC with my fiance and couldn't bring the furniture that his family had given him for our last apartment- where did we go? IKEA! We literally furnished our entire apartment with Ikea. Couch, table , chairs, bed and all the little things in between. No, this stuff wont last forever, but it's perfect for two people who are hardly ever home anyway! and it's cute enough that we like it when we are home! Okay so this was my first time to IKEA (my friend had told me a lot about it) and I am absolutely AMAZED. We need one in Florida sooo bad!!! They have everything under the sun. And if you are going for the first time and someone tells you to make sure you follow the line on the floor, make sure you do it or you WILL get lost. I picked up this great tv stand that I know even at target would cost me $300-400 dollars, but here it only cost me $99 and it is pretty good quality for $99. Food is cheap (in a good way), furniture is cheap (in a bad way). Delivery service, is horrible. They didn't mention at the home delivery department that they will only deliver it through your front door and that is it. They advertise that it will take out the heavy lifting and all that good stuff, so that's why I went with this option. I have a bad back and since I didn't want to end up killing myself over this cheap furniture, I forked over 90$ for them just to drop them 2 inches in my front door. I asked them why couldn't they move it upstairs, they said they only bring it through the door and that's it. They didn't even move it enough so that I could close the damn door. I called the delivery department at Ikea to ask them about it, and they pretty much said it was in the hands of the delivery company. The delivery people were horrible too. They didn't give a call in advance on when they were coming either. They give you a 4 hour time window and expect you to be home the whole time? They came 10 minutes before my time window and were already talking about how to spend their evening (yes, even though i don't look like it, I understand spanish too). Right before they left, I also heard the driver asked if they saw me have any money for tip in my hand and the other guy looked at me for a few seconds and then told him no. Wear walking shoes. I am surprised runners don't come to IKEA on a raining day just to workout. Once you've walked through the entire store you should have accomplished a solid 3 miles. This store is pretty overwhelming. After every turn, I thought to myself "I would much rather shop on their website". Yes, they may have a lot of nice things, but how do you decide on what shelf you want when they have over 25 to choose from. I become incoherent in stores like this. To soothe my nerves, IKEA conveniently places their food court at mile 1.5. We were eager to try their salmon and meatballs. Yum! I loved the salmon. After our lunch, we continued our hike. I was glad to see that the dinner and flat wear section of the store was less intimidating. I paid about $3 each for some really nice red wine glasses. So, my hike was not in vain. read more

I called customer service 3x and each time was put on hold for 30+ minutes with no answer. There was no tracking number and no delivery confirmation. I ended up going to this store to straighten it out. I was passed on from one guy to another. Nobody had any idea what to do. They told me the rug wasn't in stock so they couldn't even give me one. I went to the rug department and lo and behold, there's like 5 of the rugs. Not only were they not helpful, but the returns dept straight up lied to me. The general negative consensus about IKEA is the lack of support for instruction manual. If you have enough common sense to follow a picture draws your good to go. Or the store can build it for you for a fee .what I appreciate about this store has been their eagerness provide me with a replacement part or missing parts . The As Is department has extraordinary deals on appliances and sofas , if your willing to buy a store display . I'm someone who relocates often 2 moves a year and I learned the hard way that most furniture will lose support and stability after the third re-assembly. Sales people or management CANNOT be trusted!! They will tell you one thing to get you to buy a product (e.g. of course our delivery guys will take the sofa out of the box for you), but then when 'push comes to shove' you find out that is not true. And when you call customer service (and wait 10-15 minutes to talk to a human being) they'll explain to you that they are sorry you feel misled, but there is nothing they can do! Sounds like they get 5hus issue a lot - gee I wonder why?!?! Could it be that lots of folks get misled (a nicer way to say lied to) at IKEA. RUDE. I was in another IKEA location in MD the day before and the TV stand that goes with my living-room set was out of stock and is discontinued . I was able to locate 59 of them in the Woodbridge VA location with the help of IKEA in MD. I called the Woodbridge store today trying to see if they could send it to me, or even hold one so I don't make the treck to VA for nothing. The person who first answered the phone said " NO you're not understanding me I said we can't ship it to you, buy it on-line" and had a major attitude. We shop for TV stand today, I was surprised that we can pick each parts on some items (with the price list $$) which was great. We decide to get one TV stand by our custom idea with no doors and shelves. Great!! We saved another $90. Customer service was awesome as always. We were kind of rush. Had no time to walk through the entire store to look for the item. They helped us locate and walked us to pick up the item. In additional, one of pcs was out of stock. The staffs also helped check the availability of the item in nearby location, and the next shipment in store. Needed a simple cabinet door and hinges, IKEA had the answer. However, upon arrival--already knowing what I came to purchase--the shopping trip turned into a comedy of errors. Warehouse staff required me to go to show room, show room staff sent me back to warehouse. Item showed online and in store as available but staff couldn't find it and said they were out. Already had my money at this point. More lines and new register to try and order for delivery--no go. New line and register to process return (of items paid for but never received). I used to live in Orlando and frequented the one there after it opened; I was so disappointed that there wasn't one in Hampton Roads when I moved there. Although IKEA has really disappointed me throughout the years with the higher prices and lower quality unfortunately, I still shop here due to not being able to find an abundance of modern furniture at decent prices in the area. I prefer this location over the College Park one any day. I feel like this one has more of a selection, and the employees are much much nicer here. Additionally, it's so close to Potomac Mills so great to hit two birds with a stone and shop for housewares at the discount stores in the mall. The restaurant in IKEA is surprisingly good.
