Times are tough due to covid. I get that. But this particular Ikea is the worst I've seen. Mid-day on a Sunday and there was ONE piece of cake in the cafeteria, and no other pastry. When I inquired if they had more, I was dismissed by an indifferent employee I could tell couldn't care less. (About an hour later I checked and saw more cakes, but was past wanting any then.) The Ohio stores have many coffee options. This store had coffee. Period. Coffee, nothing else. It was barely warm. The mashed potatoes with my meal were dry on the edges and inedible. The trays in the cafeteria felt dirty to the touch. The staff in the store itself would just point over in a general direction when I asked about something I couldn't find, and pass my search off to go find someone in another department. The store was out of many of the items I'd had on my list that I'd expected to find. But it was the only store within 4+ hours drive from my house that had the one thing I needed. Ikea would be better offer properly stocking the Ohio stores, or updating this Pittsburgh store to match the quality at the Ohio stores. Based on this experience, I'll hesitate to go to this store again. And if Ikea would offer realistic pricing for shipping (they wanted over $350 to ship an item priced at $158), they'd blow amazon out of the water. read more

Ok furniture, 100% awful customer service. Repeatedly told me incorrect information and wasted my time because of it. Under their "365-day no hassle return policy," I was looking to get some furniture refunded. I called and asked if they will do pick-up refunds as my car isn't big enough for the furniture, and they told me yes, but I have to visit in store. A hassle, but fine. I arrive in store, only for the store clerk to tell me it isn't available! I have to bring it in, or no refund. It's one thing to have this be policy, it's another entirely to tell me wrong information. I call in to complain and try and get some resolution, but phone lines are "experiencing higher than normal call volume" at 2:15pm on a Monday. Serviceable furniture, absolutely horrible customer service. Be absolutely certain about what you're buying, because returning/replacing it is a goddamn nightmare. read more

The cashier scanned couple items two times , over charged about $200, normal I don't check the receipt, was checking for pick up items while waiting for food, found out total price didn't seem right. The cashier was soon realized her error and called manager come over to fix the problem, manager stop by make you feel you own him millions dollars, I wish I have check his name today. So when we wanted to update our kitchen, we shopped around and it seemed ikea had the best deal money wise and we liked the style there the best. Plus, they were having a kitchen event. The percentage we got off was given to us in the form of gift cards, OK no big deal we can use it to get other stuff for the kitchen ( yes we're aware that is why they do it). After working through some contractual miscommunication it seemed all was well and we were on our way to a new kitchen. The guys came and took down our old cabinets and started installing the new ones the first day they were there. We had our new cabinets up by Friday ( they started on monday). The countertop company ( advanced surfaces) came and measured the cabinets, we were thinking great this is moving right along. Two weeks go by and we haven't heard anything, this doesn't surprise us because the subcontractor had told us that the counter tops take some time. Three weeks go by, still no word, Friday afternoon we call the company looking for a status update. We were told that they don't call until the countertop are actually cut, that way they don't have to reschedule the install. Week four we finally heard from after getting our kitchen planner involved in trying to get an update. They called Monday to schedule for Wednesday. During this time we called the ikea store in robinson several times asking them if they had found a pantry door for us that they had promised they would try to find for us even if it meant they had to get it from another store. We called and left a message for the kitchen department we never heard back from them. On the ikea website I saw that the Conshohocken store had received 9 pantry doors in the color and size that we needed. Finally, we have been disappointed in the customer service that we have received from ikea in this process and will not use them for future projects. The subcontractors that we have been working with for the actual construction have been wonderful and truly professional. read more

I've lived in over 5 different states thanks to awesome relocation opportunities. In Pittsburgh 3 months now. Hands down this was the worst experience at an IKEA store. It was not busy, lines were not long at all. No one with the exception of Chayanne had a smiling face or provided any level of a good customer experience!! When I asked for help with a heavy item cashier pointed across the store while sipping her drink to ask someone in customer service. Four employees standing around doing nothing one of which rolled his eyes when I asked for help!! As I was walking away the "Team Lead" made a rude comment. The fish stinks from the head. Maybe a few training classes in IKEAs expectations on customer interactions is needed. I'm definitely a DeTractor!! read more

