This has to be the BEST Burger in TEXSS! Mac sauce is on point. If you want a late night snack this cures all hangovers. Instantly, this is it. They have desert, shakes, Blue Bell..... Texas made kind of burger joint. If you're a tourist leave the seawall for one meal and give this place a visit. Extra Mac Sauce and the onion rings.... Thank me later. BV read more

I'm always reluctant to leave a negative review for a local business because I genuinely want to see local businesses succeed and thrive. That's especially true with MAC-IES on Broadway. When they first opened, I was excited to see them get their own space, and my early experiences were great--the service was fast, the food was good, and I was happy to support them. Unfortunately, something seems to have changed. On multiple recent visits for takeout, I've found myself waiting as long as 25 minutes for what should have been a relatively simple order, while customers who ordered after me and were dining in received their food much sooner. Unfortunately, the bigger issue is that when I finally get home, the order has frequently been wrong. I also typically order a chocolate shake with my meal. The shake is usually prepared almost immediately, which sounds great--except that by the time my food is ready, the shake has been sitting long enough to be completely melted. At that point, I usually just take the order and leave because I don't want to make a scene over something that should be easily avoidable. I've also used DoorDash to order from MAC-IES twice, and both times my order was incorrect. I've continued giving MAC-IES chances because I genuinely want to see them succeed. I believe in supporting local businesses, and I'd much rather leave a five-star review than a negative one. But after repeated problems with wait times, order accuracy, and overall consistency, I've reached the point where I have to be honest about my experience. Lesson learned: I'll be spending my money elsewhere. I sincerely hope MAC-IES can get these issues addressed because I'd like to see them succeed. But for me, enough is enough. I won't be returning to the Broadway location. read more

So Mac-ies is a stationary food truck. They are adjacent to the Galveston Bagel Company. Upon speaking with the person taking our order, I found out that both establishments are owned by the same person. There is outdoor seating but if you want to dine indoors, you are welcome to do so in the bagel shop even after the bagel shop closes at 2pm. We've been here twice and the first time we ate in the bagel shop (it was chilly outside). Nothing fancy. Nice and clean and a decent amount of seating. 2nd time, we took it to go. We ordered the "Brown Bag Special" (pic attached) both times which is only available from 2pm-5pm daily )believe they're closed on Sundays). It is only $10 and includes a single smash burger, a small fry, a chocolate chip cookie and a can of soda/fountain drink. Food: Let me tell you that this is one of my favorite burgers of all time. I got it with cheddar cheese, pickles, mustard and bbq sauce. Delicious! The fries and the cookie were also good. The first time I came, I opted for the fountain drink. I don't know if this was a one-off, but it was awful. Sickeningly sweet. I ended up throwing it away. Second time, I chose the canned soda (coke). This is one of the best values that I have encountered in a long time. I suggest that you eat it here. My to-go order was good but I really enjoyed it hot and fresh off the griddle. Full disclosure, when I got it to go, I did take it all the way back to the West End (about a 25 minute drive). I really recommend that you give this place a try. They have another a newer location on Broadway, but the reviews I read, prefers this location over the Broadway location. Service here was good and friendly. read more

I am writing my review about the location on Broadway. It is absolutely awful. I've been there three times now thinking that it was just a bad day. Every time I enter the people are not very nice. They actually kind of ignore you until they're ready to help you. Here is a tip: Say "Hi, thanks for coming in. I'll be with you in just one moment." Service is very slow. There really isn't "service". There's only an order taker. They need to learn how important great customer service is to the overall guest experience! The hamburger was overcooked, but the flavor was actually pretty good. However, the french fries at this location are extremely over seasoned, the sauce is not the same as the sauce at theTremont St. location either. Consistency of the brand should be something that this business should strive for if they're going to be successful in the long run read more

I'm a sucker for smashed. Very solid Galveston smashed burger. Flavorful and juicy patties with rich melty cheese. Fries are also well done with an enjoyable fry sauce. Has a nice round the corner burger shack kinda vibe. Also good bagel shop inside. Close drive from the Bryan Museum which I also recommend checking out. read more

