I always go to IKEA when I need some room inspiration. I love looking in the showrooms. It's such a fun place to visit and to get some steps in. I will say the prices are increasing and I'm not sure how to feel about that. Still my go to if I need something quick. Now the food, I feel has declined. The last few times I went my food has been cold or looked like it has been sitting out all day. Why are tenders and fries $12.99 now? They used to be $5.99. Even the meatball meal is insanely priced. I will probably skip the food even though that was my favorite part. Other than that if you need something quick and easy to assemble, ikea is the way to go. read more

It's Ikea....you go knowing what to expect. It's bright, big and inspirational. I like it....it's a fun store. Truly so many ideas! We went for only 1 thing and we found it but we still spent over an hour in the store. We did self check out with no problems, the store is clean and there were employees everywhere. At one point I was looking around and an employee asked me if I needed help. That's awesome. The only employee I remember is Anthony and he was very nice. He was in front of the restaurant near the bed giveaway. I could definitely get in trouble in this store.....I almost wish I had another house to decorate. Or maybe just another room. I had a great experience at IKEA. I have been looking for some ways to organize my space. There were all types of bins and baskets. I really like their black silverware and bought a set. It is good quality! Prices are reasonable here. Staff is friendly. I stopped by the dining area and got a refreshing lingonberry drink. There's several displays throughout the store. I like that they give you ideas on how to decorate a space. The store can be confusing, but there are maps to show you how to get out. They don't have free bags, but you can purchase reusable bags at checkout. There's also 2 restaurants inside if you want to dine there. They sell items that they cook in the cafeteria as well in the frozen section. Crepes, potato cakes, meatballs and etc. It's a cool store, and prices are pretty reasonable. Check them out! read more

You literally could get lost for hours just wandering around this oasis of home and garden needs... so beware! They have a cafeteria on premise to help stave off any potential problems with being hangry. They offer an excellent selection of healthy and not as healthy choices in fare. While they have everything you could possibly ever need or not, you would do well to search for deals among the voluminous offerings throughout the place. Alas, they did away with the member perks. I think if you have visited one IKEA, you have visited them all - at least in terms of story layout and organization. Of course, the service can differ from one IKEA to the next. Having visited this IKEA on a few occasions, I can say that I never had a problem with customer service. Although things are fairly easy to find, I highly recommend purchasing big items online and just picking them up when they are ready. I say this because the store can get a bit crowded especially on weekends, near the 1st of the month (a time when folks are moving) and the beginning and end of the school year. In terms of quality, I think most of IKEAs products are reliable for the price, and they some interesting pieces of furniture. In the years of visiting this store and other stores, I do not think that I've ever had a problem finding what I needed or something close to what I needed. read more

I love going to IKEA! Even if I don't actually buy what I came for, I still have the best time just wandering through the displays. Everything is so cute and makes me want to completely redo my home decor whenever I go. I ordered a few things from IKEA online in the past (before the store was built), but seeing everything in real life makes such a difference. You get a much better feel for the size and quality which is super helpful. That being said, while the furniture is at a lower price, you do get what you pay for. Some of the furniture will show wear and tear after a few years, especially if you move a lot. But I've also had some pieces that have lasted quite a while, so it really depends on what you get and how you take care of it. I was at this location on Sunday after church and It was also the first time I've experienced micro aggression as a person of color. Two of the workers repeatedly asked their manager to help me with a situation that took 30 minutes but could've taken 5 with his help. His first excuse was he had to help another customer that's pretty understandable second was he needed to make the schedule. My last straw was when another white male like himself walked in he wasted no time to help him. While I was still waiting for the two nice ladies to help me, they ended up figuring out after about 30 minutes of this "manager" watching us all look confused when he knew the answer but however I still kept my composure and I'm only writing this review to help this manager understand that all customers no matter there race deserve respect :) read more

It's been a while since my last review of IKEA, despite having shopped there on multiple occasions. They have a great selection of decent quality furniture for the home or office, especially today with people who work from home and have established the Home Office. If you follow the instructions, you should have no problem building your cabinet, table, etc. That they come in boxes makes it easy to get it into your vehicle. I have always had very satisfying with the quality of the items that I have purchased from IKEA. I wish that I carts here would catch on elsewhere, I really like the 4 wheel independent wheels. Unlike the ones in most grocery stores, you can spin the cart 360 degrees without a problem. It can take a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, you'll be hooked... read more

