So Mac-ies is a stationary food truck. They are adjacent to the Galveston Bagel Company. Upon speaking with the person taking our order, I found out that both establishments are owned by the same person. There is outdoor seating but if you want to dine indoors, you are welcome to do so in the bagel shop even after the bagel shop closes at 2pm. We've been here twice and the first time we ate in the bagel shop (it was chilly outside). Nothing fancy. Nice and clean and a decent amount of seating. 2nd time, we took it to go. We ordered the "Brown Bag Special" (pic attached) both times which is only available from 2pm-5pm daily )believe they're closed on Sundays). It is only $10 and includes a single smash burger, a small fry, a chocolate chip cookie and a can of soda/fountain drink. Food: Let me tell you that this is one of my favorite burgers of all time. I got it with cheddar cheese, pickles, mustard and bbq sauce. Delicious! The fries and the cookie were also good. The first time I came, I opted for the fountain drink. I don't know if this was a one-off, but it was awful. Sickeningly sweet. I ended up throwing it away. Second time, I chose the canned soda (coke). This is one of the best values that I have encountered in a long time. I suggest that you eat it here. My to-go order was good but I really enjoyed it hot and fresh off the griddle. Full disclosure, when I got it to go, I did take it all the way back to the West End (about a 25 minute drive). I really recommend that you give this place a try. Macies is a food truck nestled outside the Galveston Bagel Company with outdoor patio seating or indoor seating in the bagel company storefront itself. The food is reasonably priced but delicious. I'd recommend the double Mac (I personally feel that the single smash patty isn't enough meat), and my go-to toppings are tomato, spinach, Gouda, and Mac sauce. Fries are skinny and always crunchy and seasoned with what tastes like Slap ya Mama. Brown bag special also comes with a cookie, which was soft and chewy but seemed store-bought (I still appreciated this addition to this cheap meal option though). The worst place we have ever been to while on vacation. They need to train their staff how to take orders correctly. Two of my family members ordered and all their burgers came out completely wrong. I placed an order and she took it incorrectly and I asked for a refund to re-order the correct thing and she still tried to give me the wrong burger when I spoke to the owner she acted like it was no big deal and the employee kept arguing with a family member that avocado was on the burger when there wasn't any avocado on that burger and the owner got upset and said she was just refunding all of our money, which was fine with us. We went to a Mexican restaurant and it was way better than this place so anyone visiting there in Galveston probably at either location they have don't go save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else and eat. I had a fun time trying MAC-IES. One of my friends gave it very high praises, so it has been on my must-try list for a while. I got a double burger and fries and honestly the portions are HUGE and you really get the bang for your buck. Burgers are also hugely customizable, which makes it fun and personal. The one down side about my burger was that the bread to meat ratio was a bit too high for me- I felt like I was eating mostly bun in every bite, but I also could have just gotten unlucky. I popped into Mac-ies today for lunch. This place seems to be in a bit of disarray: Half the staff were standing around doing nothing, socializing with each other. The AC units inside on the wall weren't just blowing moist air, but dripping ice cold water directly onto the tables and customers below. Half the drinks in the self-serve dispenser were out, as well as the sweet tea. I ordered a double smash burger with all the fixin's and a small fry. It took over 20 minutes for the kitchen to realize they'd overlooked my order. I was 1 of 4 customers there...! Thankfully, they were nice enough to recook it fresh and apologize after about 15 more minutes. So, after almost 45 minutes, I was finally out the door with a slightly above average burger and fries. Based on the service and quality I received today, I'm assuming Mac-ies is operating with new staff who are still trying to get into the swing of things. I'm hoping when I return, they'll have things ironed out and in ship shape. Until then, just beware. read more

As cliche as this sounds, if I could give this place 20 stars, I would! We came to Galveston after spending several days at MD Anderson, it was great to get away and relax after a not-so-fun trip to MDA. :-) One day I was napping during lunch and my husband went out for a bite. He brought back a burger from this place for me and I was hooked after bite number one! And that's a to-go burger! You know they are never quite as good as they are if you eat them fresh. I told him I had to have one in person before we left. We pulled up right at 2pm on Sunday, not knowing they closed at 2. The owner saw us parking and left the grill on for us. How many times have you been told, "sorry, we close in five minutes?" He did not even say anything about them closing until we asked much later. Y'all, theses burgers are freaking amazing!! We are leaving Galveston tomorrow and we want one more before we leave...that'll make THREE times we've had them in the five days we're here. The edges of the patties are so crisp, just like a perfect smash burger should be. The meat is well seasoned and the beef has a fresh and delicious flavor. All the toppings are equally fresh as well. I'm an avocado girl and hate it when you get yucky, discolored "alligator eggs." Both times I had it on my burger, and the avocado was super fresh and plentiful. Their buns are outrageously good and baked in house. And for those who said they are too "bready," you CAN remove some of the bread from the bun. I know...genius, right? And not at all hard to master...I promise. But for carb junkies like me, you will love them as is! The thing that took our yummy meal up an extra notch was Dillon, the owner. He was so engaging and just super enjoyable to talk to. We felt like we were at a friend's house for a meal.
