It's been ages since we've been to an IHOP. We were prompted to go this morning by a birthday deal Dan got in mail. I am so glad he got that $10 off card because we didn't realize what we've been missing just a few blocks from our house. The best part of the breakfast experience was the friendly service we got from Jamaun. He went above and beyond. We never sat waiting to catch a server's attempt. He was extremely attentive and we enjoyed his energetic and outgoing personality. We were pleased to see a senior menu, which we ordered from. We both chose the eggs, meat, and pancakes breakfast. Dan got bacon and I got sausage links. I love bacon as much as anyone, but when I have pancakes, I have to have sausage because it tastes so good with maple syrup. I wasn't disappointed. The eggs were cooked just as we requested, over medium. Everyone knows what an IHOP looks like. We haven't been to one in years, but this one looks like the ones we ate at years ago. They are clean, comfortable, and look like diners. I enjoyed looking at their signs for food specials, particularly their IHOPPY hour from 5 to 8. The prices are $4 for selected appetizers and $6 to $8 for selected entrees. I am glad Dan received the birthday offer because I found enough I like about IHOP to want to go back.

Decided to stop by and have a breakfast date, our server was a very cheerful woman who definitely made an impact to our day today. She was happy and energetic for it only being 8:30 (not too early but still!) she made sure we were comfortable and even recommended topping options for our eggs, food wasn't a long wait, and honestly after not going to an ihop for a while, I was very pleasantly surprised to taste a nice warm breakfast that doesn't leave me feeling bloated

Dan got the Mathis burger, which is a mixture of sausage and ground beef with jalapeños, fried onions, and cheese. I got the bacon cheese burger, and we ordered home made fries to split. About 15 minutes after we ordered, they told us they were out of homemade fries, so we got curly fries instead. The food wasn't bad but just not wonderful as I expected. The service wasn't bad but we did have to stand at the counter awhile before they could take our order. They told us they were out of homemade fries at least 15 after we placed the order, and they took our order to the wrong table. Shortly after we started eating, we heard someone else order homemade fries. I don't know if they got more homemade fries in that short amount of time or if that man had the same experience we did. The decor was unique. The restaurant is set off from the furniture store with a row of chairs, which customers can sit on if the tables are full. I enjoyed glancing at the furniture and wondering if we might want to do some redecorating. Something we really liked were the prices. Restaurant prices have skyrocketed this year. Not only are the burgers priced right, but they serve breakfast at last year's prices. I'm tired of paying around $15 for bacon, eggs, and toast. Next time we want to go out for breakfast, we are going to try Hardens. I'm bumping the review up from 3 stars to 4 just because of the price. It's a good value.

My wife summed up the meal and wrote the review with one short sentence. As she wadded up her napkin and threw it in the empty burger basket she said, "That was a damn good burger!" My opinion, the burgers and fries at Harden's are as good or better than most offered in Tulsa. Better than many I have had, that were rated as the best in Tulsa. (Excluding charburgers, charburgers are a different animal) We had cheeseburgers and the homemade fries. Big juicy patties flawlessly cooked on the flat top. The fries were perfect. Most restaurants don't prep their potatoes properly for homemade fries. The result, within minutes after serving you end up with a soggy, limp greasy fry. Harden's does it right. The large thick lightly coated fries stay crisp. The crunchy patches of potato skin add flavor to the already excellent potato sticks. The furnishings of the restaurant are immaculate and expansive. The styling is extensive and varied, ranging from contemporary to relaxed modern. Decorative art, colorful floor coverings, attractive lamps and vases complement the furniture. Grab your burger basket and drink, wander around until you find a comfortable couch or recliner. If you like to eat in bed, they are available. Whatever you like, put your feet up kick back and enjoy the meal!!