No signs the kids' section was closed, yet an employee named Aisha handled it by aggressively kicking chairs near our table and loudly complaining instead of speaking to us directly. We were still looking for infant/toddler beds at IKEA. Since we happen to be in Norfolk this week we decided to try the IKEA in the Norfolk area. Success! We got what we were looking for, good quality, reasonable price and sheets to boot. It turns out this is one of the largest IKEA in the nation (huge parking lot and two story parking). Ordered an item online and it was due to be shipped 2 weeks later. Get a message the day of saying the item will not be delivered, due to store not having it pulled and ready for the driver. The prices are twice what they were two or three years ago. The restaurant has no salads, no appetizers. ONE frazzled overworked employee is handing out meatballs or salmon. She also loads ovens and puts out garlic bread. It is amazing how friendly she still is! The restaurant reminds me of cafeterias in socialist countries: empty shelves! The store had ONLY self checkouts with just ONE overworked employee to help customers. This is not the IKEA I have known since childhood. I won't be coming back. read more

I have a love hate relationship with IKEA. Sometimes I love them, sometimes I don't! Remodeling my office and needed a new desk. So we came Memorial weekend (twice). Found most of what we needed and ate at the restaurant as well. The food was surprisingly better this time around. Everything tasted great. But a cabinet that we picked out was not great at all. This IKEA is located on IKEA Way, just off of Northampton Blvd a little west of the interchange with I-64 (Exit 282). The place is not hard to miss as it's a pretty big place. They also have a parking garage on site. We parked in regular parking though as it was a good weather day. There are electric charging stations there as well for electric cars. This was the first time I have been to an IKEA and this visit was on February 15, 2022. Just looking at the place from the outside before going in, it looked like a really big building, so I was definitely interested to see what they might have to offer there. As you come in, they have a sign about wearing masks inside, but it is not enforced, though all staff were wearing masks. After getting inside, there is a large map to the left before the escalator. You can pick up a paper map and a pencil to write notes or items of interest. This adventure begins by going up an escalator to the upper level, which is the showroom portion of the store. The showroom is set to go essentially one way due to the pandemic. The showroom showcases the various rooms of the house, such as living areas, kitchens, bedrooms, etc. There are "short cuts" where you can move to another part of the showroom without going through other sections. At the end of the showroom on the upper level, there is a restaurant/cafe there as well. It was too early for them to be open when I was there. After that, the next stop is to go back down to the lower level either by stairs or elevator. Once you get down to the lower level, this area is the marketplace. At the end of the stairs to the left, you can trade the bag you may have used on the upper level for a shopping cart. One note about the shopping carts is that they can glide along the floor here and you can really feel it when trying to make a turn with the cart; it's almost a slip and slide on wheels. The bottom level marketplace is the main reason for the visit here. You can find just about anything here for the categories they have in this marketplace (kitchen, bath, lighting, etc.). The products that they had were really good, and they were cheaper than finding similar items at other places, without sacrificing quality. At the end of the marketplace area, you'll go down the path and turn left to where you can see the registers. On this visit, all the registers except one were self check out. I wanted to share some other overall observations while visiting IKEA. You can see they definitely have a vision of sustainability for items and being thoughtful to our planet. They have various signs about how they help the planet and how we can too. I have some photos of those included with this review. Overall, this was a very good first experience with IKEA. I had heard about the place, but this was the first time I went to one. I like how they have the paths set up, so it makes it easy to go through and take advantage of shortcuts to get to the marketplace faster too. Since I was here on a Tuesday, it wasn't busy and was pretty easy to navigate. My mom found lots of things she was looking for and I actually found a few things too. We had a full cart, but the final total would end up being under $100. If you've never been to an IKEA or are thinking about it, it is definitely worth checking out. Did you know IKEA is a non profit? Welp, now you do. This location is great. Just off the highway. Parking is convenient as well. The dining area is still getting back on their feet from COVID. We have had an off time here and there with dining. Staff has always been extremely helpful, especially in that warehouse section where you would grab product. I love their clearance section where the cashier are. The bathrooms have always been very clean. I have to always remind myself to checkout IKEA if I need Homegoods and furniture. read more

