Where's the fruit? Oh, it's hiding under the whipped cream

Greetings from Morris, IL. I had planned on stopping at a local diner, but not only did I turn the wrong way, I was in the wrong lane. So, I ended up at IHOP. The place was pretty crowded, but getting seated and placing my order was quick. I ordered the Rooty Tooty Fresh-n-Fruity (peaches) Pancakes. Well, the cakes were served hot 8-) , but the peaches were not only on the cool side, they were a bit hard. And, there were only 6 of 'em (very difficult to make 6 peach slices go far on a 3 stack of cakes). The staff was friendly And courteous. And, the Wi-Fi was strong. Not only do they get 3 Stars for an inadequate amount of fruit, but the guy in the booth behind me made it impossible to sit properly (he was worse than the kid who kicks your seat in the theater, or on the plane). So, for only the 2nd time in my entire life, I moved to another table. And at that one, I had to shift my seating because the springs were poking me.

This is the WORST IHOP I've ever seen!!!!! At least three waitresses AND the General Manager working. There were about four tables with people at them. My table didn't even have all the syrup and waitress made no attempt. It took three of us IVER 10 minutes to pay, and 2 guys waited over 10 min to get seated and then got up and left because they put them in the back at a dirty table (note they took them to that area because the main area had no clean tables) No idea where the GM was. She surfaced for a bit in her pink tank top sporting her healthy collection of tattoos! (NO objection to tats or those who have them-point is that she looked unprofessional as all get out) After I finally paid, I went to restroom where I was greeted by full trash can and urine looked under the urinal! IRONICALLY, the pic below is the sign that greets you on the front door!

They might want to start with their ceiling.

They might want to start with their ceiling. Place not very clean and needs lots of remodeling. Bench's need fixed & parking lot needs painted. Very friendly service & good food

Food was okay, bur the service was not good. After our food came, we did not see the waitress until we were done eating.

Now, having a restaurant option that is 5 minutes away is a welcome treat. We went in on a Wednesday evening. It was late, probably too late to take our kiddo out, but this time of year is busy. After a day full of school and sports, we needed dinner. Papa Magoos was on our way home, so we gave it a shot. I walked in and almost immediately wanted to leave. It was 8 p.m. on a Wednesday night, there were maybe 15 people in the restaurant area, and there was a DJ blasting tunes loud enough that you couldn't have a conversation at your own table. Kind of an odd play for a Wednesday night, but maybe I'm just too old. Fortunately, we asked the waitress if we could sit in the side room with some video games - a much quieter area. Another couple had their kids there and all of the kids bonded over the hockey table. Service was great - our waitress was very attentive, honest about recommendations, and didn't steer us wrong. For an appetizer, we started with cheese curds paired with their ranch, buffalo, and marinara. Let me tell you - the cheese curds were a solid 8 out of 10 - but the portion size was huge. It's by far the largest order of curds we have ever received. I almost wished it was smaller because they were so good we ate the whole order - and it was just too much! All of the sauces were delicious. After those curds, my wife and I decided to split eight wings and fries, and the kiddo got a hot dog off of the kids menu. The bone-in the wings were served naked, as in just fried with skin on - no breading. The wings were enormous - and after those curds, we ate only two. We got four tossed in buffalo and four plain, with Garlic Parmesan and Mango Habanero on the side. The buffalo is a bit nontraditional looking, but it's excellent. The Mango Habanero was also nontraditional looking, but it was decent as well - but don't expect a lot of heat; it's sweeter, and the buffalo was hotter. The Garlic Parm was my least favorite, but it wasn't bad. We had to order a basket of fries on the side - which was entirely too much, but the fries are really good - straight cut, done a bit well and topped with some kind of salty seasoning and parsley. The kid's hot dog was not bad - it was served on a bun that was just a bit too big and fancy for my 6-year-old, and the hot dog itself was either overcooked or had a tough skin that I had to cut with a knife for him. Either way, it tasted good and came with a generous portion of fries. Two fountain drinks, a water, and a 20% tip came out to $60. It's not the cheapest, but that's the world we live in today. I could have saved $8 or so by not getting the huge order of fries with the wings. I've been taking a break from alcohol for a bit - but I did notice they had a slightly above par selection of craft beer on draft. Mostly IPAs, but at least it's not just Green Line from Goose. They had selections from Buckle-Down, Lagunitas, Revolution, and cans from Will County, among others. Don't worry, all your favorite macro lagers are here too. Papa Magoos definitely exceeded expectations - and I'll be back to try different things on the menu. Bonus that it's a short drive away in an area that is pretty much a desert of restaurant