I hate to say this but as of today, we are no longer fans or customers of Macie's. We used to go to the old location often. New location- all the food quality went downhill. The burgers were overcooked, they don't offer Gouda cheese any more, they changed the fries which were not great, the bun isn't the same, there was no ice in the soda machine. The patties used to be thicker and the fries used to be amazing. They had more workers than customers on a Friday at 6pm. Barely any indoor seating on a day it "feels" like 117 in TX with no a/c, very limited seating. They definitely sacrificed the quality of the burgers for a bigger space, main strip location, the cost of Gabriel's murals and that ruined it for us. Not the same burger, extremely disappointing and sad. I will no longer recommend that any friends or family go there. Ps- $51 for a family of 3- 2 burger baskets and 1 kids meal read more

I got the single patty with lettuce, tomato, onions, american cheese, pickles, & mac sauce on Texas toast. It was a fine burger, but nothing life changing. The fries and Mac sauce were pretty good and well seasoned. You could tell the fries were freshly made. I got all this plus a drink for $15 which was alright. read more

One of my favorite burger spots in Galveston without a doubt! Macies is a food truck nestled outside the Galveston Bagel Company with outdoor patio seating or indoor seating in the bagel company storefront itself. The food is reasonably priced but delicious. I'd recommend the double Mac (I personally feel that the single smash patty isn't enough meat), and my go-to toppings are tomato, spinach, Gouda, and Mac sauce. Fries are skinny and always crunchy and seasoned with what tastes like Slap ya Mama. Brown bag special also comes with a cookie, which was soft and chewy but seemed store-bought (I still appreciated this addition to this cheap meal option though). Side note: I've had multiple experiences with a woman at the register with an attitude. Despite this, I love the food and affordability so much that I still come back and would recommend this business to friends! read more

First you have to know that the Galveston Bagel company in which Mac-ies shares a space is also so freaking good!! Their bagels are fresh and you can get an amazing breakfast here as well some amazing sounding lunches. But let's get to Mac-ies. I've had the burgers and the chicken tenders, fries and seasoned waffle fries. Fries are fresh, hot and the right kind of crisp. Burgers are juicy af and delicious. Tenders are quality, not the grisly bs w more breading than meat. There's indoor seating that's 69 degrees to cool you off or a covered patio on nicer days. FYI, there is also a Mac-ies on Broadway in an old sonic, I haven't been to that one but I'm told it's burgers only. The people that work here(bagel and Mac-it's) are friendly and nice to talk to. This place is worth checking out! read more

The new Mac-ies on Broadway has a thick 1/4 lb hotdog with lots of toppings. You get to choose four of them at no additional charge. Then there's a small charge for any additional fixings you might like to add. I had a hotdog with onions, fantastic pickles, pepperoncinis, and sliced tomatoes. I added some mustard. I must say it is delicious. The fries were hot and crispy. Just the way I love them. The hot dog is so big I'm taking half of it home for later. Move over "Local Dogs". We've been there twice only to be disappointed by a hotdog that's about as big as your finger and soggy fries. Mac-it's kitchen is spotless. You can eat indoors or out. We chose to eat at the counter where we got to meet a lot of the staff who is super friendly (especially Judy and Cassandra). The ambience and the makeover of what used to be a Sonic restaurant it's great too. read more

This was my first time having a smash burger. I thought it was soooo good. I wasn't terribly hungry, so I opted for the singly patty with cheese and added bacon. The bun was fresh and soft. The meat was seasoned well. I also enjoyed the fries, and their house sauce. They were steadily busy, but service was friendly and fast. We sat outside and enjoyed the casual atmosphere. read more

First time to try this place. The biggest thing I regret is not eating here sooner. I'm a simple guy when it comes to a hamburger but that's why it's so easy to judge a hamburger place to me. Single meat through the garden and down my throat. This place has wonderful smash burgers. I don't need to have all that secret sauce and all of it running down my hands and making a mess. Single meet the garden and down my throat and they know that this place knows how to keep it simple and great quality with consistency are they can smash it all up like you people.. But what I'm trying to say is this place went from a food truck to moving in to an old sonic on the main drag of Galveston for a very good reason. read more

Broadway location: Delicious, fresh and enough to split. Husband and I split the single, a small order of fries and a drink. All for under $20! We dined in, everything was served piping hot. The bun to meat ratio is perfect. We'll go back for a milkshake and hot dog! Glad to see they've expanded to this Broadway location. 9/13/25 went back today to try the hotdog! Husband opted to repeat the excellent burger experience. Hot dog was served open faced, too much to fold and cram in my mouth. I did get the chili cheese Mayo & mustard as my toppings though. Really good and so much u couldn't finish it all. Husband also tried the chocolate milkshake. Very thick and heavy! I think I'll stick with the burger in the future. Here's an idea how about y'all add bleu cheese crumbles as a topping?! Oh and work on the dispenser water, it tastes salty?? Otherwise, all good! Keep up the great work! read more

