I went there for a group meeting and when I heard they were going to have it at iHop at 6 in the evening I was not looking forward to it. When I walked in I was surprised at how many customers they had and they do have other things than pancakes. I had a wrap that had bacon and avocado in it and it was great! Then as I walked out the door, I noticed that the cook was wearing his mask halfway down with his nose and half of his mouth exposed. I love breakfast. It's one of my favorite meals to eat out at a restaurant. And I love consistency. This local IHOP offers both. You can always rely on their breakfasts as good: warm, well prepared, quick to the table and tasty for a chain restaurant. But equally as important are the staff and the customers. I so enjoy coming to this IHOP and seeing the same servers and management staff for several years now. They are always prompt, courteous and professional. And for the Olympia and Lacey area, the clientele are also a pretty consistent group and a nicely diverse slice of the community. I came here maybe a couple years ago and I didn't have a very great experience and i thought maybe things changed since it has been two years. So me and my husband walked in and the place was clean. Got seated right away. We noticed that there was only one waitress on the opposite side of the restaurant and I told my husband that i feel bad that she is working by herself. Two minutes goes by and she took our drink order, served us our drinks and mentions that our server will be right with us. So I'm like okay cool, she isn't the only one doing all these tables at least she has help. There was a table right next to us waiting to be cashed out. I heard the family mentioned that they haven't seen the server for our side for about 20 minutes and i looked at my husband and I'm like oh boy.. we might have a long wait. (There was only 6 tables at the time, 3 on the other side and 3 on my side). Jessi, our waitress, ended up showing up, cashing them out and then disappeared. I kid you not, it took her 25 minutes to come to our table. She would peak out of the kitchen and said I'll be right with you multiple times. And i looked over the other side of the restaurant, someone that JUST came in is already getting their order taken and we are STILL waiting. At this time i was a little annoyed. She came over, didn't even apologize then continued to take our order. Then she disappeared AGAIN, this time it was about 45 minutes and i looked at my husband and I'm like alright, it doesn't take that long to cook breakfast food. So i waved down the other waitress and she came by and got our order from the back. She apologized and said it has been down for a little while now and it was kind of cold and offer to get us a fresh order. I told her no because we have already been here for an hour in a half. After we finished our food, Jessi decided to show us and ask if we want our checks. I was so mad, i didn't even want to look at her because i didn't want to be a rude customer and cause a scene. So we cashed out and i wanted to inform the manager that they need to retrain Jessi on customer service. I would be more understanding if she came up to us and said she is taking a break and she will be back at this time or something but she literally disappeared. Bottom line : pro's - Food served quickly, excellent service. con's - very small portions, expensive for a diner setting/food, booths basically right on top of each other, no privacy, loud atmosphere. This is a diner. Nothing fancy. I would most likely skip this place and downtown to the Spar/Mcmenamins, Urban Onion, or over to Pellegrinos in Tumwater. Despite being busy and having many customers to respond to, the servers were very hospitable and easy going. During my time in this establishment I did not feel rushed and the workers were very nice. I took my girls and baby to eat breakfast at IHOP today. I haven't been to one in so long. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. It was busy, but the vibe just felt good in there. The efficiency at how they were receiving people was so good. As soon as we were seated, a waiter came by and asked if we were helped yet, and I told her no. She took our drinks and our order and took off to get things rolling. I was looking around at how much the decor has changed and how overall things just looked good from what I remember what an IHOP looked like. There were bus boys (hispanic men) on standby to clean up. One of the men working as bus boys greeted my mom and complimented her on her team jersey. Later, the same man saw me struggling trying to cut my pancake on a small plate, and he ran over with a big size plate. He told me it is better for me to use a bigger size plate. I was so pleased he cared enough to do that for me. It was such a simple gesture but big on the side of customer service. I was so happy with my experience. My waiter was also very attentive and kind. I just couldn't get enough of how much change I saw today in the restaurant. I will definitely be coming again. read more

Very piss poor quality of food. We ordered from Door Dash and the food was very very low quality. The quantity of fries and potatoes was very small for the price that was paid. Love this IHOP. Great service every time. In fact I was there yesterday. I wanted crepes but no meat that came with the meal. My waiter called the manager over so they could figure out how to charge me the least amount for what I wanted. Unlike Denny's where I was told I had to order meat and there was no other option by the waitress. Then the manager argued with me and they charged me almost the exact price of meal for the addition of one egg on top of paying for meat I did not eat, not to mention the manager then degraded IHOP and Shari's. read more

