11/16/2025: Ricardo was attentive and friendly. That's about all I can say for this place. The table was smudgy when we sat down. They seated us in a booth right by the kitchen. You would think workers would be concerned for the "dining" experience of the customers, but no. Loud laughing, yelling, singing. A bunch of teens with no understanding of customer service. I'm still young enough to remember the days I worked food service and retail. Absolutely unbelievable how people just don't care. But wait, there's MORE! It took 14 minutes for someone to come take our drink order. We sat there looking at each person walking by. No one said a word. By this time, we knew what we wanted, so we ordered the meal at the same time. My friend's meal came out first, so she sat waiting for mine to arrive. It appeared 4 minutes later. No explanation or apology. It wasn't even our server who brought the food to us. The eggs were cold and dry. The bacon tasted terrible. It didn't even taste like bacon! The sausage links and pancakes were okay. The carpet and walls were very dirty. Don't let the photos fool you. The only good is because I take great pictures. I honestly hate giving anything less than 3 stars, but IHop, you did not earn even 2! Terrible!! Egg (no pun intended) on my face for telling my friend that IHop is great. Exceptional service this morning! Everyone was friendly and helpful. Asked if we could check out the condiments bag to make sure we weren't missing anything. They greeted us on our way in and in our way out. The food tasted great. I'm sure the service helped. This was probably one of the nicest ihops I have ever visited. One side of the restaurant has chairs & tables. The other side has booths. Looks like it had been remodeled recently. Appeared to be doing a good takeout business as well. We were greeted well by several people. The waitress was efficient and very pleasant. The omelets were cooked well and fruit was fresh. Sausage was dry, biscuits were flat, and gravy was bland. Yuk. No jelly or napkins on the table. Waiter was super nice, but had little or no conversation skills. I'd go with 3.5 stars if possible and gave them the benefit of the doubt with the 4 star rating. Sunday late morning expect a wait, not crazy, about 30 minutes or so. Some indoor seating for waiting which was welcome given the heat wave outside. Ordered the bourbon jam eggs Benedict and hubby got the 2x2x2 (which was very reliable). The eggs Benedict was surprisingly flavorful! It comes with has browns which were perfect after adding a liberal amount of salt. The building is a bit tired. We walked in at 8:15 pm on a Saturday. The hostess greeted us with a sweet smile and sat us right away as the restaurant was not overly busy. We sat, rotated all 4 us us through the bathroom and we still had yet to be greeted by our server or any server for that matter. At 8:30 pm I flagged down a young man in the IHOP uniform asking if there was anyone to help us, about 5 minutes later a young lady named Shaqui (she was fairly soft, so hopefully I spell it correctly) came to our table. No apology for the long wait just asked for our drink order and if we were ready. We placed our orders, 3 pancake combos and an order of breakfast tacos, and she left to put in our orders. I looked at my watch, 8:51 pm, another group had just been seated and amazingly had their drinks within minutes from our same waitress. We had still not received a follow-up visit from our server, drink refills, an apology, or reassurance our order would he right out nor our actual food. At 8:59 we got up from our seats and let the hostess know to cancel our food we would be leaving. I stopped and let her know we had been there for 45 minutes (ish) and had yet to receive our food. She looked at me like I had 5 heads or something, but I just told her to have a good night and kept walking. I have been to this IHOP many times after a day at the beach with my family and never had such terrible service. They have always been happy, friendly, and extremely quick with the service. So I was a bit shocked honestly at the lack of concern shown by any of the staff, not just our server. 2 young men was servicing the tables behind us, never inquired or gave us a second glance, there was a whole gaggle of staff hanging around the kitchen chatting when I went to the restroom, and their side work was clearly done already since there were several tume wr saw groups of young ladies just walking around laughing or chatting up at the hostess stand. Clearly, there was plenty of staff to lollygag around so there was absolutely no reason for our treatment. We didn't feel bad leaving either. We had only ordered waters to drink, so didn't feel obligated to ask for the check. I sincerely hope this is just a bad night and not an overall downturn in service. read more

Great location (right next to the beach). Menu is very affordable. They have a great ihoopy hour that includes $6 meals (no drink included- see photos) which is amazing!! I know Sunday mornings are busy but overall, I was disappointed with today's service. We specifically asked the waitress to substitute eggs for hash brown due to an egg allergy. The food comes out with eggs. I asked twice for hot syrup and it took almost 20 mins. I asked for eggs with cheese and it was incorrect. I sent back and they literally laid a half melted slice of cheese on it. Ridiculous. She brought half our order and didn't bring my mom's food until 10 mins later. Our waitress made this visit a little magical as she, with her absolutely beautiful voice; sang everything from Phantom of the Opera to lots of Christmas songs. The food was a hit and a miss. The veggie omelet was delicious and would have been even better with a little more sauce. The oreo pancakes were a miss. I had such high hopes for it, but the pancakes were so incredibly dry and you can't really add anything to it to try and moisten them up. Mia was so very personable, kind and friendly and Stan actually allowed us to try some new pumpkin waffle recipes. When one of my legs is out of action, IHOP. My boyfriend does too, Denny feels bad for imitating me. You can come here if you want pancakes next to the sea wall. This restaurant is next to the cartoonish rainforest cafe. The food is standard American diner fare. The employees are very nice, and the bathroom is clean. However I think the food is some of the worst you can get (in general, all IHOPs are), but if I had to eat at an IHOP, honestly, this is the one I'd go to. Great location and lovely employees. And they let me use their bathrooms even when I'm not eating here. Most places in Gal vest on don't do that. Now I'm taking off my men's tank top, and putting a Gal Vest On. read more