We went on a Thursday afternoon at 4:00, so we didn't expect it to be busy. There were a few people there but not a bunch. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and shown to a booth. Our waitress brought our menus and silverware right behind the hostess. She asked if we knew what we wanted to drink and I ordered Decaf Coffee. My wife deferred to later once she knew what she was going to eat. The coffee arrived a few minutes later and I placed my order for the Belgian Waffle, 2 eggs scrambled, Hash Browns, and 2 Sausage Links. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and a side of biscuits and gravy and regular coffee. First before I forget, I am somewhat of a portly fellow. I carry about 70 pounds more than my doctor likes, and it's all right above my belt. Remember that the hostess put us in a booth, which usually is a challenge for me, because of my extra tire that I carry. But I was pleasantly surprised that this booth was spacious. It had plenty of room for us extra large folks without trying to move the table. The coffee, was good. Remember that I drink decaf coffee, so when I say it was good, thats saying a lot. I even asked the waitress if she had forgotten and brought me regular coffee and she assured me it was decaf. When the food arrived, I was so impressed by how good it looked, I forgot to take a photo, so the attached photo shows what was left when I was full. The waffle was the main thing I was after. I love waffles, and it's hard to find a good waffle. The menu claims they are Belgian Waffles, and I cannot disagree. They tasted like the Belgian Waffles I had in Paris, so I believe they are. The has browns normally don't rate a mention, but these hash browns were soft and not crunchy, and tasted like I expected hash browns to taste, from the first bite to the last. The eggs were scrambled well, which I would have preferred loose, but that's my fault for not specifying. I also ordered link sausage which was cooked as it should be. Next time I'll order bacon. The reason I avoided the bacon is that most places either burn it or leave it partially raw. Based on how the rest of my meal was cooked, I expect the bacon will be cooked right. I'm looking forward to my next visit already.

I was expecting the sauce to be very sweet, but it was not, it had a spicy, garlic, and light flavor which popped really well with the salmon and shrimp. I loved the carrots as they were very soft and a little sweet. Overall our meals were so good. I love that the staff allowed us to relax and talk after eating. We did not feel rushed at all.

Ordered a 16oz ribeye, Cesar salad, and a cup of chili. The salad came to me before the rolls, which unfortunately the rolls were dense and doughy. Before I finished the salad they brought the chili. No problems so far. A little weird the chili didn't come with the steak. The steak however, was awful. It was well done on the outside of the cut and blue rare on the inside. It was also tough and stringy, like they pulled a frozen steak out of the freezer and tried defrosting it in the microwave before putting it on the grill. I admit when asked by one of the bartenders if everything was ok, I lied and told her it was, because I knew a refire would probably yield the same results. The one star is for Amy, who was a very nice bartender, as we went through all the beers that this restaurant didn't have, otherwise I would have given no stars. Sad.

I wasn't familiar though with the lunch or dinner. Well, I've been missing out. I tried the Apple Barrel Tower, which is a consortium of treats to activate the pallet! Onion rings, jalapeño poppers, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and fried mushrooms!! What a way to start!! It's served with marinara sauce which is fine but I prefer ranch with this sort of thing. It was a LOT and I couldn't eat it all, even with help from my kiddo! I still had an entree coming!! I'm a CFS snob and refuse to order one if I even think it comes from a box. This is Oklahoma after all and a staple of ours!! The chicken fried steak here is hand breaded and NOT overflowing with 4" of extra crispy stuff to make it look bigger than what it is. We had JNCOs for that in the 90s, I don't need a culinary version of that on my CFS!!! The meat was tender, breading crispy and the gravy really brought it all home! I opted for Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes which were also yummy, smooth and even better with the gravy. I tried one bite of all three on my fork at the same time and it was good, but I preferred them enjoyed separately. No complaints from me here! Oh! I forgot to mention this also came with a side salad, and yes, like the thick blooded Okie I've become, I also had it with ranch. The salad was good and tasty, but didn't wow me. That's okay to, it's a side salad, not really meant to be the star of the show. The kiddo, at lunch time opted for a single chocolate chip pancake. Normally I'd protest that but it's summer break and she only asked for one, no sides, because she knew we'd share the appetizer tower. I can live with that I suppose!! Also to note, I got great service. I caught the name of my server, but me being miserable at remembering names, I forgot. She did a great job though and that makes for a good dining experience.