I once heard a comic say that Ikea is where relationships go to die. That my friends, is why you go to Ikea alone. When you're alone at Ikea, it's a magical world of wondering around for hours. Getting lost in the endless sea of blonde wooden things. I don't hate on Ikea. It serves a very useful purpose. It got me through college while on a budget, and still kept my apartment looking somewhat stylish. I kid you not, I had a wardrobe that traveled with me to THREE houses for around 4 years. By the third move it was practically busting apart, but it served its purpose well. It's a great place to stock up on random items too. I had an event that I needed 60 wine glasses for, and was able to buy them for around $1 a piece. You're not going to find that price at Target (although I love you Target!). I rarely get out here because it's so far, but when I do, I always cherish my time together. read more

I love this store! I could tell we found a good place when we pulled up. I saw license plates from Ohio, New York, Delaware and Maryland. If people are driving four to five hours to get here it must be the place to be. Like Adrienne L. said when we first walked in we had no idea were to go. So we just followed everyone else like cows being lead to their slaughter. LOL! Once we got up stairs all I can say was wow! This place is huge. The floor plan is laid out to get you lost in the store. You could literally spend hours in this place, which we did! I love how they have living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and dining rooms all set up and perfectly staged so you can imagine the pieces in your space. Service was good also. The restaurant was tasty as well. Like others have said you have to build the furniture yourself and you have to go to the basement of the store to find the big pieces and wheel them to the check out. And if you want bags for the items you bought bring your own or you have to buy them. WTH! I guess they're being "green". I wish I knew about this place when I lived in my tiny apartment in Shadyside! IKEA is all about tons of storage in small areas. All in all a great store. I will be back often! read more

I have spent so much time in Ikea in the last few months since I moved into my first apartment in Pittsburgh. This Ikea definitely gets packed for Pittsburgh (not like the big cities though) so be prepared to go early if you do not like crowds. I recommend looking online through the furniture and writing down all of the bin and aisle numbers. It will not only make your trip faster, but it can be hard to see everything in the store. I got the dark colored MALM bed, dresser, and nightstand, and a brown wardrobe. I also recently bought a Billy bookshelf for myself for Christmas. So really, I have spent quite a bit of time here. Everything is holding up great, and the furniture is very sleek looking. Additionally, be sure to check out the "as is" section. I got a great shelving unit thing that was already assembled at half cost. It's amazing, and I got it for a steal of a price. Assembling Ikea furniture can be frustrating, but luckily, my brother is really good at it. So I just have him assemble everything. Otherwise, I don't know if I'd love Ikea as much. Ha! The cinnamon rolls here make me the happiest camper ever. Be sure to get a box on your way out the door. The only downside is that the employees can tend to be unhelpful. The store is huge, and if bins get mixed up or things move around, they really can't help you find anything. read more

I didn't really know what to expect coming to IKEA. We came in from out of town to get furniture for my BF's office. The way you shop is confusing sorta because you have to write things down on a paper and then go find them in the warehouse, but once you figure it out it's no biggie. The best part is when you think you're done shopping and you head down to get your furniture, YOU'RE WRONG!!! There's a whoooolllleeee bunch of household things in a labyrinth that you have to walk through to get to the furniture warehouse, and it pulls you in! You just wanna shop for everything in there! You gotta stay on your A-game to not spend all your money in there! I wish that we had an IKEA in Cleveland so that it wasn't such a hike to get things, but I'm sure I'll be back because it's too cute and too inexpensive to pass up. read more

