Bedspread
Josh R.

Some of their home textiles lately have been really good. I bought a duvet which I love, 100% cotton, washed & dried perfectly. So then I bought a queen sheet set for $29.00 which was also really nice, which prompted me to buy another set of sheets as well as a really nicely made bedspread. Also over a certain amount and you can get free shipping to your home.

The Missus and I have visited occasionally since this store opened. Contemporary Scandinavian furniture is not our thing, but we do enjoy meandering through the maze, especially to smirk at the subtle tongue-in-cheek humor found at every turn (see the accompanying photos). We always start out by insisting, "We don't need anything!" but inevitably depart with tummies full of Swedish meatballs and a cart filled with kitchen gadgets and offbeat doohickeys. Through the years, I've assembled a few of their storage and shelving units. I'm reasonably handy, but for those who prefer, IKEA offers an assembly service and also a home handyman service called "Taskrabbit." We're less enamored with their self-service business model, but on the occasions when we've needed assistance, we've found store personnel to be friendly and knowledgeable. Nearly all of the cashier lanes have been converted to self-checkout, which can be cumbersome for those who purchase multiple large items. The return process is clunky; you need to fill out a form on a touchscreen in order to be assigned a place in line. And the wait can be long.

Where are the wooden leg options?

Ikea was my go to for inexpensive yet stylish decor and furniture, great for clients in a tight budget. The showroom used be be expansive, with interesting vignettes and a huge selection. So WHAT HAPPENED?!?! I was there this week and much is that is gone. The kitchen department seems much smaller and harder to navigate. The office dept is tiny! And what happened to the simple wooden desks that were utilitarian yet chic? None to be found, just tubular metal legs and confusing signage. And an employee who spent the entire time in his computer for the entire 15 mins I was there. Never once asked any one of the 10+ guests if they needed help. The only thing that saved them was their meatball lunch, still delicious and with lovely staff. I left with some 93 cent Easter chocolates and some elderflower preserves. Please fix this Ikea! I've been a regular shopper since you opened 20 years ago, and this is not a celebration of your store.

Custom cabinetry with professional consultation

IKEA Schaumburg has been here for over 20 years but still maintains itself as a very popular store. The 3 floored store offers a vast variety of items from lawn & garden, kitchen housewares, furniture, lighting, bedding, imported grocery items (cheese, jams, fish) etc... They do offer custom cabinetry and countertops as well. They also boast a traditional cafeteria where they are known for their Swedish meatballs and fresh baked cinnamon rolls! It's right off the expressway and easily accessible.

I love IKEA! We strolled around, starting on the 3rd floor and working our way down. We really came to IKEA to eat Ha Ha! The veggie(vegan) hot dog is so good! And the plant(vegan) balls. I'm not a fan of the new plant-based strawberry soft serve; more like a sorbet.

Meatballs

First impression: It's huge. The biggest Ikea I've been in, though I've only been in a handful of them. It was also crowded. There were no shopping carts to be found on the first two floors, only those irritating plastic shopping baskets on wheels. I don't like them. We finally found some carts on the third floor. Prices at Ikea are always hit or miss. You can find some incredible deals if you are patient and know what you're looking for. I wasn't too impressed with the staff at this location, most seemed a bit cold. The lines were long at the restaurant and I felt claustrophobic the way everyone was crowded around the ordering kiosks. I ordered a bottle of water and had to go hunting for it. It was a confusing set up. The meatballs were pretty good though, as expected. I suppose it was partially our fault, choosing to go shopping on a Sunday. If we have to return it will be on a weekday when it's less crowded and the staff isn't as rushed.

Went on a Saturday morning and it was not very busy at all. This location is quite large and the restaurant is updated with kiosks and new decor. IKEA provides stylish furniture at an affordable price. It may not last forever but the look and function make it great value. The only negative is the instructions are pictures only which can get frustrating. The nice thing is that if you are missing any pieces you can go to the service and get any replacements. It is a bit difficult to find ikea employees on the floor and the fact you have to walk thru the whole section is inconvenient. Swedish meatballs and cinnamon rolls are a must.

Coat rack with hanging pots on them

I like that IKEA has displays set up so you can walk through and get ideas on what you want to take home. This location looks bigger than the one in Bolingbrook at least from the outside (this was my first time inside one of their stores). It was really crowded but they had a lot of registers so you can get checked out fast. We bought a new shoe rack that has a seat on the top. The price was good! We also saw a kitchen table we're thinking about getting.

Garbage.

Ask the Community - IKEA

Anyone have difficulties with cancelling an order online? I've tried calling, and no response. They just say the have high call volumes and hang up.

Yes. I'm in an IKEA fan-group on Facebook: Everyone is having a great deal of difficulty getting through to an actual human being.

Phone number for Schaumburg store?

The website lists it as: (888) 888-4532. You will be routed to the call center and wait forever. It is very hard to speak to someone directly at the store. I know from experience. Good luck!

The only thing I will not buy from IKEA is sheets, that is something you have to spend real money on and can't get for cheap.

