Very warm welcoming atmosphere, food is always good and the staff is always welcoming!

Went to IHOP with a few friends this morning. The place was cleanly and well lit. The music was not too loud overhead. Our server was very friendly and made the experience that much better. The food came out quickly. We all enjoyed it very much! It was delicious and hot when it came out. I had an omelet and it was super good. I'd definitely get it again. Did you know the Wabash Ave IHOP has space for parties? My youngest grandbaby had his first birthday party there. It was a party of 16 family and friends. The setup provided the ability to visit with each other without annoying other people outside of our party. The service was exceptional. The food was hot and fresh. Look. You know what you're getting here. Nobody wants to go to IHOP, but sometimes you don't want to wait 30 minutes for a good brunch spot; the kids are screaming, "We want pancakes!! We want pancakes!!!" and you just cave in because the thought of making pancakes on a Sunday morning after a 60 hour week makes you wish you had a smaller garage to leave your car running in. The tables are sticky. The cushions move around like a piece of driftwood in the ocean. Your waitress will get the order wrong and not really care, and at that point, you don't really care because you're just happy they actually came back to your table. After a sugar and meat-filled meal, you'll feel gross, but that's OK because you did something today. You're a good parent. The best item I had was the water it was nice and cold very refreshing. My breakfast was horrible hash browns were like chips and the omelette tasted like some 'twas t fresh like it was starting to go bad I only stopped because I was traveling and wanted breakfast and IHOP usually is a good choice . By far my favorite Ihop to visit. Food is always quick and the staff is normally very friendly. A couple mistakes in orders here and there but they are very quick to fix them for you. I would definitely recommend this establishment. Especially late at night! read more

My experience relative to other raters was excellent. I walked in and was immediately seated by a friendly host who brought my husband and me, coffee and water because our dedicated server was on a quick break. The server was kind and efficient. I love how they always have coupons or promotion specials. The egg white omelet was very good, I would suggest adding something else to it. The raspberry tea has great flavor. I did try the burger last time just to see if it was worth all the hype. The buyer was pretty decent for a pancake place. My favorite pancakes are the cinnamon ones I don't even use syrup on them. I also like the blueberry ones with the pecan syrup. Service has never been bad but it can be hit or miss from decent to ok. read more

I arrived Springfield very late last night (midnight), to visit family.. and I had not eaten all day. I chose this IHOP located on Wabash to eat dinner, and I was very pleased with the following details below: 1. I was greeted by the lone waitress (Mrs. Amber F.) with a warm smile and welcome. She was very attentive to my food order, and my request. 2. The lone cook/chef (Mr. Cortez F.) was also extremely friendly and had welcomed me very warmly. 3. The meal (grilled-chicken with spinach and green-peppers) was freakin DELICIOUS... and I slept good last night because of it :-) 4. What a wonderful revelation upon my probe of questions... to discover the cook and waitress are actually a married couple for 21-years!! Food was delicious, service was good, restaurant, including bathrooms were clean and tidy. Nice family atmosphere. Lots of choices on the menu. Wow, it's so disappointing to have one of my previous restaurants go so far downhill. I made an order online, with an ETA of 6:01pm. I then go to the restaurant to pick up my food at said time. I get there, wait five minutes and speak with someone and he said they're backed up and haven't made my food yet but would do so then. He said 10 minutes. I was disappointed but what can you do? So I waited and waited and waited some more. 30 minutes passed and I get up approach the host station and the same server comes out and tells me they haven't started my food but could do so now? Obviously I was pretty upset and explained that I didn't mind waiting but honesty was important. The server argued back that, "this is the restaurant industry now!!" My daughter and I went to enjoy some brunch. I ordered a T-bone steak breakfast my daughter ordered the breakfast sampler. Our waitress brought out all of my food and my daughter waffle to he sampler. I had to send my tbone to get cooked longer and they still had not brought the rest of my daughter sampler out. I had to ask the waitress about the rest of my daughter's meal and she asked me what was it that she ordered again?! I had to repeat it to her she brought the rest of the sampler out and I asked for something for the inconvenience, like two pancakes or something. She stated she would have to charge me for it. The manager came over and said the same thing the waitress said. I was not able to get discounted for her having to wait on most of her meal. It cost absolutely nothing to apply a 10% discount for this inconveniences. read more

Unfortunately, horrible visit yesterday. Waitress took order ok, over 25 minutes later we stated had an appointment to make, please check on our food. Food came a minute later cold. I had coffee cup at edge empty she never asked if I wanted a refill. I had to go seek her out in waitress station to get a cup of coffee after being there for 30 minutes one cup of coffee. We waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged then the hostess took another few minutes before asking how many in our party. She sat us at a table that was not washed down. The waitress never came. A bus boy brought us coffee, one coffee cup had food stuck to it and on the rim. They said they were out of orange juice, odd for a breakfast place. After sitting for a few minutes we had to ask the bus boy for cream and sugar. After being in our booth for 15 minutes the waitress finally came to greet us and take our orders. The food was decent, French roast was luke warm but good. Had to remind waitress about milk with breakfast and remind her twice for syrup, more coffee and salt and pepper. The staff seemed disorganized and ill prepared to provide service. The idea of a minimum wage of $15 for people is a joke especially with service like this....I will not return to this establishment. read more