OUT OF ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. I understand a couple of colors of specifics being out but this was ridiculous. I spent hours measuring and picking things out and get to the end when I pick it all up and nothing. No stock of the option then also no stock of my backup options. I went needing 7 pieces of furniture... I left with one. So upsetting. There was also no way to have them shipped to me or ordered to my house. I've heard the food in Ikea is good but I never took advantage of going until today. I tried the vegetable balls with the lentil ragout and mashed potatoes with gravy. When I was in college, I often drove 2 1/2+ HOURS to the Mall at Robinson with my roommates or my boyfriend or just by myself, for one reason and one reason alone: to trick out my dorm/apartment with accessories from IKEA. And man, now that I'm out of college, I'm eagerly awaiting landing a good paying job so that I can make that 2 1/2 hour drive to the Mall at Robinson with my fiancee to get real furniture. IKEA is the promised land for me, and I am fully aware how lame that is. I love walking through the maze of perfectly decorated rooms and eventually straying from the path and getting lost. And then ending up in the warehouse and buying all the cheap accessories because I can't actually afford the big ticket items... And they have food. WTF? I don't trust the food. But I've heard good things about this $.99 breakfast. ALWAYS hit up the room by the checkout with the returned/slightly damaged items - I can't think of the name of it. They tempt you with the funky faux Swedish flair, the lingonberries, and those spectacular showrooms upstairs, then they induce you into a spending frenzy with all those bins of home decor and stuff downstairs. Next, you find yourself signed up for an IKEA charge card and added a few hundred dollars (or more) to your debts, and for what? Boxes of screws, wood pieces, plastics, scented tea lights, and do-it-yourself instructions that make you - the customer! - become the furniture-maker, mover, and installer. And they don't even have to pay you minimum wage to do so! You have become a slave to this particularly devious mode of multinational sweatshop production, and your local artisans and furniture people have to close their studio workshops and work for the big blue-and-yellow box stores that now circle the globe. This is my review #200. $1 meatballs (x10) on a paper plate! $1.99 meatballs (x15) on a real plate! I came to Ikea because they make storage sexy. In the design world, "sexy" should be read as "aesthetically pleasing." What a surprise to see the sign for the meatball special. Being famished, I ran upstairs to the cafeteria and got my plate of meatballs. And, yes, I ran. Ah...my hunger was sated; but back to the reason for my visit -- furniture and storage. For those of you that have never been to an Ikea, let me say that it is an experience. Think of the times you went to Epcot Center and how you would experience the events by walking through a long and looping path to get to your destination. Well, in this case, the dioramas are the furniture and the destination is the checkout. Starting on the second floor, you wind around through all of the treats that are placed along the path; when you are done with the second floor and the large commodities, you are able to experience the first floor with a shopping cart. Due to this streamlining process and continual movement, the only time I thought that the store was full was when I arrived at the check-out. Kudos to the store designers for the conveyor belt for people. While the second floor is filled with beautiful furniture, cabinets, storage, etc, I do prefer the first floor with the small items -- especially the lamp section. There is something about lamps that just awes me. They are usually made into such vibrant designs. Of course, I couldn't abstain and purchased several small, medium and large quirky lamps. I don't have a place for them, but they are cool enough that I will make a space. At the end of the figurative conveyor belt that you follow, there is the warehouse where you will find those pieces of delectably, designed furniture that you chose. Everything is numbered with aisle and bin and matches the items upstairs (hint hint to Lowes and Home Depot). I will return...I went twice this weekend. read more

This is a three star place that gets a star removed for gender discrimination. In the lobby they have a sign that points to a baby changing station. I grab my daughter and head into the men's room. Hmm. I can't find a changing station anywhere in the men's bathroom. I was a little frustrated and went to look for a family restroom that I missed. Nope. So they have a baby changing station in the women's bathroom but not in the men's restroom. Very disappointed. All in all I had to go upstairs to the family restroom by the cafe. It was a bit annoying since I had two little ones that I was hauling around. Other then that my time at Ikea was uneventful. The staff was very friendly but didn't have an answer for me. I like Ikea but I feel it is overrated as well. Hopefully they build the one in Columbus for dad's as well as mom's. read more

IKEA is definitely an experience. And it's a place to go to furnish your first apartment or are recently divorced and have no furniture. Plant pots? Yes, for sure. Busy? Way. Cheap? Uh-huh. Well staffed? Definitely. You can find groups of 3-4 employees engaged in private conversations throughout. Don't bother asking them anything - they put up the pointer-finger "pause" to their group conversation and then use the same pointer to wave in the direction that they want you to go. Wow. First let me say that I've done shopping at IKEA before and usually it's not a bad experience. You get what you pay for in terms of quality. There's a reason I went to a more expensive furniture store for my bedroom set... I just moved to town and I needed a few living room items. Couches, tv stand, coffee table, etc. I needed delivery and I'm by myself, so I needed their help picking it too. I made my shopping list online, walked into the store, and asked three people for help before the fourth was finally willing to assist. That should have been first sign. I asked if I could get it delivered same day (I walked in as soon as they opened on a Saturday) and they told me yes, then no. I asked for a Monday delivery and he told me there would be a stocking fee to keep the product warehoused for one day. We went with Sunday afternoon and here I sit, writing this review. I'm being told that my product was never picked to be delivered today, even though the delivery company called me last night to confirm delivery. They waived the delivery fees but I've been on hold for over 30 minutes now waiting to reschedule my delivery. What an inconvenience. read more

