Riding the PRT and eating in Morgantown, WV - 2 of 2 At this point, you're leaving town ... motoring on undulating I-68, then going for I-81 south, and finally taking I-64 east until you can't drive any further east on the continent. This IHOP is in a newer shopping area, which one usually finds on the outskirts of flagship college towns, and which are always a welcomed counterpart to the dumpy and bohemian parts closer to the center of any of these towns. Admittedly, there may be too many chain restaurants and big box stores in these parts. I looked at the distribution of ratings without letting it affect my score. An IHOP is probably never going to get 5 stars from me, but this was clearly a 4 star event. This is a nice IHOP store that is newer, clean, and has a nicely sized parking lot. The service was pleasant, with the usual small talk that takes place, and the menu is just about the same as it is at other stores. IHOPs feature a food happy hour that runs most of the afternoon. None of it is health(y) food, even though chicken or turkey might be better options. They also have an omelette with the choice of a starch that is an excellent value. That's what I had. The omelette was decked out with robust ingredients, it was fresh out of the kitchen, and it was filling. IHOP pancakes do what they're supposed to quite well and they do have sugar-free syrup available. I also like that they leave the carafe of coffee on the table, so I helped myself to a few cups to fuel going forward on this automotive trek. You might only have to tilt the steering wheel up in figurative terms because you might feel full. However, the scenery east of here will keep you going. Soon after leaving and get back on to I-68, you'll see scenic and wooded Cheat Lake from the interstate, which has McMansions and condos on stilts near the lakeshore. In short order, you will cross the state line into Maryland and are on to navigating the Cumberland Gap. This IHOP feels more connected to the Cheat Lake vibe than it is to Morgantown's hodgepodge college town center. read more

Okay I know you shouldn't listen in to other folks, but this was hard.. I was seated by the hostess and she placed my sitting in a window booth but with my back to the room (privacy?? ) So, I took the opposite seat to face room ..call it paranoid or too many gangster & cowboy movies in my youth .... don't like my back to the room. Waitress came quickly to get my drink order...I requested a soda and she scurried away. Now for the floor show... I heard one of my fellow diners ask for attention, waved his arms and even snapped his fingers. Finally the hostess came over, I would like my waitress....and off she went. A few seconds no actually minutes about 2-3 another woman came to him. Meanwhile my waitress appears with my tea...???? I thought I asked for soda,but no big deal breaker..and she takes my order !! Meanwhile by this time the man and his waitress was exchanging a gun shower of words..he was upset his pancakes cold, she's claiming the butter wouldn't be melty if cold...he wanted fresh ones and she wasn't having it.... Come on lady, this is a Pancake Place ..go get the elderly gentleman hotter pancakes!!! No big deal, but she wasn't having it...she argued with him. She finally got it!!! My food arrived and I was thinking to myself, glad I'm not in her section. He ate his meal, I finished my Eggs over Easy with Bacon and toast. He paid her and left!! We just went to our local IHop for breakfast. Yes, they were a little busy, but only had a wait time of 10 minutes. Waitress took a bit to get to the table, but was otherwise attentive. We waited 45 minutes on our order for it to arrive cold. Butter wouldn't come close to melting on the pancakes or the waffle. We told our waitress that the only thing "hot" on our order was the hash browns. She did offer to have new meals made, but we didn't have another 45 minutes to wait. I guess she told the manager as she came back and gave us a 20% discount on the bill, which was nice, but I would rather have had hot food. Instead we're taking our omelet and waffle home to warm up in the microwave. Really kind of a disappointment. Too bad Denny's closed. Never got a cold breakfast there. read more