I just had the worst omelet I have had in 56 years. I ordered a garden omelet to be made with egg beaters. They were out of egg beaters so they used egg whites. What breakfast place runs out of eggbeaters on a Monday afternoon? The first omelet came out without any vegetables inside and just a few sprinkled on the top for a garnish. The next one came out with just a few more chopped veggies but was so greasy I couldn't eat it. This omelet was oily, buttery or slick from melted cheese, totally opposite from the healthy omelet I expected. The waitress argued with me saying it was not oil, it was water from the mushrooms. I explained I was 56 and knew the difference between water and oil so then she said it was butter not oil. I decided talking to her was a waste of breath so paid and left. I had heard this IHOP had trouble due to slow business and now I know why. Bad cooks/recipes and waitresses who argue with customers and don't try to make the dining experience right. I just got scammed for $14.11 for toast, 2 links of undercooked sausage, a soda and an omelet that wasn't edible. I paid for the meal, but no tip for a waitress with a bad attitude ... first time in 10 years at least that I have not left a tip. Also, I won't be back. Anyone looking for breakfast in Springfield, I recommend you trek across town to the IHOP off Dirksen Pkwy, Bakers Square, or Cracker Barrel for decent service and cooking plus other local places. There is no reason to put up with bad behavior with so many good and consistent dining choices. Whoever owns this IHOP should sit down with his employees and explain how lucky they are to have a job and to adjust their attitudes or the owner's investment will go down the drain as will the jobs of the employees. The 2 good parts of my experience today were the host who seated me and the toast I had was excellent, hence the one star. read more

Great selection, large dining area, clean, nice area, located near i-72, remodeled to include an open meeting area. Appeared to have wifi, but didn't see password listed anywhere. one of the newest and nicest ihop's i've dined, managed large lunch crowd very well, lots of parking with extra space in 2 surrounding adjacent strip malls. only a couple minutes for drink order to be taken, then brought within a minute, dining order taken immediately, food came out less than 10 minutes later read more

Let me tell you about this IHOP, I'm not from Springfield, but I stopped here for brunch with a friend..and we had the WORST service ever! Took us 20 mins to get waited on, and after our waitress only took our drink orders, she was gone for quite a while, then returned to take the orders of another table nearby who came after us!? we were ready to order and finally she did take our order but she was lazy and gave us such poor service I was very angry but did not say anything for the fact I was with a friend. When it takes over 20 mins to bring our ice water to the table? People who showed up after us were treated very well from what I could see. My eggs were cold and the bacon was not cooked to what I asked for. I did not give this waitress a tip at all because it was that bad. You get a tip based on their service and it was awful. Lucky for me I never have to go back to this IHOP again, but the one here in St. Louis is not much better at all. I cannot believe I'm saying this, but go to Denny's..there is one nearby I heard. At ihop on wabash this morning. There were two elderly gentleman waiting to sit down. One Has a walker and one has a cane. There are only 6 tables with guests. The remainder of the restaurant is completely empty. The "hostess" will not seat the gentleman because corporate says they cannot seat any more than the waitress can handle!! Really??!! Two gentleman with a cane and a walker and you can't at least seat them!!! Horrible, disrespectful and inconsiderate. They just lost my business. read more

The hostess completely forgot silverware when we were sat...and finally, when our food was delivered, we asked for silverware and we were given 2 sets, even though there were 3 of us at the table. The waitress was very good, and her trainee was nice as well. The real kicker for us though was the manager. I had a half hour to get in and out. This place was busy and I knew better! The hostess seated me in an exclusive area pronto. Well maybe this will work? Five minutes later, I was done reading the menu for the fourth time, and I had pretty much resigned mysel to coffee only. Nice chipper waitress skipped up to my table and apologized for her lateness and explained thar she would be taking care of me since the waiteess assigned to my station had not shown up for work. I explained that I was tight on time. Barked my order out as rapidly as I thought she would be capable of remembering it. She scurried off to the kitchen. Returned rapidly with my coffee. Before I could blink I had breakfast steaming in front of me. She checked in on me a couple of times to find my mouth full as I nodded my approval. Half way through my breakfast she dropped the check and said she would take care of that when I was ready. I had my change fifteen minutes after I had ordered and ten minutes to spare With my ten extra minutes I stopped at the hostess desk looking for the manager. She fessed up to being the manager. Worst IHOP I have ever been to. Very unsanitary and flies everywhere. The guy cleaning the tables was throwing the dishes in a bucket and water splashed onto me. Also the waitress took our drink orders and delivered them but we never saw her for another 25 minutes. We had to leave because we had somewhere to be.