I give her 205 in cash tell her there should be 205 in cash she counts looks at me and says I count 105. Me what no let me count I get 205 She recounts no 105 So I take the money count it out on The counter for her I count 100 and I still have 20's (plural) in my hand. I count out another 100 and the remaining ones 5 of them she still looks at me like huh? Picks it up shakes her head mumbles something's about only 100 but rang us 205 in cash and the rest we paid on card. I mean WTF seriously you run a register and can't count money even when people count out in front of you. IKEA is a wonderland of treasures! I love shopping here. I love a modern, contemporary aesthetic and that's IKEA's signature. That, and being affordable. And who doesn't appreciate that? Wondering around aimlessly is part of the fun of being at IKEA to me. I enjoy checking out the way these products come to life in the staged rooms IKEA puts together. I like sitting on all the chairs, opening all the cabinet doors, touching the bath towels, smelling the candles, and any other way I can overload my senses. I've bought more home goods at IKEA than I've bought anywhere else combined. I actually like putting this stuff together. It's like a big jigsaw puzzle with vague instructions, but I've always liked puzzles. And solving the puzzle and having a new desk or bed frame to show for it is pretty awesome. read more

Man ikea, am I mad at you. This was actually the first time I made a big purchase here. Every other time has been a browsing day where I maybe bought a pillow or a small chair. I came here with exactly what I wanted already picked out and ready for the first employee to ask. So I told this helpful looking gentleman that I wanted a Queen sized bed-frame and the corresponding headboard, which he then ordered from the warehouse across the street and we drove over to get it. I gave the next guy my paper and he helped us load everything in to the car. A pretty seamless day if you ask me. UNTIL...we got home and realized they gave us a full sized bed-frame instead of the Queen. No big deal right? We just run right up there and exchange it. Maybe I should have specified that we live in Cleveland... Even at this point I wasn't all that mad. However, after spending an hour and 1/2 on hold with customer service trying to fix this issue and never even talking to a human, I was beyond livid. That's what they count on. That you will spend all that time on the phone and give up. Well congratulations Ikea, I gave up and we set up the stupid full sized bed anyway. There was no way in hell I was driving another 4 hours without even talking to someone. Who knows if I would have gotten a discount or had to pay the extra $50 for the right sized bed. When visiting Ikea, know what to expect. Don't expect the customer service to be fantastic. Don't expect that the item you have in mind will be in stock. Don't expect to be able to call them without being on the phone for at least 30 minutes. Expect it to be crowded. Expect to wait a while for help in the department you might have questions in. Take this place with a grain of salt.. that's the expression, right? Ikea is a great place to get affordable & nice looking furniture. Don't expect the instructions on how to build said furniture to be in English & or to even have the parts labeled. Expect it to be a hassle- but that's why you got a $60 tv unit that would cost $200 somewhere else. Also- Expect the weekends to be a mad house. Expect to drive around the parking lot searching for a spot. Expect the store to be incredibly crowded. If you expect these things going in, you might not be disappointed. Since moving in to my new place, I have been to Ikea probably 10 times this year. I have learned to visit during weekdays & to check online (if I have something specific in mind) to see if that item is available BEFORE I visit. Trust me.. driving all the way to Robinson to find out the tv unit you want is not in stock & won't be for another month & all you can do is be on the waiting list where they are supposed to text you/e-mail you to tell you when it's in stock but then don't, so you have to call them & be on the phone with them for 40 minutes during your lunch... it's not fun. Also, putting the furniture together without any proper instructions is also not fun. Some awesome items I have bought from Ikea at AMAZING prices include: ice cream scoop, plastic bag holders for the wall, potato masher, French press & a lamp. Our tv unit was a good price too- even with the difficult assembly. My issue with Ikea is their customer service. Like I previously mentioned, we visited around October with a particular TV unit in mind. I should have checked the availability of the item first, but I didn't. When I arrived, I saw it was out of stock & asked what my options were. We were told we could we placed on their waiting list- I would receive a text &/or e-mail when the item was in stock. A month went by, I never received the text or e-mail. I decided to check online to see if it was in stock in this location & it was. I do not live near Ikea & therefore, called them to make sure they could hold it for me, so that I wouldn't make the drive there for nothing. I was on hold for 40 minutes. Finally, they were able to confirm they would hold the item for me until the weekend, but didn't have an answer as to why I never received a text/e-mail like I should have when the item was in stock. I was given an order # and was told to go to the living room department to tell the employees my order #. I did just that- but when I informed the gentleman working that I was there to pick up an order that was being held for me, he looked at me like I was insane & stated, "What do you meeaann an order?" I replied that I had an order number & he all of a sudden knew what I was talking about. So expect all of these things & you won't be disappointed. It's a good place for cheap, affordable, decent looking furniture & other home items. I will visit again, but never without checking availability online & only during the weekdays. read more

