Atmosphere - I have only been to one other Ikea and I did not eat there.  The place is basically a cafeteria and the tables are well spaced for COVID protection.  The line you go through to obtain your food was easy.  The line takes you right to the register to pay. Food - How can I not order the Swedish meatballs.  Okay I was informed that they are actually Turkish meatballs.  The Swedes took the recipe from Turks, thanks to Dee updating me on the story behind it.  I think after a few hundred years we call them Swedish.  I replaced the broccoli with French fries, and the whole plate was smothered with gravy.  The mashed potatoes were solid.  The lingonberries, what a fancy cranberry sauce.  I love berries, and these lingonberries were delicious.  I probably could have had another eight meatballs, but a few less calories will not kill me. Service - It is an easy system, but what do you expect from a cafeteria.  The service was flawless.  Even the return stations are clearly marked and plenty of space to place your trays on the cart. We recently moved to Arizona from California, and we visited this Ikea store today. We were amazed at how easy it was to visit the store compared to the one in Burbank that we used to go to in California. This made it very nice to navigate through the store and look at all of the displays. If you are new to Ikea, which it seems like some in Arizona may be ( judging by how empty the store was today) please do yourself a favor and check this store out. There are so many good deals that you can find for your house! I will attach a few pictures of some sample items. The employees at this particular store are extremely helpful. From the moment we walked in the door everyone was friendly and welcoming and available to answer any questions that we had about the merchandise. We ate at the restaurant and the food was very good as always. If you are not familiar with Ikea, they all have restaurants on site with extremely reasonable food prices. Impersonal service kind of goes along with a lunch counter. The food here has always been good and fresh, nothing to write home about. I had the salmon plate, and everything was as described in the menu. Not exceptional, but a pretty good lunch. There wasn't much to choose from today, but I did find some thing I like. read more

My only knowledge of Swedish food comes from this restaurant and I find it simple and delicious The store itself is so huge I'm glad they have a place to eat and once you eat here there are chances you will go back for the food. IKEA is currently under construction.. I truly wish they noted on their website or app that this location won't have too much of a variety to shop through. There were a lot of things sold out, out of place or misconstrued. I came seeking for a white Mala Dresser. It was noted in stock online & once arrived, I spoke with 5 different workers & each just reference me to go down stairs and look if In stock. Super unfortunate of the service as it wasn't expected. Everyone is usually willing to help. As for their models of the rooms and designs.. not much was put up either. And this again referencing to the under construction note. We walked through IKEA within 15 minutes & normally it will take us a good hour to browse and shop around. Just stick with ordering online at this time frame. read more

There ought to be some symmetry here. IKEA in PDX (Portland) has its own listing for its restaurant, with now close to some 100 reviews. The bustling IKEA in PHX (Phoenix), where Tempe and Chandler come together, merits its own listing for its cafe', too. After all, there are people who, believe it or not, may be more apt to go to IKEA to eat than to shop. I was in Phoenix for several days during the winter, wrestling with how dry the environment is compared to what I'm accustomed to. I went to the IKEA Restaurant 3 days in a row for breakfast. Did I go into the store? Well, I sort of passed through the back of the cash register area. And, on each of those 3 days, I had the Swedish-American breakfast for a whopping $ 2! How can one argue with this? It's better than their $1 econo-breakfast because it features the more crepe-like Swedish pancakes and the cranberry sauce to put on them. Of course, if you have the IKEA Family card, basic coffee and tea are free. It's actually pretty good. Lunch and dinner can also be had here. I did eat another meal here while in town. I saw that the bland but very tasty vegetable roulades have made a comeback! And I also stopped by for some tea, hoping that tea and honey would alleviate the congestion I was experiencing. This IKEA was close to where I was staying. The layout and feel of the IKEA restaurant is fairly boilerplate. Like any other I've ever set foot into, the restaurant is upstairs and the escalators are staring right at you as you walk in. The spartan but tidy feel of the restaurant is also similar. However, there was something different here. In the Desert Southwest, this IKEA Restaurant felt dim(mer) and/or cool with a brilliant sun raging outside. It appears the windows are tinted (or polka dotted) to keep things cooler inside and it sure makes for a more soothing environment. Customer service varied from perfunctory to very friendly. They are busy most of the time. The people watching is something else, too. There are long-time AZ residents, SoCal transplants who mentally never checked out of SoCal, ASU students, faculty, and staff, transplants from other regions of the U.S., foreigners, vacationers/snow birds, and then some, making for an "everything AND the kitchen sink" type of experience. I tend to give IKEA stores 3 stars. However, for IKEA's spiffy minimalist and nicely priced upstairs restaurant which makes for a clean and inviting place to have a meal or just some coffee or tea, IKEA Restaurants tend to be my IKEA destination and this one, like most others, would get 4 stars from me. read more

This seems like an odd restaurant to review, but the food is good and priced quite reasonably. I am totally addicted to the Swedish meatballs. The combination with the lingonberry relish (not as tart as cranberries), plus the mashed potatoes and tasty gravy is the perfect combo of comfort food. My friend had the Caesar salad, which she said was okay. At my suggestion, she also got four of the Swedish meatballs as a side dish, and liked them more than the salad. We split an apple cake for dessert. It was good, but could have benefited from a thicker apple layer. There are other entrees, including vegetarian. It's hard to beat the prices here. We love coming here for breakfast and lunch! It's very affordable and we all enjoy it. They have so many options and replacements to suit anyone's lifestyle. They also have many desserts to chose from and they're all pretty good! Their drinks are okay, nothing special. Their cola dispenses too much carbonation and it makes the soda flat. They also have high chairs for the littles and they're usually clean unless you come during a busy time. Even then they are really easy to wipe down! Make sure to grab a cart to place your trays on if you will have more then one tray. It's makes transporting to the table much easier! Overall it's a must try! read more

IKEA restaurant bounced back. Last time I was here they almost killed it with all the precautions. Now more food that we love is back in. The quality - flavor, temperature, presentation - is great. I had salmon balls and they were delightful! Just a right out of crispness on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Shopping at IKEA today and we decided to have some coffee and dessert. There were 5 of us so we tried a little of everything. Couldn't take any pics as everyone dug in while I filled my coffee mug! Heathens! We had the almond cake, chocolate layered cake, Marzipan and some raspberry dessert. Coffee was fresh and desserts were good. This review is for the Ikea Cafe, since the Ikea restaurant is currently closed. I arrived at the Cafe at 6pm, peak dinnertime, and was served the most pathetic excuse for Swedish meatballs I could imagine. 8 hard, dried out meatballs with gravy were barely edible. A tiny scoop of mashed potatoes were a bit better, and about a tbsp of lingonberries were great. The Ikea Cafe should just close like the restaurant if they're going to serve awful food like this - it's a sad excuse for Ikea's usual cafeteria food quality, staffed by half-hearted, uninterested workers who take no pride in what they're doing other than taking your money. Admittedly my meal was just $5, but my family spent over $20 there on bottled water and other very mediocre food. Ikea is really letting their side down by keeping their Cafe open during COVID and serving such garbage. Hopefully things will be better in the future, but during COVID I'd avoid Ikea Cafe food like the plague. Simply gross all around. Nowhere to eat inside or outside either, no benches or anyplace else to sit. Shame on you Ikea. We waited in line 30 minutes then trekked for 2+ hours all the way through your huge store for this? Have more respect for your customers, please. If your food is way below par throw it out, don't charge your customers for it!!! Terrible. read more