Before this location opened I had NEVER been in an IKEA. These stores were LORE. IKEA people speak IKEA and I was on the outside. Now that it is finally here it is exciting. I haven't made a ton of visits but I've been a few times. Pre-pandemic I liked coming to redeem my birthday goodies. I've eaten innate restaurant a few times and my fave was always the vegetable balls. So glad I found out that they sell them in grocery section. I've also purchased a few small items, random inexpensive items that are a great deal. I've also gotten a few small furniture items. How how I love you IKEA. I've been a few times since COVID started and that has been significantly more stressful than previous visits, but the prices made the trips worth it when I needed something for my home... okay it was mostly plants. This IKEA just opened two years ago and it's already hard to imagine Coastal VA without it. I love that they have a cafe too- the food is great for the price- I love the meatballs and chocolate cake. The cafe is where I felt the most comfortable with their COVID precautions. IKEA has a specific flow that you are required to follow and they are extra strict about it during COVID - which means there is no such thing as a quick trip to IKEA. That can be a pain sometimes if you're just wanting a few small things... or just some plants which are in the very back of the store. read more

I like the store. I've only been twice & each time it's been packed. I went today, 9/3/20, because I needed a desk or a table that could act as one for work. Their website said it was available yet when I got there at 11:30 am, they only had the top of the table available. So, I was forced to buy a more expensive table to make it work. It's like all of a sudden, IKEA ran out of ALL their desks and chairs. It's unbelievable. They are completely sold out. My cashier today was very slow & took a lot of time talking to the man in front of me. When it was my turn, she barely spoke. That was fine because I was ready to go. I wanted to be in and out because there was way to many people there already just a little after they opened. The store was clean & it's easy to find what you're looking for as long as you have the aisle and bin #s. The floor staff are willing to help you if you have questions. I came in with my spouse on a weekday afternoon. IKEA has a wonderful layout to view many different furnishings in different settings. Definitely the best showroom we have ever seen. I meaaaan, how can one not love IKEA?! From the furniture to the food, IKEA is always worth a visit. My most recent visits have been for decorating my outdoor area. My mother did a lot of ordering from Northern Virginia & there was quite the discrepancy with availability -- on her end something would be available at this location, but upon arrival at the store it was out of stock for months. Though, she was able to order things online and I could pick them up within days. Their pick up area gets pretty busy. Use the QR code to let them know that you're there. It says they'll bring it right out to the car, but you'll probably have to step out and listen for your name to be called. Obviously good prices and nice employees. read more

This entire situation has gone beyond ridiculous. I trusted IKEA to accommodate my order and complete the transaction of my kitchen. We met several times, confirmed that the order could be delivered, would be delivered, and that if I used the delivery service that ALL items on my list would be available. I then paid the amount of the invoice with that trust in place. I have placed about 7 phone calls to IKEA, and have spoken with multiple persons who are unable to assist in any way. This is so absurd that it bears a full scale evaluation and case study by anyone at IKEA who may be remotely interested in figuring out how to really mess up a customer order. I still do not have but two small boxes delivered by FedEx a day late, on December 29. What is going on? And why can IKEA NOT assist? No one can. Every single phone call is met with the same set of confusion as if talking to robots in a different language. BACKGROUND The order has been delayed for over 3 weeks. I have placed multiple calls. I have paid $10,000+ for a complete kitchen that was supposed to have been delivered on December 30, 2024. Today is January 22, 2025. Each call to a customer service representative results in two different stories. 1. The items are not all available. 2. The delivery company is delayed. The delivery company called me to deliver one time on a date that was not even scheduled. I was not home. This has ceased to be appropriate, or truthful, or even sane. What is going on? Why cannot IKEA be honest? Manage this order? Report the situation accurately? Locate my order? Get the $10,000 in materials to my location? Redirect the order? Allow me to pick it up? Solve this situation? I have a completely gutted kitchen ready for the cabinetry and all associated parts. IKEA has no idea what's going on. Can anyone assist? Ikea is the kind of place you visit in 1 of 2 mindsets - you either have a lot of time you need to kill and can wander around aimlessly, or you have limited time, a defined mission and you just want to get in and get out. My first experience with Ikea was the former and was just after the pandemic hit. At that point, there were very few people in the store and my husband and I could take our time (well, as much time as a baby would allow) and browse the displays and products. This weekend we occupied the latter mindset. We were simply going to get ideas for our kitchen reno and some storage solutions. There were far too many people (most of whom did not know how to wear a mask), and we used as many shortcuts as possible. To their credit, Ikea has quite a few sanitizer stations throughout. They have signs and markers on the floor for distancing, but people just don't follow directions - not Ikea's fault. The store itself is a little frustrating. Unless you carefully look at the signs for the printed shortcuts, you will wander.. and wander... and wander through every department that you don't need to. This is pretty brilliant on Ikea's part - I'm sure they snag a lot of impulsive buyers with this method. They have sales associates stationed throughout the store to assist with purchasing larger pieces and furniture. Toward the checkouts, they have self-service aisles where you can pick out items. For some of the larger stuff, they have a large drive-up area where associates will assist you load. I like Ikea's philosophy on sustainability and the overall concept - we've purchased a few small pieces for our daughter and some odds and ends for ourselves. It's great for budget-minded renovations if you keep in mind that you're getting what you pay for when it comes to furniture. read more