There's really not a whole lot you can say about an IKEA--every one I've been in is pretty much the same, whether in Pittsburgh or Osaka or London. Pretty much every piece of furniture, bedding, or housewares I own comes from this place: bed, mattress, lamps, dishes, coffee press, TV stand.... you get the idea. I find myself making the two hour drive up here from Cleveland entirely too often, and even after spending $30 on gas and another $15 on the turnpike, everything is such a good value that I still feel I've come out ahead. It's always fun to wander around the showroom--perhaps too fun, as I seem to leave with far more stuff than I ever intend. Plus, cheap Swedish meatballs! Most of the stuff I've bought at IKEA over the years is consistently good quality, from dishes to dressers: not high end, but durable and reasonably stylish. Assembling the furniture can be time consuming, but I've never found it nearly as hard as everyone makes it out to be. My only real complaint about this specific IKEA location is that it's somewhat smaller than many of their other stores, and you sometimes have to drive across the street to collect your boxes because the main warehouse doesn't have enough space. Staff is helpful enough if you can find them. read more

Maybe it's the hours I have visited but this place seems a little dead. But it's still got all the great Ikea merch. There seemed to be a lot of employees standing around in the warehouse not helping me. And then, in the Marketplace there was nooooooo one to help when I needed it most. I finally found someone in another department who told me no one comes in for that particular department until 5pm. That's when you know THEY know the store is slow... Still found about a million pieces of furniture I want to buy. Anyone want to come over and put them together? I will cook you Swedish meatballs. P.S. the food store in this Ikea seems really compact and understocked, compared to the Ikea in College Park, MD where I usually go. Too bad, it was a little joyless. read more

I cannot believe how much money I have spent here since moving to Pittsburgh. This is not the largest I have been to, and I kind of like that. It's manageable. For the most part, the employees are friendly. I had a run-in with a cleaning lady who didn't want to let me use the bathroom since she was stocking it- she tried to tell me to use the one upstairs. Let me just note- 1. there are at least 8 stalls. 2. I am 9 months pregnant (and it's pretty obvious). 3. there is nothing to stop her from stocking the stalls whilst I pee. I have a HEAD on my BLADDER people. I guess she could tell by my face that I wasn't buying what she was selling because she let me in (albeit making a rude comment when I said I would go as quickly as possible.) Kind of annoying when you've just dropped a wad of cash somewhere over the past week (4 separate visits). Some cool things: there's an IKEA family card now. Not sure what the benefits are but I signed myself up! If you use a debit card, you get 1% (chintzy I know, but might as well take advantage of any discount) your next purchase. So I saved about $20, and I say I will TAKE IT. Food always yum- meatballs with lingonberries and mashed potatoes. Mmmmm. Also picked up the cinnamon rolls (6 for $4) and they were deeeelish! read more

We have been to many IKEAs in our days. And this is by far the worst. Small, and dirty everything. Food service they scooped the meatballs up with puddles of grease. The soups were all the bottom of the barrel dried up crust. The clincher was that the ice cream at the end was $1.25 rather than the usual $1! read more

After a birthday celebration at Ichiban, half of us decided to head to Ikea to look around. More specifically, my sister was looking for bed sheets and a comforter for her new bed. She had never been to Ikea. Speaking of beds, I knew ikea had bed frames but i was surprised to find mattresses for sale there. There were some around $300-400. I've always enjoyed walking through the top floor hoping to one day have my kitchen or bedroom look like the display. It's really fun to do that while at Ikea. :) I also enjoy the bottom floor and finding funky odds and ends for your home. My sister found an adorable wall clock for $10. The picture of the chocolate cake sold me. It was ok. It didn't technically look like the picture, but it did hit the sweet tooth spot. Oh, FYI, they have a little grocer section near the exit where you can find Swedish groceries. It's not huge my any means, but they do offer a good bit Anyways, another great trip to Ikea :) read more