Pros: Fruity/Sweet Swedish pancakes!, Good omelets, and the baked potato soup is awesome. I also love the pot roast sandwich at lunch time. Cons: Maybe it's just me but I'm not a huge fan of the seating in this particular location. I need good fung shuey or whatever it's called to relax and enjoy my meal. I can't relax if my back is to a door/window or if there are people behind me looking at me lol. In most restaurants the boots are far enough apart this doesn't matter or there are high enough seat backs you can't really see the other table. At this iHop I actually smacked heads with a guy behind me! We leaned back at the same time and we cracked domes! Too close for comfort. Like economy coach seating on an airline. It's the only reason I steer my wife away from iHop when I can... if she had her way we would eat here all the time... she loves it ;) This location is always busy and the parking lot can be a little awkward, but all in all it's a solid breakfast joint. Asked for it to get warmed, think it saw 5 minutes in a microwave. Asked for a new one and got attitude. 15 minutes later no food for me husband ate it cold. When paying to leave waiter brought out a waffle in a to go bag. Asked if that was gluten free like I ordered. He grabbed it rolled his eyes and threw it away. We go to this IHOP on a regular basis. It almost seems like IHOP is a tradition to go to if we want to have breakfast-y type food. They're not the greatest of all of the breakfast type places, but this IHOP has some great service. They can get really busy, but this IHOP has never really failed to bring out your food on time. This was the second in our big three coffee shop trials. IHOP has become the place we go the most frequently. We never have had a wait here (but then as I mentioned in my review of Shari's we go mid-morning on weekdays so there really shouldn't be a wait), even though they always seem to be busy. Again a carafe of coffee is left at the table, the wait staff is very fast to be at our table and they do check back at least twice. The pricing is reasonable, the portions are good enough that we never leave hungry (of course EVERYTHING is served with two pancakes) and the coffee is pretty decent. My son's favorite thing is a sirloin tip breakfast that is served sauteed with mushrooms and onions and the one time I tried it was pretty danged tasty! I tend to be all over the map when I order and haven't had a bad thing yet and the food always gets to the table hot! Again the negatives. IHOP does not offer WIFI. Come on!! This is the second decade of the 21st century fer cryin' out loud! I know that IHOP is a "family" restaurant, but don't they know how many IPhones, IPads and lap-tops the average family has these days? Get with the program IHOP! Does EVERYTHING have to come with pancakes??? I don't even know if toast is available as an alternative because it has never been offered. Really, there are days I don't want two pancakes and an english muffin would do me just fine. And finally, the food just isn't as good as Shari's but it really isn't appreciably worse for the price either. Really, for us, it depends which restaurant we have a coupon for. Grossed out when I saw someone was allowed to bring their small dog into the restaurant and sit on a bench at a table a few steps away from where we were. I too have a small dog but would never ever bring him to a place where people eat... if it were a service dog I'd totally understand but not a little chihuahua. After hearing another person complain i figured it would be handled and went back to eating my food to notice a short hair on my plate between my sliced sandwich...( looked like a facial hair). Stellar service!!! Shout out to the entire team at IHOP on Martin Way. I was in an unusual situation of having to work remotely and desperate for a place with wifi. After being turned away by Starbucks, typically a welcoming and supportive place, I was greeted warmly by the IHOP hostess, Winter, who went out of her way to find a booth with power for my laptop. The manager, Matthew, helped find a place that met my needs and invited me to stay and work as long as I needed. My server (I am sorry I did not catch her name) was kind, attentive, and struck the perfect balance between meeting my water-filling needs and giving me space to focus on work. Of course I came back the next day. Winter not only remembered me, but again made sure I had a place to work in peace with power. we had lunch here today. this was my second time here. honestly, it was better than the first which is good. improvement is always good. i'll support a business that shows improvement. our waitress was cool. not rude or anything and not super friendly. maybe she was having a rough day and was trying to smile through it. it's ok girl! i feel you. both my daughter and i ordered the country fried steak. let's start with this. both our country fried steaks were good, with the exception of both being a little tough and chewy. i ordered the eggs well done and my daughter ordered scrambled - mine were good and my daughter says hers was good too, just a tad bit overcooked. the hash was actually better this time around, actually grated potatoes not just a wet blob of grated potatoes thrown together and fried. it was a little undercooked, a little on the chewy side but way better than my last visit. we got the side of pancakes, which i had to remind the waitress about and opted for the cinnastak and cookies instead of the original that the order comes with. when i think of ihop, i automatically think of pancakes; coffee; not so much food. with that being said, the pancakes today were a bit dry. they were good, just on the dry side. i had to take sips of coffee with it to moisten it up. the coffee - PLEASE? can i just get a good cup of coffee from here? especially at almost 3 bucks for a small cup, can i just please have a fresh, delicious cup of coffee? i love coffee so when i order a cup, i would really love to sit there in a restaurant, relax, and enjoy a good cup of joe. if i find a restaurant out here where i can sit and enjoy a good cup of coffee and pancakes (we love pancakes, too), then i'm sold! i'll advertise your place real well when i become The Superstar that i am destined to be. This is probably one of the worst IHOPs I've ever been to. No one was polite, or even said hi or bye when we were coming and going. Our waitress acted like we were a huge inconvenience, even though we had NO special requests. Anytime we needed something she'd roll her eyes and act like it was the biggest deal to fill up our water cups. Might be time to retain some waitresses on how to interact with customers. read more