MAC-IES - Fries and smash burger - Burgers Near Me - Galveston, Texas

This place was awesome! At first glance it didn't look like much, and appeared to be just outside seating (not much fun in summer heat!), but they share an indoor space with a bagel place with lots of booths where you can enjoy your meal. The menu is pretty basic and they have limited offerings. Don't let this deter you though. They do their job very well! And very quickly. A single Mac meal came with a very generous portion of fries and a drink. I was torn between a smash burger and chicken strips which i noticed a little too late. (Next time!!! :)) The fries had been sitting for a while, but they were still okay. I'm guessing it takes longer for the fries to cook than it does the burgers, and they just have to make them in advance. Will definitely be back! read more

Unlike my first visit, this was horrible. I phoned in an order and I could not understand a word she said. Finally just said what I wanted. Got there and she had never placed the order. I had a fun time trying MAC-IES. One of my friends gave it very high praises, so it has been on my must-try list for a while. I got a double burger and fries and honestly the portions are HUGE and you really get the bang for your buck. Burgers are also hugely customizable, which makes it fun and personal. The one down side about my burger was that the bread to meat ratio was a bit too high for me- I felt like I was eating mostly bun in every bite, but I also could have just gotten unlucky. Overall, it's a fun spot to hangout and get good food on the island and I will definitely be back. read more

The worst place we have ever been to while on vacation. They need to train their staff how to take orders correctly. Two of my family members ordered and all their burgers came out completely wrong. I placed an order and she took it incorrectly and I asked for a refund to re-order the correct thing and she still tried to give me the wrong burger when I spoke to the owner she acted like it was no big deal and the employee kept arguing with a family member that avocado was on the burger when there wasn't any avocado on that burger and the owner got upset and said she was just refunding all of our money, which was fine with us. We went to a Mexican restaurant and it was way better than this place so anyone visiting there in Galveston probably at either location they have don't go save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else and eat. I have had to call several times to get my second refund and they finally refunded it today never again. read more

After so many years vacant it was nice to see a new business move in. My delight is in how nice of a business it is. My wife and I went for lunch today and couldn't be happier. The service was top notch and managers were busy making sure everyone was taken care of and satisfied. I still haven't discussed the food...it was great. Properly cooked and dressed as I wanted it; the choices for toppings were extensive. The fries were tasty and crispy. The burger (double) was huge and I needed to eat it with a fork and knife. Well, I could only eat half...the same with the fries. Fortunately take away boxes were promptly provided. Overall a very pleasant experience with great people and good food. I popped into Mac-ies today for lunch. This place seems to be in a bit of disarray: Half the staff were standing around doing nothing, socializing with each other. The AC units inside on the wall weren't just blowing moist air, but dripping ice cold water directly onto the tables and customers below. Half the drinks in the self-serve dispenser were out, as well as the sweet tea. I ordered a double smash burger with all the fixin's and a small fry. It took over 20 minutes for the kitchen to realize they'd overlooked my order. I was 1 of 4 customers there...! Thankfully, they were nice enough to recook it fresh and apologize after about 15 more minutes. So, after almost 45 minutes, I was finally out the door with a slightly above average burger and fries. Based on the service and quality I received today, I'm assuming Mac-ies is operating with new staff who are still trying to get into the swing of things. I'm hoping when I return, they'll have things ironed out and in ship shape. Until then, just beware. read more

Holy smokes - RUN to Mac-ies! RUN! You will not be disappointed. It's the perfect smash burger! So simple and so delicious. There's a delicate balance between bland and classic and boy does Mac-ies do it right! Their setup is solid. There's a truck with a bar that you walk up to and order. The menus are laminated and so easy to read with a simple menu - how many patties do you want? What toppings? Special sauce? DONE! Fries - large or small. Drinks: check. That's it! Then, you wait all of 5 mins and BAM your food is out! ... and delivered with a smile. They don't just call your name, the owner hand delivers your food with genuine pride. True island hospitality at it's finest! Want more? Let's talk decor. The outside is clean and there's plenty of bar seating or picnic table seating without being crowded or "elbow to elbow" with a neighbor. If you prefer AC, go inside and I DARE you not to snag a bagel to-go while you wait. Try to resist - you can't. (; the interior is seriously SO clean!
