Popped in for a yummy breakfast. They are BUSY!!! When they're busy our service is always better!! The cooks were slinging food and the serves were picking up fast and furious!! I ordered bacon avocado eggs Benedict and hubby got a build your own omelet. The food came out hot and delicious!!! The restaurant was crowded and noisy, but happy!! We were fairly disappointed with our visit to iHop in New Bern today. From sitting on the massively broken chairs, to the long wait to be greeted once seated, and the long wait for our barely warm food that was missing components and incorrectly made. Unfortunately, we had to ask multiple times for the same forgotten items. The waitress was still very nice and we could tell that she genuinely cared... but she seemed very overwhelmed even when they weren't all that busy. Upon entering hostess was trying to ask us how many (Zeria I think was her name) but there was another female with her discussing what to eat! The woman standing by her saw us (2) but didn't acknowledge us! Once the hostess & I locked eyes I immediately said for two. If we weren't to hungry we would've just walked out! I have ordered the bacon omelette before and before it looked just like the pictures on the website where it was really thick and fat and just full of bacon and cheese in the inside, absolutely amazing. This time it was flat as you can see in the picture and it didn't even have bacon in it up to the first fourth of the omelette on either side, there was only some in the middle and even that was hardly anything there. It looked like there was maybe a half or less of a piece of bacon ripped apart on top of the omelette and hardly any cheese just some cheese sauce. It was horrible! We were promptly greeted and seated fairly quickly with how busy they were. Our servers name was Ms. Hayze and she was awesome!! She checked on us without being bothersome. He ate the gravy so fast I didn't get a chance to taste for the review but apparently it was yummy . The breakfast biscuit was perfect for my husband as he likes his biscuits a little softer, to me however it was a little too light and biscuit tasted little floury but all and all good. I've had worse. Husband had no complaints and as it was his meal all good with me! I ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette. Oh my... What can I say that was just scrumptious! We went back today! It's Sunday. We didn't even wait. We were done with mass about 12 noon came straight here and got in line. To my surprise there was no wait. Today the food was off. We ordered a steak omelette. It had a sweet sugary syrup in it. No Bueno. Couldn't figure out what it was. The pancakes were yellow. It didn't taste right either. Cook was off. Can we fix something... let's fix this whole check out process. Today there were maybe about 6 people standing. Looking busy standing. No customers tending to.... On my recent visit to IHOP, I experienced some of the most discourteous service I've ever witnessed. I had the displeasure of encountering one of your hostesses named Tkeyah. She blatantly and unwarrantedly disrespected my wife Krishonda's name without solicitation. Saying and I quote, "black people just get worst every year" and "if I had that name I would be embarrassed." She was incredibly disrespectful and the interaction was unnecessary. Went to IHOP this morning looking to get something quick since we had a meeting at 11:00. Got there at 9:50. There was a party of 6 and a party of 8 along with our party of 2. We were seated at 10:00 and they were cleaning tables for the party of 6. 5 minutes later we gave them our order. The coffee and tea came within minutes. At 10:25 we watched the table if 6 pay the tab and leave after finishing their meal. At 10:35 we had enough and left the building. So after 45 minutes, we received a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. So much for fast quality service, or any service for that matter. Their biggest concern when we left, where were you sitting so we can cancel your order. I wouldn't bet that an order was even placed. I ordered food for pick-up at IHOP on MLK BLVD this weekend and discovered a wad of chewed gum in my order of fries after I had eaten half of my meal. I called IHOP and told the hostess what happened and she passed the phone to Ginger, the supervisor on shift. After telling Ginger about my experience, she remained silent for a few moments and then chuckled and said, "I don't know what to say about that." Then she asked me what I wanted her to do about it.  I asked her, "What do you usually do when someone finds chewed up gum in their food?" She let me know it has never happened before and she does not know how it could even happen now because the cooks and everyone else on the staff are not allowed to chew gum. She made it clear several times that the cooks could not have chewed gum because it is "against the rules" and gave me the impression she believed I was lying. She offered to remake the burger for me to come back and pick it up, but I told her I have already eaten half of my food and am not interested in having it remade. She asked me again, "Then what do you want me to do about it?" I asked for a refund and she confirmed this was an option. I provided my credit card number as requested and then was asked for the "total amount of the bill." I told her $43.04 and she immediately responded in a sarcastic tone, "A forty-three dollar burger???" I replied, "Ma'am, you asked me for the 'total amount of the bill' not the amount of the burger. Those are two different things." She proceeded to ask for the burger total and after I provided her with the amount, let me know she would refund the $9.59.  After the call, I returned to the table with my family and no one wanted to eat their food after the chewing gum incident. I called Ginger back and explained to her, "No one else wants to finish eating their food after the discovery of the chewing gum in my own food. It is a concern with the food handling and we don't know if there is anything else going on in the kitchen at this point. She said she would refund the total after I text her a copy of the online receipt. She also notified me she had discussed this with the district supervisor. I sent her a screenshot of the receipt, but I also sent the photo of the gum in my food. Her response was, "Sir, any way that could be cheese from the mozzarella cheese sticks that we have? They cook in the same baskets."  What I gather from my experience is that the manager did not believe I found this chewing gum in my food and went in circles to deny the possibility instead of apologizing and working towards a solution. I was finally refunded 2 1/2 hours later after the initial phone call. read more

Terrible service! Had a spill at our table and the only people who came to the rescue were the people sitting around us. Staff actually walking by and stepping over. The only reason I even ordered from here is because I was craving a healthy omelet for lunch at work and they were the ONLY delivery doing this. The restaurant was very clean and the food was great! Our server Teahecia was absolutely amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and kept our glasses filled. My experience here has been so bad. This is my 3rd and last time visiting this Ihop. This is the nearest ihop but Idk rather drive further at this point. The first time I visited my turkey sausages were not cooked in the inside and we were given the meal free. The second time I visited more recently the staff was just horrible our waitress was so nonchalant and when we asked for something she seemed as if she was so bothered by our simple requests. I visited again and the service was ever worst. We were not greeted by anyone at the door yet they have a sign that says wait to be seated. We waited a whole 5 minutes before someone came to see how many were in our party. We were then seated and our waitress didn't even stop at the table she kept walking as she told us she would be our server. All the staff were walking around looking like someone killed their dog, employees were sitting at the table talking to people instead of serving. We waited long for our food and when it came the food was so bad. The orange juice tasted old and we had to return them. We had not been to an IHOP in quite some time and this trip reminded me of why. It should not take two hours to have a pancake breakfast. The place was definitely not on its "A" game. The coffee was warm, the very first thing I asked for was an ice water, which I got along side the to-go boxes. I am not sure, but scrambled eggs shouldn't come over easy, and when I got them corrected I'm not sure what they were. They definitely didn't taste like eggs. When I finally got the bill it was somebody else's. When I got the correct bill there were 4 cups of coffee on it. I only drank the one warm one. I was listening to the couple at the next table comment on how their experience was, and mine mirrored theirs in the end. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience, but perhaps in the distant future I will give it another try. Maybe time will soften the memory enough to try. read more