I absolutely love ikea if I could stay there all day if I would. They have everything you need for your house and more. If you are buying your first house or in need of more furniture this is the place to go! If you can't fine a babysitter for your kids while you shop they got you covered they have free babysitting until a certain height. The thing I don't like about the babysitting thing but do understand it's the height limit...I don't want to drag my kids everywhere around they store they will touch things and put things in my cart. Another positive thing is the food the food is ok but not great wouldn't go there if it was a restaurant. Th soda machine they have works but all the sodas are off brand and taste weird so bring or buy your own drinks! If your one the road and pass buy this make sure to stop even if you don't need something you will come out will a car load of furniture! read more

This is not specifically about the Pittsburgh store but it pertains to a gift card I purchased to be used at the Pittsburgh store. I could not find any place online to review IKEA's horrific gift card "service". On November 21, 2015 I placed an online gift card order to IKEA in the amount of $1000, the largest gift card that IKEA offers. On November 22, 2015 I received notice that the card had been shipped via regular mail (no tracking despite the substantial amount of the gift card) and that it would take 7 - 10 business days, which would make the very latest delivery Monday, December 7, 2015. Because of the amount of the card I had called IKEA once or twice after December 3, 2015 to check on the status and was told that no doubt the Thanksgiving holiday was making the delivery slower than usual. When the gift card had not been delivered by Wednesday morning, December 9, 2015, I once again contacted IKEA to cancel the card and request that a new one be issued using the same credit card as an easy refund/re-issue transaction. The IKEA gift card customer service people said they have only the last four digits of my card on file in the customer service department and that I would have to go online to order a new gift card and that if I wanted tracking on the new card, I would have to pay for the postage when I placed the order and, that, furthermore it would once again take up to two weeks to be delivered, depending on which delivery option I selected. When I found out later that the card had finally been delivered on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 9, 2015, I called IKEA back to see if the card could be reactivated. The answer was "no" and that, though they had deactivated the card and supposedly issued a refund to my credit card, it might take my credit card company two or three business days to process the credit, which would bring us to Monday, December 14, 2015 at the latest. As of Friday, December 18, 2015, no refund credit had appeared on my credit card. So I called IKEA yet again and the first statement was "oh, I see you have called a number of times." Way to go IKEA! After some research it was revealed that what was supposed to be an auto-generated refund when the card was deactivated had never happened ~ "a technical glitch". I was told that the manager on duty on December 18th manually submitted the refund to my credit card company and that it would be another two or three business days to see the credit in my account ~ bringing us up to Tuesday, December 22 or Wednesday, December 23, 2015 ~ a full month after the initial order was placed. Do NOT under any circumstance ever, ever use IKEA gift card "service" ~ they are incompetent, full of excuses, and not helpful at all. I am disappointed, frustrated and disgusted. They will not be getting any of my money any time soon. read more

Kitchen staff - 5 stars Check out staff - 2 stars Management - 0 stars Saturday... 10 am opening... 1 person not only assigned to the kitchen section... she was the ONLY one in the entire store trained in how to "book a kitchen" All of the floor associates that management sent to help her when she called and told them she had a line didn't even know how to help people that needed a single hinge... or a single cabinet... so the poor clueless associate operated a second computer while the kitchen associate tried to make progress on our complete kitchen. I came to the store with every shopping list, diagram and parts list that the 3D planner would generate. I am VERY grateful that the kitchen associate took the time to double check EVERYTHING... Ikea should be ashamed of the online experience! It gives the customer the false sense of being able to create an order on their own... the number of legs was wrong (too few)... the tow kick was wrong (not enough length)... and no where did I see the option to have 2 doors on a 24" upper cabinet. The last may be aesthetic... but you would think that those kinds of design options were covered? 90 minutes were spent on "booking" our kitchen... I would hate to try and do it without the online lists. I felt sorry for the 5 other people there to "book" a complete kitchen... but I guess ~10k in business isn't enough to justify more than 1 person scheduled? Shame on the managers for not sending associates to training... and for not taking the training themselves!! The pick up process was also a mess... but given the lack of concern in even getting orders complete in a timely manner without burning out employees I guess that doesn't really matter. Send the managers to Paramus NJ... or Kent WA... or ANY OTHER IKEA!!! They need a lesson... and we need an Ikea in Ohio so we don't have to travel so far to watch a great employee try to overcome such thoughtless management. read more

