    Veggie dog for one
    Stephanie G.

For a quick and cheap snack, the Ikea cafe (the one selling the snack items - coffee, pop, frozen yogurt, cinnamon buns etc) was always a no-brainer place to stop if I was in the area for a $1 frozen yogurt or $0.75 hotdog (used to be $0.50!!). Recently they've introduced a veggie dog and I decided to give it a try. It wasn't a tofu or hotdog look-alike kind of veggie dog but was actually a mix of lentils, quinoa and vegetables. It was dressed with pickled cabbage, a sweet mustard and fried onion bits which is something like you would get at a fancy hot dog stand! For the same price as a regular hot dog, I don't mind the veggie version. I really only wanted to highlight the veggie dog from here and I'm interested in trying the other newer veggie options in the Ikea restaurant (the eatery in Ikea that serves the meals).

    I'm not above it!

For what it is, yep, 5 stars. Cafeteria style meal before I go into the maze that is Ikea. Meatballs all the way. Pair that with a glass of red, and you're all set for some home decorating and spending way more than what you were budgeting for. Love it.

Here for the food. The food court is nice and big and the food is always good and super cheap too. Highly recommend it.

Afterwards we had some of the plant based strawberry ice cream and frozen yogurt for dessert. I did a search on Google and discovered that the gravy for IKEA's poutine is vegetarian so I might try ordering the poutine myself next time. Although...truth be told, it wasn't the most appetizing looking gravy so...maybe not. Cilantro...my mortal enemy. There was cilantro in the couscous that came with my falafel balls. the falafel balls were just OK. Nothing to write home about. The couscous probably would have been decent if there hadn't been any cilantro in it. Uggghhh...why would anyone put cilantro in couscous? Why would anyone put cilantro in anything for that matter? (That second question is coming from the cilantro hater in me) The frozen yogurt and plant based ice cream were the highlights in my opinion. Daughter was satisfied with her poutine though and I heard no complaints about the garlic bread so...OK rating but if I were judging on my own personal meal (which I really really didn't like because of the cilantro), this would be a lower rating.

I got the FÖLJSAM oven dish glass 9.6" x 9.6" for only $3.99 and the PRICKIG microwave lid for $1.49. I would love it if it came with a lid option as well. After taking the glass dish home, I noticed a long scratch at the bottom of the dish, so I had to go back to the store to exchange it. I found that most of the stock in store, unfortunately appeared to have minor blemishes. The microwave cover has holes on the top to help steam food better. I was worried this might be an issue with food splatter, but so far no issues yet. My old microwave cover that I bought from somewhere else had a handle at the top. However, Ikea's does not, and I find that at times it can be harder to get a good grip on the cover. Both products are a great deal, but have some things that I would like to see improved.

Jysk Linen 'n Furniture - Bought "brand new" sheets.... I think not.

Since they had…read morea bedding set that closely resembled mine, I was hopeful of finding coordinating sheets. If not coordinated at least a close color match for the red. Unfortunately, they carry ONE set of sheets in red and they're only available in one size - queen! The majority of draperies were either black, grey, white, or blue. A few panels in purple and one burgundy; all being over 84" long! Deciding to take the easiest option the drapes were skipped and a set of black microfiber sheets were purchased. The girl at the register said explicitly, "absolutely no returns, refunds, or exchanges on bedding once the package has been opened". That should have been a warning to not buy them. Got home and put my new sheets into the machine (cold water, gentle cycle), then low setting tumble dry. Every stitch has tightened causing the edges to gather and one pillow case literally feel apart at the seams; can't be used at all. They're so thin you can see through them and any softness they had is long gone. Better quality sheets could have been purchased at their big box competition for a far better price. That's the first time I've been to JYSK in over a year, simply because a location was not convenient. The quality of product has plummeted to a level unmatched by any other local retailer and, based on the policy, they are well aware of that fact. Never, ever again!

I learned this was the last of the Swedish Thursdays for the summer and that they had changed up their menu since my last visit over a year ago. The fish n chips have been replaced with cod balls and chips and they added falafel balls with couscous. The line up for this promotion was very long circling all the way around to the stairs but they managed it well. We opted for three items: the meatballs, the falafel balls and the cod balls. The presentation of each was great, especially the falafel balls and couscous. I was not a fan of the cod balls. The star of the meals was the falafel...tasted great with the couscous and garlic aioli. It was a positive food experience.

They are 47 pounds each. I only weigh 100 they text you first thing in the morning to let you know when their ETA is. Kitchen items, decor, small furniture, craft items, books, and general bric-a-brac are waiting to be found here. They also have an impressive selection of antiques and vintage items, and I found their prices to be very reasonable although definitely higher than your typical thrift shop. I was also impressed that HOB Too is so used to serving their regular customers, they immediately recognized me as a new customer! One of the volunteers on duty that day even came over to say hi, introduce herself, and see what I thought of the shop. We ended up talking for several minutes.