Disaterous visit.Staff was laughing and being loud with customers they knew.Service was horrible as our waitress was too busy goofing off with coworkers and customers she knew then to check on us for refills and get our check to us after she came and took our plates.Waited several minutes and no check. Then fire alarm went off and they rudely said we had to leave.No smell of smoke or no smoke seen.We know what to do in a fire alarm but there was no need to be rude to us. We inquired about our bill and still got rudeness.Then fire dept arrived and we knew it could still be awhile for them to get the all clear to go back in.Still asking about getting our bill so we could leave.One girl got attitude and said "Do you want to go into the fire to pay your bill"?The guy who said he was the manager told us we could come back later tonight or tomorrow and pay or we could leave our debit card with them-----Are you kidding me"?These people was trying to make us stay until an unknown amountvof time.We understand that fire alarms can happen but if they had been doing theircjob we could have had our check and paid our bill and left before the alarm.But you are gonna not do your job and then hold us hostage at your restaurant.We gave them $40.00 cash which would cover our bill and left.The extra was not a tip,we didnt have a smaller bill.The food was hoid but the staff at this Oakland St location was horrible tonight.We will not be back. read more

My daughter said that giving this place to stars was being kind. I have to agree with her, I decided to take my daughter here after her fifth grade graduation for some brunch and mommy daughter time. I decided to order the sirloin tips and the hashbrowns with eggs. It was disgusting first of all I am not sure how you mess up sirloin tips but I put them in my mouth and I literally wanted to spit them out on my plate however good manners stop me from doing that. The hashbrowns that came with my meal we're so greasy. The eggs were OK they were scrambled so you really can't mess that up. My pancakes we pretty good I only ate about 1/3 of them and they were pretty good but I just couldn't finish them. I was disappointed in this IHOP my daughter even complained about the bacon. I don't know how you mess up bacon but I was not overly impressed either. Our waitress didn't really check on us much either which was horrible. Ordered stawberry banana french toast. The toast was not toasted enough, doughy. There was not even enough strawberries and bananas for one slice of toast. I requested extra bananas and strawberries, which came later. The banana was seriously green and the strawberries were cold. The toast wasn't hot to begin with, so when I put the cold strawberries on it, it was almost not worth eating, cold doughy. The server was was very nice. read more