I moved to Pittsburgh recently from California and furnished my new apartment here. The worst experience I have ever had with a store. They are constantly "out of stock" or "temporarily over sold" or "temporarily unavailable". Trying to get the furniture piece you want here is truly hell. I do appreciate the staff for trying to help us out and understand it's not their fault that they have no stock. But man, once all my big furniture is bought I am never coming to this IKEA again. read more

I love Ikea because they have a huge selection of items from the stuff you can customize all the way to the cheapy and it all just works. A few years ago I wanted to change up one of the bedrooms and spent a little less than $3,000 including paint and ended up with a beautiful room with blue walls, plants, rugs, art work and green accents. The malm line of furniture provided that trendy look that I was searching for and their rugs and accessories made the space pop. Perfect for a guess room, but that bed is a little too low for me and getting out of it was crazy. I swear it made me feel like I'd been running with Harriet Tubman the night before and couldn't get up out the bed. Okay, maybe I exaggerated a tad? Most recently, I got another bed from them for a room in my house and its a cute, princess like, metal frame. If you get hungry here, don't fret because they have a cafe too. Can you say cheap meal that tastes good?! I was fearful that their salmon wouldn't be good but boy was I surprised. It was flavorful and moist. The other person with me had swedish meatballs....goodness gracious they were some good balls! No really, the sauce makes them and that's all that needs to be said. Wash your meal down with some lingonberry punch and you'll be set! Yum! Will I visit again? Hecks to the yeah!!! My only warning: If you go on a Saturday, make sure you have the patience of Job. read more

First ikea trip in Pittsburgh! Parking was very easy and the map when you first walk in explains everything perfectly. This is a place you literally need to block out a few hours for it (its MASSIVE!) There is a section for food but we didn't eat there because it looked as if they were about to close down (we got there at like 730 and they were scheduled to close at 9?) It didn't seem like they had that large of a variety though... In terms of what i purchased, I ended up getting all of my glassware here, some decorative boxes, a dresser and a bar style cabinet for my dining room. Super excited to set it up! read more

I have been to Ikea many times and I have loved it and got some good deals. I have to rate this and review though based on my last experience to warn potential shoppers. Do not have them deliver your items. The price seemed great and only having a small car and an infant, the delivery seemed perfect. The delivery came on time the next day while I was at work, but my wife was there with the baby. The delivery guys could not lift the couch and chair and instead drug it across the floor and put a big scratch in our new bamboo wood floors. We called Ikea who said they were not responsible and we had to call the movers. For one, this is wrong, if they use this company for their deliveries, they should be responsible. Next, we sent the complaint to the delivery company in which we did not even ask for the full amount of the damages and they declined the claim because my wife scratched the floor moving the boxes. Keep in my mind, my wife had the baby and the boxes must have been so heavy that the two twenty something movers couldn't even lift it. In the end, the couch and chair we thought we were getting a good deal on ended up costing us a lot more since we have to repair the floor ourselves. read more

In April, I officially popped my "Ikea cherry". This was my first visit, and I am now very, VERY addicted. Upon first going in, I was in a stuppor. What? Where do you go? Up or over? Ah, Up to the show room. Then more questions: Do I just take this with me? Yeah, so I probably looked like an idiot, meh. Then to the lower level. (Ahh, this is where you buy stuff. I see... Yes there were "instructions" on the paper I had in my hand the whole time, you think I actually read it? Noooo.) I was completely elated when everything I bought added up to $30 and change. I now have more tea lights than I could ever use (read box of 100) for 4.99, I bought a HUGE wooden chopping block for 9.99, and some other stuff. read more

There's no better place in town to find affordable furniture that can blend in with just about any decor. It's not the highest quality furniture around, and the assembly will likely drive you batty, but it gets the job done. The store is set up so that you are guided through every single department. If you have time, it's worth following the flow. If you're in a hurry, however, look for barely visible doorways. It is possible to cut through several parts of the store and get what you need in a hurry. read more
