I wanted him to complete the walkthrough and confirm that he was comfortable with the price he had given me before I made any payments. Ultimately, I decided to go with another contractor who had already completed the walkthrough and verified the price. I informed this contractor that I had chosen someone else because their schedule was a better fit for me, and I thanked him for his time. I made sure to communicate clearly so that he wouldn't waste a trip and to ensure I was respectful of his time. Unfortunately, instead of responding professionally, he chose to insult me by calling me a "dumbass."