Absolutely delighted with this location! We were seated quickly, our server was kind and attentive without being overbearing, and the food came out PERFECT. I ordered a brioche French toast combo with eggs over medium, bacon, and hash browns. My boyfriend got the 2 egg breakfast. Everything was hot and flavorful, my eggs done perfectly as requested! A lot of places have a hard time getting over medium right, and with how fast the food came out I was skeptical, but to my delight they were great! I definitely will be back to this restaurant. It's hard to believe how much this location has declined. I was quickly seated, then ignored for about 10 minutes, in a nearly empty restaurant. When the waitress finally showed up, she took my order. The classic burger and fries were very good, but my waitress had vanished. I had to ask the front desk girl to find her, to get a refill on my soft drink. The classic combo included the drink, but I was charged separately for it. When I pointed this out at checkout, it took a manager to correct my bill. The entire restaurant seems to have employees, from the management on down, who don't want to be there, are bored, and don't really care about what kind of service you receive. I wish I could give 0 instead of one star. This restaurant was my favorite since 2016, until today. The amount of disrespect I received from this guy at ihop was outrageous. I entered through the wrong, one way lane this morning. When I realized that I was half way through, I thought that the best thing to do was to continue to avoid causing accidents if I stopped. (I never thought that I had to stop). In the mean time, I was peeking nervously to ensure that there was no incoming car, which wasn't. (I was extremely lucky, I know). After I parked my car, a light skinned, bearded, middle aged, medium height, Chubby male approached me. He was wearing Hawaiian shirt. He asked if I'd entered through the wrong one way lane. I told him yes and I said I was sorry that I didn't realize it until late. His demeanour was ok at that point. He then proceeded to tell me that last week a girl got hurt badly because of the same reason. He had every reason to be mad or nervous, but without necessarily insulting me. He said "you just had to stop, you just had to stop". I was listening patiently because I was wrong. I just wanted to explain to him why I didn't stop, (like I said I didn't know I had to stop). I wanted to tell him that I didn't want to justify my fatal mistake, but I just wanted to tell him why I didn't stop. " I was driving carefully trying see if there was a car coming my way when I realized that I made a mistake, but there wasn't thank God). He kept interrupting me, "you just had to stop". I said "can you listen to me for a second?", because he didn't seem to give a chance to say any thing. My intention was to apologise one more time, then tell him that I didn't know that I had to stop, and that it won't happen again. He said very condescendingly : " I don't have to listen to you". I said, " I don't have to listen to you either, if you don't want to listen to me". He said "Get off my property then". I said: " I'm not getting off your property, is this your property?!", he said "yes, get off my property"! I ended the conversation and left. He didn't only kill my appetite, he actually insulted me in public with a very arrogant tone and impatient attitude. How come a person like this treats customer like this because he owns the property, or manages it or whatever his position is?! Who gave him the the right to treat customers like this?! Is this the person Ihop wants to represent their brand?! A guy who's so full of himself, have 0 regards to others, disrespectful, and only listens to himself?! A person who completely negates others and shuts them down because he's in power and because he can?! Shame on you Ihop! Needless to say that if my family ever comes to visit again, ihop won't be their favourite brunch destination anymore, especially after I tell them how I was treated. I made a mistake and I own to it. I apologise to the rest of the staff and to any driver who could've been at risk of my reckless driving at that moment. I was given a pancake with a fake eyelash on my pancake and my waitress refused to agree that it was hers when she was clearly missing one!! I'll never be coming here again. Went here with my twin and little brother during the lunch rush, ordered the sirloin tips with eggs, hashbrowns and toast. The eggs were beyond runny. Hashbrowns were burnt to a crisp on the outside but mush on the inside. Upon cutting open one of the eggs I expected dippy. However, this was not the case. Came to eat here with my boyfriend he wanted steak and eggs so I saw and thought oh I love ihops pancakes so we go in now usually when you walk in the server usually greets you like Hello welcome to IHOP well we didn't get that we actually got a weird young lady who spent like 3 minutes staring at my boyfriend like he was a piece of **** and watching him as he went to the restroom and it pissed me off but I let it go figured it must be in my head. So then we are seated and our waitress comes I order coffee for my boyfriend hot chocolate for me. My boyfriends coffee was cold and he's not a complainer but I am. We stopped here on our way south on a Saturday morning. I almost didn't stop because of the other reviews, but glad we did. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The restaurant looked new or newly renovated. It was extremely clean...especially the restrooms. We had typical breakfasts foods, waffles, eggs, and pancakes. I live near this restaurant, so I thought I'd give their new IHOB (burgers) a whirl. I ordered the Classic burger, which comes with lettuce, tomato, some type of BBQ sauce, and cheese. I had requested mayo on my burger and the BBQ sauce on the side, plus an order of onion rings. First, there was no BBQ sauce of any type in the bag, and whatever small amount of orange sauce they'd smeared on the bun was ALSO not mayo, and there was none in the bag. The burger was not much bigger than what you'd find on any other hamburger from a popular burger joint, and one bite off the outside, told me it also was NOT done. It was pink. even on the edges. I put it in the airfryer to cook through, until the cheese (two small slices from a package) started to dry out (and the hamburger still wasn't done). I threw it out. Having just gotten out of the hospital that day for stomach issues, I wasn't about to eat raw meat. My husband's hamburger was also pink, but he ate it. I'm not willing to eat raw hamburger. IHOB needs to find a new cook, or give up on the burgers before they start making people sick. I just new I should have stuck with a Big Mac or a Quarter Pounder...just as close. It's pretty bad when you pay $9.29 for just the hamburger, and you can't eat it. My advice--stick with what you know, and for those of you craving a good burger...go to Wendy's or Mickey D's...I've never gotten a raw burger from them, and I've never paid $9.00 for a single hamburger, and I never will again (at least from IHOB) read more

NIGHTMARE! Staff was complaining, LOUDLY, ready to walk out. Ceiling was leaking over tables and it wasn't even raining! People waiting to be seated while others are allowed to go ahead. Second time eating at IHOP. I decided to try the breakfast crepes. They were two crepes stuffed with scrambled eggs, bacon, and ham and covered in white cheddar sauce. It wasn't good. The white cheddar sauce was overpowering. My youngest got a kids crepes with bananas and Nutella. That was delicious. And our awesome waitress brought me crepes stuffed with a banana pudding and covered in strawberries and sauce. Those were also delicious. So I can't fault the place because I didn't like the breakfast crepes. The rest of the food was good and the waitress was very personable and on point. read more