Upon entering this wonderful, energetic, and beautiful gal named Valerie introduced herself with her warm smile. How refreshing to be greeted respectfully and kindly, instead of the usual " need help?" OR not even getting acknowledged at all. Valerie instantly made us feel welcome and guided us with expertise and knowledge of brands, materials, and structure. Before we knew it, we bought an incredible new leather couch, leather recliner and leather ottoman! It's wasn't just about her salesmanship which is beyond outstanding, it was about giving us everything she had- 100% customer service. I've been in sales for 47 years and am old school giving my own clients 1000% as a Realtor, and seeing Val give the same was refreshing, and meaningful to us. We've been to other stores looking and the service (if we were even acknowledged) was cold , uninformative, and made us feel the salesman was inconvenienced. Not the case with Val at Penny Mustard. We felt like family. Val and I hit it off instantly. And we appreciated the comraderie among all the sales girls working. They worked helping each other. Again what a phenomenal experience we had. I just had to brag about them. It's just so darn wonderful to see that people still care about superb customer care and service. Next time you need furniture, run don't walk to Penny Mustard and see Val. Absolutely outstanding! We adore her!

Buyer beware: We've been without a functioning couch for over a month -- and we do not recommend…read morethis company. We ordered a couch and selected a delivery date based on the delivery options the company provided. We planned around it, expecting a normal delivery of brand-new furniture. Instead, we've dealt with repeated damage, failed deliveries and no clear point of contact. And when you try to get help, there's effectively no human support to resolve the problem. Here's what happened from start to finish: Delivery attempt No. 1: No warning, then "it's damaged" On the scheduled delivery day, we received no advance notice of any issues. The delivery team arrived and told us the couch had been damaged at the warehouse and would not be delivered. The drivers even said we should have been notified ahead of time, but we weren't. They proceeded with the rest of the order, but once the truck was opened it was clear additional pieces were damaged, too -- specifically the coffee table and side tables. The drivers refused to deliver them because the damage was obvious. So after waiting for delivery, we ended the day with no couch and damaged items that could not be delivered. Delivery attempt No. 2: Couch arrives -- but defective and incorrectly assembled We waited for a second attempt. This time the couch did arrive, but it was in unacceptable condition for a new purchase. It had: * a rip/tear * improper assembly * a bend in the center * a bottom riser dragging * the wrong legs We were not comfortable sitting on it. We were also pushed toward "repair" as a solution, which is not reasonable for a brand-new couch that arrived defective and incorrectly assembled. Delivery attempt No. 3: The "replacement" is broken on the truck This attempt was supposed to be the fix: exchange the broken couch for a new, non-broken couch. Instead, the delivery team told us the replacement couch had a bent footrest while still on the truck. They said they tried to repair it, but it still wasn't functioning properly. After three delivery attempts, we were once again left without a working couch. Over a month later: still no resolution It has now been more than a month and we still do not have a functioning couch or a clear resolution. Communication has been slow and inconsistent, we've been bounced between people, and there is no single person taking ownership of the issue through completion. Bottom line We paid for new furniture. We've received damaged items, defective assembly, and a replacement that was broken before it even came off the truck -- plus no reliable way to speak to someone who can fix it. We do not recommend this company. If you're thinking about ordering, be warned: if something goes wrong, you may be stuck for weeks with no clear path to a resolution.

Ashley HomeStore located at the outer skirts of Woodfield mall is a pretty big home furniture…read morestore. They have furniture mostly for bedrooms, dining, and kitchen. If you like old wood style furniture then this is the place for you. We decided to go here to look for some kitchen stools. We were greeted by one of their sales rep Vinny. We asking about the sale price and the guy was very rude. He had some bad attitude and he kept pushing to make the sale. We asked about delivery and he gave a random number of 4 weeks without even looking it up. It got to a point where he really made us feel unwanted and cheap. We got to the point that we decided to just walk away from the store as he had the worst customer service ever. On our way out we saw another sales rep, Mary, who was helping other customers. We decided to talk to her about our experience with Vinny and our interest to buy the stools. Mary was extremely understanding and helpful. She looked up the stool details and provided us the actual delivery time. She even looked up the best price possible for the stools. She was so helpful that at the end she gave her number to make sure if we had any problems then to reach out to her. We were seconds away from leaving the store and never returning, to ending up buying something from the store. Mary truly displayed what is good customer service while Vinny was a classic example of someone who should not be talking to customers.

Seems like they haven't done anything about the extremely rude salespeople working in this store…read more I walked in and was approached by a salesman. I told him I was browsing and never made it clear that I was ready to buy. But obviously, he was trying to push me to buy with typical sales jargon and techniques. I found a set I liked and started asking simple questions. The salesman seemed annoyed by basic questions, like when a certain couch would be available for delivery. His response was, "I'll tell you when you're ready to order." I liked the price and asked for his business card because I understand salespeople often work on commission, and I wanted to make sure he would get credit if I came back another day. Instead of simply giving me the card, he questioned why I wanted it and refused, only saying he would be there on certain days. Even though he wasn't particularly friendly, I was still willing to buy. I told him I was going to the car to ask my wife to come in and try the couch since she was waiting outside with our babies. We took turns going in. She liked the couch as well and got the details we needed, though she also mentioned the salesman seemed irritated when she took a picture of the price and information. Since this was a major purchase, we wanted to compare a couple of other stores before deciding. Out of courtesy, my wife went back inside to thank him and let him know we might return, which was true. We simply wanted to check one more place first. That's when he started chewing her out for "wasting his time" and actually yelled at her. She came out distressed and upset and said if we come back, we will not buy from him but another person, because she was still interested in the couch. I told her we are not going back at all. We will not even consider coming back. It is hilarious that he killed any possibility of us buying. I would not recommend this store. No customer should be treated that way, especially when making a large purchase.
