We went the day after Christmas, we started off by going upstairs to the arcade area which has its own bar area and you're able to play Xbox and Playstation on there tvs for free. The majority of arcade game you have to pay in quarters or dollars to play. During the axe throwing, Moose was great! He was very helpful with giving us tips on how to improve our throws, as well as providing us with different weighted axes and even letting us use a throwing knife. The downside, was the bar service. We ordered drinks upstairs (there was only 1 bartender) and the lady took 10-15 mins to give us 1 of the holiday cocktails, even when we were the only people upstairs. We were able to get drinks faster at the bar downstairs; however, we placed an order of potato wedges which never came out. This was a pretty cool bar / arcade. While in Galveston we stopped by for a drink. This place has two floors. The top being the arcade space with a bar. When we arrived there was a kid at the bar playing a video game which I thought was hilarious. Easily the coolest bar on the strand in Galveston! It's a bit hidden in the second floor of this building. There is a street stair entrance near the giant white trumpet statue. Or you can come through the main entrance up the elevator or winding stairs and hallways. Yes, you walk in and there's axe throwing & a bar. Go upstairs and there's a giant arcade (free!!!) and another bar. Badass, hands down - no questions asked. Legit, the best bar on the island! The axes get all the spotlight but the true gem is the freaking arcade upstairs! Took us straight back to the 90s/00s- we're talking PAC Man, pinball, DDR, guitar hero, shooting games and so much more! ALL of the employees are so nice, welcoming, helpful and let's just say badass. They all threw the axe like a pro! The place had a few parties and the bartenders were super hospitable. Axecade is so much fun! We threw axes for an hour and then enjoyed some of their video games and arcade games which are free. It was pretty empty when I went which was great, didn't have to wait to play anything. Besides the games, the place is decorated with trees and looks interesting. We did not have any food, as we had already had a late lunch, but they did have an offer on our table to scan for free wings next time we visit. We brought our nephew for his birthday, service was great, the guy showing us how to throw the ax was extremely helpful. My partner got a beer and noted that it was good. The ambiance was definitely eclectic. Bathrooms could use some cleaning. A little bar area, the ax throwing area, there was a side room maybe for events, the game room, and a DJ area. A balcony area. The floor had that fake grass on it which felt uneven in spots. Kind of weird. The ax throwing was a lot of fun, my 12 year old nephew spent the whole time throwing the ax. Axecade was a blast! The axe throwing was straight forward and the employee who runs it is super informative and very nice. The bar on the first floor was professional and very welcoming. The beer was cold and the music was amazing. The second floor is where the arcade is at and although they do not have the biggest selection of games, they definitely have enough to satisfy anyone's thirst for the classic arcade. Very knowledgeable and gave us a really good briefing on how to throw axes and how to play all of the games. I went there for one of my friends birthdays and at first I didn't even want to play because every time I've thrown an ax before but they were super heavy and I didn't realize they had different types of games on there that you can play, which makes it way more fun than just throwing an ax at a Wall. They actually have three different kinds of axes to fit everyone's needs. The staff was great at helping keep the bday surprise party a secret and gave us a heads up when the birthday boy arrived. They have options on if you want to be a spectator or actually play. You do have to pay five dollars as a spectator fee. Parking is easy, and you can bring our own food , beer, wine and soft drinks. I love retro arcade games and craft beer, so I was excited to check this place out. It was somewhat hard to find and it was unclear where to enter the building from where we parked. It was also a little hot on the top floor where the arcade is but I will not hold that against a place in Galveston, Texas in the middle of June. None of that is a big deal to me, but I noticed it. This place is not a sports bar, but my head almost exploded when I saw multiple staff members spend something like 30 minutes to try to tune one of the bar TVs to an NBA Finals game on ABC. I get there are a lot of streaming services to juggle these days, but these people could not find the channel to save their life and I think the customers who requested to watch it eventually gave up and left. Again, it's not a sports bar but they did have a sign for an NBA Finals watch party the week before, so I would think someone who works there should know how to tune into a nationally broadcast basketball game. The arcade section on the top floor was OK. It had a few pinball machines: Stranger Things, Mandalorian, Avengers, and Deadpool. They also had a number of arcade machines, including a Sega Spider-Man game that I have not seen anywhere in the last 30 years, so that was cool to see. I don't like that the regular old arcade games (non-pinball) require the use of quarters to play. That's a business decision, but old games like that should just be free to play. Perhaps the newer, fancier arcade games also available should cost money to play, but I don't know. What I do know is that every single game, pinball or otherwise, took quarters, and the change machine was out of order. Really not cool! The beer selection was decent. Perhaps a few more taps could be added, but there were several beers available from the Galveston area and from elsewhere in Texas. The bar service was slower than I would have liked when it wasn't all that busy. I did not check out the food menu. The axe throwing looked fun and well-organized, although I did not try my hand at it. There are many common-sense changes that would make Axecade a whole lot better. I will consider giving it another chance when I visit again on my next trip to Galveston. read more

We always have fun here. The bartenders are nice, even when it's busy, and you can tell they work hard for their customers. That's really important (nothing bums out a night like a surly bartender). Hear me out....this place is F-ing AWESOME!!! Hubby and I had an incredible time. They are working on getting their business model in place BUT the peeps are insanely nice and accommodating. The coleslaw was phenomenal and added another level to the crunch from the chicken. The brioche bun absorbed all of the flavor to not let anything waste. The well drinks were $5 and the draft beers were $7. If you want to do axe throwing it's $15 per person per hour. They have a PS5, Nintendo switch, and plenty of other console, pinball and arcade games that are free!! The service was impeccable! I was greeted as soon as I walked in. Provided information about the ace throwing, the games they had, beer pong, free games upstairs and the bar menu to order food. I'd recommend to go past the bar and sit at the table that has the monopoly game on it. I played that for about an hour and had such a great time! This is a gem for the community as it was not packed on a Thursday night. The patrons that were there were also pretty friendly. The ambiance was very relaxing and inviting. The only thing that is a bit scary is hearing the axes hit the wall.