The day we went the place was packed with a fairly long wait and a good thunderstorm going on which kept causing short power outages and shutting down the registers. Whoever the hostess was that day did an awesome job. She was having to take names and deal a bunch of hungry people. She pretty much was running the place. The manager would come out and look around and then head back to the office. You would think a leader would be up there giving a hand to help serve the customers. I was looking forward to going to iHop as Ii had not been to one for many years. It was raining. Upon entering I was greeted by a man on a bench. Then a waitress came to seat me. She lead me to the left side and tried to seat me away from the booths and tables close to front window. When I told her I preferred the table in the corner by the front window. She let out a sigh, and said, "Alright". Seating me and immediately asked what I wanted to eat. II told her I would need to review a menu. She asked if I wanted Coffee. I said yes. As she walked away she asked if I wanted milk and sugar which I said yes. She brought me my coffee as I looked over the menu. Five minutes later she came back to take my order. I told her what I wanted and that Ii wanted my eggs sunside up with the white part of the egg cooked. She tried to tell me to get my eggs over medium for some reason about how they cooked. I told her I wanted them subside up with the white of the egg cooked and not watery looking. She then saiid that the cooks did not know how to cook them like I asked. I told her I had always ordered my eggs sunny side up with whites of the egg cooked and the cooks never had a problem in cooking them. My breakfast came and the eggs looked fine. After sitting my plate on what I thought was the placemat, she then pointed with her middle finger moving it to the placemat, and said they did not have them any more. But I lifted my plate and she removed the menu and walked away. She never came back to my table. I had to asked her for Orange Juice after she finished taking an order from the couple at the table in front of me. Never asked if I needed my coffee top-up. After finished my meal I waited for my bill. I watched her walking around never looking my way so I could motion to her I wanted my bill. She went to Her order station and messed around there and then went to the front desk and was talking and what looked like joking with her fellow waitress. I took some cash and left it as a tip by my plate. Finally she came with my ticket. II took it and started walking to the front desk to pay. She told me I had to wait at the table. I told her I did not wish too, and pay at Her station. I paid and I left. II thought, "iHop has changed." Then I thought no the waitress was bad. Ii thought how her rolled up sleeves revealing her tattooed arm and hand inclusive of the middle finger that pointed and removed the placemat like menu. I might return but if I do I will avoid this waitress. read more

I think almost half of my reviews on Yelp are on IHOP *chuckles & shrugs.* But to be honest, IHOP is the true definition of "chain restaurant." And I mean that in a GOOD WAY. I've been to so many different IHOPs in many different cities and you basically get the same good quality food & good service at all of them. I really appreciate that. I like the fact that this IHOP is open 24 hrs. I needed to be up semi-early on a Saturday morning so I stopped here for some breakfast around 6am. It wasn't too crowded at all. I was promptly seated and my food came out pretty quickly. It tasted great as usual. I ate the egg whites and turkey bacon before I could get a pic but I got a pic of the pancakes. Apparently Texans know how to make Waffle House enjoyable. I am not normally a fan of IHOP. In fact, I have never had a good meal at any of the Louisiana locations. Since this location was next to our hotel, I was forced to go there. Imagine my surprise when we were greeted by several friendly employees who promptly seated us and took our order. I went with the make your own omelet with ham, tomato, peppers and onion. The omelet was perfectly cooked and contained fresh tasty ingredients. It was quite enjoyable. We ordered coffee and were brought a whole pot to the table. The coffee was fresh and surprisingly good. I have no idea why this location is so good compared to every other IHOP that I have been to, but I was impressed. Everyone we encountered was genuinely helpful and friendly. All IHOP employees need to come here to learn their system. If you find yourself in Galveston in need of breakfast, give this IHOP a try. read more

Franz was the best server ever! The Omelets were amazing. We really liked this location. You can see the ocean from here and it's nice to watch the waves crash and the beach. The omelets were so good I got the bacon one and added mushrooms and onions with diced bell peppers. Ask for a side of the white cheese sauce to pour on top. My daughter ate the cupcake pancakes that were my side and was so happy about them. They are topped with purple frosting. OJ was good. We actually went back the next day and had a different server. The lady was not as good as Franz she wore her mask only half the time and didn't pay much attention to us. Food was still good just not the same.