The store itself was very nice. Upstairs is the show room and the cafeteria, downstairs is the "store" part. One thing I didn't realize is upstairs is just for ideas, not picking up things. You look at the tag and then when you go downstairs you go to that department and pick up the item you saw upstairs. They had SO MUCH stuff I liked! I can see where you could easily rack up a bill buying small stuff. BUT all so cute! Store was neat and tidy. Everyone was nice and helpful Cafeteria is clean. The food, its meh. When the store opened I knew I wasn't going anywhere near it for a few months and then a year passed like nothing! It's huge, my first time here I spent 4 hours roaming around and browsing everything, it wasn't during COVID times so I was able to really enjoy all that they had to offer. I love that you can find pretty much anything you need in this store, and a bunch of things you had no idea that you needed until you see them. The prices are really great - you can get almost anything you need for a great deal - and then you can find stylish and simple furniture and decor on the second floor by room and need and style. It's a wonderland. They also have kitchen remodeling options like new cabinets, countertops and appliances. Usually, like not pandemic, there is a large dining hall upstairs that serves tons of Sweedish food options that look yummy. They sell several items downstairs by the registers too for you to take home from frozen goods to canned and baked items. Today, I stopped in for two things specifically for storage in my garage and to use my $10 birthday coupon and free frozen yogurt. Ended up leaving with about 25 items, but I needed them all.... Can't wait to come back - every time I come I have such a good time looking and browsing and seeing all the cool stuff that I'm in a great mood for hours. read more

Visited on a blazing hot Saturday around 11a during Covid. To recap: family of 6, outside wearing masks in July Summer heat, literally waiting in line to give someone money, physically distancing from other would be shoppers suffering the same fate. Smh. Frugal chic contemporary furniture and home goods at reasonable prices. Lots of parking and warehouse square footage to explore. It can be overwhelming but just breathe and ask an employee for help. PRO TIP: research essentials ahead of time to determine what's in stock before visiting. Get measurements and pricing, then confirm at pickup. As it turns out, I escaped the long checkout lines with only 2 impulse buys on top of what I came there for: home/office restating and organization. Mission accomplished, 90 minute trip and under $270 for having functional space. read more

So if you're a member of IKEA's loyalty program, for your bday they send you a 10$ coupon (they'll also send you a free cake coupon with the purchase of an entree). So faithfully like a crazy person I go and stroll around looking for nothing but leaving with everything (this time it was my daughter as she's remodeling her bedroom and bathroom). But as a part of my trip there, hours of walking and looking I treat myself to their veggie dog (which is made of kale, lentils, quinoa, onions and wheat protein) topped with pickled cabbage, spicy mustard (tastes like a slightly tangier Chick-fil-A honey mustard) and crispy onions. Listen I know... reading the ingredients one might be taken back, like oh naw I'm good but listen when I say the flavors marry so well and it's literally an explosion of flavors! The texture might throw you off but the tartness of cabbage and mustard with the crunch of the onions... I could legit eat one everyday. Uggh.
