If you are a person of color, be prepared to be put at the bottom of priorities at this iHop. People who have gotten here 10 minutes after us have even gotten served before my family of 3. A table of 10 who were behind us in line got served before us as well. We have been waiting for our food for over half an hour and still nothing. When we asked about our food, a server even tried to make excuses for the wait even when we watched several others who got seated after us got served and even paid. Santa Nella is one of our go to road trip stops on the 5. There's gas, coffee and plenty of room to walk the dog so when I spotted an IHOP in the area, my love of all things pancakes drew me to this location for our morning breakfast stop. I was pleasantly surprised at the high ratings for a national chain that is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but I was a little disappointed our experience here didn't compare. We ordered on the app 20 minutes ahead, timing our arrival to exactly when our order was supposed to be ready. We weren't in a huge rush but we're always trying to minimize the time at our stops as much as possible so when we got here our plan was to pop in, grab our order, and eat our brekky quickly in the car. Unfortunately, this IHOP had other plans. Once we arrived, we waited another 20 minutes at least (so a total of 40 minutes since our order was placed). The restaurant wasn't too crowded on this weekday morning so I was surprised the wait was so long. I could have forgiven them this if our order hadn't also been missing items! Such a bummer. Ultimately, I don't think I'll make it one of our go to road trip spots but if you're not in a rush and you're dining in, it might be a better expedient for you. 3 stars because the food we did receive was still hot and fresh. read more

Two of us mid-afternoon. Ordered a Chicken salad and a 55+ fried fish lunch. The fish lunch was small portion, the fish smelled funny and fries were rubbery and probably made earlier in the day. The chicken salad was a little better, looked like the picture with all the components in place. Lettuce was 80% Iceberg, 20% Spinich, 1/4 of a tomato and like portions for the berries. Coffee served in a jug was cold. Worst, they charge $8 for coffee that was probably made 8 hours ago. We were not in a hurry but service was slow in an empty restaurant. We came in at the quiet part of midafternoon, were seated immediately, got our drinks and order taken quickly, and soon had food that looked exactly like the pictures in the menu. It was startling how perfectly my lemon ricotta blueberry crepes mirrored their glamor shot. My travel companion's omelet was large, generously filled, and contained meat that looked more real than what I'd had at the Pea Soup Anderson's back in Buellton. I envied that omelet. The lemon ricotta crepe verges onto an experience of eating crepe-wrapped icing, but that's clearly the corporate formula, not anything at fault with this restaurant. I finished it to the last bite. An IHOP in a truck stop won't win awards for ambience, but darn if they didn't deliver exactly what the chain concept promises, and with a really good iced tea, too. read more

We discovered there was an IHOP in Santa Nella, so we immediately drove over to check it out. Despite them being open for only a week, the food was delicious and our server, Randi, was very nice and attentive. Our interaction with the restaurant manager was a good one and he was genuinely concerned and eager to help answer our questions. I ordered breakfast for dinner and had the seasonal pumpkin pancakes. So glad I did! These were the best pumpkin pancakes I think I've ever eaten!!! They did not taste like powder nor were they overly dry or really doughy and raw in the center. These were perfect! The cook also got my eggs exactly the way I wanted them. The bacon and sausage was just right, too. Visit them soon and support a restaurant that so far puts out a great meal. read more

Keep in mind this my experience and it is a limited experience. I drive over the road and have seen this place a few times, this is my first time eating here. It took a bit to get someone to seat me, which isn't the end of the world, and they gave me time to order, which is also fine. I ordered an eggs benedict with potatoes, and a plant based sausage. When my food arrived, the spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes were cold, the hollandaise sauce wasn't much warmer and my egg yolks had congealed. This is a great way to get to a person sick and give them a horrible day later on. I signaled the manager, she made eye contact and I said "when you get a second". She never showed at my table. This last bit is hearsay, but I heard a server say that someone's omelette was cold, maybe it's a recurring issue? I get the restaurant business can be hectic, I've been there. Maybe they are understaffed, I don't know. The server offered to reduce the bill, I refused and paid in full, I am not looking for a free meal, I AM looking for a hot meal, a good meal, and a fair priced meal. When you charge $15+ for your meals and $23+ for the total bill, they damn well better come out hot. I cannot be driving my tractor and 200-300 miles down the road pull over for food poisoning. And when a customer has an issue that potentially leads to people getting sick, and flags the person in charge, said person needs to step up their game. Time management and organizational skills are critical in the restaurant game for a manager, be able to prioritize the situations. I called you over for a food issue, does not mean run around the restaurant handing out menus and seating people. Take a second to address the potentially more critical issue. read more
